Loved this tour, Isabelle’s passion for this era and her love of history and Chester shows all the way through the tour. We loved it, 90 minutes of interesting history, not too many stairs to climb. Highly recommend this tour and a visit to Chester information centre.
I had such a brilliant time on the Edwardian Lady walking tour around Chester. Izzy was incredibly knowledgeable, informative and entertaining, bringing the history to life in a really engaging way. She was also more than happy to answer questions that weren’t necessarily related to the Edwardian period, which made the whole experience feel really relaxed and interactive. A really enjoyable couple of hours and a great way to see Chester while learning lots along the way. Would definitely recommend!
There are days in your life that you suddenly get a wonderfull surprise. We were so lucky to visit the tourist information in Chester on a thursday before 11h a clock in the morning. There we saw the announcement of the Edwardian lady walking tour. What a wonderfull experience this was! A very passionate guide took us back into a period in history quite unknown to us and brought Edward the 7th really to live for us (and that on her day off!). She really made us fall in love with Chester. So we definitely come back one day to spend more time there. So good that there are still people so devoted/dedicated to what they do, so enthusiastic. We had a great time thanks to "Elisa". Thank you for that.
Izzy was amazing. She was a true lady and very attentive to our questions. It sprinkled a little so she fetched us some umbrellas from the visitor centre. We were a small group of 6. It was well worth the money as we had an expert. We were lucky to have Izzy as she managers the visitor centre and does the tour on her days off. Thank you it was memorable
Absolutely enjoyed this tour. Really informative, & a few hidden secrets too. Just the right length of time. We left the tour knowing so much more than before. Thank you, Miss Eiza Dutton, from the 3 ladies from Dudley.
What a fun, interesting, educational and must do tour. Eliza Dutton, our fabulous Edwardian tour guide, was a fountain of knowledge, looked fabulous, was entertaining and took us places we would never have been able to go or would have missed out on had she not guided us all about town. It's reasonably priced and you leave feeling a lot more knowledgeable about this amazing city.
A lovely way to spend an hour and half getting to know the great city of Chester in the charming company of our Edwardian guide.
This is a really interesting Edwardian tour around key sites in Chester from an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide who fully engages her audience. I am a resident of Chester and learned a lot. Definitely worth doing!
What a wonderful way of getting to know Chester and Isabel is so knowledgeable. We are only here for a day on our way home but thrilled we stopped over. Isabel took us to places where the public aren’t generally allowed and we learnt so much about why the Edwardians wanted Chester to look as if the buildings were built by the Tudors. But I’m not going to say anymore because you need to book your tour! Tickets are available from the tourist office. Thank you again
My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed Isabel's tour. It was a fascinating insight into Chester during the Edwardian period. We highly recommend this tour to everyone.
The Edwardian lady was charming and humorous. She injected the tour with interesting anecdotes and fascinating stories. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Eliza Dutton and In would highly recommend to anybody visiting the beautiful city of Chester.
Very nice and interesting. You get a very good insight into the life and work of King Edward. The guide speaks very clear English. I highly recommend this city tour.
Amazing tour and Miss Eliza was wonderful at keeping us all involved in the tour. Extremely wonderful also was that for the tour I went on they got special permission to enter the town hall too which was amazing
The walk was very informative and entertaining. Highly recommend. Will definitely go again. Of course the weather stayed lovely which helped.
Isabel is a most accomplished guide, who provides a fascinating insight into the women of the Edwardian era in Chester. Absorbing and compelling, you are thoroughly engaged from the start by a combination of enthusiasm and knowledge delivered in the most absorbing manner. Your attention does not wander, not for a minute as you absorbed by the story. This is a highly recommended tour, one not to be missed; it brings a new dimension to the city as we see it through the eyes of the Edwardian Lady!
This was a great outing , plenty of information clearly delivered, and very entertaining. We would thoroughly recommend this trip
Brilliant experience! we were taken to some very interesting parts of Chester by our friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. She is great at telling a story and really brought the history to life. I would thoroughly recommend this walk.
The Edwardian character “Elisa Dutton” showed and explained “her” Chester to us. It was like a theatre performance with Chester as the stage. Performed with much love and enthusiasm - fantastic experience … much recommended!
“Eliza Dutton” gave us a wonderful snapshot into Edwardian life in Chester. The tour was fun and informative all at the same time - if only history lessons at school had been this enjoyable!
This was a brilliant tour by an engaging expert - in costume! The guide (Isabel, playing Liza Dutton) captivated everybody, even though not especially interested in history. Even as locals we were shown new aspects of Chester, and given great insight into the development of the city from the late Victorian period up until the start of the Great War (and a couple of Roman ruins just crept in ... they can't be avoided in Chester!). Throughly recommended for anybody. Thank you from all of us.
A delightful hour and a half meandering the streets of Chester with Edwardian character, Eliza Hutton. As we found out, there’s so much more to Chester than the Romans.
“Eliza Dutton” our Edwardian lady guide showed us around the wonderful city of Chester through the eyes of an Edwardian lady. Very knowledgeable and interesting, she was the perfect guide to introduce us to this era of a beautiful historical city. Would definitely recommend this walking tour.
Booked a tour with Izabel (Eliza Dutton ). My wife and I booked the tour not sure what to expect. Eliza gave us so much interesting information about Chester and the Edwardian period. Visited old Roman remains "beneath a cafe"amazing. Eliza talk was made interesting and the 1 1/2 hours flew by.
I went on this tour with my friend which was an absolutely superb and historically correct romp through the eyes of an Edwardian Lady living in the city. The tour served to orientate visitors around the fascinating medieval city of Chester as well as take us into an historic building and highlighted the distinctive architecture as well as explained the connections between The Grosvenor family and the influence they have had on many aspects of the city's development. We arrived at the town cross in time to listen to the town crier and explored the famous rows and walls. I particularly liked the fact that our guide, explained the significance of women getting the vote in Britain (Sufferage) and the struggle in Edwardian times, which many take for granted now. The tour was delivered in a highly imaginative way as well as having been meticulously researched with artefacts of the time to bring the era to life. I have been on many walking tours in UK and abroad and this is one of the best, if not the best I have ever enjoyed. Delivered by a Chester Green Badge Guide, (tickets from the Tourist Information Office) which also had the added historically correct costumed element which made the whole tour immensely fun and in some ways like stepping back in time. Our guide always had a twinkle in her eye and gave guests opportunities to take photo’s as well included them in any discussion points. Five stars, thoroughly entertaining and informative morning. She deserved double the tip I gave her!
Eliza Dutton ( Isabel) was fantastic on our tour this morning. She was interesting, friendly, knowledgeable and a credit to the city. As a local you think you know quite a bit about Chester, but no! We were entertained with stories about people and incidents from Edwardian times, and Isabel's knowledge of all other things Chester was excellent as well. I would thoroughly recommend this tour, giving you the chance to see the City through new eyes. Brilliant!
The Edwardian Lady Tour was the highlight of my visit to Chester. Eliza was just enchanting and shared her experiences of life in Chester during the Edwardian period with such enthusiasm and grace - it was wonderful. I can't recommend this tour highly enough for anyone interested in the history of Chester and am looking forward to another visit soon as I know there is still a lot to learn. Thank you Eliza, you were amazing!
It was great, the director of the local tourist office guided this tour on her day off. She showed very fascinating places. She showed us the city through the eyes of Edward VII. It was great. She tells very engagingly and enthusiastically. In short, join this tour through Chester, it's a real recommendation, a local gem.
Fantastic guide! A storyteller of rank. Wonderful, understandable English! The tour can really be recommended. //Annika
