it was quite busy and crowded but fortunately we were with our guide Molly who speaks English very well and she was so kind and she explained to us a lot of aspects of local Chinese culture, very interesting!! The boat tour was beautiful, Giant Buddha was Amazing!

We ended up booking with WestChinago from Tianfu airport transfer, private Giant Buddha, Wolong Panda Base, and airport transfer. This review is for airport pick up and Giant Buddha. First and foremost, Lily was AMAZING from booking to execution. Communication was clear, made great suggestions, and on time with everything (even told us the eta on her reply due to national holiday). Even including spending money economically with certain places for our itinerary. Really appreciate it. 1000% recommending this company for your Chengdu visit. You will not regret it! They’ll take care of you, and Lily certainly single handedly made my Chengdu visit so much less stress!! And oh, our drivers (both airport pick up and leshan giant Buddha) were super nice.
What an amazing tour! Everything was super well organized and I really loved every minute of it. Taking the train is definitely the way to go as we didn’t have to deal with traffic despite the fact that it was a holiday.
Brief river ride of 30mins. Only stay in front of the Buddha for 5mins or so so everyone is grappling and fighting for space to take pictures. Can get rowdy on the top open air deck. To avoid the crowd, one can also view from the lower aircon deck, where tea and food are available. The road to these jetties are very narrow, during peak jams, the wait on the coach or private cars can be really long, taxis with meters are not a good idea.
Had a great day, The Tour guide - Sharlene. was on time, in fact she arrived early, The tour was well organised, went off without a hitch. Sharlene's English was good, and has a lot of knowledge. she was able to answer any of my questions. The Buddah was magnificent, well worth seeing. Went on a weekday to avoid the tourist jam
We had an Excellent Guide and took our time climbing up to the top of the local buddha by another route than the one seen in the picture. The crowds were quite large and waiting was common for anything there. The best way to really see the buddha fully is by boat on the river. Then you can appreciate the enormity of the stature.
We spent a very good day with our guide Fifi for this tour. She was really friendly, helpfull and provided many informations on Chinese culture. Contact with Lily to prepare the tour was also perfect.
We had a great day full of new experiences!! First, we had a high speed train travel to Leshan (sooo cool). Then, the Giant Buddha took our breath (go and see it, it's a must). Taking the river cruise was the best option to see the whole Buddha. Local history and Buddhism explanations from our guide were really useful. Finally, our lovely guide showed us the best street food places to enjoy Sichuan food, which is amazing.
Thank you WestChinaGo for making our trip to Chengdu so special and memorable. As mentioned in multiple reviews, Lily is a pleasure to work with - responsive, efficient, resourceful, and extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, Lily is a kind and wonderful person who truly cares about her clients and will go the extra step to make sure everything in your party is comfortable and all needs catered to. We took a 2 day tour that included Panda volunteering and the Leshan Giant Buddha and couldn't have asked for a better experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend!
Great experience, nice food, the guide...Flora...allowed me to do whatever I felt best for my day. Thank you!!
We enjoyed the boat ride to the Leshan Giant Buddha. The weather was nice. We really got a great view. We could see the whole Buddha from the boat. I can not do a lot of stairs so the boat was the best way to go.
We visited the Leshan Giant Buddha as part of an itinerary which included a few days in Chengdu. When we visited, there had been ten days of heavy rain, so we could not make the approach by boat as planned, as the jetties were flooded! For the same reason, we could not go to the top of Mount Emei, but Lily and our guide Terry arranged alternative trips, which were equally as interesting. Terry was a brilliant guide and made everything fun and interesting. Most of our trip was arranged by Lily after contacting her by email and telling her where and what we wanted to do (we spent our first week in Fuzhou visiting our son) so she arranged to meet us from the train in Beijing and the following two weeks we were looked after by some fantastic guides. They all worked really hard to make sure we saw everything we wanted to, plus a few extra things they arranged for us too. The guides all spoke excellent English and were friendly and helpful and didn't mind answering our endless questions - so we learnt a lot about the Chinese way of life and the people, as well as just seeing the sites. I can't recommend Lily and her company highly enough, she was so helpful and efficient arranging a tailored itinerary - everything we did would have been so much harder to try to do independently as we usually do.
We booked our tour to see the Leshan Buddha in Sichuan Province. Our tour guide Cassie was AMAZING!!! She made our tour incredibly easy, fun and very informative. We visited the temple and paid an additional amount to take the boat to see the Buddha from the water. Cassie took us to see a real, working fishing village where we dined on excellent local fish cooked three different ways! She is such a kind and helpful person and touring with her made our day go very smooth and worry free! Thanks so much for providing such a lovely trip, Cassie!
We booked this tour at the last minute. (the day before) Shortly after booking we received an email from Lily in the back office confirming our hotel and pickup. Lily was a very efficient, professional and prompt in her replies. The next morning our guide Terry as there waiting at our hotel for the tour. Terry was a great guide. He was knowledgeable, had excellent English skills and was a pleasure to spend the day with. The tour was fascinating and Terry adjusted the tour to meet our needs. The giant Buddha and the lunch at the fishing village was one of the highlights of our trip The fast train to Leshan was a great way to travel to the site. We could easily recommend WestChinaGo tours and if we return to Chengdu we would book them again
Great tour, great guide! He was very knowledgable and friendly, our kids loved asking him questions! We would have never known so much insight if we did tour on our own accord. Well organised and great communication when booking it :)
Withjin a day's ride from Changdu, this is one of China's most spectacular religious monuments. Your can climb the mountain and see the BudhhA FROM THE TOP AND/OR CLIMB TO THE BOTTOM AND LOOK UP, OR SEE IT EASLY FROM A BOAT RIDE ON THE RIVER.

