My guide Gobi was perfectly on time, spoke excellent English and was full of information about Thailand and happy to suggest places I might want to visit on my forthcoming tour of Northern Thailand. During our visits to both the Hmong and Karen villages it became obvious that he knew the people there well and and cared for them. His knowledge of their history, culture and lifestyle gave a great insight into their lives and current situation. I can heartily recommend booking at tour with AP Good@ Travel

Itinerary
The Hmong Hill Tribe originally comes from Southern China. The first Hmong villages were established in Northern Thailand on the end of the 19th century.
Civilization and materialism change their lives from hill tribes who live with a peaceful life, behind the mountains, to people who live rush in the city. Some cultures are almost gone from the minds of the new generation and no one knows when it will be forgotten.

Our guide was excellent; very knowledgeable and friendly. I really enjoyed meeting the local tribes and interacting with them. They were very welcoming. In the Karen village, they were selling their items, but no pressure to buy anything. It was a great tour for me since I love culture and learning about people’s lived experiences.
I was living very good experience with Noom 04/05/2026 Thank you for everything ❤️ We will back Next years For you and your professional company 🙏🥂
Gobi and our driver Mr. Bo were incredible. We talked about our mutual love of foods. Gobi made a dinner reservation for us and it was wonderful
On 26 Feb 2026 my wife and I did this tour. Our Guide Mr Gobi and driver Mr Boo were exceptional. This tour is not a pre staged ‘tourist’ attraction but an insight into the daily lives of these amazing people. Mr Gobi was extremely knowledgable and along with driver Mr Boo gave information about the daily lives of the people of these villages. My wife and I could not rate this tour more highly. An amazing experience.
We had a fantastic morning with our guide Linda. She was very knowledgeable about the Hilltribe culture and shared a lot about Thai history and politics. We were the only visitors in the Hmong village and our time in the broom lady’s house was very special.
We enjoyed an excellent and informative afternoon, guided by Gobi, who helped us gain insight into the history of the tribespeople, who were refugees from Myanmar and China. Gobi spoke their language, which aided communication and navigated the challenges of being interested, but not intrusive.
We had a wonderful time with Gobi today. He was very warm and witty which made the trip very enjoyable. He was particularly knowledgeable about tribal culture and took the time to explain details to us. Thank you so much for a memorable trip!
A private tour that was beyond our expectations. Gobi our guide was wonderful! Knowledgeable, humorous and had excellent English. An absolutely wonderful extended half day tour. Thank you so much
Great tour. The driver and guide were very knowledgable and friendly. Guide spoke great English and knew the areas we went to very well
We just returned from our tour with Nui and Boo and had an amazing visit to the Hill Tribes. We were a bit nervous if our visit would be intrusive and/ or unauthentic, but it was quite the opposite. We learned so much about not only the Hill peoples’ experiences, but also Nui’s since he grew up in the country. Both driver and guide treated us so kind ( water, wet cloths ) and even took us on an additional stop to a wonderful bee product company. We enjoyed their company so much we are hoping to fit in another tour with them. Truly a fun and educational trip you won’t forget!!
We took three trips whilst in Chiang Mai being expertly guided by Gobi and safely driven by Mr Boo. We would highly recommend them if you are looking for excellent, amusing and above all knowledgeable guides.
Excellent experience, 100% recommended. From the time you arrive, to the comfort of the vehicle, the availability of the guides make this visit recommendable for all those who demand a high quality of service.
This week my wife and I went on the Half Day Long Neck Hill Tribe and Hmong Hill Tribe tour by private car. We were fortunate enough to have Mr Gobi as our tour guide for the 3rd time (upon our request). I have to say this was one of the best tours we have ever been on and was made even better by having Mr Gobi as our guide. We would never have been able to experience what we did, on our own, without attending this tour. Mr Gobi showed us all of the crops that the Hmong grew then took us into one of the Hmong villagers houses which was a very special experience. Follow that we headed to the Karon Long neck tribe village which again was a very special experience. We found Mr Gobi to be easy going and friendly with a great sense of humour which kept us entertained. He felt more like a friend than a tour guide by the end. We’d also like to give our driver, Mr Boo a shout out as he was an extremely careful driver who managed to navigate the windy roads to our destinations and return us safely back to our hotel. We highly recommend this tour!
We had Gobi as guide and Boo as driver. We are more than happy to have them as they are so so nice and friendly and welcoming. We actually also book another tour today to look at the elephant hospital. Their attentiveness are most appreciated
Tour guide Moi Moi & driver, Siriya (sp) were an excellent team. Moi moi is very knowledgeable & articulate re: hill tribes. Driver was amazing navigating around some roads construction.
Very informative. Lovely friendly guide who was happy to explain all. Drive was good and mini bus comfortable.
Pe and her driver were fantastic. Pe was very informative and helpful. The driver was excellent and considerate. I would highly recommend both and the tour.
Hmong hill tribe village by far the better of the two visits - took in visit to homes and school but not ideal for those not interested in culture, history or lifestyle of the Hmong people. Long Neck hill tribe entirely set up as market with plenty shopping and photo opportunity with Karen people dressed in traditional clothing as are those women and children wearing brass rings, hence the title long-neck.
Gobi our guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was interesting to see how other people live and Gobi also arranged for us to visit a hilltribe school as well.
Fabulous tour with extra guides. Very interesting. Many stops Amazing. WE learnt a lot of things. Do it !
We had a wonderful time with Bee our guide who was knowledgable, and so fun to be with. Seeing the tribes was amazing!!
Wonderful experience. Gobi the guide was extremely well informed & very well versed with the history & traditions of the tribes. Boo was a very skilled driver up the narrow hill road. Both Gobi & Boo were very conscientious. The tribal people were so skillful & very courteous. Beautiful people with many beautiful wares to admire
Everything was perfect. Our guide, Noom, was very friendly and gave us all the necessary explanations about the ethnicities (and even tips for the rest of our trip). The excursion is done in two stages. First, visit an authentic Hmong village, explain their way of life (especially agriculture) Second, visit a Long Neck village. Beyond the shopping facade, we saw the back of the decor thanks to Noom. Half day very rewarding, to do without hesitation!
Excellent guide who speaks excellent English. The driver was very experienced in small streets and curves in the mountains. The people are very welcoming and smiling.
Interesting visit to the LONG NECK tribe and the HMONG hill. Totally recommended. You can interact with them as well as enjoy the views in the mountains.
Discovery of the truly rich and human Hmong village with our guide Linda, we were just the 4 of us as a family. It's a real village with its inhabitants. We were able to visit a typical house, discover local crafts and traditions... My son was able to meet a child his age and we enjoyed delicious donuts... The visit to the village of Long Necks was much shorter and has nothing to see, it is a village made up from scratch, with lots of tourists, but as the guide told us, it is an alternative preferable to a life in Burma, this allows children to go to school in Thailand and benefit from the health system. I recommend this half day!
The discovery of the Hmong village was truly rich and very human. We were able to discover the crafts and taste donuts...the village of Long Neck is much more touristy, nothing to see, even if you have to see it at least once.
