The guide and driver will pick up visitors at hotels 1 by 1 from 7 to 8, transfer to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for about 30 to 45 minutes. Visit the panda park for 2.5 to 3 hours by seeing over the pandas from tiny pink newborns to giants. Admire the adorable panda babies running around their play enclosures, laying in the pool, or climbing the trees.
Afterwards, drive to the historic Leshan Buddha by a ride of 2.5 hours on the expressway. After a quick lunch, sightseeing of the world's largest sitting Buddha statue which is about 71 meters high crafted out of a cliff face. If the situation allows, the guide will take you for a closer look at the Buddha's head and feet. Find out more about Buddism and local beliefs in the Lingyun Temple next to the Giant Buddha. After 2 hours visiting at Leshan Buddha, drive back to Chengdu, end the tour at the city center of Tianfu Square.
This tour to Chengdu Panda Base and Leshan Giant Buddha was wonderful. The tour guide gave detailed explanations, and the schedule was well-paced without rushing. We saw lots of cute giant pandas, and the Giant Buddha was amazing. The trip matches the description perfectly with thoughtful service. Highly recommend!
Had a great experience with Mark. Took us through the Panda Base efficiently and we had a great time viewing the Red and Giant Pandas. The trip to Leshan was brilliant and we had a nice lunch with a good selection chosen by Mark for the whole group. The hike up to the Buddha was especially good as myself and another guest had a private tour with Mark and learned a lot about the site and everything else in general!
Bus was a little late to collect me. On arrival the group was asked if they wanted to start at the bottom and walk or get golf buggies. The majority wanted golf buggies. I wonder what we may have missed... There was no time to visit nurseries which is what I really wanted. So our visit was to older pandas. Didnt see any funny shenanigans just pens with one or two lazing pandas
Fantastic excursion into the world of legendary giant pandas! Beautiful scenery, convenient and frequent opotunities to observe the rare animals by bamboo eating or climbing the trees. Perfect leading and guiding by Mark!!!
Fabulous experience!!!! Excellent communication beforehand. Everything was perfectly arranged for us. Doris our tour guide was amazing!!! Our early morning Panda visit meant that there was no crowd, we saw so many pandas & it was awesome. Anytime after 10am- they rest - so make sure to choose an early visit. Next we went to Leshan Buddha- it’s 2.5 hours drive. We got to rest in the bus. We then stopped at a lovely Chinese restaurant- the food is pre ordered & it was delicious. We chose the walking option to Leshan Buddha- be mindful - lot of steep steps - around 30 min each way- good walking shoes recommended - choose the boat option if you don’t feel like walking. All in all excellent tour. Will definitely recommend
Wonderful day trip from HKer. Saw fluffy pandas up close and the Giant Buddha was breathtaking. Guide was nice, schedule well arranged. Worth every minute!
Pandas were very cute and our guide Terry did a great job at explaining everything and guiding us through the experience. He even helped me to loan an umbrella from the tourist center. I only wish that we could stop for a few minutes to buy souvenirs.
Overall excellent tour if you are pressed for time and want to do the two activities together. Doris and the driver were wonderful, Doris provided us with a lot of information about the Pandas and the Buddha , we didn't get to the city till 8 pm so it was a 12 hours trip to cover both locations.
The Chengdu Panda Base: Arriving before 9 AM beat the heavy crowds. We were given option to see the “old area” vs the “new area” and given the limited time, the whole group opted to go with the “new area” so we can maximize the experience, and see as many Pandas, Red Pandas, and other animals as possible (rather than spending time on queues). Did not see HuaHua but saw cubs in trees and adults munching bamboo in natural, semi-open yards. Also saw red pandas, monkeys, and peacocks! The Transit & Guide: Smooth 2 hour expressway drive in an air-conditioned coach. Our guide Mark (who spoke good English) shared history of the Buddha context (how it’s built, and the politics and funding involved during its building). Lunch: Authentic local spot in Leshan featuring fresh veggie dishes, light chili, local rice barley tea, beef soup, and classic Kung Pao Chicken! The Leshan Giant Buddha: Towering 71-meter (233-foot) cliff-carved statue at the confluence of three rivers. I opted to hike and take the steps — which was a good cardio and exercise! The cliff stairs are OK, some massive and steep, but very doable. Took about 2 to 3 hours to see all of Buddha and temples. The other option which is to take the river boat requires a fee (not sure how much — I think it’s 70 yuan) — heard that the views were awesome. Return: Smooth 2 and a half hour expressway drive back to the city. Slept almost the entire trip with the tour ending around 8 to 8:30 PM (arrival / drop off at the Tianfu Square).
In general our tour guide Doris is knowledgeable and her explanation in English is very clear and easy to understand. She also managed our group (15 pax) very well. The only let down which was a very serious one; was the bus ride was a very unsafe. The driver was speeding, show obvious sign of fatigue and composing text messages while the bus was traveling above 100km/hr. He is also very impatience and using his very loud horn excessively. For our safety we decided to abandon taking the return bus ride back to the hotel but made separate transportation arrangement ourselves.
Wonderful experience further enhanced by our guide Marina 圆圓。she is jovial, patient n knowledgeable. Enjoy the trip much.
We had a fantastic day with an excellent guide, Mark! We had just a 20 hour layover in Chengdu and this was the perfect full day tour consisting of visiting the panda research center and Leshan Buddha. Lunch was also nice with a family style setting and had both meat/fish and vegetarian options for myself. Mark is a fantastic tour guide who spoke English perfectly and answered all the questions I had about both places. The driver also drove safely and the bus was comfortable. It was the perfect day trip! Really well organized.
Panda Breeding Centre It was great seeing these magnificent animals of which sadly only a few thousand are left. The park has been done amazingly with cars whizzing you around. (Cost 30 yuan for the day.) There's 2 sections. Enclosed AC controlled and natural outdoors. Have to get there very early which is when they're most active. Also the Summer time is not the best time to visit as they prefer the cooler climate if you want to seem them outdoors. Else you'll have to see them in their AC enclosures. Leshan Buddha The boat ride needs to be in English as well for safety aspects if nothing else. Didn't know about life jacket and missed out on the commentary / history which is what you're there for. Photos they take of you are free but we didn't know till after. The walk is doable by all ages. Its not that long or strenuous and you get to see lot more vantage points.
Incredible experience! I did the half day panda tour and Mark was an excellent tour guide. He took us an excellent route which avoided a lot of crowds and had great insight into pandas. He was really helpful and kind. The tour was a once in a lifetime experience.
Mark was amazing. He was patient and engaged all the people on the tour. He was upfront about the timing and walking commitments for everything. Where we ate lunch was so pretty and he was so good at ordering our food (a guest had restrictions). I would recommend anyone go to this all day tour with Mark!
All day experience with pick up at hotel and drop off in the center of town. Mark was incredible and knowledgeable. He is awesome! Communication was excellent. Be prepared for a long day. Lunch was fast and food was great!
Doris our guide was amazing very knowledgeable patient and caring it was amazing to visit panda base we were lucky to have a closer encounter with the red pandas lunch was delicious and the Leishan Buddha visit was great too I will really recommend anyone to do this tour
The contact with the company was excellent they contact you the day before. I asked them to pick me up and they did. The guide Claire spoke very good English and was lovely. It was a small group only 5 of us so perfect. We got great views of the pandas and the red panda too. Claire was very informative about the pandas and the panda reserve. I would recommend this trip good value for money.

