We had a lovely guide, Noon who was very informative. All the different places were worth visiting. Be prepared it is a long journey and you are on the bus for most of it. I would recommend

One of the few natural hot springs in northern Thailand, the Mae Kachan Hot Spring (Mae Ka Chan is so hot—reaching temperatures of 194˚F (90˚C—it can boil an egg in minutes, a feat that locals are more than happy to demonstrate. As well as cooking your breakfast, you can dip your toes in several pools. Mae Kachan Hot Spring allows foot soaking only; full-body entry is not permitted.
Wat Rong Khun, perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a privately owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997.
Baan Dam Museum, also known to foreigners as the Black House Museum, is a mixture of traditional northern Thai buildings with unconventional and contemporary architecture, created by Thawan Duchanee.
Monumental, modern Buddhist temple distinguished by its vivid blue coloring & elaborate carvings.
Located in the far north of the province, the Golden Triangle is one of Chiang Rai's most famous attractions. Notorious in the past because of the opium trade, the Golden Triangle is the area where the borders of three countries converge: Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma). Take a boat trip on the watery domestics lined along the borders (Option)
Optional visit to the Karen Long-neck tribe(admission fee 300 THB/PAX). A tribal village whose women wear stacked brass rings on their necks & sell handmade crafts. For those who do not visit Karen Long-neck Village, the tour guide will ask you to wait for others for around 1 hour. You can spend your time at the nearby market.

Originally I did not expect much from this day trip because my first impression of Chiang Mai wasn’t great. However, the fact is that this trip is quite worth my time and money. Both the tour guide and the driver were helpful and the itinerary was excellent in covering those attractions that I wouldn’t have visited myself. So I recommend this product to all foreigners. By the way, a taxi driver offered his service with much higher price without going to the Golden Triangle.
When backpacking and needing to get from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, what better way to travel than by excursion! First stop was the Hot Springs where we breakfasted on freshly boiled eggs - they truly are, hot springs! Then onto the White Temple which is simply stunning and not to be missed, the grounds are superbly maintained and around every corner there is a surprise. Next, the Blue Temple is a vision in blue and gold. Then the Black 'temple' which is really a museum for the works and architecture of Thawan Duchanee, a Thai artist- what an imagination he had. Finally we went on a boat trip to view the border of Myanmar from a safe distance. The guide provided us with interesting information, the driver was helpful and we were dropped close to Chiang Rai where we could get a Grab taxi to our hotel. What a superb way to travel.
Driver was careful and safe, guide knowledgeable and helpful. The eggs cooked in the hot springs were delicious. The white and blue temples are stunning. Baandam museum certainly different, super architecture. Boat trip made a change of scene. Passed on the Long neck village. We really appreciated being dropped off near Chiang Rai. A great way to back pack between cities.
This was a full day excursion but it didn't feel as exhausting as I'd feared. We got to spend time at the intricate White Temple, the approachable Blue Temple, and the mysterious Black Museum. I was grateful to meet some of the Hill People and the Long neck tribes and see their wares. (They were honest about which things were handmade and which were mass-produced.) I always love a chance to be on the water and the Mekong River was fascinating. So much history. I appreciated hearing about Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and how the area that was once so dangerous in the heroin trade is now developing in a new direction.
