One long but AMAZING day! Started off w a 7am pick up at the local Burger King attached to the “M Hotel” The 11 passenger AC van was comfy. Our driver and guide sat up front while the group of nine sat in back. I’m a 6ft 300lbs guy who sat very comfortably in the center seat… yeah no Tuk-Tuks for me HAHA! The stops are spread out pretty good so you are not spending too much time in the van. You are given about 45m at each location… it’s adequate for most but don’t waste it because it goes by QUICK. Hoping back in a AC van is pretty sweet too! All three temples, long neck village, hot springs and Golden Triangle Boat trip were great! Would have loved more time at White Temple though… feel like we had more time to eat then explore that area. Guide was very nice and spoke great English. Double check your tour package though. I was a last minute add as solo member and package did not match up. Was ask to pay extra $ for a couple entries which I did. Then I emailed my booking company which corrected the details over the phone and I was refunded the cash. Guide apologized profusely but I kept telling her it was no fault of hers and how was she supposed to know right. Thais are soo polite and sweet, it’s regretful she had to feel soo bad. Boat cruise was nice. I will say sit towards the back though… River guide talks the entire 50min ride… you don’t want be a near a speaker 😆! All in all just an amazing day! Ride back was long but the breakout up w bathroom stop. 100% recommend this trip… for $50 unbeatable ❤️ (my only criticism would be to have tour guides give the information right before a stop and then set folks free as to maximize the limited sightseeing time)

One of the few natural hot springs in northern Thailand, the Mae Kachan Hot Spring (Mae Ka Chan is so hot—reaching temperatures of 194˚F (90˚C—it can boil an egg in minutes, a feat that locals are more than happy to demonstrate. As well as cooking your breakfast, you can dip your toes in several pools.
Wat Rong Khun, perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a privately owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997.
Baan Dam Museum, also known to foreigners as the Black House Museum, is a mixture of traditional northern Thai buildings with unconventional and contemporary architecture, created by Thawan Duchanee.
Monumental, modern Buddhist temple distinguished by its vivid blue coloring & elaborate carvings.
Visit the Karen Long-neck tribe. A tribal village whose women wear stacked brass rings on their necks & sell handmade crafts.
Located in the far north of the province, the Golden Triangle is one of Chiang Rai's most famous attractions. Notorious in the past because of the opium trade, the Golden Triangle is the area where the borders of three countries converge: Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma). Take a boat trip on the watery domestics lined along the borders

good organization, complete with all entrances and lunch included, Chiang Mai is imperdible anb very beatiful………………
I already wrote a very lengthy review on Viator.com. It was a very very long day. Not sure why we stopped at the hot springs. We loved the White Temple and the Blue Temple. We found the Long Neck Village, the Black Museum and the Golden Triangle very interesting. Lunch was satisfactory. Our guide, Emmy, was friendly but needs a lot of training to be an excellent guide. Her function was more as a time keeper making sure we all returned on time. She gave us very very little information about the places we were visiting.
The places we went were great, but the bus was late picking us up. We did not get to spend much time in any one place which made it hard to enjoy our time. Example, we thought we were getting a full hour at the White Temple but was really less than 45 minutes because the lunch that was provided was a part of that time. Also, the tour guide spent so much time talking before letting us explore that it also cut into our time at each place.
Was it a long, long day? YES, definitely, more than 14 hours! Was it worth it? YES, definitely, because we got to see Chiang Rai, the White Temple, which was spectacular, the Blue Temple, which was beautiful, the Black Museum, which was interesting, and the Golden Triangle with the boat ride, which was very informative. The lunch, which was included, was satisfactory. Now, the guide, Emmie. E.mmie was amiable but, in my opinion, she made sure we were on time, but wasn't a true guide, who would explain fully each sight, and give us historical information. During the many hours of driving she had the opportunity to talk to us, but she slept. The driver was knowledgeable and efficient. So, in summary, long, long day, great sights to see, acceptable lunch and driver, and a guide who needs training as to what a guide should be.
Very enjoyable day, but very long, due to distance travelled. Our guide Apple was excellent, informative, helpful and cheerful.
Bad experience to start with: the van that drove us 8 hours there and back was worn, it no longer had shock absorbers, and the seats were uncomfortable. We felt like we'd been through a checker at the end of the day (back pain). Then the guide greeted us with a t-shirt that said "I HATE people." We were treated to brief and hasty explanations at the entrance to each site, with no escort during the visits. The meal was good. The meal was good and the sites were incredible, but the boat tour of the Golden Triangle is not worth the detour; 30 minutes of driving around in circles on the water without seeing anything exceptional.
