This is the second time I have stayed here with my young son when we come to explore Wales. The Rocks is a perfect venue, it’s in a great location to visit loads of different places from walks and paddle boarding to full on hikes and scenic villages. The hostel itself is clean and tidy and even when it’s busy as it was this weekend it’s not claustrophobic and everyone is like minded so you pick up so great tips and advice based on experience. The staff are super helpful and friendly and we’ll definitely be back again.

First time staying in a hostel, but this place really exceeded my expectations. The room was really nice and the other facilities very nice and well decorated throughout, clean and maintained to a high standard. Excellent location for mountain hikes and beautiful views. Please make sure to bring your own towels and food for your stay, although you can rent towels really cheap at reception.
Thank you so much to Ellie and the Team for allowing us to call The Rocks our home for the week. 17 teen boys and 8 adults. The boys were in dorm rooms with one set of adults in the main house with them. The rest of the adults were in The Retreat (cottage). The Retreat was just a treat for us all. It worked really well for our group and offered us a chance to gather without imposing on other guests and general areas. We were so grateful for the use of the cottage bbq. A very easy and quick dinner option and good fun. The kitchen set up in the main house was equally superb. Plenty of space for us to store both dry and cold food. And again allowed us to quickly feed the boys before setting out for the day. It was excellent training for the boys to be expected to grab their own breakfast, eat, wash up, dry up and put away, despite being half asleep most mornings. The Rocks was such a brilliant central base. A perfect springboard to all our outdoor adventures. Clean, homely and very welcoming. High quality furnishings and bedding. Glorious team of staff and lovely other guests! A must stay for anyone looking to explore the area and North Wales. We absolutely loved our time at The Rocks. See you all again soon.
Such a comfy cosy stay at The Rocks, and the facilities are excellent. I love the location too - so easy to access Plas Y Brenin centre, hikes, and plenty of the towns and villages nearby. It was lovely to wake up to a beautiful view of the misty mountains each morning and everyone was really welcoming & friendly. Thankyou ✨🫶
What an amazing hostel, it's everything you are hoping for: comfy beds, friendly staff, plenty showers, cosy chill zone, a beautiful terrace to relax and read your book in the evening sun (or shades), a well equipped kitchen. Sadly we only stayed for one night, definitely worth coming back! One of the nicest hostels I have ever been.
