We had a great time on this tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job sharing the history of the temples and the local culture. Seeing Doi Suthep and Wat Umong at night was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Itinerary
Depending on your accommodation location, you will be picked up between 4.30 and 5.00 PM, between 4.40 and 5:10 PM, or between 5:10 and 5:40 PM. Visit Wat Umong. This temple set in the forest is completely different from other typical temples, this one is built inside a tunnel. Enter the tunnels of Wat Umong and see the impressive Buddha images. It doesn’t matter what religion you have. When you go inside the tunnel, it whispers to you the secrets of this world and the old history of this temple built in 1297.
Visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, one of Chiang Mai’s most revered and iconic temples, located on the mountainside at approximately 1,056 meters (3,464 feet) above sea level. A popular Thai saying goes, “If you haven’t seen Doi Suthep, you haven’t been to Chiang Mai.” This reflects the temple’s importance as one of the city’s most beloved cultural and spiritual landmarks. Admire the magnificent Lanna-style golden chedi, beautifully decorated with engraved gold plates, and enjoy panoramic views of Chiang Mai city and the surrounding countryside. Visiting Doi Suthep at night offers a magical experience, with the illuminated temple and spectacular city lights creating an unforgettable view of Chiang Mai.

Interesting tour. Would have liked more time at Doi Suthep. Guide was very helpful and knowledgeable.
What a lovely few hours! Our guide, Matt, was quite informative and was at pains to teach us (mostly non-Buddhists) about these beautiful and fascinating temples, and the history and various symbols to be seen. You should know: There are still several steep staircases at various points, even if you choose to take the elevator to the top of the hill at Doi Suthep. You will have to remove your shoes at a couple of spots. And you should dress appropriately for the temples -- covered from shoulders to knees at minimum. Matt gently mentioned that while men are allowed to wear shorts, it is more respectful not to. And I'm sure all visitors will want to show respect at these areas which are so important to the Thai people.
I was picked up from the hotel on time. Our guide New was great and very helpful. The evening view if the temple was breathtaking.
It all felt too rushed to me. 3 hour tour was really only 20 minutes at 1 temple and 20 minutes at the second temple. The rest of the time was spent in the van picking people up and dropping them off at various hotels.
This is a good choice for a first day activity. .Especially if you have arrived from another time zone and want to stay awake to help adjust. Our guide was entertaining and friendly. There was space to walk around and even a place to draw cash if you don’t have a chance. the view at night and no crowds make this a pleasant tour.
Enjoyed visiting two of the more unique temples in Chiang Mai. Total round trip transit time is approximately 1 hr - 1:15 hr. Tour paced by group, if affordable, I recommend private tour as group behavior makes or breaks experience.
Mew explained everything so clearly and professionally, she took really good care of everyone during the tour, highly recommend.
A great tour! Our tour guide was very attentive and very knowledgeable! We are in our 80’s and were well taken care of! The road to the top of the mountain was steep and curvy however our driver was 🤩 amazing! Thanks for a great experience and memories ❗️
It was an incredible evening. Nenew our guide, was so kind and respectful. She helped us understand a lot about Buddhism and Thaï culture. We went as a family, 2 adults and 1 young teenager. Our teenager loved the experience, which it itself gives you an idea of the nice evening we spent😊.
Great value. Reliable driver and guide. Lovely experience to enjoy the temples during the night, which is totally different from what you can say in the daylight. However it can be a little bit confusing when they travelling around in the old city to pick up different customers. And the mountain road trip can cause you dizziness.
Excellent. We were collected from the hotel on time. Our guide, Mat, was excellent and taught us a lot but not in a dull and lecturing way. He was always happy to answer questions, take photos etc. I would recommend this tour! Thank you Mat!
Highly recommend. Our tour guide. MATT, was excellent. Knowledgeable on Wat history and Buddism. Additionally,.he went the extra mile to accommodate his customers. 5/5
Wonderful time of the day to see the temples in the cool and the evening light makes for great photos. Highly recommend this tour.