This tour was exceptionally disappointing, some of which I take personal accountability for. First I would like to state that it is important to do your research as a consumer. Reading reviews can be really helpful, and I would like to help you. Chaing Rai and the Golden triangle are a really long somewhat unpleasant distance from Chaing Mai. You should be really excited for the destination if you are going to commit to a 4 1/2 hour van ride each way. The road is curvy and under construction. Our driver was speedy. When I wasn't glad that he was trying to get it done, I was slightly afraid of the bold get in the opposite traffic moves that happened ALOT. Keep in mind, you don't pick other riders. It's nobody's fault that a baby cried half the way home. We are talking 14 hours tour. It's a day. Had i understood the destinations by doing my homework, I wouldn't Ave gone. The hot spring was essentially a souvenier money grab. So unnecessary. The white and blue temples were both built in the last thirty years. The BANDFAM is a contemporary art museum. The vibe to me is that these stops are all Chaing Rai Disney world money grabs. Zero historical significance. Interesting architecture but that's about it. The lunch was meh. Our tour guide Diamond did as little tour guiding as possible. "Maybe" five minutes of information at the beginning of each stop, as well as telling us when to be back at the van. Pretty sure she took power naps on at least two legs of our trip. She was not wearing a company uniform and did not display a licensed tour operator identification card. In effort to suggest improvements, I would recommend that your guides should be licensed, should not nap on the job, and should actually lead Tours at each stop unless handing off to a knowledgeable guide. I would not stop at the hotspring. I would go into Chang Rai proper for lunch. Chang Rai is a cute town that tourists might want to come back to if the got to actually see it.i am guessing lunch could happen there instead of a hole in the wall that looked like it was owned by the tour guides friends or family. The highlight of the tour was the extra fee boat ride at the Golden Triangle. That activity was handed off to a licensed tour operator who was GREAT. I wished I was on her day tour. That brief engagement made my friend and I want to go back to Laos. She was that good. Sidebar... there was another extra fee stop at a long neck village. To each their own but there is some seriously unethical practices surrounding these villages. As a consumer, educate yourself. As a tour operator, decide that it is morally unacceptable to bring tours to these sad sad sad refugee camps.
Long day trip, but worth it. Tour guide Matthew was very informative and cheerful and spoke extremely good english and easy to understand. Our driver Donny was great, very good driver and we never felt unsafe. We also never felt pressured to buy anything where-ever we stopped, and great recommendation from Matthew to buy the coconut icecream and blue sticky rice at The Blue Temple (not to be missed !!). We enjoyed every part of this trip and being picked up & dropped off at our hotel was wonderful. We did the additional Karen tribe visit and really enjoyed it, such a great way to experience and learn about another culture. We didnt do the boat tour at the Golden Triangle, we just relaxed, once again, interesting place to be because of 3 countries bordering the river. Van was comfortable as well.
the tour was to long…would have been better without golden triangle…made tour to long and uncomfortable & then drive back was over 4 hours back, driver drove like he was on drugs (speed) was car sick the whole way back, couldn’t wait for tour to be over and done…
Chaing Mai and chaing rai is really a gorgeous place to visit . Nature , beauty , food , culture and away from a Bangkok rush life . Chaing rai is a small city but has too many attractions to must see and experience. The tour operator , guide and driver were so professional in their job and knowledge. Explained every bit of step very well .
Amazing trip to the White, Blue & Black Temples as well as the Golden Triangle. Great guide and a very experienced driver, highly recommend to anyone interested in Thai’s culture, history and Buddhism. Thank you Job the guide and the driver!
Peter the your guide was excellent. Good English, informative and kept us on schedule. However travel van (3-4 hours each way) was old, extremely uncomfortable. Suspension was totally gone. Seat belts held you in seat otherwise you would fly out. Totally unacceptable!! Not Viator quality.
Great experience Smile our guide was wonderful our driver was great. Long day but we’ll worth it Would highly recommend Tracey
It was very a good Day. White temple is wahou ! Such a beautiful place... The trip is well timed, the guide very nice et very good driver. Confort in the van...All perfect, except...the meal : awfull place, crowded, noisy, not bad but not good food, ...you really need to change that because all the rest was so great !
I took so many photos. My tour give good service for us. I met some friends who are really nice and familier. I was happy and enjoy my journey.
