We attended as a family but was really set up for individuals with each person cooking their own food. Would have been better to work together as a couple/family. We also were requested to change into their uniform but it was so incredibly hot and when you are sitting next to a coal fire was too much. Food was good and instruction was helpful. Market and garden too was quite small and very crowded with other tours.

Great experience! Our 8 year old was right in there, making the dishes along side us. Roger was an excellent teacher and as our group was small (just our family), I really enjoyed talking to him about food, cooking, and life in Chiang Mai.
A must do. Do fun the food was wonderful and the environment was perfection
It's been over three months since we visited Grandma's Cooking School, but I felt the need to leave a review because we really enjoyed this tour. It's super fun, the food is delicious, and you learn so much about Thai cooking. I also mostly came here to shout out my girl Natalie because I am still constantly referencing what Miss Natalie taught me. She made the tour! super funny, informative, and welcoming, and really felt like she enjoyed what she was doing. Thank you for the amazing experience, Natalie.
Grandma’s Home Cooking School was one of the highlights of my time in Chiang Mai. From start to finish, the experience was fun, relaxed, and extremely well organised. The team were warm, welcoming, and full of energy, making everyone feel comfortable regardless of cooking experience. Instead of a market visit, we enjoyed a guided tour of the beautiful vegetable garden, where we learned about the fresh herbs, vegetables, and ingredients used in Thai cooking. It was a lovely, peaceful way to begin the class and made the whole experience feel very authentic. The cooking class itself was hands-on, easy to follow, and thoroughly enjoyable. Each step was clearly explained, with plenty of guidance throughout. The food we cooked was absolutely delicious, fresh, full of flavour, and very generous in portion size. It was incredibly satisfying to prepare multiple traditional Thai dishes ourselves. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. It truly feels like cooking in a Thai family home rather than a tourist activity. The kindness, humour, and passion of the staff make the experience unforgettable. I would highly recommend Grandma’s Home Cooking School to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. A wonderful way to learn, eat well, and experience real Thai culture.
Roger our facilitator learnt from his grandma and was super fun and knowledgable.Highly recommend the northern thai class where I hands-on cooked hang-le, khanom Krok and Northern Thai sausage among other things under the fun and expert guidance of Roger. Fun, enriching and rewarding.
amazing service, clear instructions, beautiful facility, and above all the food was delicious! i highly recommend this to anyone in chiang mai looking for cooking classes.
Really nice and fun. We have learned a lot about Thai cooking from the friendly staff, as well as the plants involved in That cooking
Take photos. And more photos. And more. And more. Omg this requires too many words. Wow. So much lol. Good time. Why is this asking so many characters.
Amazing experience. We did the Northern Thai cooking class. Different foods we would never have tried or made. Thai food is more than Pad Thai and we got to see it firsthand. We cooked over charcoal grills, made curry paste from scratch, and ended up making five very tasty dishes and then a quick dessert. Kiki was our guide and she explained everything clearly and was easy to follow. This place is so well organized from pickup to the cooking to the drop off. Also the grounds are beautiful and it’s really a pleasure to be there. Nice getaway.
We really enjoyed this cookery course. It was clean, fun, safe, interesting and probably the best food of our 3 weeks in Thailand. I would, however, point out that this is not a Grandma’s kitchen or anyone’s real kitchen. This is Thai cookery course Disneyland. It is still really enjoyable, but it is not real. You start at a market where a guide explains certain ingredients to you. It is a very clean, fragrant market. No chickens being strangled etc. Then you look around and everyone there is on a cookery course with their guide. No real customers in the “market”. The complex you are taken then to has 12 mini “houses” all with a petite vegetable garden. Each group does their cooking in one of the little fake houses. Surrounded by landscaped gardens. It is quite the operation. For English people, this is a village in the way that Bicester Village is a village. You will still enjoy it nonetheless and the pork based Lanna menu was terrific and fun to do with the mini clay pots and fire pits.

Grandma’s Cooking Class was probably one of the most memorable parts of our honeymoon. Our chef, Tay, was so friendly and great explaining every part of the cooking process. She made the whole experience extra fun! The food we made was AMAZING!!! Of note, you are also able to pay extra if you would like a beer. We had a private class and received complimentary personalized aprons through the travel agent we worked with. It was located 30 minutes outside of Old Town, but still highly recommend this company if you are looking for a top-notch cooking class in Northern Thailand!
We spent the morning cooking delicious local Thai cuisine in a beautiful setting. Ben was our master chef who guided us step by step through a culinary experience. It was so fun and delicious!!
We booked this last minute based on reviews and it didn't disappoint. A slick operation from the pick up to the drop off at the hotel. Started with a stop at the market to talk about ingredients. They gave us a very comfortable outfit to change into so our didn't get smoky from the charcoal cooking. A walk around the garden to collect some ingredients to begin the paste base for 4 of the 5 dishes we would be cooking. We cooked all 5 and then sat down to eat what we had prepared. Our chef, Tay, was brilliant. She had a very informative but fun style which we loved. Very professional. Highly recommend this day.
It was such a fantastic experience to us! We chose to find out more about Thai food and picked the one that introduced Northern Thailand / Lanna cuisine. We were picked up from the hotel on time. We first stopped at a market to get an introduction of the key ingredients. At school, Chef Best gave us a tour of the secret garden and we picked the herbs and vegetables used in the dishes. We also took the eggs from its chicken house to make the grilled omelette. We made Thai curry paste and sausages from scratch and cooked dishes in a traditional pavilion with charcoal stoves! Chef Best is really patient and nice. His instructions were clear. We have learnt quite a lot from Best, and the food was very delicious👍🏼 The ground is pretty, green, spacious and calm. The facilities are clean and set ups are good. There was a lot of food cooked and we enjoyed our food in the pavilion in front of the garden. You may want to pack away some or skip dinner! Highly recommended!
I really wanted to focus on Northern Thai food, and this class delivered. We started at the market, where everything was explained clearly. Then we traveled to the gorgeous campus and cooked over charcoals we lit ourselves. Our chef-teacher took us through the grounds to experience all the herbs that you can't find outside of this region. And we retrieved fresh warm eggs from the chicken coop for our omelets. We made a good many dishes, including packing our own sausages. We had a lot of gorgeous and intensely flavored food. Bring your appetite!
Such a unique day, cooking in the traditional methods over coals, and making a huge number of dishes. I really enjoyed the full-day experience because it gives you time to absorb and make things from scratch.
Very successful experience with Chef Best, who lives up to his nickname very well! It was delicious, very well explained, and magnificent. 👨🌾
The site is beautiful. They have a plantation for all the ingredients they cook with. Very fun experience
There's a small rice field here, a greenhouse for growing. Mushrooms, chickens and cats for cooking lessons They took us to the market first and taught us about the products that would be on our tables during cooking. I'm a vegetarian and a caterer and was a choice for both of us.
