A great afternoon. Picked up and dropped back to the hotel, with only 6 in our group. Satang first took us first to the market, and then we had a wander around their garden, where she explained the different herbs used in Thai cooking. In the kitchen we got to choose to cook a soup, curry and a stir fry followed by a Thai tea and mango sticky rice. Satang made this fun and entertaining. The dishes were plentiful and very tasty, AND EXTREMELY FILLING- DONT EAT LUNCH! Lots of laughs, photos, and recipe book as a keepsake. Will definitely make these when back in Australia
Mama Noi Thai Cookery School — 4.5 / 5 | Chiang Mai A fun and enjoyable Thai cooking experience in Chiang Mai. The instructors are friendly, helpful, and explain each step clearly, making the class suitable even for beginners. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it’s a great way to learn more about Thai ingredients, cooking techniques, and traditional dishes. A nice activity for couples, families, friends, or solo travelers. Overall, a very good cooking school experience and definitely worth trying while visiting Chiang Mai. #MamaNoiThaiCookerySchool #ChiangMaiCookingClass #ThaiCookingSchool #ChiangMaiThailand #ThailandTravel
Natty was our rockstar guide who showed excellent knowledge of Thai cuisine
I really enjoyed the cooking class at Mama Noi. The whole experience was lots of fun, the facilities were excellent, and the crew were fantastic. A highlight of my time in Chiang Mai—I’d happily recommend it!
Visiting Thailand with friends, we wanted to learn some basic Thai cooking since we all love to cook and sample various kinds of foods. A friend discovered this school from an internet website and we were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed our experience tremendously. With a hugely pick up (a little later than expected, but they did say that depending on the traffic they cannot promise exact time of pickup) and a visit to the local market where the person teaching the class identified and introduced us to various spices, herbs, roots and condiments used in Thai cooking, we were packed off into a van and driven to a farm a short distance from our hotel. There was a large hall where 2 sets of classes could occur at the same time. Three sets of tables on each side , one with place settings, one where we cut and sliced and prepped up the food, we learned to make traditional tom yum, rice, pad thai. Was so much fun. Beware the Thai chillies. They are way hotter hear than you are accustomed to. We then ate our cooked meal happily together!
The cooking class was held at their property with a beautiful garden, which was so pretty.. take lots of pics! Food portions are large, so come with an empty stomach. Our guide was great, and all you need to do is enjoy. For pickup, it wasn’t clear which car they were coming in as there was NO SIGN on the car. They should definitely put their name or some kind of sign on the bus…. Also, bring bug spray! We were happy we chose the air-con option too.
Our private tour with Kung was one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand! Visiting both the floating market and the train market gave us such a unique glimpse into local life. Kung was incredibly knowledgeable, shared fascinating history and cultural insights throughout the day, and had a wonderful sense of humor that made the experience even more enjoyable. She went above and beyond by taking so many amazing photos of us without us even having to ask. At the train market, she made sure we had the perfect viewpoint to watch the train pass through, and at the floating market, she guided us to some of the best local foods and vendors. The entire day was seamless, well organized, and exceeded our expectations. We left with wonderful memories, fantastic photos, and a much deeper appreciation for Thailand.
Worth paying extra for air conditioned room humidity extremely high in July
What a great cooking experience. I always think it’s gonna be complicated but they made it very simple and we got done with three dishes very quickly they were delicious ploy was fantastic
This exceeded our expectations- our teacher Ploi was so much fun and we learnt so much about the herbs, fruits and veg, spices and flavours of Thailand. We loved the kitchen garden too. It was all really fun and well run. And our food tasted delicious too … Thank you!
Everything was perfect. Very well prepared. Recipes tasted very good. Guides and chefs were fun and funny.
Beautiful setting, lush landscaping, clean, air conditioned learning/dining space worth the extra money. A tour of the food market as well as a hands-on tour of the gardens very educational. Our instructor was fun and knowledgeable, although she moved at a rapid pace. Dishes were all tasty and left us full. Recipe book was a nice gift.
We had the most fantastic time creating and then eating fantastic Thai dishes! Nook was our chef and she was so much fun!
Hands down, this is the best food we’ve eaten in Thailand, and we made it ourselves! The teacher, Nook, was fabulous and entertaining! We had such a good time, highly recommend!
Nice experience and great photos. Our instructor Ray was very cheerful and engaging and the site was very beautiful. We enjoyed our time there. The outdoor cooking area is shaded with lots of fans so it wasn't too hot even in the morning session.
