The tour guides were very kind and gave interesting information about the area. Both me and my friend are in no way professional level cyclists and the guide kept the pace to ours with breaks throughout to help.

We joined the Countryside Fields of Gold cycling tour with Trailhead and had a truly great experience. The route took us through peaceful villages, rice fields, and beautiful scenery. It was the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the countryside. Lek and Kom, our tour guides, were amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and always made sure we felt safe and comfortable. Even if you're not confident on a bike or you're a beginner, you’ll be in good hands with them. Highly reccomended.
A really well organised tour to the nearby rice fields with good quality bikes and excellent guides. A good mix of trail and quiet roads with some great scenery and an excellent lunch to finish.
We had a really wonderful experience with our guides Lek and Kom. They were nice and accommodating. The biking trail was a meal for the eyes. We would be delighted to come again.
This trip was amazing. The crew [Vivi and Kom] were professional , super nice and helpful. They looked after our group super well right from the start. They have fulfilled and surpassed our exception. We were looking for something to do out of the city of Chiang Mai and it did not disappoint.
The tour was very well organized and we were taken good care of. We were received by the cheerful and lovely Vivi at the hotel from the start. She and her colleagues accompanied us throughout the tour, and made sure all of us were safe and none were not left behind. Vivi and her colleagues including Lek were also very thoughtful and amazed us with ice towels, chilled drinks, watermelons and Thai snacks when we were sweaty and thirsty. They also brought us to a picturesquw restaurant after the tour where we had nice Thai food next to a pond and under the trees. The other good thing about the tour was that the vans that accompanied us throughout the ride were air conditioned and in decent shape. The bikes and the helmets were also in good conditions. As for the routing, we couldn't see the "fields of gold" because it wasn't harvest time but the place we went by was nice enough. We enjoyed every bit of it. We joined another tour the next day and that tour paled in comparison in every aspect.
We had a fantastic half day of biking through the countryside and rice fields 45 minutes outside the city. Our guide was KOM who customized our private tour to our preferences. Even at 75 years old, we could manage the trails and hills considering the temperatures were above 100F! We highly recommend Fields of Gold for a unique Thai experience!
My wife and myself booker rural experience route. But on the day when I told the guide that my wife was just beginner rider, he showed us alternative route with the short video illustration as well. So we can visualize what to expect. The trail was very enjoyable and relaxing. Along the way, the guide and driver prepared some fruits for us also for refreshment. Overall the trail was fascinating and the service was above and beyond. Highly recommended.
We loved our tour with Trailhead - everything was very well organised, the route was beautiful and the equipment was excellent. The route goes through rice paddies, some woods and rural villages, both paved and double tracks. We were kept well hydrated and well fed throughout the tour, and while it does require some basic level of fitness, the guide made sure to accommodate everyone's abilities. At the end there is an extra uphill bit you can do if you're up for the extra challenge.
The Fields of Gold tour proved to be an excellent day out. The scenery was lovely throughout, particularly when we reached a waterfall. The cycling for the most part was reasonably straightforward and not very technical but there were a few sharpish inclines to negotiate so a certain degree of fitness is definitely an advantage. Kom was a great guide and has sent me many photos and videos from the day. The bike used was an almost brand new Trek mountain bike in great condition. Overall, I would highy recommend the tour and Trailheads. This is the second tour I've done with them and would love to do another one day. Great value for what is provided.
it's was amazing, very nice trip with the bike. The organisation was perfect with everything (good bike, water, sticky rice and at the end they give us a coconuts, yami). the guide was very nice, helpfull and allways smiles. at lunch we went to a restaurant to have lunch with nice Thai food thank you very much for this day.
This tour is run by Trailhead, which seems to be a very good outfit generally. Their own description captures the tour very well. Bikes were well maintained (not always the case). Although we took the tour in early March, and the fields were not golden, the rice had been planted and the fields were a vivid green. The route is interesting from the point of view of scenery and a challenging bike ride as well. Perhaps not challenging for hardened mountain bikers, but certainly for recreational cyclists. My husband and I are in our early-ish 70s and bike a lot at home, this was perfect for us. The tour guide was careful to make sure that the oldies were not having difficulties while letting the (one) younger one speed up. There were a few places off-track where the route downhill was too rutted for me to be comfortable, so I walked. Lunch was in a beautiful spot by water, typically Thai (pad thai, green curry, a not typical mushroom dish) and plentiful. I highly recommend if this kind of thing is your thing. I would certainly use Trailhead for all cycling tours.
Great experience, the trail is manageable for someone like me, who rarely ride a bicycle. Lek, our guide is very friendly and cheerful. The bike provided is really light, the ride going uphill become much easier with their bike. Will definitely join them again for different routes when I revisit Chiang Mai next time.
Nice ride in the mountains with a capable and competent guide. Really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others that are fit enough to do it.
We love riding dirt roads and in rural settings. This tour got us out of town to see the countryside and up and down rolling dirt roads without the need for pads and single track craziness. Loved it and wished it was a bit longer! Easy going staff, good gear and a great day trip.
We were picked up from the hotel at agreed time. Our guides were friendly and professional. Bikes and equipment were good quality. Helmet was fitted at the shop. They asked us our height to match the right size bike when we booked. They supplied a snack and drinks. We rode through some beautiful countryside and villages. We finished off with a nice lunch at a restaurant with a lovely outlook over a lake before being dropped off at our hotel. Highly recommended.
I booked this awesome tour through our hotel (2000thb pp). The package included hotel pick-up and drop-off, bikes, helmets, drinks & snacks during the ride, amazing cycling guides and a delicious lunch at the end. There were only 7 riders on the tour + 2 guys cycling alongside us + 2 cars with extra guys in case of an emergency/ for snacks. The route was stunning and we travelled ~36km around rice paddy fields, banana plantations and villages of rural Chiang Mai. The tour guides catered to the needs of the riders, e.g. if people were slower, the second tour guide would hang back to make sure that person was okay. Trailhead suggested that this was a ‘mild’ ride. I think that a moderate level of fitness is required given that it is road and mountain trails with steep inclines and descents at times (in my opinion - I am NOT a seasoned cyclist). At the end of the tour, we were driven to lunch which was at this gorgeous restaurant which was a bit off the beaten path. All in all, give this cycling tour a crack if you want to see real Chiang Mai.
Trips takes a group of girlfriends to the gym and farm by mountain biking to catch a view outside Chiang Mai, breathe in the fresh air, sweat it with fresh coconut juice, and a delicious afternoon lunch before Trips ends.
Can only recommend the tour, even if you are not the hardcore mountain biker now. The rather moderate ascents and descents are really good for "normals", the guides adapt to the pace of the guests and are very nice. And if you really should weaken now, there is still an escort car (honest!!!) in which you could sit for the rest of the tour if you really run out of air. There is always enough to drink (is provided), backpack etc. you can transport everything in the car. The area we visited was beautiful. By the way, you don’t even have to take pictures because the guides take pictures as well as videos of you (you get sent over the internet later). We actually do bike rides everywhere we go, which was one of the best tours ever. By the way, you are also picked up from the hotel and taken back after the tour, which we found quite pleasant because you really don't have to worry about anything.
