Everything was excellent overall — the views are stunning. If you can, book the Light of Dawn room that faces the mountain (not the ones facing the courtyard/pool). Service was attentive and proactive: they accommodated every request, including driving us by buggy to a restaurant outside the hotel and arranging a buggy to bring us back. The hotel grounds aren’t large, but the property borders a park with a great walking area across the lake. The hot springs are slightly outside the main hotel area, and the hotel provides buggies to get there. Honestly, that made it even better — the hot springs complex is beautiful, with many pools at different temperatures (from warm to very hot). The massage was also excellent. Downsides: cleanliness and staffing. We visited in the off-season, and it felt understaffed — at breakfast/dinner staff didn’t consistently clear used plates. Even in non-smoking rooms there was a faint cigarette smell. The hot springs area could be cleaner too: leaves weren’t always removed from the pools and some areas weren’t cleaned promptly after guests left. During the day the hot springs can get crowded, so I’d recommend going in the evening. The breakfast also was not good in terms of food options.
