Mere Court Hotel

AVOID IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY, INTOLERANCE OR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS. Dietary requirements not met for afternoon tea despite writing them on the booking form AND informing the waitress on arrival. The waitress continued to bring the allergen out which I informed them I couldn't have twice. I was told to just "swap" the sandwich I couldn't have with someone else. No offer to substitute this with something else. This is honestly disgraceful in this day and age. We were the only table in the restaurant, I can understand why now. Food was very average for an afternoon tea, nothing special. Specialty coffee was an additional £5 something. There was a wedding on when we arrived so no where to park, people were dumping their car anywhere blocking others in. The wedding was obviously prioritised which is expected, but it affected the service we were definitely an after thought. If you don't have the staff then don't offer afternoon tea at the same time it's not rocket science. Dead flies in the window sills and there was a sticky substance and crumbs from the breakfast on the table on arrival. My sister had to ask them to wipe it as we sat down... despite being the only table there and the table being set up for afternoon tea. Average priced afternoon tea for average food. The staff were friendly but the lack of customer service doesn't make up for it.

Great location, close to the M6 with Lymm nearby. Our room was the Kensington and it was great, overlooking the front. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast, offering nice continental choice plus cooked breakfast. Staff were always smiling, very attentive and professional. Would definitely recommend 👍

From the moment I visited Mere Court I knew this was my place to hold my wedding! The grounds are so peaceful and the charm of the hotel is delightful. The Bridal Suite was stunning and was extremely large to enable us to enjoy the morning as a group getting ready! Guests also commented on how large their rooms were and how unique the hotel was! The flow of the wedding rooms works extremely well, we got married in the conservatory overlooking the lake and then used the fantastic grounds for our cocktail hours. The new owner and his staff are just fantastic! We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect venue that all our guests enjoyed and commented on how wonderful our day had been! The food was amazing, they controlled the day extremely well we were never left wondering what was happening and when it all just naturally flowed and believe me on your wedding day this is exactly what you require! If you charm and character this is certainly the hotel for you! What a fabulous day. Thank you to all at Mere Court. Memories were made that were captured forever in such a beautiful place!

We had our wedding here, it was the best day ever. The staff and owner were brilliant and made everything run like clockwork. The food was served hot and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Sam was particularly awesome in coordinating everything. All our guests were very complimentary. Good old fashioned service from an Independant hotel.
