Visiting the template with Jida was absolutely lovely. She is very knowledgeable, cheerful and introduced us to her culture and religion in a respectful and open way. No question was too much. We enjoyed the trip very much.

Itinerary
One of northern Thailand’s most important and beautiful temples, located near the top of Doi Suthep (Mount Suthep). It is a place of worship, dates back to the year 1373 when the first Chedi was built. It is an important pilgrimage spot for the devout and is sacred site to many Thai people. Visitors can take the 306 steps staircase or ride on a cable car to reach the pagoda.
While most people head to the top of Doi Suthep to visit the golden chedi of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, many don’t realize there’s another gem hiding part way up the mountain. While it is not a particularly beautiful temple building, it features magical temple grounds including a waterfall, forest paths and stunning views of the city.

It was an excellent tour. Our guide Jida was incredibly knowledgeable. She gave us a good overview of the history as well as cultural and religious significance of the temples. Our driver Mr Boo was also good at making sure we were comfortable, ensuring we had water the entire trip and he handled the curvy roads of the mountain and busy traffic nicely. The temples were absolutely stunning. It was not overwhelmingly crowded. Our time at each stop was paced out nicely.
We had the chance to have GOBI as a guide who was perfect… Knowledgeable, helpful, not pressing us and we see two temples différents but very interesting. We highly appreciate and recommend this tour (with this guide)
We had an outstanding trip with our wonderful guide Noom - it was so much more than just a tour but a cultural experience, where we got to learn about the history, culture and heritage of the people of Northern Thailand. Noom was a fountain of knowledge and delight to chat to about so many aspects of life, plus a great insight into supers spots to eat, shop and engage with Chaing Mai!
I had a great time on this tour! Noom is very friendly and knows a lot about the temples and the city. He explained everything clearly and gave good local tips. At the beginning, I choose to take the stairs instead if the elevator. I definitely recommand it for the experience, even with the heat 🙂 The driver was also very kind. Thank you !
Perfect in every way. Fa our guide is amazing with her knowledge and how she explains it. We cannot praise her enough. Driver was cool, safe and good too.
We booked a private tour for The Doi Suthep and Palad Temples in Chiang Mai with AP Good Travel via Trip Advisor. Our private guide, Noom, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Chiang Mai, Buddhism and the influences of other religions on the region, architecture and culture. Having a private guide was the perfect way to get a customized experience for this tour. Noom taught us how to honor the Buddha and get blessed by a monk at Doi Suthep. That was a very special experience. I highly recommend Noom as a private tour guide!
Noom is an absolute gem of a guide. He made the tour both educational and hilarious, his insights are top-notch and his energy is contagious. Don't hesitate to book with him, you won't regret it!
Found this great tour company through my hotel concierge. I had struggled finding private tour companies that would take a solo traveler out believe it or not. Nui was fantastic and the driver Tom was safe and careful. Because he had also been a Buddhist monk, Nui absolutely knew so much about the religion and even helped me get blessed by a monk which was a highlight of my trip. I highly recommend this tour company to anyone wishing a more tailored, personal experience. English was fantastic and we also visited a jade factory.
Tobi was a really good host. We had a really great time with him. He would answer all the questions we had, and the experience was really good. He explains all the points. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely be asking for him for other tours as well.
Gobi was great and very knowledgeable giving us all the details of the history and meaning of temples and Chiang Mai with so much patience. Definitely worth it to do this tour while in Chiang Mai. The tour is on a very comfortable van with plenty of cold water and AC.
Gobi is my tour guide and he is fabulous! He is very knowledgeable in his work and brings you to the best spots around! I enjoyed and learn s lot from him.
Bee was very informative and knowledgeable. She was very polite and had a great attitude. The driver, Mr B, kept the car very clean, drove comfortably, and made sure there was water and towels to provide.
The half day tour was very efficient and informative. Gobi, our guide, was the perfect host. He supplied a plethora of information and insight. He is a true professional! We visited the two temples and never felt rushed. He explained everything succinctly with lots of sidebars and anecdotes. The tour never dragged, and we felt we truly experience a piece of Thailand’s culture.
Our second trip with guide Nui from AP Travel. Again we were picked up from our hotel this time on a half day tour to Doi Suthep and Palad temples. Very interesting trip made more so by Nui’s knowledge. We asked at the end of the trip if we could be dropped off in the old town of Chiang Mai instead of the hotel and Nui was happy to oblige. Fond memories of our visits to Chaing Mai and our guide Nui both trips were a reasonable price too for a private tour.
Really enjoyed this evening trip. We were picked up at 4pm in a mini bus. The traffic was busy leaving Chang Mai. The ‘Hidden Temple’ in a lovely setting in a forest and was very peaceful. The driver told us about the different parts of the temple. We then went to Doi Suthep temple. From there you could see the whole of Chiang Mai. The sunset was hazy but the view was still good.
This week my wife and I went on the Half Day Doi Sutherland and Palau Temple tour by private car. We were fortunate enough to have Mr Gobi as our tour guide for the second time (upon our request). I have to say this was one of the best tours we have ever been on and was made even better by having Mr Gobi as our guide. The temples we were taken to were amazing and Mr Gobi was a wealth of knowledge on the history of not only the temples but the countries past. We found Mr Gobi to be easy going and friendly with a great sense of humour which kept us entertained. He felt more like a friend than a tour guide by the end. We enjoyed his knowledge and company so much that we requested he take us on the next tour we had booked. We’d also like to give our driver, Mr Boo a shout out as he was an extremely careful driver who managed to navigate the windy roads to our destinations. We highly recommend this tour!