Flora was a tremendous guide, and this was a tremendous and very well organised day! Flora - who is very relaxed, chatty and full of interesting information - met us at our hotel, ahead of a short metro, and hour or so train ride to Leshan. From there we were met by a driver who took us to a local hot spot for some super-delicious food. Flora ordered perfectly, and was also kind enough to jot down a few other dishes and restaurants that she thought we might enjoy back in Chengdu. The Buddha is an jaw-dropping feat of design and engineering, Giant indeed, and we took the not very hard route down to its feet, and back up and though the UNESCO national park, all the time, happily nattering away. Travelling back, we could not help but notice the traffic jams from the train window, and were very pleased that we opted for this time saving, and scenic option. We highly recommend this day tour, and Flora as a guide.

This place is quiet special , they have carved palaces into the mountain. They have carved statues into the mountain with masterful precision. There are several huge Buddha’s inside and another massive one on the outside of the mountain facing the river . Well worth to visit .
The giant Buddha is really big. Actually, it is said that this is the largest sitting Buddha in the world. This buddha has good Fengshui and had helped avoided flood disaster during ancient times. Plus, food in the city is so delicious. My mouth is watering now. Lol

Our guide, Terry, was really nice and knowledgeable. The lunch provided was good, too even though the food was very oily. However, the trip out there took FOREVER. It was 2.5 hours each way. Also, we had to pay 70 RMB extra each to see the entire Buddha. The line to climb down was INSANE, so we skipped it. As we were waiting in line for the boat to see the Buddha, we were told that the water was too law, and the only we we could see the Buddha was by speedboat. So that's what we did. It was kind of annoying because the boat took us out there, let us take pictures for 5 minutes, and then took us back. Only about 10 minutes total trip. Plus, this trip was VERY overpriced. Only do it if you have money to burn in your pocket.

We took the tour to Leshan with our fabulous guide Winnie. It started with a fast and comfortable train ride to Leshan. Then a short boat trip to see the buddha. This was very enjoyable and beautiful. Winnie our guide was so knowledgeable and funny. I had such a great time. I have a bad hip, awaiting hip replacement so I could not do the climb to the feet of the Buddha. It did not matter the boat viewing was better. Winnie was so helpful and thoughtful to this temporarily limping tourist. The trip on the train was really fast and great. We had a fabulous lunch with fantastic food as part of the tour. The bridge and fishing village were also interesting as were the cave tombs. I highly recommend this tour. Now let me say a bit more about Winnie. She met us at our hotel and was with us the entire day. She was from the Leshan area and was oh so knowledgeable. If you do this tour please ask for Winnie and you will be rewarded with an amazing day.
To say that I had a tremendous experience would be an overwhelming understatement. Amy X. was exceptionally early and punctual in all of our agendas. Incredibly personable, friendly, intuitive, knowledgeable in historical facts, has keen culinary interest, well spoken English. We sang Beatles songs and had some good mood food after the tour. Should I ever venture into a business in tourism in Chengdu I would surely hire Amy. She has an indelible passion for all the great ornaments Chengdu has to offer. Thanks a million TripAdvisor & please thank Amy X. I left my heart in Chengdu.

