Tour guide Sunsunee and our driver, Sun (🙏🏻?) were fantastic hosts on this multi-faceted tour that extended to the area temples, Chiang Mai and Lanna Art/history, Buddhist art/symbols, and the open markets in the Old City. I highly appreciate and respect your hospitality and keen intelligence/knowledge, Sunsunee, in addition to your informal recommendations for lovely area treks that I hope to explore when I return to Chiang Mai next year 🥰🙏🏻

Itinerary
Known as the “Temple of the Big Stupa”, this 700+ year old temple – famous for its Lanna-inspired designs – was once the home of the much revered statue of the Emerald Buddha. After it was transferred to Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok, the Thai king donated a replica to the temple which still stands today.
A shrine named after the three founders of Chiang Mai
One of the more venerated temples in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh was built in the 14th century and is famous for its northern Thai designs and impeccable gardens.
A famous landmark for locals and visitors alike, it was once part of a high-bricked defensive wall that surrounded the city. Today, the gate is now a popular meet up place with a host of bars, restaurants, and hotels within walking distance.
The Silver Temple because of its ornate silver-colored designs.
Where you can shop local street food or produce, or check out the vendors and their wares before dropping you off at your hotel.

Very knowledgeable guide and a most enjoyable trip…
Our Tour Guide was Jackie. If you can, you should definitely ask for him. He passionately told us about the history of Buddhism, Thai culture and Thai People. The tuk tuk ride was a blast, and the Temples are just breathtaking. We ended our tour at a market in China Town and sampled many different foods. This part you do pay for, but at these markets the food is very inexpensive. I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Jackie.
Very informative tour. Sunny was our English speaking guide & she was very knowledgeable.
Great tour explaining a lot of Thai culture and talking about Buddhism It was fun to drive around on the TukTuk
Our tour guide katie was very kind friendly and knowledgeable, the temples had a lot of history and was really interesting
Amazing morning with Jacki our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, made our tour interesting and shared his own personal stories. He is also an amazing photographer and captured some wonderful pictures of me and my family! Thank you so much
Sunny was a great guide - very enthusiastic and seemed to really enjoy teaching us all about Chiang Mai and Lanna. She walked through a market with us, patiently explaining what everything was (without her, we could never guess on a lot of that!). It was kinda fun to ride in the tuk tuk - I was afraid for a moment that riding around in a tuk tuk in Chiang Mai would be like riding in a horse-drawn carriage through Central Park - but I have seen some locals in a tuk tuk.
This tour was very well organized and I got to see a lot of the highlights of Chiang Mai in a relatively short period of time. The guide was very knowledgeable and helped bring the sites to life.
Our tour guide was Jin. He was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and attentive. We learned a lot about the temples and Thai traditions. This was one of our favorite tours we went on. We went to the market last and he told us which snacks we should try. We ended up eating lunch with him and he explained all of the different foods. Excellent tour! Jin is the best tour guide!
We had a great day with our tour guide, Love. She was super knowledgeable about the temples and all things Thailand. The tuk tuk was fun to ride around in and all of the temples were beautiful. Some other highlights were making a custom silver bracelet at the Silver Temple & getting blessed by a Monk.
Amazing Chiang Rai hot spring first stop second stop the white temple, which was unbelievably beautiful so , the blue temple, which was smaller, but very impressive. We had an amazing lunch. our Tour guy Jeff was amazing. You’d be lucky to get him. This is a highlight of our trip.
Great insight into Lanna culture, history of Chiang Mai and Thailand! Also, really interesting insight into Buddhist religion and traditions. Jin was a great tour guide. Would highly recommend.
Nom was our guide and she was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, easy to understand and had a sense of humour. I highly recommend this tour.
Nom was our guide for this tour and she was fantastic. She is very knowledgeable, easy to understand and also has a good sense of humour. Our driver (sorry, can't remember her name) made us feel very safe with her impeccable driving. We highly recommend doing this tour.
