Chiang Mai Day Tour: Chiang Dao Cave And Hill Tribes

Very beautiful rural Thailand. Visiting the hill tribes in theire own homes. The tour is situated in the mountains and between the rice fields.

My guide Saman was very informative and happy to go into depth on things I was curious about wether it related to the tour or to Thailand and Buddhism, and he a very unique way of explaining things. The driver was also very likeable and charismatic too. The caves were super interesting and also seeing how the tribes live.

I was very lucky to have a private tour, as there weren’t many tourists during the low season. Saman and his driver are very friendly people with big hearts, and I felt more like their friend than a tourist 😊 Saman speaks really good English and told me a lot about the local villages we visited, the orchid garden, and Chiang Dao Cave. His knowledge of everything is exceptional!

Absolutely the best experience! The guide G. Bright was wonderful and very helpful. He shared a lot of knowledge on culture and history and made sure to check my comfort level before any activity.

Our guide, G. Bright, was extremely courteous, attentive, and well-spoken. He personally came down every time to pick us up and open the van door for us. He never rushed us and gave ample time for breaks/washroom use. His explanations were clear and he was happy to answer any questions. Especially in the cave, he made sure to highlight the significance of certain attractions and rocks, which we found very interesting. He clearly cared about our satisfaction and we are happy with our experience. We would highly recommend G. Bright to other travellers!

Enjoyed the Tribe visit and Cave Tour. Just that pick up and drop off only in old city, and we had to travel from Nimman area to the old city meeting point very early.

Excellent tour to very interesting caves with Bright and our Driver Kan, both cheerfully competent English speakers, who were happy to either engage or not, subject to our needs. Bright filled in with useful facts and figures, answered anll our questions and there were plenty of opportunities to stop for snacks and the toilet. The butterfly and orchid farm were a bonus and provided some nice photo ops. A very enjoyable day with two interesting people.

It was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see more of Thailand beyond the typical tourist spots. Our guide, Art, explained everything perfectly and showed us so many interesting places. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole day both fun and memorable. The highlight of the tour was definitely the cave. We explored narrow passages and learned a lot about Buddha and the history of the cave. It was an amazing experience and something we will never forget. Highly recommended!

Thanks to this tour, I had the chance to get to know the ethnic minority groups of Northern Thailand and visit their villages in person, gaining insight into how the local people live. Our guide Bright D.Kan gave very dedicated and thorough explanations, and warmly answered every question we raised. His extensive knowledge taught us so much.

We had an amazing trip. We really wanted to go to the more rural area of Thailand, which was exactly what we got. Our guide Jane was fantastic ! Trip was excellent . First orchid and butterfly farm . Then visited 4 different hill villages . So interesting . Beautiful scenery and learned about culture . Got to visit a home in one of the villages . Bought beautiful handwoven scarf . Then we had delicious casual lunch . Then we went to the sacred caves , which was so unusual and beautiful , and navigating the narrow parts of the caves was fun . Wear shoes with good traction ! If you can request Jane as your guide as she wss very enjoyable to spend the day with , knowledgable , fun and genuine person ! A delight 🙏

The trip was good, Jane our guide was great. She gave us a good overview of the local tribes and she had a vast knowledge of all the plants and trees. She looked after us very well, helped us order lunch and she took photos for us. The one thing I would mention is that in the description it doesn't say that there is crawling and slippery surfaces so make sure you have long trousers and comfy shoes to go into the cave with. The cave experience was amazing.

This was an amazing and beautiful experience through an extensive cave with beautiful formations. Also, it was cool to walk-through five tribal areas and be welcomed warmly. Beautiful rural country. Margaret the host was extremely pleasant, fun, and informative. Granted I was the only one on the tour but she made it very personal for me. Can not recommend highly enough!

I enjoyed very much today. with jane and driver(i don't know his name's spel,sorry,he can speak japanese verry well) Jane teach us, historical behind,flowers,plants of food,and so on. (TOUR's friends are also very kind,too.) Thanks to the two, I will come CHIANMAI again! thank you!