They did deliver taking us to places as advertised with plenty of photo opportunities but the ride was not comfortable, they crammed too many seats in the van. The tour guide was pathetic, poor communication could not understand him at all. Lunch was garbage. I would not have minded paying more for better service, more comfortable ride and better guide. Overall it still helped me get Chiang Rai golden triangle checked off my bucket list .I would not recommend this vendor
This was one of the worst and most unprofessional trips i was a part of personally. For the others it was probably okay and good enough but how i was personally treated was outrageous. I was told to be at the meetup location at 8:00am by Oh-Hoo and have the email as proof but got a call at 7:15 by the driver asking where i was and threatening to leave me if i wasn’t there soon even though which is not my fault. It wasn’t until after multiple extreme negotiations back and forth to convince and beg them not to leave us behind on logistics that weren’t our fault due to terrible communication. To make matters worst, the host slammed the van door on my fingers at one of the stops and injured my hand for the rest of my trip. Like i prefaced, i doubt anyone else had the same experience because accidents happen but that was beyond stressful to deal with the communication failure and very painful to deal with the door being slammed shut on my hand
The White Temple made me realise, it was a must experience at least once in a lifetime. Everything was perfectly designed. The workmanship is ingenious. From Architectural point of view, I would say the White Temple can be referred to as 20th Century Taj Mahal. The food was not adequate. In Chiang Rai I am sure there are better quality food. I have some feedback for the organisers. The 1st driver was very reckless and tje passengers did not feel safe. The guide talks non-stop giving the passengers migraine. She talks as if she is teaching the elementary school students. She also was talking bad things about people from the South of Thailand. If she is representing her country as a tourist guide she should not badmouth her own countrymen. She was also being very rude when she talked about refugees from Myanmar. No one wants to become a refugees unless they have no other option. Finally, the tourists who opt in to visit the long neck village said it felt like a human zoo. So please my suggestion would be to respect these refugees from Myanmar and stop using them as part of the visit.
Prepare yourself for a long ride in a van. We didn’t realize most of the day would be spent in the car (the way back was 4h). The temples are gorgeous, the black house museum is very special, the long neck tribe visit is somehow not authentic as much as you expect and the golden triangle summed up with a very short uneventful boat ride. If I had to recommend doing any of the above it would have been if you’re already based in Chiang Rai. Anyway, an experience.
Didnt like it. The van was absolutely uncomfortable, my seat was wet for longer than 2 hours and they didnt care. It is a long tour even if you book less stuff, you will need to wait to everyone.. So better to get full pack otherwise you are losing your time as they dont organise it properly. I just went to differents tours and this one it is the worse quite clear.
The Golden Triangle portion of this tour was terrible. The guide intensely pressured our group into paying 100bht extra per person to land in Laos and spend 30 minutes in a “local market” and then spent the majority of our boat ride not talking about the history of the Golden Triangle but instead telling us how lucky we were to go on this (paid for) tour and about the discount alcohol, cigarettes, and knock off designer goods available at the “local market” in Laos. And continued this sales pitch in the pouring rain as we struggled to dock. This “local market” was a not yet completed outlet mall. Less problematic but still odd or unfortunate aspects of this tour: our guide’s level of English was barely functional (I ended up going on Wikipedia for site descriptions), dinner was not only not included even though we arrived home at 10pm but consisted of a 15 minute break at a 7/11, the tour had 12 people when max 10 people had been advertised. The Black House Museum has cool architecture but is pretty much just a bunch of taxidermied animals and their skins inside-not interesting. Besides the above, our guide was kind, polite, and kept our group on schedule. The hot springs, white temple, and blue temple were amazing, and it was a gorgeous drive. The hill tribe village market was nice. The boat ride was beautiful and seeing Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand simultaneously was incredible. The driver was good and the vehicle was comfortable.