We had a great time learning about thai cooking with Satang! she was a great teacher and kept the whole lesson fun. We enjoyed her humor and clear expertise. The support staff was great too. Everything was prepared for us so we could just have fun cooking. This was a great experience and we highly recommend it. We left stuffed and happy.
Great time! Loved the herb garden tour and it was fun to learn how to cook yummy Thai dishes!
Loved our time in this cooking class. Got to make some of our favorite Thai dishes from scratch—and they were yummy! Also loved our instructor Tida—she was fun and great at her job!
Right from the beginning, this was a great day! The driver arrived right on time, and got us to the market to join up with our guide/teacher, Satang. Satang was just amazing...she was funny, smart, engaging, and everything you want in a teacher, and how she remembered everyone's needs was awesome. I learnt a lot from her on this tour, including some ingredients I didn't know to techniques to getting the best out of them. The school itself was incredible, with several working kitchens and multiple tours happening all at once. They introduced us to some local flavours in their organic garden. We got to make 5 dishes allup, including dessert and the local drink, thai milk tea. I can't recommend Mama Noi's or Satang enough. My advice...just do it!
The entire afternoon was perfect, starting with hotel pickup by a red Tuk Tuk. First stop was a market, where our guide took us around to show many different ingredients we would be using in our dishes. We then went to the school and picked the dishes we wanted to make (3 plus Thai iced tea and mango sticky rice). Then, while the staff was gathering our ingredients, we took a tour of the farm with our chef, Chef Nook. She was both entertaining and informative. After about 15 minutes we returned to our stations to start prepping our dishes. 7 of us chose the upgrade to air conditioning- glad we did, especially with the mosquitoes. We chose a variety of dishes and Chef Nook walked us seamlessly through prepping each one. After the prep work was done, the cooking started. We made each dish with her helpful and enthusiastic guidance. Once we were finished (time flew), we sat down to our feast. It was so much food - might have been better to do the morning class for me as I’m not used to eating late (6:30 or so). After trying to devour our meals, Chef Nook walk us through making mango sticky rice - save room! It was delicious! The entire afternoon couldn’t have been better!
Really well organised experience from pick up to drop off. The gardens are lovely and there are two friendly tortoises. Staff helpful and friendly. All in all, a great way to spend a few hours.
Excellent guide, food, organic garden, market tour! School and cooking areas were clean, well-maintained and operation ran like a well-oiled machine. Efficient process, guide was funny and personable and we had a great time.
I loved the whole experience, well organized, transport provided, staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and the food we made was delicious. Definitely would recommend and do again.
I can’t recommend this enough! It was such a fun experience on a beautiful farm in Chiang Mai. I enjoyed the quick stop to the market on the way as well. I took many photos but also received several professional quality photos taken by our instructor, who was awesome. So is informative and energetic.. she made the whole experience really fun. This was definitely a highlight of my solo trip to Thailand!
A great cooking experience—lots of fun in a truly charming setting. Would definitely recommend. The recipe book is helpful too.
I’ve been to many cooking classes all over the world and this was by far THE BEST!! I wish I could remember the name of our teacher because she was SO much fun!! She had us all laughing and having a great time! The food we cooked was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed and beautiful. We learned a lot at the market, then in their organic garden as well. I can’t recommend them enough, and that’s saying a lot for me 😆 *We opted for the upgraded air conditioned room and it was so comfortable, even for me who Is hot all the time!
Excellent adventure! Our chef Nook made our experience fun. Would definitely recommend. Food was wonderful
Incredibly well organized cooking class with enthusiastic instructors. Every dish was very tasty. You can adjust the level of spice. We could not finish everything we made. I highly recommend this tour. Our teacher, Tida, was very helpful and could be a stand up comic
It was a great experience. We each made 3 dishes. The instructor made the process fun and easy. Didn't know how easy it was to make Thai dishes
This was an excellent way to spend half a day in Chiang Mai. Our host was amazing , educating us at the market and the onsite garden before starting on the meals. You can choose 3 dishes to make plus the dessert. If you are a couple you can make and try 6 dishes between you which we did. The instructions were clear, the process was fun and the results were delicious. A bonus was the booklet of all the recipes at the end.