I was on a week-long business trip in Chengdu and wanted to go on an exciting excursion before returning to the U.S. After a quick research, I came across with the Giant Buddha in Leshan and thought this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-see. Originally, I was planning on doing this by myself, but I ran out of time to do all the necessary research for it (how to get there, etc.), so I decided to hire a guide. Based on excellent customer reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided to go with West China Go. The reservation process was quick & easy. My guide was Jamie who was a very friendly & knowledgeable young lady. She picked me up from my hotel promptly at 7:30 am and we walked to the nearby subway station, which was something I really wanted to do after riding a car for business for the entire week. Knowing that I was going to do this excursion myself originally, Jamie showed me how to buy tickets, where to transfer train, etc. On the high-speed train, we chatted about her past travel experiences and she seemed to be a very experienced traveler herself. After we arrived to Leshan, a car was waiting for us and after a short ride, we got to the gate of Giant Buddha. Jamie explained to me the historical significance of this place, and when we got to the top of stairs, OMG the Buddha was right there in front of me. truly breathtaking. Due to the time constraint and a huge crowd waiting to zigzag down to the Buddha's feet, we instead decided to take a boat tour after lunch, which was a smart move. That gave us an extra time to explore temples there. What a beautiful place! During our walk, Jamie was kind enough to answer many questions that I had about China, from the history of China to Eastern medicine vs. Western medicine, etc. For lunch, she took me to the restaurant that is popular among locals, instead of taking me to a restaurant for tourists. The fact that this restaurant has been in business for over 100 years (!), that tells me how popular this place is. All the food she ordered (especially mapo tofu) was delicious! After lunch, we went on a boat tour. Lucky for me, we could get on a newer boat which was very nice. She took me to the best spot on the boat to see the Buddha. The view of the Buddha from the boat was amazing! After getting off the boat, we had a little time for a walk in the city, which was another cultural learning opportunity for me. Originally, she was supposed to drop me off at my hotel at 5:30 pm, but when I mentioned that I really wanted to see Chengdu Opera, Jamie made a quick call and helped me get a first-class seat for the show which she described as one of the best she has seen. It was a moment of my dream come true! Since she had other commitment that evening, she took me to the theater to get my ticket, showed me how to ride subway back to my hotel and where to go while waiting for the show (I had 3 hours to kill). Per her recommendation, I explored Kuanzhai Xiangzi (Wide & Narrow Alley). A bunch of small shops, street foods and the crowd.... a truly Chinese experience! Jamie returned to meet me at the theater 10 minutes before the show to make sure I got to my seat (which can be a little tricky & confusing unless you're a local and speak Chinese). Needless to say, the show was spectacular! I'm so glad to have chosen the West China Go and was very lucky to have Jamie as my guide for the day. This one-day adventure was the highlight of my first trip to China and I would definitely recommend Jamie. I would request her again the next time I visit Chengdu. Thank you for the amazing day Jamie!
WestChina.co tour company is one of the best tour companies to deal with, right from the start of our email conversation, you could tell that Lily was professional and excited to show us the sights ( in her words,"my hometown "). Experience showed when we were picked up early and guided at the bullet train to Leshan, the knowledge and passion Lily showed for this town is perfect for the traveller who wants to learn about the Giant Buddha and immerse themselves into the local life ! We had a great lunch at one of Lily's secret little local restaurants, highlight was the special fish dish ! We returned on the Bullet train and used the Metro rail system back to People's park for some Dumplings before we said goodnight. The next day we met outside our apartment and were taken to Qingcheng mountain, Lily suggested we get there earlier to avoid the crowds, it was perfect ! You don't want loud crowds of people when visiting the birth place of Taoism ! This was one very special day, we were first up the mountain, the peace and tranquility is something we will never forget, Lily kept saying we were so lucky, but I think it was all of Lily's experience shining through ! later on we called in at the irrigation system, Lily thought we would enjoy it and yes she was right again. I cannot rate WestChina.co tour company high enough, these couple of days with Lily were the highlight of our 30 day China trip !!!
A visit to Chengdu could not be said to be finished without a visit to this Giant Buddha . It is like you have to go to the Great Wall if you are in Beijing. It is situated at a cliff in the confluence point of three rivers. The Buddha was built hoping to calm the rivers and save lives. It was built more than one thousand years back.It probably reaches the height of a twenty floor building.Impressive. To reach it, you could go by road but it would be at least 3 hours one way. So this tour is what I am hoping for all along. Sitting in the comfort of a high speed rail and in 90 minutes , you will be there. Still we started real early, our guide , Lillian, waited us at the hotel lobby. She is very polite, friendly and helpful. She obviously loved her job and has many information and stories to tell. She took us to the nearest MRT station and we travel by the underground to the High Speed station. She already booked the ticket for us. (We have to give our detail to her earlier )(Also you must remember to bring along the documents for the security check ) Upon arriving, a very nice sedan car awaits me and my wife. And so we were among the early lots there . One thing is sure,. Do not go thee in the hot weather nor in the hot tourist season. Even in the off season , it took us more than one hour to get down from the Buddha head along a one-man -file staircase down to the sea level. I heard it may take you 3 hours just to wait for your turn to go down. However, it is totally worth it.Who would not go up the slope of the Great Wall if you were there? Then we have a special detour to visit a East Han Dynasty dig-inside-a -cliff cave tomb.It is probably 1500 year old . You will be surprised how already advance ans artistic they are in many aspects. I understand you can pick one among two or three choices. Remember to pick this one. It is already two in the afternoon when all these were done. We were driving back to the local town for a very good Chengdu lunch. One of the best we had.Even my wife, who could b picky, nodded with great approval. After this late lunch, we drive around a bit before going bak to the rail station where we took the High Speed train again. On departure, Lillian will make sure we know our ways or she could took us back to our hotel. We finally parted in a fashionable walk . And it is already 6.00pm And what a day !!
We took our tour with WestChina.co tour company in October. Our guide was Vinnie (Panda). She was very knowledgeable about the history of Leshan Buddha, which is a magnificent site to see . It was most enjoyable day touring with her. After the trip on the speed train back to Chengdu we were driven back to our hotel by this company designated driver. I would recommend this company to anybody who travel to that part of China.