I went on this tour with my boyfriend, we both really had a great time, at first we visited a butterfly and orchidee farm, and then visiting the villages (they had different houses, languages, clothes and cultures, so worth checking all of them) and the cave was so beautiful, full of bats, few cave spiders aswell, I recommend this trip for everyone who like to learn more about different cultures and also have interests in caves, we had the best Guide - Jane and also Driver - Kan, both talk very good english, and they are very open and free, we loved them, very easy to talk to and we felt very welcome and included. I appreciate this tour so much, Khop khun ka 🙏🏽

I recommend very much such an experience. My today's guide Tik was one of the best guides I have ever met. He is very patient, kind, and considerate. I happened to have been the only tourist that day and very much enjoyed being a passenger princess the whole day. Tik told me a lot about local tribes, nature, education, climate and pretty much everything I could ask about. He took time to make pictures, give advice or show best angles for photos. S rating

The cave was magnificent and well worth the long drive there. Saman took really good care of us and offered a lot of information on the sights and the villagers. Kan is a courteous driver.

Honestly, this was the best tour so far. Tik was an amazing guide who shared so much about Thai culture and of the Budhist religion with us. The visit to the villages was fabulous. I highly recommend this tour if you want to simply get a sense of the off-beaten track of Thailand culture.

Did the Chiang Dao cave and 5 hill tribe villages today. Great trip, the 5th village didnt want us to visit which was fair enough so we didn't go. Had a lunch stop which was so cheap. The caves were fascinating but a little claustrophobic at times. Our guide G Bright & Driver Tam were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Would recommend 👌

The place is definitely worth visiting, especially the surrounding villages. It was great to see how local people live. The walk is easy and perfect for a relaxed morning. We took the easy path to the cave, which was very quick and straightforward. Our guide was excellent, very friendly and informative,and explained everything clearly while sharing interesting insights and information.

We had a great experience with pur guide (mr Bright) and our driver (Mr Tam). A full day visiting villages and the caves around the cave. These guys give a big help to us to enjoy the visit and to spend a good time in Thailand. Absolutely suggested!

If you expect and enjoy pristine, clean caves, this isnt for you. Not quite what we expected, painted and decorated walls, statues, crowds (crowds!) heat and humidity from all the kerosine lanterns, and everything covered in black soot and carbon from said lanterns. And of course the cave guides all but demand to be paid. The butterfly farm was a non event, a few butterflies up at the roof. Very disappointing. The orchids however were spectacular, beautiful. But most disappointing was the "Five Hill Tribes." We visited one tribe only and were continually harrased be women following us around asking us to buy. To visit another tribe our guide wanted extra money - that's not what the itinerary said - bit of a scam going on. One tribe, not five.

Lovely sites with cooler weather. The cave was a tourist cave with lots of great features. Highlights were the cave features, hill tribe market, and the sights of the countryside. The guide was engaging and entertaining.

Best daytrip so far with Jane & Kan (the driver). I feel like it was family moment. I recommend this tour if you want to go out of the crowded tour and want something more local and not scripted at 100% ! Worth the penny. Thank you !!

Booked the tour for a Monday, turned out to be the only participant. Already 5 stars for not cancelling the tour because of that. Itinerary was smooth and well timed. Guide G.Bright& Driver Kan were entertaining and educating. Cave tour was definitely the highlight, can not recommend going for the deep exploration enough. Really good value for the Money!

The tour was amazing with Saman. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and had a great personality. The views throughout the hill tribe villages were spectacular and the people were very friendly Our driver was also great even as someone who often gets travel sick.

With Amy, or Emy, our guide, trip was very educational! She explained the herbs and leaves we saw along the hiking trail, their medicinal and nutritional values and importance. We learned about fruits and varieties , they are the same fruits but of different kind. Made us smell the herbs and their uses, etc. She never got tired talking interesting facts!

I had a brilliant day on this tour. Tik, our tour guide, was outstanding. He was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly insightful throughout the entire experience. He explained everything clearly, made the journey enjoyable and shared details about the places and local culture that I would never have known on my own. I really appreciated how patient and attentive he was from start to finish. A genuinely great guide and a tour I would recommend to anyone. I wish next time the door in the cave is open! Haha!