Siriluk Sridee (Eikzy) was our tour guide for this experience and she was fantastic. She did an excellent showing us the city and was so knowledgable. She communicated so well and we learned so much during our time. As a plus she took us to a fantastic noodle shop that was easily one of the best meals we had in Chiang Mai. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an excellent tour guide and overall experience.
Boon was a very hospitable and knowledgeable tour guide. He knew a lot about the tremples we visited as well as the Buddhist religion. I would recommend Boon at anyone visiting Chiang Mai.
The ultimate tour to visit the most important spots in Chiang Mai, the tuk tuk gives extra joy to the day. Our guide was kind to recommend us where to buy lovely souvenirs for friends and family.
Leela was a wonderful and very informative guide who took her time showing us around each place we visited at the pace we wanted. She made sure we were comfortable and answered all of our questions. The tour was a good variety of temples and a nice local market at the end. A great experience overall!
The tour was a good way to see Old Town. The temples were great amd our guide added so much context and information.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon Tuk Tuk of Chiang Mai. Nui was a great guide sharing lots about the importance and meaning of each site to local people. He was both friendly and approachable and at times very funny (as was the driver). I also really appreciated the efforts made for it to be a low carbon tour.
A great way to experience a tuk tuk and see all the temples! James was very knowledge and the tuk tuk drivers were so friendly and fun
Saw many temples on our list. Riding in the tuk tuks was awesome. We learned quite a bit about Thai Buddhism l.
This was probably the worst tour we've been on in Thailand mainly because the two guides that were on the tour with us could not really speak English! We only understood about 20% of what they were saying which left us very frustrated. The stops were all great but we learned nothing about the places we saw because of the language problem. For the money they charge they really need to provide actual English speaking guides!
Prenom was a great guide. She was very attentive when explaining everything and also helped carry my wife’s bag which we were so grateful for. The driver was also really good, helping us getting into the tuk tuk.
Great morning spent with Nana and Dio. They looked after us, and showed us some amazing temples and other special sights. Highly recommend- and don’t forget to say yes to Mango Sticky Rice at the stall which has been operating for over 50 years.
A Fantastic Half-Day Adventure in Chiang Mai! We had a wonderful experience on the Chiang Mai Tuk Tuk Tour – Half Day Adventure, and it was one of the highlights of our time in the city. Our guide, Uthai Kanthaudom, was absolutely excellent — attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and relaxed, making the whole tour feel both engaging and enjoyable. Throughout the afternoon, he beautifully intertwined the history of Chiang Mai with each stop, giving us a real sense of the city’s heritage and character. We visited three stunning temples, each completely different in style and atmosphere. Every one offered something unique, and having Uthai explain the architectural details and historical significance made them even more special. We also explored a bustling local food market, which was a fascinating cultural experience. It was vibrant, authentic, and full of local life. Visitors should be aware that some traditional fresh produce, including live seafood and other market staples, are sold — a completely normal part of daily local commerce, but something to be mindful of if you’re not used to it. The Tuk Tuk itself was great fun and added a real sense of adventure to the morning. All in all, a superbly organised tour with a genuinely outstanding guide. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an engaging and insightful introduction to Chiang Mai.
The half day tour was great way to know chiang mai old city very quick especially in a tuk a tuk. The tour guide Michele/ was great
We had a great afternoon exploring the local temples with Boon, our guide. He and the driver picked us up at our hotel promptly on time and took us to 3 of the main temples in Chiang Mai, ending with a market and visit to the Tae Pae Gate. At each temple we would stop and Boon would walk us through each site, explaining the significance and history. He was very knowledgeable and interesting without information overload. We really enjoyed our day and the Tuk Tuk was a nice way to get around on a very hot day. We would recommend this tour.
This was an excellent tour and exactly what we wanted. We wanted to learn about Chiang Mai's history and Buddhism and our guide Rapinphong Thanaratsirikul was extremely knowledgeable. We had already seen so many temples on our own but having a guide to explain more was quite useful. There is very little English translations at the sites. The tuk tuk was perfect and quite fun in the heat. We went to a fabulous market and we finished almost all of our shopping with his help. He knew exactly where to take us. Having a private tour made it easy for us to also customize a bit to we wanted!
