Our tour was booked through the desk at Hotel Campanille Casablanca which we also panned in a separate review: ("Should be Called Hotel Champinion" https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293732-d14111085-r918943192-Hotel_Campanile_Casablanca_Centre_Ville-Casablanca_Casablanca_Settat.html?m=19905). On September 29, 2023 we paid $35 US / hour for a 3-4 hour guided tour. This was similar to many other tours with positive enough reviews listed on GetYourGuide, Viatour & Tripadvisor. The van was modern, clean and seemed safe. The driver was a 30-something man casually, yet well-dressed. He showed up on time and took us directly to the Hassan 2 Mosque as scheduled. That's the positive stuff. Then it started to go south. Our "tour" then turned into a mostly uninformative taxi drive-by through a few of Casablanca's notable but mostly "meh" landmarks and a bunch of generally dismal looking neighborhoods. We enjoyed a few unscheduled minutes watching some race horses walk sown the street... and an then we got to the entirely unscheduled, and unpleasant 1-hour stop at a carpet shop with the "meter" running all the while we were in the shop. Details follow: • The stop at the rug shop was on a sketchy dead-endy looking back street. • The driver stalled our departure from the stop pressuring us to go into the shop even though we said we didn’t want to be there. • We patiently sat through the sales pitch in the shop for 45 minutes while the meter was still running in the cab - at a cost of $35 an hour. • We made our excuses to get out of the shop and back to the van without buying anything. • The shop was and the driver were clearly in collusion. We were back in the van and indicated we wished to leave. Yet he kept the car parked, ignition off, with windows and doors open for a delayed period of time which allowed a man from the shop to approach, put his head, arms & torso inside the open van door/window, and continue to pressure us to buy a rug even after we said NO several times, and asked the driver to close the doors and windows and leave. • Because the man was physically inside the vehicle and the driver made no effort to advocate for us or leave we became fearful of our safe & timely return to our hotel unless we agreed to buy merchandise from the shop. And that's how we ended up buying an overpriced rug we didn't want in the first place. We wouldn't mind it one bit if the operator offered to make refund the $140 they charged us for that "tour." When we finally got back to Hotel Campanille we were pretty upset. We immediately went to the hotel desk and complained to the hotel manager - who couldn't have cared less. We travel a lot and have been to more than a few parts of the world where tourist commerce operates in the broad, deep gray areas of haggling in open stalls and narrow, dim alleyways. Sometimes it's fun. Sometimes you spend 20 minutes bickering over what you later (shamefully) realize was a 50¢. Sometimes you'd just rather not be bothered, hope vendors get the hint an move on. Mostly it's over quickly enough and you have a good tale to tell back home whether you end up with a tchotchke or not. Learning to be comfortable with being a bit uncomfortable is the point of travel. This was the first time we ever felt a prolonged sense of being NOT OK about the situation we were in. So we are sending up a flare to future visitors to Casablanca... This tour felt shady. Hotel Campanille could do better for it's guests.

Achraf was an excellent guide and provided a complete overview of Casablanca. The gorgeous mosque was a definite highlight. We recommend!
Ashrap was an ideal guide. He explained the different tourist sites, making it interesting for one to want to visit in detail. He drove us around to the Hassan 2 Mosque, and patiently waited for us to complete the tour. He then drove us to Rick’s Cafe, the United Nation’s plaza, Sacred Hear Cathedral, the Center Mall and the Morocco Mall, and ended up at the Twin Towers. He even offered to take photos of us as keepsakes of Casablanca. I highly recommend him, if you are fortunate enough to get him.
Absolute rip-off. Advertised as a 4-hour tour, in a van, with water. Although our tour guide was courteous, the entire "tour" lasted just a little over an hour (which consisted basically of a drive around Casablanca), was conducted in a sh*#ty taxi, and the tour guide expected a tip on top of the $80 paid to Viator to book this trip. We were also encouraged to buy some Moroccan tea for which we paid 22 Euros (shame on us!). In all, withthe booking fee, tip which we did add (again shame on us) and tea purchase, we ended up paying about $135 for this one-hour experience overall. We could have paid about $50 to just get a taxi for an hour to do the same tour (based on what other folks on our cruise told us). Stay away--an absolute rip-off!
Ayoub, driver - guide, very knowledgeable, friendly, polite and knows what he is doing. Highly recommend.
The tour was just okay. Most of the tour consisted of going to the mosque. He drops you off in a very chaotic line of people waiting to get tickets for the mosque. Not very organized at all and very stressful. I would suggest going instead with a tour that gets advance tickets. We knew this did not provide tickets but wasn’t expecting the mess to get in line. And you need tickets just to walk around the area or they will keep you back behind a bearer. We didn’t stop at the Old Medina or Rick’s Cafe as noted on the description. All in all just okay. Driver was very friendly though.
Hamouda was great. He spoke English well and was very knowledgeable. He was friendly and chatted about things we passed. Stopped for photos and took us to all the interesting sights in Casablanca. Safe driver and a clean car. Would highly recommend.
