We had 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Runcorn. Formus it was the best option to meet family at Chester Zoo and also be close to the motorway for arrival/exit. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and helped when I left an item behind. Rooms were OK. Very comfortable beds (twin room), although the bathroom was a squeeze and getting in and out of the shower (over the bath) wasn't the easiest. There was also little space to hang wet towels, especially as the hook behind the door was missing. Great addition was the air conditioning, although it was a little noisy. Once asleep you didn't notice it. WiFi was good, there was tea/coffee facilities, however, no fridge. One side of the beds didn't have a bedside table. This was probably due to there being a connecting door. Instead I used the desk chair pulled over, so I had somewhere for my glasses and phone, etc. Breakfast was great. A good selection of hot and cold items, as well as a gluten free area. All-in-all a great stay for 2-nights, despite the small size of the bedroom and bathroom.

My partner and I booked a room here late after a mess up with Travelodge who we will never use again. Instead this hotel was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. A particular shout out to Andrea Richardson at reg front desk who did an absolutely stellar job at welcoming us and bringing complimentary coffees to our table! Amazing service and lovely clean well equipped rooms.
We had a great time staying at this hotel for Creamfields festival 2026. The staff were so lovely (especially Tom) and we felt very welcome. The rooms are a little bit tired but the facilities are great and we had a wonderful time. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back next year as the DBB offer was superb and the pool and jacuzzi were lovely although again a little tired. Thanks for having us muddy lot! See you next year!
After a very disappointing experience at another hotel, we were transferred late at night to Holiday Inn Runcorn. What could have been a stressful end to our evening was made so much better when we arrived and were greeted by one of your lovely team members, Meg. Meg was incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. She made us feel comfortable and reassured, and we really appreciated her helpfulness. The lady on reception the following morning was also extremely lovely and friendly. In fact, every member of staff we encountered throughout our stay was fantastic. The whole team at the hotel were wonderful, and we really appreciated how kind, friendly and accommodating they were.
Unfortunately, my stay at the Holiday Inn Runcorn was disappointing. On the positive side, both the room and bathroom were clean, and the breakfast was decent with a reasonable selection. However, the hotel itself feels quite dated, and the coffee machine at breakfast was broken. The shower was particularly frustrating, with very little water pressure, making it difficult to have a proper shower. The lift also had a strong smell of urine and sweat, which created a poor first impression. The biggest issue was the check-in experience. We arrived at around 1:30 am after booking online, only to be told there were no rooms available for us. While we were trying to resolve the situation, police officers came into reception, and staff prioritised a non-emergency conversation with them rather than helping us. We were left waiting around 45 minutes before a room was eventually found. Overall, communication throughout the process was poor, and the level of customer service was disappointing. I appreciate that mistakes can happen, but the way the situation was handled left a lot to be desired. I believe some staff would benefit from additional customer service training to improve how issues like this are managed.
