My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this exceptionally beautiful hotel. With a renovated section housing the entrance, bar, and restaurants, and a new, modern wing featuring guest rooms, outdoor facilities, a pool, and a fitness center, it’s one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever visited. We were upgraded to the Temple Suite (90 m²). It was beautiful, modern, and equipped with all the amenities, such as charging cables, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When we arrived late for breakfast after a sporting event, they went out of their way to prepare something special for us. The hotel’s location in Chengdu couldn’t be better.
One of the most unique luxury hotel experiences I’ve had in China. Located beside Daci Temple and directly connected to Taikoo Li, Upper House Chengdu beautifully blends a restored Qing Dynasty courtyard with striking contemporary architecture. The contrast between heritage and modernity is what makes this property so memorable. The Temple Suite felt more like a refined private residence than a hotel suite, featuring a spacious living room, warm timber finishes, thoughtful design details, and a beautiful oval bathtub that quickly became my favorite spot in the room. What truly sets Upper House Chengdu apart is how it goes beyond being simply a design hotel. During my stay, I participated in the House of Healing wellness retreat, including mindful yoga, breathwork sessions, skincare treatments, and a wellness-focused brunch. Combined with the peaceful atmosphere of Mi Xun Spa, the entire experience felt restorative and intentional. The location is perfect, the service is polished yet genuinely warm, and every detail feels thoughtfully curated. Easily one of my favorite stays in Chengdu and a property I would gladly return to.
We visited Chengdu and stayed at Niccolo Hotel, but after spending so much time at Upper House Chengdu, we genuinely regretted not booking our stay there instead. During our trip, we visited all of the restaurants and the bar at Upper House Chengdu, and every experience was exceptional. From The Temple Café to Tivano, Mi Xun Teahouse, and Jing, each venue had its own personality, atmosphere, and level of refinement. The food was beautifully presented, the service was warm and polished, and the overall feeling was exactly what you hope for when visiting a luxury hotel in Chengdu. A special mention must go to Alex, who made our experience truly memorable. He took the time to introduce each menu in detail, explained the concepts behind the different restaurants, helped us arrange reservations, and made everything feel effortless. Beyond the hotel itself, he also recommended local spots around Chengdu, which made our trip feel much more personal and authentic. What impressed us most was the genuine hospitality. Alex even added our WhatsApp so he could help us arrange a hotel booking for our next visit to Chengdu. That level of care and follow-up is rare, and it made us feel completely looked after even though we were not staying in the hotel this time. Upper House Chengdu is elegant, calm, beautifully designed, and full of character. The restaurants and bar alone are worth visiting, but after this experience, we already know that on our next Chengdu trip, we will stay at Upper House Chengdu. Highly recommended.
We booked three upgraded rooms through AMX for a total four-day family trip at the Upper House ChengDu in May 2026. Lots of outdoor space in the hotel, hard to find in the city center. Location is 10/10. Back door leads into a high end shopping center. Lots of food selection cross street from front entrance. We are at three restaurants
