This was a gift for my wife and we were amazed at the range of food offers in Chester. The enthusiasm of the business owners and their passion for their food was infectious. We also learnt so much about the history of the city at the same time. This experience is one that took about 5 hours and involved a fair bit of walking but Giada, our guide made it one of the best food tours we have been on. We are both willing to try anything that is offered on these types of tours and we were delighted with the range of food offers we had during our tour but the quality was excellent. More than happy to recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys their food and likes to learn more from the producers along the way.

What a fantastic afternoon this was. Steph was a brilliant guide and all of the venues were lovely. A really great afternoon spent with lovely people and I will definitely be booking again.
This was an excellent experience and Jahdah was really lovely and very informative. The only downside was that we had to buy our own drinks in some of the venues. Jahdah said that alcoholic deinks were only provided at 2 venues but our voucher from Virgin said that "all drinks" were included. Other than that, thoroughly enjoyable.
What a great afternoon we had! There was a group of eleven of us and our guide. Mostly couples, and mixed ages but everyone was so friendly, and we all soon gelled. During the afternoon we all mixed whilst we walked to each place, and it was great to get to know everyone. We enjoyed all the well-chosen venues and the tasty food that we sampled. The balance between sampling the produce of each restaurant and the interesting facts we learned was just right. Our knowledgeable host kept us amused with plenty of unusual facts about Chester, but with a few anecdotes to keep the information light and entertaining. We’d all met at Noon, and the tour was scheduled to run for about 4 - 4 and a half hours, but did run slightly over on time. Our generous guide allowed us time to take the tour at our own pace, and enjoy the company of the other participants. Something this good just can’t be rushed! We can’t wait to go on our next tour. Suitable for locals and visitors to this great City. Highly recommended.
A delicious variety of food and interesting stops along the way. Our guide was full of enthusiasm and made the time fly by.
Fabulous food/drink tour of Chester with the friendliest guide (Steph) we have ever had! From the moment she greeted us Steph was warm and friendly. She instantly brought the group together which meant we began as strangers but left as friends! The food stops were well chosen-independent food outlets presenting tasty small plates. Tapas, Thai, Gelato, Cheshire Cheesecake, Pie and interesting wines and artisan gin. What’s not to like! In addition we strolled around the fabulous city of Chester, taking in the sights and learning about its long and fascinating history. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time with Steph. It's clear she has her finger on the pulse of the Chester food scene, knowing the ins and the outs and the best hidden places to go. We had a blast!
What a wonderful afternoon we had! Steph our tour guide is very knowledgeable about all things historical and foody… she is incredibly warm and engaging. We were taken to some lovely independent venues and given a background as to how they evolved - some really scrummy tasters in numerous venues… what could be better!? 🫶👌😋
From start to finish this tour was great Steph was brilliant interacted with the whole group of different ages and got us all talking together her information on the history of some of the places we visited on our tour was brilliant .The food part I really enjoyed having not tried a lot of the samples before but because we tried them we will definitely visit the venues again and to finish off with a marmalade gin topped it all thank you to Steph hope to see you again
What a great experience! It was a wedding present for Paul and I. Steph was such a great host, welcoming, friendly, full of valuable knowledge about Chester! Loved visiting the independent eateries, have told a few friends about them. Will definitely be paying a visit to all of them at some point, as will our friends. Highly recommended. Thanks again Steff for such an enjoyable experience.
I went with a friend who was very hot day and my friend was slightly disabled, but we manage well we walked between restaurants. The guide was excellent. The food was excellent. It was for Tour and very good value for money. Lots of different foods and drinks. We went home very happy.
We had a fantastic time on this tour, seeing the sights and sampling some wonderful food and drink. Steph was a great tour guide and we'd really recommend this for anyone as a unique way to get to know Chester!

Recently went on the food tour and even though we have been to Chester many times before, Steph found some wonderfull hidden gems for us to eat at. Steph is very friendly and entertained us, on the strolls between food stops, with stories of the history of Chester. A great way to spend a few hours in Chester.
An excellent experience for the students both enjoyable and informative. Visited a wide variety of food outlets and the students experienced a lovely range of food to taste testing, along with useful talks from a range of Chester business owners. Booked to take another group.
Recently did a food tour with Steph. Excellent day out. Steph gave us an insight into some hidden gems for foodies and their history that would otherwise have been overlooked. Small independent operators such as these need our full support. Steph's tour is Highly recommended.
Absoloutely enjoyed every minute of this tour. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Steph was an excellent host, very friendly, lots of fun and full of interesting facts and stories about Chester. The food was sooo tasty. We even had the opportunity to try oysters. Delicious!! I would definitely recommend this tour to both Chester residents and visitors to the area. Such a great way to see the city!!!