I had to organise transport for eight of us on a golf trip to Casablanca, and after contacting a bunch of different companies, I’m so glad I went with Shuttle Layovers. Their van was by far the best I was shown — a really comfortable, high-spec Mercedes with air-con, automatic doors, phone chargers and even a portable phone. And the price was excellent too. Our plans changed at the last minute — we had to adjust the day and route so we could stop at the airport to pick up our golf clubs that hadn’t made our flight — and the company couldn’t have been more accommodating. Communication was brilliant from start to finish. The driver was lovely, drove safely, and the guide was friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we saw all the main sights. He even took loads of great photos for us, which was a nice touch. It’s always a bit stressful organising things for a group, but Shuttle Layovers made everything so easy. I honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough — five-star service all the way.
It was excellent! Our driver Noureddine was very professional and took us all around Casablanca explaining things to us!
Thanks for the tour Fantastic hospitality with me and my wife I will recommend you for my friends Muita cordialidade Recomendo
Mohamed came on time, very polite. He was accurate in explaining. His English was very good. He was very patient. We were very happy from him.
Mohammed did a great job in explaining the land and people of Morocco, showing beautiful spots along the city and even went the extra mile for all requests I had. Super experience.
Our guide was fantastic, he showed us everything, very well explained and he added value showing us extra choses we commented. We will recommended to our colleagues
There are a lot of great reviews so I don’t know exactly what happen with ours, but the car was nice and clean, our driver was great. But our tour guide was difficult to understand and love Gus for some time. I didn’t give us proper dress code a tire ahead of time. And when we wanted to go to market, we felt we were taken to the stores that he had connections with. He also begged us for a good review because he realized very early on how uncomfortable we were.
This was our first time using Viator to book a tour. I was nervous being in a foreign country where I didn’t speak the language and was not using the cruise company’s tours. All of our fears were for nothing!! We had the most amazing tour with Mohamed!! He listened to us and took us everywhere we wanted to go. He had great conversations with us about the culture of Casablanca and Morocco. We learned so much!! We will definitely be using Viator in our future travels!! Thank you for pairing us with such a great guide!!
This tour was fantastic. Adil is friendly, knowledgeable, informative and ensured that I saw all the highlights of Casablanca. He offered to take pictures, and really ensured that I had the best time I could for the day. This particular tour ensures that you don’t have to line up at major attractions, which is important with how poplar the Hassan II Mosque is. The other benefit was being able to book for a single person, where most other tours require a minimum of 2 people. As a solo female traveller I felt safe, Adil ensured that I was taken care of and drove really safely. Highly recommend this tour and Adil specifically.
Abdul took us to all the locations on the itinerary and explained what they were all about. He was in no rush to get our tour over with and he had a great personality. We enjoyed the tour very much
Nourreddine was a wonderful tour guide. He was excellent at communicating before and during our private tour. The cost was very reasonable. He was patient, kind and informative. He shared all the top tourist attractions of the city. He told us about history, religion and culture. He enthusiastically answered all our questions. He was very flexible and accommodated our desires to go shopping and make stops not originally on the tour.
My driver customized a tour of Casablanca for me. I was able to see the places I wanted to see in particular. He is a proud Moroccan and shared many special things about this special place. He was courteous, a competent driver in a very nice car, calm, and personable. We had a good time.
This was an amazing addition to enhance the cultural and educational experience. I loved every moment of it. I’m coming back.
Great overview of Casablanca! Had a great time, would recommend Walid as a tour guide ! Very knowledgeable about the country and history
Amine did an excellent job in showing us the beautiful city of Casablanca! He seems to know everyone in the city and helped us see many sites quite efficiently!
Mohammed was a gracious tour guide. This was a wonderful introduction to Casablanca. I felt very safe in his company and learned a lot about the history of the city.
This was one of our favorite tours in all of our travels. The Hassan II mosque is a must see. And Walid is the guide you want. He is so kind and knowledgeable. Walid is amazing. We highly recommend this tour!
Excellent tour with the highlights of Casablanca and many insider stops for shopping and treats. Our tour guide had a great sense of humour, highly recommend!
Salah is a terrific guide. He’s friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable about Casablanca and all history of Morocco.
Salah gave us one of the best days ever. He took such great care of us - touring Casablanca, helping us at the ATM machine, assisting with lunch, cocktail and dinner arrangements. Salah is so friendly and has given us such useful information about Casablanca and Morocco. Highly recommend!
My wife, two friends and I had an amazingly memorable trip with Salah today in Casablanca. He masterfully gave us a guided tour in his new, spacious van. He arranged for entry to the main mosque, to Rick’s Café, and to the greatest lunch and dinner spots. Very good English, very knowledgable, and, above all, a great sense of humor. Today is a memorable highlight for our tour of Morocco.
Walid our guide was very welcoming and put you at ease immediately with his friendly disposition. His tour was very informative and scenic. It was a solid four’s hours exploring Casablanca with a bonus referral to a local restaurant that provided a tasty three course lunch for a fair price.
Trip was amazing. Tour guide Salah is great. We saw everything in Casablanca with lot of informations, friendly athmosfere and good car
Nice selection of sites. Detailed information at each stop. Always available to adaptations of the program. Additional information very useful.