Guide was well-spoken, but with the historic and cultural explanations on the lower side (feel free to ask though). Temples were stunning (especially Wat Doi Suthep after nightfall). Keep in mind though that if you stay in city centre or further east, the pickup itself is going to take a while.
Transportation was in a full bus, with 12 total guests. Bus had AC and was ok - nothing fancy and seats not super comfortable. Our guide was Yo-yo and he was kind, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tunnel temple was ok. Nothing fancy and just 4’of 9 rooms accessible due to renovations (but all are the same). Wish we had brought bug spray to this stop! Lots of mosquitos. Wat Doi Suthep was spectacular at night. View of Chiang Mai old city was ok. It was about 35 minutes to/from the 2nd temple each way so transportation provided by this tour was well worth it. Not much to learn about either temple, so basically all about rhe views. For the money this was a worthwhile tour.
The experience itself was great. We did not love the tour guide. Recommend the night timing, especially in summer.
This was our first night in Chiang Mai, and was a nice way to get a grounding in the local history. The views from Wat Doi Suthep at sunset were fantastic, and we enjoyed the pace.
Great way to see two out of town temples when less crowded. Benefits from being cooler than the heat of the day. Very informative guide
This was a lovely experience visiting two temples in the evening. Due to the timing, we were able to see the temples in both daylight and then at night. Our guide was also very knowledgable and provided a lot of information about the temples and also Chiang Mai’s history. She was also very accommodating when people asked to be dropped off around town instead of at their hotel.
A must do trip whilst in Chiang Mai. Amazing to take trip in the evening whilst lit up.
This tour is amazing if you want to experience these temples at night and learn more about Chiang Mai’s culture. Our guide was amazing and make sure we were getting the local history of the places we visited. At the end of our trip we left one of our belongings in the van, when we contacted the tour guide, she made sure it was easy for us to collect it later.
The trip was great and well worth it, however couldn't understand a word the tour guide said which washelped by the fact she wore a mask. Also the transport was very hot and driver seemed reluctant to turn up air con
Great value for money. Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Saw some great sights.
Beautiful in the evening. Our guide New was lovely and very informative. Driver Max was great in the curves going up to temple. Nice experience.
Tour guide was very professional and seems to enjoyed talking about the history. Just FYI if you get motion sickness recommend taking some meds up the mountain ride it was Rollercoaster ride lol
Fantastic tour, great guide and driver, saw the temples in the cool of the evening, wonderful and beautiful
Great trip & very educational. Lovely to do something in the evening. Matt was very knowledgeable & helpful.
Great guide, knowledgeable and provided insightful history. Comfortable transportation, incredible views.
It was a really interesting tour to two very different temples. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the guide, but he was excellent. He told us a lot about the temples, their history and meaning, and he also told us on a very personal manner about buddhism, the beliefs and customs. The view over the city and the temple were really beautiful, and as we were the last people at Doi Suthep that evening, it was so peaceful, and you could really concentrate on the place and it’s meaning.
We were a small group of twelve with our guide Ying and driver. Evening was a cooler time to visit the temples and Ying shared a lot of very interesting information about the temples and the people and communities that established them and Chiang Mai in general. Well worth taking this tour as the temples are fascinating and the view of Chiang Mai is stunning. Friendly, informative, relaxed. Thank you
The temples were amazing and the tour guide was very informative. Will recommend to visit. The drive was also very scenic
This excursion was such a great experience. It was both fun and informative, with plenty of interesting details that made the place come alive. The highlight for me was the nighttime view—absolutely breathtaking and worth every moment. I left feeling enriched, energized, and grateful for the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a mix of learning and beautiful scenery.
Our host, Noodle, was absolutely charming and knowledgeable. We had a lovely trip to the market and then cooked and ate way too much food
The Doi Sethup Wat was extremely impressive. The tour guide was very sweet and helpful. The only negative was the very winding road going up to the top of the Wat.