The day didn't meet expectations. I know it was golden week and the whole of China was on the move. We left the hotel at 5.50am to get to see the Buddha . When we got there the queues were 4 hours long. I suggested a plan B. The guide was very sweet but spent a lot of time on her mobile or asleep in car or train. We then spent two hours at the train station on our return trip instead of looking at local things of interest. Lunch was very nice. So the day could have been better planned.

Great experience with our guide Heather, she is very knowledgeable and fluent in English. Leshan is quite the sight to behold, impressive structure and the confluence of the three rivers is astonishing. The caves with contemporary Buddhist carvings is also beautiful -not ancient, but still imposing and beautiful.

Penny was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the Leshan Buddha! Punctual and communicated well in English! Had a great time with her as my tour guide!

Fantastic tour! Our wonderful guide Cassie made it more like a day hanging out with a new friend (with excellent local knowledge) than like being on a tour. The Buddha is incredible, a must see. The food in the fishing village was so delicious and the view just gorgeous. Do this tour!

It was very nice trip. Starting with High speed train which is convenience and comfortable for me and my mom. We had spend a whole day in Giant Buddha. The local delicious nice lunch was offered. Highly recommended for who have a short time visit in Chengdu.

This is a great tour - but what made it truly memorable and special was my guide Penny! We had a blast - and she was able to give me lots of insight into the history of what we were seeing. She also knows all the ins and outs of navigating the sites. Fabulous day! But wear walking shoes and be prepared to walk and climb! I'm very fit and thoroughly enjoyed the physical aspect of the day, but if you aren't especially fit, you might find it a bit taxing. And ask for PENNY!!!

This tour was excellent, very well organised and trouble free. Our guide, Jamie, was very energetic, very professional and knowledgeable, a lot of fun, spoke excellent English and she made our trip a fabulous experience. The bullet train ride to and from Leshan gave us an opportunity to see a lot of great countryside and experience a little of the Chinese way of life.

The giant Buddha was amazing, both up close and from the river boat cruise and lunch at the local village was delicious. We even has some time to explore the local markets and stroll along the river.

I would recommend the trip to all but don't forget to ask for Jamie.

Lily Chen of West China Go Travel Service is fantastic! Before our travels, she was very helpful in answering all my questions about timing and food preferences. She communicates very well in English, and she is very knowledgeable about the Leshan Giant Buddha and surrounding area. We enjoyed the high speed train ride, seeing the Giant Buddha, and touring the temple grounds, the fishing village where we ate, and even old Leshan -- where we saw daily life in the market and nearby, as well as walked along the waterfront and old wall to get another look at the Buddha from across the river. At the end of the day, Lily even rode the metro with us to Tianfu Square to explain the Mao statue. A magnificent and memorable day, thanks to our guide Lily Chen.