I went in without any expectations and came out amazed. It was a lot of fun, I can highly recommend this class to almost anyone, you don't need to be a cooking enthusiast or knowledgeable in (Thai) cooking. The class is very engaging from beginning to end: The ride with the iconic Songthaew, visiting the local market and trying rice waffles, walking around the farms garden, feeding the turtles, cooking the three different meals + Thai tea + mango rice, and of course eating the meals. The location is very beautiful with a lot of decorations (including Lanna lanterns of course :D), especially in the evening. But I think the best thing were the people there, they were all very fun and friendly. The instructor was awesome, she did a great job at explaining and was full of interesting site facts. I wouldn't have thought that a cooking class can be this much fun, but now I would even say that it is a must do for any Chiang Mai visit!
Highly recommend this cookery class. Great instructors/chefs. Delicious food at end of evening
So fun and tasty! Had a very kind and energetic chef instructor who taught us about Thai food and guided us in making 5 different recipes. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing time at mama noi cooking class ! The staff was so nice and fun, it created a great mood between everybody. We got to cook 3 thai traditional meals, on top of thai tea and mango sticky rice. It was super fun, and then we all ate together and everything tasted delicious. I 100% recommend this experience if you’re looking to meet some people and lean a bit about thai food! It was a highlight of my trip to Chiang Mai.
Fun and informative experience. We made so much food which was delicious. Our instructor had so much energy and enthusiasm. We loved it!
A fantastic morning cooking 4 dishes and making Thai Tea. Our instructor was brilliant and the food was delicious and plentiful. A great value for money experience. Would highly recommend
This is a great experience for anyone interested in learning more about traditional Thai ingredients, Thai food basics and the main dishes of this culture. At mama noi they are very organized, they know exactly how to lead the activity and it’s enjoyable and really cool!
The experience was peerless. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who was hosting us but she was impeccable too. And you know what the craziest thing about it was? All of us thought it was one of the best meal we ate in Thailand this trip, which included Gaggan and some Michelin stars. I cannot recommend them enough.
Best experience! So much fun, food was incredible and the take home cook book just topped it off! The property is really cool to wander around as well with a couple of giant tortoise you can feed. This experience is one of my favourite things I've done on a holiday.
The most delicious and delightful experience! From tasting the herbs from the farm to mixing them in with the ingredients and serving up in a meal prepared by me. I loved every moment. The farm was beautiful! Now to follow the instructions in the cookbook received after class when I get home. I’m definitely making the sticky rice with mango and adding the butterfly pea in the rice for fun coloring.
Amazing experience! Super fun, insightful and absolutely delicious. Make sure you go hungry! All the staff are super knowledgeable and keep everything fun.
Thank you for an unforgettable experience and a really good time. Recommend to everyone who loves Thai food and is in to cooking.
Simply amazing! :) The dishes were excellent, and everything was explained in a way that even people without much cooking experience could prepare great meals. It was a lot of fun, and of course there was no shortage of good vibes. From start to finish, it was a wonderful afternoon — I can highly recommend it. Thank you for everything! :)
Did a cooking lesson at mama noi ,so much fun ,met some great people.absolutely amazing place . Thoroughly recommend mama noi .
Was an Amazing Cooking School and Organic Garden. Learned a lot. Clean and Fresh is the way to cook.
My husband and I loved the entire experience. Nook picked us up from our hotel and took us to a local market where she explained the various foods. At the cooking school, we smelled the organic herbs and vegetables. Ready to cook, we donned aprons and chose 3 dishes to make. Nook became a magician as she gave simultaneous directions to our group as how to create each dish. Everything was so organized. Not only did we eat our delicious meal, but we also made tasty Thai tea and mango sticky rice. Every second with Nook was entertaining and informative. I highly recommend Mamanoi’s Cooking School.
Really enjoyed this, the farm is fantastic and we got a great run through of what we would be cooking with before the session. Tida was a great instructor and let us know exactly what to expect from each dish. Would recommend!
One of my favorite days in Thailand so far! You get to stop at the market first briefly before and then have a tour of their beautiful garden and get to try lots of the ingredients that you get you cook with and get to adjust the dishes to your tatse. The chef was very energetic and enthusiastic:) and to top it all off you get to bring home a little cook book and take home whatever you can't eat. Their team was very friendly, organized and efficient with the way they ran things as well.
This was the best cooking class I have ever done. An absolute must do for anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Worth every penny and more. Out teacher Pam was incredible and the kitchen was set up really well. You really feel like you learn about Thai food and Thai ingredients. We even got to keep the recipe book the end of the experience.