Matt was a good host and walked us to the two temples. Great photos of Doi Suthep and city view in the evening. It's 3-hours so there's not a big time commitment. Note, by the time we got up to the mountain top, it's after sunset.
Incredible temples, driver was friendly. The drive up to Doi Suthep was very curvy so maybe bring some meds if needed. The view from the temple was incredible, especially seeing the city at night. Everyone staying in Chiang Mai should experience this. 10/10!
Touring the temples in the evening and at night provides a different atmosphere and vibe to the whole experience. Our tour guide Chris was knowledgeable and kind. He gave us a lot of details about the locations that we saw, showed all the different parts of the temples, and warned us about the bats at Wat Umong, and even took pictures for us at various locations. Chris was even nice enough to offer a ride to 2 international tourists stranded by their own tour bus, and it was already past 8pm when the temple closed and no taxi would come up the mountain. At the end of the tour, he offered to drop us off at our hotel or the Sunday night market, a lot of us chose the night market option as it was Sunday.
Really great experience. Best time of day to see Doi Suthep. Absolutely beautiful views and the Pagoda lit up had people back home oooohing and awwing over my instagram. Absolutely wonderful tour guide. Knowledgeable and so nice. Picked me up at my hotel and then dropped me off at the Sunday night market at my request. Tour long enough to see what I wanted to see but not so long as to be exhausting
From departure in Chiang Mai to return, everything worked as described in the advertisement. I Recommend this tour....
This was an excellent interactive day from the start. Paul our guide spoke clearly and was informative. Loved the ability to actually walk up the sticky waterfall and then later experience seeing and being with the elephants in their habitat and not in a zoo. We went with our two teenage children 15 and 17 and both loved it as well.
Very good value to take this activity. Learned a lot of Thai Buddhist history and current trend. We did not climb to top of Doi Suthep temple by foot, but cable car let us go top with ease and enjoyed spectacular view. Strongly recommended to any tourists to Chiang Mai.
Amazing experience. Expertly executed by a very knowledgeable guide. You can for paying 20 B. and take the cable car so as to avoid climbing the 300 steps.
This tour was great, not too much of a time commitment but still long enough to explore each site a while, take in the views, and take some photos. After going to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep during the day (not part of this tour), it was really a neat experience to return at night - very different. And Wat Umong was really interesting and beautiful as well. Our guide gave us some info about each site - I do think it could have been nice if he gave more info during the drive instead, but it was all adequate. Overall I'd recommend this tour if you are interested in temples! 😃
Was a great tour. Yoyo was a fabulous, knowledgeable, and energetic guide. The two temples were very cool at night, some gorgeous photos and views. Tara was a smooth and safe driver, especially on the windy mountain road. Would recommend this tour. Staff was also helpful in scheduling a meeting place. They picked me up at my hotel even though it wasn’t on the list of hotels on the booking. So nice!
It was an enjoyable evening trip. Yoyo was very helpful. I would recommend the tour. Thanks team for the trip. I would recommend this
The temples are beautiful at night. Be careful not to awake the sleeping bats. The nighttime tunnels seem very mysterious and made going at night so much more interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all questions with great details and adding some stories to better highlight some areas of the temple campus.
Is one of the must do things in Chiang Mai among another 10 beatiful places to visit in this amazing city
Great opportunity to have a night tour to see places lit up and quieter than in the day time. Especially seeing the viewpoint over the city lit up at night was a highlight. Our guide was very enthusiastic and helpful taking photos and answering questions. Would recommend.
The pick-up was good, though slightly later than scheduled, which was ultimately fine. Our guide immediately introduced himself and the driver and provided a helpful overview of the day's itinerary en route to our first stop. The guide was very friendly, highly informative, and clearly passionate about his work and his deeply held religious beliefs. We welcomed and appreciated him happily sharing his extensive knowledge. The only disappointment was the drop-off: we were taken to a central location about a 10-minute walk from our hotel, instead of being dropped off at the original pick-up point. Despite this slight inconvenience, I highly recommend this tour.
