We booked a full 3-day car hire for the two of us, with a custom itinerary that included transfers between Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao and Chiang Rai. Since our hotels were spread across different areas, including some more remote mountain locations around Doi Chiang, having a professional driver made perfect sense. Our driver was incredibly friendly, punctual, and drove very skillfully, especially on the winding mountain roads. The custom itinerary gave us the flexibility to visit many places we wanted, including WTF Coffee, Pongyang Jungle Coaster & Zipline, Akha Farmville, Singha Park Chiang Rai, and even harder-to-reach spots like Mae Mao Reservoir. It was a little pricey, but definitely worth it for us. It would have been difficult, if not impossible, to cover all these places using Grab, and driving ourselves on some of the remote and winding mountain roads would not have been ideal. Having a skilled local driver made the whole trip much easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

We booked a private van with Arin for two days. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Arin was not just a driver, he was an excellent guide and helped optimize our time in Chiang Mai. He is very knowledgeable about the area and about Thai culture, so we benefited greatly from his expertise. Today my friend and I did a tour to Chiang Rai with Arrin, we were departing from Chiang Mai. Originally we planned to see a few temples in Chiang Rai, between them, the White Temple and the Blue Temple. The guide of Arrin was very good through all the visits to the temples, he also suggested few awesome places to visit, eat and take pictures. Arrin was profesional and friendly from the very beginning, he drove us in a very comfortable SUV that made the whole trip feel much better. Arrin was very detail oriented and considerate, we felt every experience and visit of the trip as something very positive, touching and every surprise and suggestion he did was a good addition to the trip. (And he takes very good pictures) The day couldn’t got any better for us, definitely recommending it to everyone, the tour to Chiang Rai to see the temples and asking for Arrin as the guide, you won’t regret it.

We had an amazing day with our private Driver Arin in Chiang Mai. This was an ok experience. To start, the driver wanted to pick us up at 9 instead of 8am. This was quickly resolved through WhatsApp messaging. Anan could not speak much English at all and this made our communication a little challenging. Other than that, things went smoothly for our family. For the experience that we had, we think we overpaid for the service.

Our guide (Otto) was great at advising us of sights to see and very flexible on the time to start, where to stop along the way, and when to return. We booked two days, one to drive to Pai, and the next to return to Chiang Mai. Otto helped us find nature walks, waterfalls, and places to eat along the way so we could see more of the countryside. It was great to get a bit removed from the bustle of Bangkok, or even Chiang Mai to see a different side of life in Thailand

Otto our driver was punctual, knowledgeable about the attractions in and around Chiang Mai and gave great advice on the attractions to visit. His van was very luxurious. Highly recommend.

Its great to take advantage of exploring a full day to see some further away things. We went from chiang mai to temple on the mountain, 2 other temples that way, up to sticky falls, stopped at an elephant sanctuary on way back amd still had 2 hours to spare. Van was very comfortable! We had a great day on this trip! We didn’t have much of a sense of direction, but the driver helped us pick out activities that were fitting for us. The car was brand new and extremely clean the Driver accommodated everything that we wanted to do and stop when we wanted to eat and shop etc.

My parents and I had a great full day trip with our driver Anan. He was very knowledgeable about the local history of Chiang Mai and the various temples nearby. The car is very clean and comfortable and we traveled at our own pace. We felt comfortable and at no point did we feel rushed. We visited many points of interest around Chiang Mai. Anan recommended a place for lunch and it had delicious food. He kept us entertained throughout our experience and was very caring towards my elderly parents. We will definitely be back and i highly recommend booking this experience.

We booked a private driver for 9 hours and shared a list of places we wanted to visit, while also mentioning that we were open to suggestions. He suggested visiting an elephant sanctuary, but we explained that we already had one booked later in our trip and were unable to change it. Our driver was very nice and did take us to a lovely Thai buffet and a butterfly farm, both of which were his suggestions and enjoyable. However, many of the other stops suggested throughout the day were tourist-focused shops or experience stores that were not of interest to us. At one stop, when we chose not to go inside, we were encouraged to take a look anyway. In the end, we were only taken to one of the locations from the list we originally provided, which was less than expected given the time booked. Overall, the itinerary did not fully align with what we had discussed in advance. If booking, I recommend you have a strict itinerary going into it.