What a great experience. From the Longneck village to the Golden Triangle with the immense White and Blue temples in between. What a day!
This is a nice tour but the drive is a lot so if you have the time, try to stay overnight in Chiang Rai to make your day easier. Yes you can sleep in the car, but the ride is super bumpy and it’s not easy to do. I also feel like looking back, it was better to pay the extra money and do a private tour. Everything felt rushed and there were certain things we may not be interested in and others took longer there so we’re forced to stay extra. They started us off at the Hot Springs, it’s nice but it’s just a small fountain thing and we stopped their for an extra 15 minutes for no reason. The White Temple is gorgeous, 100% worth the stop and NOT a tourist trap. Our guide was nice and even showed us the best places to get the ideal pictures. The food was average on the tour and it was cold, not a highlight for sure. The Blue Temple was our second stop and we were awed by the Buddha statue and of course the temple itself. It’s definitely not as crowded as the White temple. We had stopped in at a Karen village, it was nice to see and understand local culture but it felt like all of our tours made this one stop so if you’re doing multiple tours it’s gets redundant. We then stopped at the black temple which is actually a museum. It’s beautiful and they have a lot of different buildings to look at but we barely had time to checkout the main building. The art is interactive so if you scan the code you can watch it become 3D and move. They provide free wifi so that everyone can experience it. We then drove an hour to the Golden Triangle which is an awesome concept as you are at the point of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. But our guide was HORRIBLE. He kept making dirty rated R jokes and there were kids on board. For example, he said “everything is cheap in Myanmar besides the women.” It was really uncomfortable. He was so busy making jokes, that he didn’t even bother to tell us when we got to the tip of the triangle where all 3 connect. We only figured it out because the boat started to turn back. Horrible experience. Our viator guide gave us average information about each spot in the car but I honestly felt like it was fairly generic and a wiki search was better to truly understand the value of each of these stops. If you’re traveling to Chiang Rai and want to do a tour, I’d recommend you either go private or ask a local to set you up with a driver for cheaper as you’ll enjoy the experience a bit more. This way you can also include the Red Temple as tours either give Red Temple but then you miss Golden Triangle and White temple or you get white and blue temples but miss Red Temple.
Yes it's a long day. Start around 07.0p and back around 21.00. however how else will one see 7 beautiful stops as we drove from Chiang Mai right up to the Golden Triangle and the boarder of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos. Our guide was very good and gave a explanation on each stop. Lunch was a Thai set menu, loads of food and was very good. Cold water provided and a comfortable van for traveling. The drive back though long, was worth the days visits and we made a stop for dinner.
This trip should not be missed!! This was a full day trip that had so much to see, eat, do, discover, learn and experience. This was the best trip I found out of Chiang Mai. Worth every penny.
We enjoyed this tour. It was full on and a long day but worth it. Tour guide Manny was very informative and enjoyed her role. We had a great mix of people which added to the enjoyment. The stops were great. The long neck village was interesting and walk around was enjoyable. The White Temple was beautiful, but a little crowded. The Blue Temple was also pretty and the Black Temple museum was really nice and different and interesting. The boat trip was really nice and showed the where the Triangle of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos were sitting on the Mekong River. It was a really wonderful tour 😍 Thanks Manny for a wonderful day out.
Full day of activities. We were out almost 15 hours. Great experience but be prepared for a lot of time in a van. The white temple was amazing, the blue temple was beautiful, lunch was ok - buffet next to white temple. Long neck people - wow!! While it was touristy, it was an experience of a lifetime. Short visit but worth it. The golden triangle was neat to see but it was a lot of driving just to ride a boat for about 30 mins to see the borders. Overall, worth it, just be prepared.
This is definitely worth doing, yes it’s a long day but you will go everywhere! The spa and village break up the journey and the white and blue temples are fabulous, forget the images you may have seen, they need to be experienced. Our guide was very good, friendly, helpful with plenty of info, but if like me you prefer exploring on your own, he was not overly clingy so you get your own space. Highly recommended.
Nice trip! Temple visits were just long enough. Great lunch. Boat cruise was nice but golden triangle was not much to see. Karen village was interesting. This is a very long day we left at 6 and got back around 9:30.