This tour exceeded all of our expectations! From the initial booking process to the final drop-off, everything was seamless. Our guide, Walid, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area, bringing the history and culture to life. The itinerary was well-planned, allowing us to see all the highlights without feeling rushed. We especially loved the medina. We would definitely book another tour with this company!
I had a great experience with Salah. He is very knowledgeable and speaks great English. There was a bit of miscommunication on my end as I walked to the Hassan II mosque however Salah just picked me up from there. Salah is a great driver and told me a lot about the history and culture of Morocco and Casablanca. He also gave lots of good recommendations and was overall very helpful.
Best way to spend my 12-hour layover in Casablanca. My private tour driver, Nabil, was amazing, he felt like family by the end of the tour. He made me feel so comfortable and safe while showing me the best of the city in such a short time. From the stunning Hassan II Mosque to Rick’s Café, a local skate park, shopping for spices, and indulging in the best pastries at Pâtisserie Bennis, every moment was unforgettable. If you ever need a guide in Casablanca, Nabil is the one.
We enjoyed a pleasant exploration of the city under the guideship of Mr. Walid, a passionate and energetic Moroccan young man with extensive knowledge of Casablanca. He is a polite driver, gives way to pedestrians, drives very steadily, and rarely honks. The restaurant he recommended was super great and reasonable.
Hamouda was a great guide! The places he took us were the highlights of our trip. He also takes great photos. He speaks very good English and he is very courteous and polite. You will feel safe when you’re with him. This tour is a definite must!
Salah was a an amazing guide! Very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to get along with. I recommend this for anyone who has a long layover and want to visit the city instead of staying at the airport!
I had an amazing day with Walid during my layover in Casablanca on my trip to Ghana. We the mosque, local market, panoramic view, Cathedral secret heart and many more place. We also experience the food and the tea. He took his time to tell me more about the history of all the places. I will definitely do this again with my entire family. Thanks to the team and especially Walid. You guys rock!
very friendly and infirmative tour with Amine and Mohammed. Highly recommended.Excellent tour avec Amine et Mohammed. Hautement recommendé. Merci
Just returned from a great tour with Mohammed Sendassi….he was very knowledgeable, had excellent English and made sure we were safe getting to and from the sights of the city. The Mosque was spectacular and definitely worth a visit- he facilitated a quick entry by booking the entry time and tickets ahead on our behalf. The transport was very comfortable and we were able to do some shopping at recommended places for genuine local craftsmen products. He was very personable and had a great sense of humour! Thanks for a wonderful introduction to Casablanca!
We had a wonderful tour of Casablanca for our first day in Morocco. We were picked us up from our apartment and we visited all of the major attractions including the Mosque. Our tour guide Sendassi and our driver Walid were very helpful, spoke excellent english, made us feel safe and answered all our questions. We really enjoyed our private tour.
Salah organized the day before a suitable time to pick us up. Salah is an outgoing and friendly guide as we drove through the streets he offered up information on history, culture and important landmarks. We even made a lunch stop that was not planned, we felt no rush with time and offered to stop off at points of interest. He recommended a great patisserie and spot for mint tea which was a highlight of the tour. Salah also sent through multiple recommendations for Casablanca and for Marrakech! He was a personable guide which made the whole trip! So thank you Salah! ☺️🙏
Nice tour with great guy Amine, get to know the city with nice explanations and a comfortable way. The mosque is a must…..
The trip guide was courteous, friendly and excited to share Moroccan history. He was accommodating and helped us take nice pictures. Overall a great experience with Walid.
Very nice tour. I would like to thank the Ayoub for your professionalism and attention. When I come back I will do the tour again.
Our guide was lovely, the car was very nice. It was good to have the skip-the-line for the mosque. The challenge: the itinerary was not the same in the afternoon as it was in the morning. There was also a plan to take us to a carpet place and I know how THAT goes - a hard, pushy sales pitch. In the end it felt over-priced for what it was.
Our chauffeur/ guide Mouhamed was EXCELLENT.he was helpful and informative. It is extra enjoyable to be driven around a city by a proud citizen. We had no prior experience with Viator but feel lucky we chose you. We will certainly tell others
Awesome experience. Would definitely come back to Casablanca and do this again. Highly recommended. Phenomenal history. Lots to see and great food to go with it.
We started the tour in a van that held 17 people. Our tour guide that was our mosque guide told us we needed to tour the Corniche first because it was prayer time and we could not enter the mosque. We were able to walk around there and take pictures. Had a great view of the mosque from there. We had a great tour of the mosque and then we had a new guide named Yahya. We made a few stops some I felt were a little too long. After we were on the tour for about 5 hours he told us he would like to go 1-2 more hours because he had so much more to show us. We finally settled on 1 hour more kind of as a compromise. He was an excellent guide with a lot of information.
Excellent service provided by my tour guide/driver- Amine. I would say it's hard to talk while driving but you can tell he's been doing it for a while. Very pleasant experience seeing Casablanca in 4 hours.