We hired an English speaking driver with a private car from this operator with some reservation - it ended up being a truly wonderful experience and money very well spent. After spending hours looking through Viator, Klook and GYG listings I decided to go with this option because we wanted to customise a tour of all the places we really wanted to see, at a comfortable pace. This was definitely the right decision. After walking around the Chiang Mai town centre temples the previous day, my itinerary for this private tour needed someone to drive us around the province and outskirts of the city. Our tour included a Chiang Mai hotel pick-up, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (amazing!), Wat Pha Lat (missable), lunch at Dantewada Café (also amazing!), Sticky Waterfalls (definitely worthwhile), Coffee/snack at a cool place chosen by the driver, and then finally Wat Phra That Doi Kham (really gobsmacking theme park sized temple complex) and finally Mueang Kaen (Wat Ban Den). To start with, the driver Otto was always punctual, professional, and patient. He was very considerate to our needs and requests. More importantly, he was also always safe (this is a genuine worry for us - especially when hiring a private driver or a long distance taxi) and always made us feel at ease and comfortable. He shared many insights about the sites we were visiting and about life in Thailand generally… He was genuinely a delight to be around. At the end of that day tour, he casually asked us what we were doing over the following few days and asked about the places we intended to visit during our tour of Thailand generally… we told him we’d booked a private car and driver in Chiang Rai for following 2-3 days… Without putting any pressure on us, he offered to be our driver for that trip too.. we didn’t mention how much we were going to be charged for the coming 2 day tour in Chiang Rai - he asked us to give him our itinerary - he had a look at it then gave us a price that was extremely competitive (we were clearly about to be ripped off by other operators on GYG and Viator) so we ended up cancelling our other Chiang Rai tours and agreed to do our itinerary with Otto. For the following 3 days Otto continued to drive us everywhere we wanted to go to. Firstly he drove us from our hotel in Chiang Mai to our hotel in Chiang Rai (stopping over at any places we wanted to see on the way). Then over the following 2 days, he drove us to 14 attractions on our itinerary, in and around Chiang Rai (including the golden triangle). We had an amazing time and saw everything we wanted to see and more. Otto’s restaurant recommendations for lunches were also spot on! It really felt like we were travelling around with a local friend… he was always in good humour, considerate, reliable and very respectful. I cannot emphasise how wonderful this experience was overall and how convenient this trip was made for us. I would definitely advise anyone reading this to book without hesitation. Definitely ask for OTTO as your driver! (FYI: He’s the chap in the photo for this listing! )

We had a relax, and enjoyable diy touring experience in Chiang Mai with the help of our excellent, safe, and very good driver- Arrin. He helped us plan a more efficient tour destination and avoided getting stuck in traffic and crowded places due to their long weekend holiday. Our driver Crist was one of the best tour drivers/guides we've ever had. He created a customized experience for us, with breaks for food and advice on best order of the tour sites. We went to White Temple, Wat Huay Pla Kang, Golden Triangle, Mekong River Cruise, and Blue Temple. He provided great insight along the way and even got us a special one-on-one meeting with the artist who designed the White Temple. It was an incredibly memorable trip and I highly recommend Crist!

We used Chiang Mai Driving tours almost daily during our 1 week visit there. I can only give the company my best recommendations. They were timely, knowledgeable, safe driving and the car was always super clean and tidy. Arin was amazing! He was patient, kind and great at planning our day in Chiang Mai. He knew exactly where to go and what order worked best. We did so much in our time with Arin and it ended up being my kids favorite day. The van was very comfortable and he drove very safely. He spoke English very well.

Our driver, Anan, really made sure our day was action packed. We had a couple to-do's on our list and he made sure to hit those and also add in some upgrades on the way while also giving interesting stories and facts about the region. His activity suggestions far outshined any of the other activities from our list and he made the day a massive success. Communication was great, but still make sure that there is clear understanding of what you want to see and where you are going. He took extra pictures on his device and sent it to us and really put in a lot of effort to give us a memorable experience. After this day we realised we did not book enough time in Chiang Mai and will need to return.

My husband and I booked several days to tour Chaing Mai and Chaing Rai. From the moment we booked online to the time we were dropped off at the airport, we felt in good hands with Otto. Having the car made touring around a lot more relaxed than joining a group tour. It also made it possible to meet up with my husband and son at places, as they were on motorbikes.

Otto was excellent as driver and tour guide! He patiently took is to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle in about 12 hours and graciously took us straight to the airport to catch our flight back home after the tour.