Visited as part of a tour group. Saw lots of Pandas (Giant and Red). A must see attraction for China as home of the Giant Panda - had a fantastic day there and ate at the restaurant.

Love the pandas, loved the Buddha. Had a great day with Doris who was an excellent guide and shared so much about the sights and Chengdu in general. My only regret is not having more days to stay in Chengdu. Made the unfortunate error to go on May 1st and the sites were very busy but Doris took us to all the key locations to see the pandas, provided really good explanations (and lots of panda funfacts) and allowed us lots of time at the Buddha statue despite the early start. Long day but worth it.
Great tour. Our guide Mark was very informative, friendly, and kept our group together. A long day but worth it to see the Giant Pandas and the Giant Buddha. Mark organised a great vegetarian meal for those who needed it - best food I’d eaten in a fortnight.

I saw both the pandas and the giant Buddha. Both were great experiences, but there is a lot of waiting involved. The bus trip to the Buddha takes over 2 hours each way, and once we arrived we queued for over an hour, as it was a busy period. Visiting Leshan and visiting the panda research base would be good day trips on their own, but if you want to see two of the most impressive attractions in Sichuan in 1 day I would recommend this tour.

I joined this English-guided tour and had a nice time. The guide spoke fluent English, showed us good spots to avoid crowds at the Panda Base and explained the Buddha’s history well. We had a group lunch around 1-2 PM—30 RMB per person, tasty Sichuan food. The bus was clean, driver steady. Relaxing and worth recommending.
We were lucky the day was good to see the panda’s unfortunately the panda’s have to be wanted to be seen😀. Barry, our guide spoke English and communicated well but we wld have liked more specific in formation relating to the panda’s and the facility. All in all I wld recommend this tour.
What an amazing trip! The weather was cool, making the whole journey very comfortable. We could get on the bus at the meeting point, and what's more, hotel pick - up and drop - off were also available, which was so convenient. The Leshan Giant Buddha was breathtaking, and seeing the pandas was such a delight. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, adding so much to the experience. It was really a fantastic tour!
It's an English guided group mixed with Europeons, Ameicans and some Asians. The tour leader Mark speaks English pretty well and makes himself understood all the way. Panda base is large and clean, very well organized too. Worth the money, good choice to travel around the city.

very nice experience, our guide Mark speaks fluent English and he knows the route to watch pandas where it is less crowded. He always took care of me on the way as I'm a senior. The ride to Leshan Buddha is pretty long but worth it, really amazing buddha statue. Mark recommended a garden restaurant serving Sichuan dishes at affordable prices , I enjoyed it very much! would definitely recommend this tour.
I loved this tour! Judy was a wonderful guide, very kind and knowledgeable. We arrived just in time for the pandas’ breakfast, so they were very active. They are so cute! The Leshan Giant Buddha was also wonderful, and I really appreciated being able to see both sites in one day. I highly recommend this tour!
A slower start with some delays on setting off but was so pleased that no time was cut from our time at the pandas or the Buddha. Mark is an amazing guide and has so much knowledge on all the places visited and is an all round great guy! Lunch was an amazing experience. Not included in the price but taken to a lovely local spot which is tucked away.
The visit was fun and our guide Mark was a very friendly guide. The tour lasted longer than advertised (ours ran from 7am-7.30pm) but that's always to be expected in China, just prepare for a full day of activity. The ride from the panda base to Leshan can take about 3 hours so this tour isn't for everyone, it's a lot of sitting on the minibus. However it was a very easy and comfortable way to get to the pandas and the Buddha without the hassle of trains and buses and taxis. We had some delicious lunch in Leshan too (not included in price) which Mark helped us order.
It is something that could be improved, and I would bet on other options. The guide was not very empathetic and seemed more interested in rushing us than in paying attention.