Great tour giving an extensive insite into the local temples landmarks and markets of Chaing Mai. Well organised and on time. Matt our English speaking guide was excellent.
It was a great way to see all the major sights in the city. Sunny was a great tour guide giving us the history of the city.
Good intro to CM, tuk tuk good way to get around, well coordinated. I booked last minute, and availability of guides was limited; in my fervor to engage, I booked a Chinese speaking tour. My error, I don’t speak Chinese. At all. Sooo immediately got on “chat” with TripAdvisor, thank god it was a human…I think….and was told that I couldn’t change a booking…loooooooong story short - Geralyn worked her app magic and reconfirmed I had an English language tour. Next morning Cookie showed up with tuk tuk driver. Decent tour - wish I’d read more on CM history, culture and religion in preparation, I could’ve asked more thoughtful questions - Cookie was “one smart….”. After 3 temple tours, we ended up at market place - great street food and CM shopping. Recommend for everyone - beats walking.
Always good to hire a guide to get grounded when visiting a new city. Cookie was great - very knowledgable and personable.
A great way to see and learn a lot in a few short hours. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Fantastic tour and Cookie was a very knowledgeable guide, super informative! We enjoyed visiting all the temples and the market too.
Watsana was an amazing guide! I highly recommend doing this tour on your first day in Chiang Mai, since it’s a great way to orient yourself around the city. Normally I prefer to explore things myself without a tour, but in this case, we definitely needed Watsana. There’s so much we wouldn’t have experienced right without her. Also, I loved that this was customizable since it was private. Also loved the tuk tuk - would have gotten so tired walking around old town.
We got to visit multiple temple sites with convenience- and our young kids loved the ride! They got hungry at the beginning of the tour, guides/driver kindly took us to a fabulous place to enjoy the coffee & snacks on west side of the old town. Would highly recommend to anyone!
So much to see and so much information. This tour took us through the city to see and learn all about the local culture. Our guide went above and beyond the expectations.
First day in Chiang Mai, it was a great way to explore without children moaning. Saw some key places including temples and a market. Please note you should carry cash we had only just arrived that morning and planned to get some out that day.
We very much enjoyed our private TukTuk tour with our guide, Matt. This was definitely the best way to see the temples of Chiang Mai. He was incredibly knowledgable about all aspects of Buddhism, Lanna culture and history, and provided a lot of detail on what it was that we were seeing and doing. The team was kind enough to show us a local coffee shop when we needed a caffeine break and also took us to a "silver" engraving craftshop where we were able to etch a design in metal like artisans had done for Wat Sri Suphan.
Great way to see some of the sights around Chiang Mai city! Our guide was super friendly and very knowledgeable about each place we stopped at. Riding around in the tuk tuk from place to place was so fun too! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!
We were able to get an understanding of Buddhism and the history of how it was formed through our knowledge guide. Saw some nice temples, key city landmarks and businesses of Chiang Mai.
Art was amazing! He is very descriptive and knows a lot about the history, you will be sure to get a lot of information from Art. The half day tour is perfect because it doesn’t feel too long. You also get amazing photos, tons of them that Art makes sure you get the best shots. Overall, would highly recommend this tour! Ohhh and you get to ride on a Tuk Tuk which gives you the local experience.
I loved every single activity we did. James was very knowledgeable about the history of all temple and more. Would recommend this tour to anyone.
Matt was a great host. Knowledgeable and friendly with a great sense of humor. The tour was a great way to get our bearings at the start of our time here in Chiang Mai. Totally recommend.
I had a really good time my tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. My tour guide even took me to local areas to try local snacks. Our driver was very professional and even had water for me to drink.
City Tuk Tul Tour through Chiang Mai, it was very interesting! Our Guide Perer gave us a lot of information about the Temples and the Monks. We were happy to drive around so you are able to see more.
Had a great morning tour with Popcorn. Very knowledgable and experienced. Kept us entertained and helped by taking some terrific photos, thanks popcorn
Matt our guide was great . Visit to temples with emphasis on Buddhism practices was well shared. The visit to flower market was unique.