Our guide Nui was very friendly and informative. He was very professional. We had a great time . Very fascinating cultur
Nui was fantastic, very knowledgeable and kind . Really enjoyed the private tour . Would recommend this to others. Took me a while to write this but wanted to make sure others are aware of this good tour operator. I would use them again if and when I go back to Chiang Mai.
Wonderful views, good history and culture. Knowledgeable friendly guide. The temples are beautiful and the view from the mountain was beautiful.
Chiang Mai was our eighth major city visit in 24 months, we did tours in all sometimes more than one. This is the first time we have felt compelled to write a review about our tour yesterday. Why? Because our guide, Nikki, was just amazing. So incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful. We got a real insight into Thai Buddhism, meditation, the way of life, culture and history of the Lan Na kingdom. We really could not recommend this tour highly enough. Thank you Nikki for a fabulous morning 🙏
The tour guide was really good. She knew EVERYTHING and explained it very well. I felt she enjoyed the job and sharing all her knowledge about her culture and history. She was very kind and helpful. The driver was good too.
During our stay in Chiang Mai we booked three private tours to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, Chiang Rai/Golden Trangle and Doi Inthanon National Park. The tour company had assigned the same guide and driver to all three tours. We very much appreciated not only the extraordinary knowledge and communication skills of our guide ‘A’ as well as the driving skills of she driver but also their company. Guide and driver are shown in the pictures attached. We highly recommend AP for sightseeing tours around Chiang Mai.
My friends and I rented a red car driver to tour us through the mountains of Chiang Mai. Wat Palad was one of my favorite temples. We had to hike to get there where its tucked away in the mountains.
This site is a long walk up a mountain or you can now take a tram. Once on top, the temple is breathtaking and we’ll worth the trip. I had visited here in 1973 while in the military and wanted my family to see this place. It is an experience no one can forget. How they got the material up there and how they built a beautiful dragon on both sides if the steps all the way down the mountain is a marvel. That it is still in pristine condition is equally as amazing.
My wife and I booked a half day private tour to visit Wat Palad and Wat Doi Suthep on our honeymoon, and we had the best time with our guide Nan and our driver Voo. Nan and Voo are hilarious and have great camaraderie, and immediately made us feel like we were all old friends on the drive through Chiang Mai and into the mountains. Our first stop was Wat Palad, a rustic and simple but beautiful site. Nan gave us a fascinating overview of its history through its architecture, which features Lanna (old northern kingdom), Burmese (via earlier conquests by Myanmar), and Thai styles. We then continued to Wat Doi Suthep at the top of the mountain, just in time for Nan to ensure that we had front row seats for the monks’ chanting ceremony and subsequent blessing ceremony. Nan’s deep expertise on these temples and Buddhist practices was apparent throughout. He showed us all over the temple grounds, highlighting the different kinds and styles of Buddha and explaining the cultural significance of everything we saw. He also arranged for an impromptu blessing for our marriage by a monk! We had a great time and learned a lot. I highly recommend this company’s tours, especially with Nan and Voo!
Great tour led by an amazing and extremely accommodating tour guide and driver. Our tour guide Tree was wonderful and would highly recommend booking through this tour company and requesting Tree. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient throughout our visit including looking after our 20 month son!
We had the best experience we could have hoped for, even in rainy weather! Our guide Noi was very attentive and she was very knowledgeable. She helped us with all doubts we had and made us feel comfortable at all times. Our driver was friendly and drove safely around the city as well. If you're looking for a half-day experience, don't miss this tour!
We booked this at the last minute but the tour company were attentive and very responsive. Nan was our guide and Boo our driver. Both very friendly, knowledgeable and patient with my sons. I would definitely recommend this tour company and these guides to others.
The tours offered by all good travel are great and can be adjusted as desired. We took this half day but also added the Hmong tribe. Gobi helps you meet people because he has a natural empathy. And the minivan is nice with water on demand.
Our visit to the Elephant Hospital in Chiang Mai and the King's Elephant Camp was one of the most impressive experiences I have ever had. It was fascinating to see how important it is that elephants learn from their mahouts how to behave during a medical examination. Of course, even the most experienced mahout cannot always guarantee that an elephant will remain absolutely calm. Therefore, the legs of the animals are secured during treatments with ropes – a measure that ensures not only the safety of doctors and caregivers, but also that of the elephants themselves. Anyone who hastens to label this practice as cruelty to animals probably did not understand how responsibly it works here. Both in the hospital and in the sanctuary, the needs of the elephants are met with so much love and care that you can feel how well the animals are doing there. Our guide Goby and our driver Boo have taken the whole experience to a new level. Goby was incredibly friendly, charming and full of knowledge. He not only explained everything about the elephants, but also gave us deeper insights into Thai culture and the life of the Mahouts that we would never have otherwise gotten. After the elephant visit we explored a local market together, where Goby told us so many details and stories that the trip was unforgettable for us. Also our previous tour to two temples was just great. Goby impressed us with his extensive factual knowledge and insights into Buddhist culture – something made even more special by his own experience as a former monk. I can only recommend this tour to anyone who wants to discover the true Thailand. The combination of nature, culture and knowledge has made our stay in Chiang Mai a unique experience!