Such a fabulous tour of independent foodie places in Chester with a bit of history and stories thrown in. Steph has been very professional and accommodating and is such a wonderful personable host. Would definitely recommend if you want to explore the hidden gems of Chester and taste the local food and drink. Big thanks to Sam also.
From beginning to end, Steph took on our wishes and needs, ultimately providing an event where we could all just turn up and have a fantastic time delivered to us. The variety of venues, the quality of the food, learning about Chester history and the origin of the food/venue was a unique experience. Go hungry as you will be glad you are walking and talking between courses! A very special night for all and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Brilliant food tour alongside history of Chester. Our second tour with adult family and just as good as the first. Steph’s easy going nature and wealth of knowledge of Chester made for a really enjoyable afternoon. We would highly recommend this tour
Our first city food tour- Fab experience. Sampled delicious food and drink in interesting venues. Steph, our guide, was charming and provided lots of information about the city, the history in addition to her passion for the food. Great to support these local businesses.
Great way to spend a few hours. You do not need to be visiting Chester, it’s great for locals too. Steph was good fun and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. And the suppliers all informative and welcoming. They do vouchers if you are stuck for gift ideas. Will definitely book another tour. Highly recommended
A lovely day with tasty food and an enthusiastic guide
What a fantastic tour! Delicious food stops, beautiful and informative tour of Chester and Steph was a brilliant guide! We all enjoyed ourselves so much and found lots of new places to try - would thoroughly recommend to anyone and we look forward to booking again - thank you Steph!
t was such a brilliant afternoon and such a lovely way to see Chester. We wandered around the city, learning lots of interesting things along the way, while stopping at some fantastic independent eateries to sample some seriously delicious desserts. We had gorgeous gelato, Ukrainian honey cake and beautiful handmade desserts, and every stop was something a little different. I especially loved that it wasn’t just about the food — we got to discover more of Chester and hear all sorts of interesting stories and facts that I’d never have known. The whole afternoon was relaxed, fun and so well organised, and it was obvious that our host, the very lovely Steph, had put a LOT of thought and love into putting the tour together. I genuinely couldn’t recommend it enough. If you love food, exploring new places and discovering little gems you might otherwise miss, you absolutely need to give this a try. Such a fabulous experience — I’d definitely do it again! ❤️
Wew spent a very enjoyable 5+ hours on this food tour. Steph was a brilliant guide passing on masses of historical and food related facts about Chester and the venues we visited, all of whom were delighted to give us the time so that we could appreciate the food and drink served
We went on the tour yesterday and are still full of what a wonderful experience Steph gave us. The food and drink were top class and although we thought we knew Chester, we hadn't actually been to any of the venues before. However, the energy and attention Steph brings to really interesting nuggets of historical information about the City were just as interesting and varied as the food and drink and selected to be of interest to the people in the group. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to friends and family
Great food and everything! Tour and guide excellent.
Brilliant food tour of Chester. Giada our guide was great. Really enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Chester, its history and food scene. Had some great food and drinks from places we would never have found on our own. Highly recommended
Great food and lovely company. We particularly enjoyed the Green house tapas food. Steph was a brilliant tour guide and we enjoyed her company.
Very enjoyable tour. Steph was great guide with added history of Chester. All stops great quality food and drink with fish taco and oysters stop our favourite. Definitely recommend if you’re in Chester.
Fun day out with good company.Visited some great establishments serving excellent food. Steph is a lovely host, and we would recommend Chester on a plate food tour to family and friends.
Excellent tour led by knowledgeable and charismatic tour guide. The afternoon consisted of visiting local points of interest interspersed with food and drink at superb smaller independent eateries. It was great to visit places you don’t normally go to and hear about the history
Steph is a great guide! The food was definitely something we would not usually order. The drinks were good and the pours were normal pours! Loved the gin tasting at the end! Our tour was a walking tour around the town of Chester. Our tour lasted longer than it was supposed to but we had an older couple with us who kind of slowed down at the end and I also think the unusual heat was not helping with that. That was not Steph's fault and we did not get angry about it. Steph took us to places that were owned by local people. Not only did Steph do a great job with the food and drinks, she answered all my questions that had nothing to do with the tour. She answered questions about different things in town, the weather, what kind of clothes to wear, what ever I asked. I appreciated it so much! Thank you
Steph was an excellent guide who combined visits to various food and beverage venues with an interesting insight into the history of Chester. Would highly recommend.