First off, we really need to thank Lily Chen from the West China Go Travel Services for coordinating our tour. The week we were supposed to travel to Chengdu, our infant baby fell ill and we couldn't make the trip to China. Since we had already booked our tours, we contacted Viator and Ms. Chen kindly understood our predicament and rescheduled us for the tour the following week after our child recovered and graciously waived all trip/cancellation fees for the high-speed train. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Ivy, who was kind, pleasant and very informative. The high-speed train was fun and the Leshan Giant Buddha was awe-inspiring. It was quite busy that day so, with an infant child, we decided to forgo walking the many steps down and around the Buddha. We believe it would have been magnificent but we were just being cautious about our child. Instead, Ivy guided us one of the ferry boats that sailed in front of the Buddha for a wonderful view and photo ops. That was also a spectacular view. Ivy also took us to have a nice Chinese lunch overlooking the Minjiang River. We enjoyed the rustic and traditional experience. There was a lot of ground covered in one day to see one major, yet historical, landmark but it was well worth it. Ms. Chen and Ivy made the experience even more pleasant and enjoyable.

We had an amazing time. The guide Cassie was very well informed and helpful. Strongly recommend this tour.

Private Leshan Giant Buddha Tour from Chengdu with High Speed Train was one of our most memorable day trip in China due to Lily Chen, who was our local guide. Lily speaks excellent English and customized our tour as per our request. Lily genuinely enjoys what she does and made us feel at home from the moment the tour started. As part of the Leshan Giant Buddha trip we visited the nearby fishing village and had our lunch in one of the family restaurant there. The meal that we had there was one of our best meal in China. We are so glad that we followed Lilys recommendation. With Lily you are always in great hand. The Leshan Giant Buddha along with Giant Panda are must see if you visit Chengdu.

We had an absolutely amazing day with Lily from WestChinaGo Travel Service. The entire experience was incredibly personalized, well-balanced, and fun from start to finish. Lily was extremely professional and thoughtful and incredibly responsive to our inquiries and needs. Would absolutely recommend this tour and Lily!

If you want to experience a real authentic, Chinese, culture experience, then this is THE way to do it! We had a wonderful time and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Our guide, Mrs. Lili was the perfect tour guide: experienced knowledgeable, friendly and full of good humor and spirit. We ventured on to the high speed train which was a very comfortable and smooth ride to Leshan that only lasted an hour. We were the driven by a personnel river to the Leshan Giant Buddha entrance and had a wonderful time during the visit to the temple at the top of the Buddha and also when going down alongside the Buddha. After having been in awe of the giant Buddha at its feet we went on to the hike up the trail to the top. We did not go the normal route but instead went the side route that ended in a local fishing village. We were then invited for a local lunch at one of the fishermans stalls. This is the best Chinese cuisine we ever tasted and it was delicious! The traditional Sichuan kitchen is the bomb! We then proceeded along the canal that provided some beautiful scenery. Afterwards our driver took us into the area of Leshan down town where we sipped a wonderful jasmine tea at a local tea house alongside the river. Afterwards we were treated to the wonderful , colors, smells and sights and sounds of the local market in town. Our trip ended with the high speed train taking us back. Our guide, Mrs. Lili was so kind to show us the way to the ancient streets in Chengdu where we were able to browse for some wonderful souvenirs. We are very grateful to Mrs. Lily for showing us this wonderful place called Leshan and for taking us to see the giant Buddha and its surroundings. An unforgettable journey into authentic Chinese culture, which was worth every penny!

Wonderful day trip perhaps we were a little lucky with the weather as it wasn't too hot. Guide was very well informed and took us to a wonderful local address for lunch. The walk down the side of the Buddha was rather crowded but well worth it when you reach the foot and look back at the marvelous Buddha above you.

It was a very enjoyable day. Our guide was knowledgeable and she never rushed us through the itinerary like some others might. The Leshan Giant Buddha is very impressive!

We had a great time. Our guide was awesome, so informative and interesting.
This is a must see.

Great day trip with private guide with in-depth information about history and life in China, yesterday and today
Good option, you know the giant Buddha and you travel on a high-speed train, you eat in the fishing village, although I think the activity should take place earlier because there are many people waiting to go downstairs to tour the Buddha
I visited Leshan through the Westchinago agency and I only have compliments. Lilly was wonderful, efficient and friendly. Thanks to her my trip was perfect. I spent 3 days in Dujiangyang working as a volunteer at Panda Base and it was Lilly who organized everything for me. In the visit to Leshan Giant Buddha Flora was an excellent company. Very nice, dear and helpful, she knows a lot and conveys a lot of information and stories about the place. All I have to do is thank Lilly and Flora for helping me so much in China. Highly trusted people. Indicate strongly!
