Sukhothai was definitely a highlight of our trip to Thailand and well worth the drive. Our guide M was great. The tour included a bycicle ride around the site (there is also the option of moving around with a golf cart). After the visit we had a lovely lunch in a cozy family owned restaurant. We absolutely recommend this tour.

I had my doubts about making the trip because of the distance, but it was a wonderful experience. Yut's guide's van is super comfortable; you can even sleep for a good part of the way. Yut explains the history of the place, and he's very friendly. I highly recommend it!

If a visitor is not staying at or near this site, there is a significant investment of time and money required to include it. Do it! This is one of the country's top tourist attractions and well worth that investment. This collection of temple ruins is a must see! From Chiang Mai, it is a lovely drive through forest and mountains to get there. We also dined on a local favourite -- Sukthohai noodles. Our guide 'M' had a first class knowledge of the area and excellent English.
Great tour of Sukhothai / Si Satchanalai with Tong and transfer from Sukhothai to Chiang Mai. Tong was very knowledgeable and great company, making sure that we’re comfortable and looked after us so well that we decided to book another tour with him/Pagoda. Highly recommended and ask for Tong!
M was a great tour guide! Provided great historical insights, funny stories, single handedly drove a long distance in a very clean and nice car, and took great care of us - even recommending delicious lunch food and buying nice snacks for us to try. Seeing the temples was a fascinating experience with him and he made everything super comfortable for a long trip. Highly recommend!

I had more time in Chiang Mai since a lot of markets were just recovering from the flood and were close. So, I decided to go to Sukhothai. It was the old capital of Siam Empire, and I have always wanted to go there. Our guide is Mr. Tong, and he was fantastic. He got to our hotel early, and waited there patiently, since I was not yet ready at that time. The drive was very peaceful since it was early in the morning, and the car was very comfortable. We stopped at the market in Lumpang for coffee and snack. He brought a couple of Thai sweet sticky rice with custard for us, and it was delicious. This market has a lot of vendors, and many shops were open already. We bought some ceramics (Lumpang is known for ceramics) and clothing from this market. Once we were in Sukhothai, Mr. Tong got a golf-cart and started a tour around the historical park, and he was AWESOME! Throughout the park, he informed us not just about the Sukhothai city state, but how the Siam empire was formed, and how it later became Thailand. We have learned so much from him, and he has inspired us to explore more and be open-minded. The park was pretty much empty, and it was just us walking around. He took us for lunch at a local spot nearby, and even asked for a special Sukhothai noodle soup for us (I have heard about it, but it was not on the menu). Our lunch was spectacular. The food was so fresh, and flavorful. Meanwhile, we were still looking for a shopping opportunity, but there was not a lot of nice shops around. So, Mr. Tong stopped by a shop in Lumpang on the way back to Chiang Mai for more shopping. I would like to Thank Mr. Tong for such an amazing knowledge and customer service. He made a long drive so much fun. I highly recommend this tour.
I had a lovely tour with Tong today. He made sure that I was comfortable and that all my needs were met. He gave a thorough explanation of the history of the temples. I came back from the tour inspired. I need to book again!
This was a fantastic tour made better by our guide Mr Tong. You have to ask for him because the tour is made even better because of him. He is a genuine and sincere person with a great sense of humour and his service excellence is second to none. We were very well looked after by him, and he treated us like family. You have to try the local noodles he recommended on this trip.
We had a great day with Tong at Sukhothaj. It’s a long drive, but we knew that and still wanted to make the trip. The car was comfortable and we were well supplied with snacks, drinks etc. we had a couple of stops en route each way for a restroom break. Sukhothai was wonderful. Park empty and so lovely to wander, soak up the atmosphere and see the temples. Lovely lunch at local, family run roadside restaurant. Tong looked after us very well all day. Good driver and nothing too much trouble. Good English and very good explanations and general chat. Would highly recommend Tong and this tour.

Our guide, Tong, took us from Chiang Mai to Sukhothai and we had a wonderful day seeing the ancient temples and ruins. We also visited a very large local market where we could shop and grab coffee. Tong was very kind, knowledgeable, and always made sure we were cared for throughout the journey. We will definitely book again with Tong when back in Chiang Mai!

We had an amazing day with Nat and our driver who showed us around Sukhothai and took great care of us. Thank you for showing us many interesting things and amazing highlights such as biking around Sukhothai historical park, seeing the Wat Si Chum, the Wat Mahatat, and many other places. We also really love the quick stop at Sawankhalok for a great view and a delicious Thai iced tea. Our stop at the golden Buddha at Wat Phiphat Mongkhon was also lovely. And what a great local market at Tung Kwian in Lampang! I enjoyed the local produce so much and the drive along the northern countryside as well as the history of the place. The site of Sukhotai is worth a visit, a truly beautiful archaeological temple complex that deserves UNESCO recognition. The trip started from Chiang Mai and takes the whole day given the distance, you need a good driver and guide and our driver and guide mr. M (his real name is impossible for me to write) was very good: good driver, calm, cooperative and with excellent knowledge of history. Since we had it the next day for another trip I would definitely recommend it.
We went on the tour with Mr. Tong. It was fantastic. Mr. Tong made sure that the long drive was entertaining and interesting. He entertained us well, always made sure we had enough variety and had enough to eat and drink. Sukhotai itself is so impressive, it was totally worth coming here.

One of the few companies offering a day tour to Sukhotai from Chiang Mai is of course quite long, but it's worth it! My driver/guide Austin was very good, he included breaks at a market or for a coffee and showed me the great sights in Sukhotai. Sukhotai is definitely worth a visit - great temples and historical sites, never crowded and you almost have them to yourself.