Be warned and save your money. Should have researched more on this before handing over money and going. 9 hours in a van to travel up to Chiang Rai. You learn nothing that isn’t in the briefing on Wikipedia. Poor English by Fern. So the day First stop- side of road purpose built market selling souvenirs - not authentic village of longnecks- just an opportunity to sell. Then onto hot springs- which is in a service station- again selling wares Then first the white and then Blue temples- both new and not authentic- no history no reason for- just another money maker from tourists. Then the black house complex- again strange place- no history no explanations but plenty of stalls selling. Then the end stop-the golden triangle- dirty stretch of river- you go up and down in a boat and back. Then joy of joy 4 half hour trip back. Food passable-avoid you see no authentic sights and nothing of Chiang Rai history, culture, landscape
Although it is a long day, it is fully worth it. The sights and Temples are amazing and a must see. My only regret is, I didn’t tip the driver or the tour guide @Mit love your work and also the best driver in Thailand. Always felt safe and welcome.
I would call this more of a shuttle and less of a tour. The Long Neck Village, White Temple and Blue Temple were all very interesting but I found the other stops to be underwhelming. Our “guide” gave about a 5 minute talk about each stop then sent us on our way so I didn’t feel like I learned much. And the driving was incredibly unsafe - the driver repeatedly was going 140kmph in 70 zones and I felt terrified for the entire 4 hour ride back. I would honestly not recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn.
Great tour, saw a lot in such limited time. Great guide as well (Micha if I remember correctly). Recommend
My trip never happened because I was not picked up on the day of the scheduled excursion. When I called the main office, I could barely understand what was being said. With help on my hotel staff, I was told that they were looking for another driver. I waited for a couple of hours after which I got a call telling me that they are not coming
Good trip. Guide (Mi) was great. Driver was excellent. Trip was long..15 hours. Suspension on bus was not the best, felt every bump.
The excursion was great, we did and saw a lot of things for one day. The guide Smile and her assistant Mr Noi were very helpful.
It was a good trip. Truly enjoyed the experience. However the tour guide needs to be more well-versed in English. Furthermore, the water bottles were only offered to us half-way through our journey when we had already purchased our drinks. The agency should also be more sensitive to those who are vegetarians for lunch.
Two years ago I took a similar tour. I enjoyed that first tour. That tour included the hot springs, the white temple, a second red temple that was under construction (not very interesting)and the golden triangle boat ride. This tour was much more enjoyable because this Wendy tour added several places, i.e., the longneck village, the blue temple and the black house. (We did not visit a red temple). The tour guide was very knowledgeable and never rushed us. This tour was very long, approximately 13-14 hours but worth the time.
Was an amazing experience! Smile and the crew were amazing, helpful and great vibes! Saw a TON in one day, but they made it very enjoyable. Would recommend bringing your own snacks as I need to eat every couple of hours. The first stop at the hot spring has a small cafe where you can order croissants, etc and then theres a HUGE lunch provided with your ticket. On the way back we did stop for a restroom break and I got Wendys for dinner haha Highly recommend!
Trip was very intense. The distance was big to cover and the schedule was very tight. It is a good trip if you are in Chang Mai and have very limited time to visit Chang Rai area. Please take into consideration that due to tight schedule there is very limited time to visit some sights. Way back to Chiang Mai is very exhausting (4.5h) and driver drives really fast on dark streets so if you have any motion sickness it might be very rough for you. At times I was scared myself that we might go off the road due to high speed even though I do not stress easily while driving.
The guide was exceptional and got us from place to place while providing information for everything. The Temples and Black House are incredible sights to see even with the huge crowds at them. The other stops are fine for what they are. If you book this be prepared for a long, long day. From pick up to drop off for us was nearly 14 hours.
I would never book this tour again. We were picked up on time in a van. Despite the listing stating only 10 participants, there were 11. This is problematic because the van is very small and uncomfortable. We had less room in the van than every coach flight we took in Thailand and from the USA to Thailand. It was terrible. Then, the drivers was driving so erratic that we were seriously concerned for our lives. We began messaging with the tour provider within minutes of being picked up. Iknow drivers in Thailand are not like drivers in the USA, but this was scary. He almost hit two cars and one was head on. At that point, we began requesting to be off the tour. We did not know if we'd survive the 13 hour tour with the driving. We stopped for 30 minutes at a hot springs. The tour guide knew we wanted off the tour because we'd been requesting it. So, they left us there. They didn't tell us that no taxis will come there. After an hour of trying to get a ride back to Chiang Mai, we spoke to an English speaking tour guide from a different company. She was very helpful, but told us taxis don't come there. She asked the driver of her tour to take us to the local bus stop, but the bus wasn't operating. So, we ended up on the local transport trucks to Chaing Mai. It was an adventure but not one we wanted. When I told all this to the tour operator, they refused to give a refund "because the tour had started." I wouldn't have known the tour was good terrible until it started. So I went to Viator. To my shock and disappointment, Viator sided with the tour operator and refused to give a refund. I have been a customer of Viator for over a decade and never requested a refund. They have lost me as a customer. I was willing to pay a premium for these tours because Viator would protect customers. Without that guarantee, they are worthless to me.
