I was very disappointed in this tour unlike other tours I have take. With Viator. The Casablanca pick - up train experience was great with a friendly and prompt driver. Upon arriving in Tangier, we were picked up at the train station at our arrival time. The driver then picked up all the other guests at their hotel which easily could have be completed before our arrival which delayed our tour start time by almost an hour The tour guide was not very engaged - for example did not even introduce himself - nor did he share much information or really tell/show us much about Tangier. The tour was to include a visit to the tomb of Ibn Battuta and the American Legation Museum which we never saw. I was very interested in seeing the museum. Our tour operator did not even mention it. He did not seem to know what had been promised. All in all - not to be recommended.

Itinerary
This recently refurbished museum is housed in the former sultan's palace of Dar El Makhzen. The focus is on the history of the area from prehistoric times to the 19th century.
The medina, the top attraction of Tangier, is a labyrinth of alleyways both commercial and residential. It's contained by the walls of a 15th-century Portuguese fortress, although most buildings are actually relatively young for a Moroccan medina.
Officially named Place Souq Ad Dakhil, this was once the most notorious crossroads of Tangier, the site of drug deals and all forms of prostitution. Today the facades are freshly painted, tourists abound and it’s a wonderful square for people-watching over a mint tea.
The Grand Socco (official name Place du 9 Avril 1947) is the romantic entrance to the medina, a large, sloping, palm-ringed plaza with a central fountain that stands before the keyhole gate Bab Fass. Once a major market, its cobblestone circle is now the end of the line for taxis, the point at which the modern streets narrow into the past.
This museum, in an elegant five-storey mansion, is a must-see: Morocco was the first country to recognise the fledgling United States, in 1777, and this was the first piece of American real estate abroad, as well as the only US National Historic Landmark on foreign soil.
This modest tomb is purported to be the last resting place of Ibn Battuta, who was born in Tangier in 1304 and became the greatest traveller of the period – outpacing Marco Polo at an easy clip. A scholar and judge, Ibn Battuta travelled across North Africa through the Middle East and then onto Russia, Central Asia and China, returning via Sri Lanka and East Africa.
Cape Spartel is a promontory in Morocco about 1,000 feet above sea level at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, 12 km West of Tangier. Below the cape are the Caves of Hercules.
Caverns where Hercules allegedly rested during his labors, with an opening in the shape of Africa.

Driver and the guide Yosef, were very good. But we walked through the souk at a fast pace without being able to shop. We were then taken back to the station with 1 1/2 hours to spare. We never got to the American Legion museum. No coffee/ tea. We should have been given more free time. I would buy my own train ticket, go do a city tour in Tangier which is a bustling big city, and take a taxi to/ from the station.
We loved Tangier and highly recommend a visit. The city is beautiful and the coastal views are picturesque. However, we don’t recommend this particular tour. Guide and company. The tour was not well paced, with too much time overlooking the coast, and not enough time enjoying the sights of the old city. The guide rushed us through, with no time for even a brief lunch or to visit the central markets. The tour ended about 2 hours before our return time, so instead of having time to enjoy the city, we sat with extra time at the train station. Our guide Joseph was very knowledgeable, with an over emphasis on the literature from the area, and not enough general history of the people and places. You may consider making your own train arrangements,l and using a local guide in the old city which will allow time to really enjoy the people, the food and the markets of Tangier
Fabulous visit from Casablanca to Tanger by train. The Tanger driver throughout the city and to the Caves of Hercules was excellent, filled by the knowledgeable walking tour guide through the old city. Wonderful and seamless from the start at our hotel to the end, back at our hotel.
The supposed itinerary for this tour mentioned several sites in Tangier. Alas, unknown to us, we could only visit a few of the sites. We assumed that the guide will take us to all the locations mentioned in the itinerary. We did not visit Museum of Casbah, Petit Socco, Socco Alto, the Tangier American Legation Museum, or the Tomb of Ibn Battouta, which was disappointing in hindsight. We did see a small and insignificant looking mosque with a simple tomb in the background. Whether this was the Tomb of Battouta we would not know as that name did not crop up in our tour. We were picked up by a Driver at Tangier train station who seemed somewhat off-handed in his attitude. He took us to Cap Spartel but didn't explain anything. It was a good day and perfect weather. We were able to see Spain, and seeing the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea was impressive. He then took us to Hercules Caves but gave us 20 minutes but no explanation about the caves. He told us we had to pay US$8 each although the itinerary stated that admission to Hercules Cave is free. He then took us to the Gate to Medina where we met our guide. We did not visited the Casbah but walked through the Medina with our tour guide. He was knowledgeable to a degree and we learned a bit about Tangier's history. We walked around the narrow lanes and alleys of Medina, and then climbed up to the top of the Fort for a view of the port. We had told our guide that we did not want to go shopping, however we were taken to a spice/cosmetics and perfume store where a man claiming to have been a Pharmacist went on and on and on about the benefits of all the products he had for sale. Suffice to say we wasted much too much time at this store and of course he tried his hardest to sell us very expensive Nigella Seed extract, and said that we will live for ever!!!, we didn't take the bait. We were then taken to a Rugs and Carpet place where we wasted a substantial period of time being shown numerous carpets, rugs and runners and of course we bought nothing as we had told the guide. All in all, Tangier could be an interesting place to visit if you have a serious guide, who is not interested in shopping trips. Of course at Viator you cannot choose your guide but may be other websites or direct contact in Tangiers may be an option. We came back to Tangiers train station and back to Casablanca at about 8 pm. Just make sure you can visit everything you want to see.