The ideal is clothes the combination the colours the Temple … are photos for Instagram … beautiful. Let’s go with breakfast … 😉
The White Temple, Blue Temple, Black Museum and Tribal Village are all great places to visit and the tour did take us to those places. The tour guide did tell us some information about these places, but because of time constraints all this information was given while in the van and it was difficult to hear. Unfortunately the final stop, the Golden Triangle, ends up souring the whole day. When booking the tour there is an option to pay for a boat ride, but it is never made clear that this is the only thing to do at the Golden Triangle. If you don’t book this boat you will just be left to sit on a bench for an hour until the group finishes the boat ride - so why is it even an option, just include it in the tour. But the worst part of the day was that the tour guide surprised everyone with another option that was NEVER mentioned until a few minutes before we arrived at the Golden Triangle… If the entire group (of strangers) agreed to pay extra we could go visit Laos for 30 minutes. This leads to a very uncomfortable situation because most of the group didn’t want to go, but some did, so the rest felt pressured to go along with it. The tour guide kept telling us how lucky we were to have this opportunity, but the visit to Laos is a huge waste of time. The only thing you do is go to a small market where you can buy cheap whisky or cigarettes or fake designer handbags. It makes no sense that the tour schedules 30 mins to sit in a small Laos market, when they scheduled the same amount of time to visit the Black Museum and Blue Temple. We would much rather spent more time at those places that be pressured into visiting a Laos market. The whole thing felt dodgy since it was never mentioned in the tour description. The Golden Triangle itself is not worth visiting anyway, it’s better to have a tour that spends more time at the other locations.
This was a great day tour with plenty of sights to see. We stopped at a total of four places. All interesting in there own ways. The White temple was my favorite. Spend the extra 50 baht to see the art cave while you are there.
The tour guide was very nice and very helpful. She made the experience fun and entertaining. Accommodation was as the description.
It was a very long but worthwhile visit and tour to Chiang Rai. Our tour guide, Lady MM, was the best. She was very knowledgeable and gave us all the information about the temples before we arrived so we had context when actually seeing everything. The long neck Karen village is unique and an opportunity to shop there and support the tribe. Lunch was delicious and traditional Thai food in a local Thai restaurant. The trip going seems very short but be prepared for the 4-5 hour drive back from the border of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand (Golden Triangle) to Chiang Mai. The road is very winding and the driver made several passes that were reckless, at times going very fast, and made us feel unsafe. The tour itself and the tour guide were worthwhile and would definitely recommend.
Very long trip but worth seeing the white and blue temples. Black House museum was not our thing but maybe interesting for others. Karen Village was only a market experience and not actually seeing much of the culture. The Golden triangle was not what we expected - Very smoggy and low visibility- not much to see. Just a 30 minutes ride. Laos market is closed and no visit to the market is included, which was a bit disappointing . Guide Firn was lovely and interacted with us through the whole journey.
Traveling with me husband. The trip was sufficient for the money paid. It offered a host information and happy tour guide.
Great way to see all major temples in Chiang Rai. Long drive but it’s expected due to distance from Chiang Mai. Both driver and tourguide were nice and awesome.
The tour was very well organized, with a fun guide. Her English wasn't perfect but she was very kind and open to questions. The food was great, and everything run on time.
White temple was best. Black house museum also good. Golden triangle not so much. Did not get seasonal fruits or trishaw ride as per itinerary. Long day.
Must not miss the boat ride at Golden Triangle! It includes a sojourn on the Laotian side where you can sample exotic bootleg whisky. Be warned, it is not for the faint hearted.
Start worried 15 minutes late’ the rest of the program was respected. The guide very well and the perfect driver careful no particular worries. Good trip. Recommended.
I found a very long tour and the only places that were really worth it were the white and blue temple. The walk in the golden triangle is SUPER GRATILESS, completely unnecessary, the black temple is actually a museum that is more or less. Looks like it was just for an itinerary. I bet they'd have better stuff to compose this otinerario.
We visited these 2 temples in Chinag Mai and the golden triangle, with enough time to enjoy the 3 places. The Mam guide knew how to make us enjoy the experience
The guide was super nice but it was very difficult to understand his English is to practice.... In time he will be a great guide
Very good Guide attention and good driver driving. It is a long tour but the Guide explains part of the culture, language and history of the places to visit. That makes the journey very light. They are very friendly and English is quite understandable. The food included is traditional and very good tasting. He considers that the visit to the Villa de las Karen will cost THB 300 per person. You will also have to pay an additional fee for boarding the Golden Triangle Boat of approximately another 250 THB/person.
Well organized excursion, with the right amount of time dedicated to each attraction, good food. Very nice guide, somewhat reckless driver!! Recommended for those who want to tour around Chiang Rai in one day.
Obrigada
