Just came back from Yunan trip, Dali Hilton was my first stop and received wonderful care from them. Modern facilities, large bathroom and comfortable bed is great for free and easy long travel journey. Breakfast was ok, very crowded though.

The setting is beautiful and the atmosphere is very good.
I stayed here for one night. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay; here are the highlights and the areas that fell short. **Highlights** 1. The scale of the resort and the beautiful view from the lobby. 2. The quality of the Premier Room provided as an upgrade for Diamond members. 3. The quality of the Executive Lounge, as well as the variety and quality of the food during happy hour. 4. The quiet atmosphere. 5. The cake provided for my anniversary was delicious—truly the best hotel-provided cake I have ever had. **Areas for Improvement** 1. Some difficulties communicating with staff in English. 2. The breakfast and lounge offerings were heavily skewed toward Chinese cuisine; they did not quite meet the standard of an international buffet. 3. A lack of information regarding hotel facilities. 4. The location is about a 25–30 minute taxi ride from the Ancient City. It was a good experience. However , if I were to visit Dali again, I would likely book accommodation closer to the Ancient City or Erhai Lake for the same price.
A Blend of Excellence and Missed Potential My recent year-end visit offered a stay that was, overall, comfortable and enjoyable, though not without a few notable areas for improvement. While I found the accommodations and culinary service to be of a high standard, one aspect of the experience was unfortunately below the expected benchmark. Highlights of the Stay - Impeccable Accommodations: The room was presented in excellent condition—well-maintained, warm, and comfortable, providing a perfect sanctuary during the colder weather. - The Executive Lounge: The lounge is a beautiful space and looks truly inviting. The selection of food and wine is commendable. - A Small Suggestion: It would be lovely to see a sparkling wine option added to the selection, though this is a minor point given the overall quality of the experience. - Outstanding Hospitality: The service team truly elevated the stay. The staff were professional and attentive. - Special Mentions: In particular, the staff member at the front desk was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Additionally, the manager and team member in the breakfast area were exceptional. Despite the busy morning rush, they ensured that guest requests were handled promptly and with a smile. - Breakfast Variety: The morning buffet offered a wide and varied selection of dishes. The Spa Experience: An Area Needing Attention As I had hoped to spend a significant portion of my trip relaxing in the spa facilities, this aspect of the stay was quite disappointing. - Maintenance and Safety: The condition of the sauna requires immediate attention. The wooden fixtures appear worn, with some elements looking unstable, which unfortunately creates a sense of unease rather than relaxation. The steam room also needs refurbishment, as it currently feels cold and has a lingering musty odor. - Size and Ambience: Given the scale of the resort, the spa area feels quite compact and lacks the vibrant atmosphere one might expect. Dining and Ambience While the breakfast selection is good, there is room to elevate the quality of the pastries. Furthermore, the indoor dining area can become quite congested. - Guest Preference: Personally, I would love to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor lake views rather than sitting in the crowded indoor area. - A Recommendation: Installing outdoor heating for the terrace would be a wonderful addition, given the great view, allowing guests to dine al fresco comfortably during the winter months.
I only stayed one night at this hotel as my final destination in terms of lodging was a local B&B in the same area. Anyway, I was impressed by this Resort Hotel. It is very big in terms of width, not height. The lobby itself is also wide and splendid to look at, with many spots to just sit and relax. The rooms itself are big in size, clean and modern. The whole hotel is very clean and elegant to walk through. But most importantly the views from them are amazing over the Lake area and/or the the Canshang mountain range. As fitting for a Resort this size that caters to domestic and international travelers, all the Front Desk personnel spoke fairly good English although apparently no one else in the Hotel. But that's okay, it's China and they can do everything they see fit. Anyway, there is also a big terrace where you can sit for hours enjoying the relaxed Dali atmosphere overlooking the Lake, order something to drink if you want or even bring your own drinks and food, something that surprised me but that apparently is pretty normal from what I saw around me. The customer service was impeccable everywhere in the hotel. I invited my local friend to dinner at the excellent Chinese restaurant on premises (they also have a separate Western style restaurant on a different floor) and paid only $25 for everything. All in all, I would come back to this Hotel, especially considering the fact that I paid much less for 1 night than at any comparable hotel worldwide.