Was such a great experience. We live just outside of Chester but Steph took us to places we have never been. Steph was very knowledgeable about the history of Chester. I totally recommend doing this food tour as it gives you the chance to eat some amazing food and see the sights of Chester.
A lovely introduction to beautiful Chester with its hidden surprises, amazing history and delicious food. A wonderful experience.
Brilliant way to explore the gastronomic delights of Chester, championing the independents! We are all local to the area and it really opened our eyes to the variety and quality of places to eat and drink that we had never been to before. Steph is an excellent guide, nothing was rushed. She took time to both entertain and instruct us on the history of Chester and the background to the food venues we visited. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon! Highly recommend. We will be back! Tips- wear comfy shoes and plan for 5 hours or more of exploring.
We had a lovely time on the food tour in Chester. Steph looked after us so well and made sure we were happy and engaged in the soaring heat! A great range of cuisine and all delicious. The vendors and restaurant owners talked to us as well so we felt very special and we felt at the end, not only wonderfully satisfied but with a great appreciation of Chester and its food scene. Highly recommend.
Fabulous day and week worth the money. Our guide was the best and so knowledgeable about the places and the history of Chester. Would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful experience on a Chester on a plate tour. I bought the tour as birthday gifts for my husband and my brother-in-law, as I was looking for something a little different. We were joined by two lovely sisters who had come from Halifax to visit Chester and the tour. Although we grew up near Chester we learnt a few new things about the city along the way. The independent venues we visited were varied from hot smoked salmon and Thai to gelato. Each venue provided us with excellent food or drink giving us a small taster of their menus. The stand out for me had to be the pistachio gelato from Krum Gelato, the best I’ve ever tasted. Our guide Giada was a last minute stand in for Steph who was unfortunately ill, Giada was knowledgeable and entertaining, the perfect host for a most enjoyable day.
We had a great time with our guide Giada who was a bubbly mine of information about the history of Chester. The food locations were excellent and it was interesting to talk to some of the proprietors about their business. We will return to some of locations we which we would not have known about if not for this tour. Our communication with Steph was excellent who arranged alternative food for one of our party who is gluten free.
Had a great afternoon meeting new people and sampling dishes in restaurants I had not even considered going to before. The added bonus was learning about Chester Great way to spend the day
Giada was a fantastic tour guide- warm and friendly with lots of knowledge of Chester. The food was really tasty and a good selection of eateries!
I went with my mum on a very rainy day in June and had the best time despite the rain. Steph is so knowledgeable on food and drink and of course the history of Chester . We went to some lovely places that we never knew excited and will be back for sure. Thank you Step for such a fun day
Steph was a fantastic guide, leading our group through the city while sharing fascinating stories and historical insights that brought Chester to life. The tour struck a perfect balance between local history, beautiful walks and, of course, excellent food. We met at Greenhouse by Chester Town Hall before making our way around the city. Along the route, we visited Thai Tapas where I had a great Thai wine, walked through the stunning Chester Cathedral, explored the Rows, and enjoyed the choice of an ice cream or a beer. One of the highlights was walking along Chester’s historic walls on the way to Brewery Tap for a delicious mini steak pie. The tour finished with a beautiful cheesecake made from local ingredients, which was the perfect ending to the experience. As I’m writing this, I’m still thinking about that cheesecake and would gladly have another ten slices. Unfortunately, it had been made specifically for Steph’s tour, making it both memorable and frustratingly unavailable. Steph’s knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of humour made the afternoon engaging from start to finish. I came away having discovered some wonderful independent eateries and learnt far more about Chester than I ever expected. Highly recommended for both visitors and locals alike. You’ll leave well fed and with a newfound appreciation for this remarkable city.
We had a fantastic time exploring Chester with Steph. The city is full of interesting places, history, and little details that you would easily miss without a guide. Steph was brilliant, friendly, enthusiastic, and very easy to talk to. Her passion for Chester really came through and made the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. It felt more like spending time with a knowledgeable friend than being on a formal tour.
Went on a tour with family for a birthday, never having done a food tour before. We all had a great time, I live near Chester but found a number of places I’d not been to before and all venues were excellent. It was great to hear the stories of the business owners, hear a bit of history about Chester on the way round, and the food and drink was excellent. The host Steph was also great and made sure everyone had an enjoyable afternoon
Steph was a delightful tour guide. She was so easy to talk with and spend 4-5 hours with. Her history of the area was great and the choices of stops were great! Loved every stop! Best day trip!
A great experience - six of us went on the evening food tour and we all found new places to visit where we hadn't been before (and which we'll be returning to), food was lovely, and the drinks were great. Steph was a wonderful and entertaining guide - highly recommend this tour experience.