A must do the temples where just amazing to see in person. Only downfall that It truly took 14 hrs. But other than that it was great. Got to see everything I wanted to see and it was well planned out. We had plenty of time to roam around before having to meet back up to head to the next location. Highly recommend if you got the time.
The long neck tribe was the most memorable and amazing experience! The temples were interesting, the boat trip also a load of fun! Our tour guide Apple was the best! My only suggestion would be to ditch the black museum to make the day not as long. As nice as it was, I felt it a little unnecessary.
This tour was excellent! My tour guide, I think her name is Amon was helpful and knowledgable also managed the time very well. I was able to do 99.5 % things in chiang Rai from Chiang Mai I enjoyed the long neck village and I did alot of my shopping here if you like to collect figurine's, unique design scarf different beautiful colors. And you get to stop at the hot spring soak your foot in. And . This tour is a full day and you get back around 6pm or 7pm. Also, if you sit In the left side you’ll be able to get a lot of great pictures of temple that be on the hill. The drive have a lot of hills and swirls. For the golden triangle it was great experience on the boat. And learn about the near by countries but, we didn’t get to high point where the beautiful 2 elephants and the golden Buddha or the sign that popular sign with the triangle area at top.
Fern and Mr Moon gave us a great day out... Yes, it was long, but we knew it was going to be, and we saw so many wonderful things, it made it worthwhile. Everything we saw was an interesting stop, and all quite different experiences from each other. A long enough time at each stop which broke the trip there up, and a nice nap on the way home. Well done Fern and Mr Moon 👍
It is worth the money. Tour guide let us explore while explaining things related to tour sites. Good arrangement of visit although many sites to be visited.
Temples were nice to see, as was the long neck village interesting insight, boat trip to golden triangle was a little disappointing, all in all worth doing however just remember it’s a long day travelling left hotel picked up 7am arrived back 9 pm
Our guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful (10/10). The temples are fabulous, however, they are very much geared towards tourists and are a more recent temple experience. I, personally, prefer the more historic and authentic temples. The black house and Baanam museum were excellent and I’m looking forward to exploring the interactive paintings a little more. The Karen long-neck tribe is a fabulous experience as is the historic insight into the golden triangle and boat trip.
We had a compact day visiting 5 attractions. We had just the right amount of time at each site for us to explore on our own. The tour guide was okay but he stayed on schedule. The driver was excellent, same as the one we had for the Doi Inthanon tour.
Highlight was the White Temple, definitely. However, for such a long drive, I would recommend that Viator pay more attention to ensure that the vehicle is well adapted and comfortable. The tour was full (12 people) and my seat was in the first row, about 30 centimetres from the side door, with no arm rest. Therefore I had to spend my whole trip stretching my arm to hold on to the inside of the door, for fear of falling off my seat. The road was sinuous and the driver was driving quite fast. In addition, the three of us in the first row had no leg room to stretch every now and then, ending up sitting with legs at a 90-degree angle the whole time. Finally, the only stop we had on our way back was to grab something at a 7-11, to get something to munch on, at 7:00 pm. Would recommend better control around the quality of vehicle and also to remove some places from the program (boat ride to the Golden Triange, Baandam Museum).
Great experience, our tour guide MNM was terrific. It's a long day but well worth the adventure . The day was very full. Starting at the hot spring, then the villages white, blue and black house and finishing in the golden triangle
Great experience.. Everything was as per schedule. But there are little scope of improvement 1. Journey start at 7am. So it will be better if breakfast served while travelling 2. Lunch was not good at all. 3. Seat should interchange between traveller while travelling.
Wonderful tour guide. As a solo traveller he made sure to take pictures of me at the different stops. So kind. It was a wonderful day but long. Can’t be helped due to how far we had to go though. Perhaps a more comfortable vehicle would’ve made it better. The highlight for me was visiting the village of the long neck Karens. So interesting learning about the culture and history.
It was a very good but also a very long day. Be prepared for that. You stay just a little time everywhere but you get to see a lot.
Great Tour! A full day packed with activites. Good guide and driver. The driver is only allowed to drive limited hours per day/trip by law and he managed the time very well on an extra long day. Like the convenient pick up and drop off from my hotel.
Despite the considerable three-hour drive, the trip is incredibly rewarding! We explored captivating sites such as the White Temple, Blue Temple, Black Museum, Karen village, and the golden triangle. If I were to make a small adjustment, I might skip the Black Museum and allocate more time to fully immerse ourselves in the enchanting White Temple. Overall, I highly recommend this tour :)
Good trip. Good sights. Guide needed to be reliable as he seems to have gotten inebriated around half day and substitute guides had to take over
I’ve booked a full day trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai group tour includes Boat Trip and Longneck Village on Dec of 2023. I’ve paid $72.15 USD for this trip. After some investigation I found out someone combined me with a group of tour that costs less than $72.15 USD. (around $57.00). 1) The duration of each attraction point is shorter than what it has descripted in the TripAdvisor website (What to Expect session) 2) I’ve asked several people in my group they told me they only paid around $57.00 USD. I attempted to request a partial refund via the Tripadvisor webstie, the told me they cannot not help me out.
Great trip, saw all the sights we had planned to, was a bit of a long day however. Would recommend a shorter trip if leaving from chiang mai
There was big mix up so it was very frustrating at first however they accommodated us and we got a differ t tour but it was still great, long day too
Great sites and tour guides, enjoyed it a lot The temples were amazing and overed a lot of area, given the boat trip on the Mekong river opposite Laos & Myanmar/Burma Cheers Dave Walter
This day trip is extremely long (14+ hours), and Wendy Tours does absolutely nothing to make our day pleasant or more comfortable. To be fair, one of our complaints is that in our opinion, none of the sites we saw were worth 8+ hours of driving, but the van all 10 of us were crammed into was old and very uncomfortable. I was in the front where the air conditioning vent literally fell apart as I tried to adjust it, my husband was 4 rows back with no headrest and an AC vent with no cover. The suspension was horrible and the seats left our butts numb and backs in a world of pain. Our tour guide was nice enough but difficult to understand. She didn't give us any key info about each site or even walk us around the temples, literally just told us we had 40 min and to meet back at the van. We felt rushed and completely uninformed - everything I learned was from googling. Another thing we didnt realize until we arrived (our fault for not being diligent when booking) is what the Long Neck tribe visit is, and when we arrived we felt it was ethically questionable. It is not clear the women (who are on display like zoo animals) are given the entrance fee directly. Again, if our guide had explained anything well to us or answered our questions properly, we might feel differently. The boat tour at the golden triangle is a waste of time - you dont see anything you cant see from the buddha viewpoint. The PA system was set so loud my apple watch told me 30 minutes at that decible would lead to temporary hearing loss... The major issue was food - we were picked up at 7:30 am, most of us had food at our hotels, and were then forced to have lunch at 11 am, right after our 3.5 hour drive to Chiang Rai. This was our only meal for the entire day -- and we got dropped off at 9:45 pm. Most of us desperately grabbed bags of chips and cookies at the last stop before starting the 4.5 hour drive back. 3 hours later, they finally stopped at a snack store with nothing but nuts and dried fruit (clearly a store they've cut a deal with to bring tourists to). In a country like Thailand, where delicious street food is abundant and you have to work hard to have a bad meal, we were extremely hungry and annoyed they couldn't have made a stop elsewhere, even if we had to pay on our own. And also not give us lunch at 11 am!
Took the trip on 3 December 2023. My guide has a nick name Oi and I forgot the driver’s name (it’s an English name). The first 1-1.5 hours of this trip is to go around the city fetching bus mates. Highlights: - White temple (beautiful but warm and touristy) - Blue temple (a real temple and in my opinion, more refreshing than white temple) - long neck Karen village allows me to interact with their rings and “Karens” up close. - Golden triangle boat trip is nice because we can see no man’s land up close and skirt the boundaries of 3 countries. Passable: - Black house/Daandam doesn’t vibe with me. Art pieces which can be fierce and dark and many old houses and artifacts. - Hot spring is nice but given the time allowed, you cannot enjoy the hot spring fully. But it’s not bad. After finishing the itinerary everyone has to endure a 4 hour ride back to Chiang Mai city centre with one snack/ toilet stop in between. Can be quite claustrophobic for some. Please bring some snacks along, sunscreen etc. To send everyone back in time, the driver has to skillfully negotiate the bends (a lot along the way) and drive at about 90-100km per hour. I appreciate that. Guide Oi has a not-so-good command of English but she is warm and will attempt to answer your questions and fulfill your requests. 5 stars for my bus mates from USA, England, Spain and Singapore! 3 stars for the long ride which is unavoidable - we want to cover as much as we can within a day so as to have more bang for our bucks. Can skip Chiang Rai after this tour.