Well organized. Pick us up at the hotel on time escorted us to the train station. Yusef our guide was well informed. He brought the history alive. My only concern is the restaurant said the credit card machine was down. When we paid in cash. The exchange was much lower than Amount posted on the web.
We were expecting to see the multiple sites listed in the Tangier itinerary, but only visited 4 of the listed sites, which was disappointing. We visited the Casbah and walked through the Medina with our tour guide Youssef. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Tangier's history. We visited Cap Spartel, which was pretty great. It was a windy, cloudy, rainy day, so we could not see Spain, but seeing the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea was impressive. After that, we visited the Caves of Hercules. It was exciting seeing the caves, though we could have spent less time there to visit other attractions. We did not visit Petit Socco, Socco Alto, the Tangier American Legation Museum, or the Tomb of Ibn Battouta, as listed in the itinerary. After a short lunch, the driver brought us back to the train station a full hour earlier than we expected. I would recommend a day trip to Tangier, but maybe with a different provider. It might also be possible to take alternative high-speed trains and hire a local guide in Tangier (maybe even Youssef!) to make sure you can visit everything you want to see.
It was raining pretty hard when I got to Tangier. That didn’t allow me to see Spain or Gibraltar but Hamzid showed me a good part of the west part of the city where Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea and the cave of Hercules. The rain let up in the afternoon for when I met up with another guide in the old city. Yousef did a great job of explaining a vast history of the city and I learned many things. I would recommend this tour to anyone due to the drivers and guides. One thing that I would question is the price that Viator charges for the tour.
Our tour to Tangier was awesome. We took a high speed train from Casablanca to Tangier. The communications with the drivers through WhatsApp were great. They had signs and announcements in English that were easy to understand. Everything went smoothly logistically. The city was beautiful and well worth the journey. Highly recommended.
Amazing day! Had a wonderful time and saw so many wonderful sites. Loved the Kasba! Highly reccomend!
Driver Monsef was excellent. He took us to Pettit, Sacco, Cap Spartel &, Hercules caves. At place Di 9 Avril 1947 we were handed off to Foaud who gave us an excellent tour of the Tanger Medina, and the Kasbah. We were not offered the opportunity to go into the Kasbah museum, no explanation given. Overall, very informative day with easy transfers from hotel to train station, and bullet train ride.
Local guide for the walking tour is very knowledgeable and pointed out interesting things to us. Also, the restaurant he brought us for lunch is an excellent choice. The only complaint I have is the car that was too small for five adults.
My guide Sami was a wealth of knowledge. It was a very informative tour. He and the drivers were very pleasant and welcoming. I gave it 4 stars bcs the operator booked the speed train economy seats and with my back to the travel direction (both ways). He also wanted me to pay to change my ticket to an earlier time. I changed it for free. Still the tour itself was great.
Great to see the countryside from the train. Love the view of the strait of gibraltar and the rock of gibraltar. Beautiful city on the coast.
Excellent driver, focused on key areas, walking tour guide lacked personality and enthusiasm. Tangier has some interesting but other Morocco destination provide a bigger bang for the buck.
Full day with lots of walking. Admission fee not included for some activities, Hercules Cave. Guide very flexible with requests.
The tour was good right up until the point that I realised the tour guide was only taking me to his friends' places to eat and shop. Very disappointing.
Best Bullet train in North Africa. The last time I visited Tangier was 15 years ago. Now that Morocco offers Bullet train Casablanca to Tangier on the hour. This is the most comfortable train in all of North Africa. The government of this Kingdom has worked very hard to improve transportation in all forms including taxi, bus all have been upgraded. These are very cost effective to tourist and locals.
High speed train is the best way to Tangier. The trains & stations are modern and easy to navigate. The drivers were well organized with pick up from hotel to the Casa Voyager station, ensuring we had our train tickets, and pick up at the Tangier station, keeping us on schedule and back to the hotel. The first two hours in Tangier are a rapid exploration of the coast, including the Cap Spartel lighthouse, the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean & Mediterranean Sea and the “Cave of Hercules”. All to stay on schedule and have time to explore the Tangier markets and Kasbah. Lunch was a very tasty exploration of Moroccan food. Tangier is remarkably green, clean and relaxing. Nice to rest on the train ride back to Casablanca. It was a day to remember.
Excellent tour with informed guides and smooth transitions between them and different modes of transport. The medina and restaurant were superb and a brief stop for Argan oil very appreciated.
Tangier is great but being huddled to a shop with traditional Moroccan remedies is not touring the city. Kind of pressured to buy herbal products by the our guide (Abdul) who introduces us into the shop. Once we are inside, curtain closes. Medical magic are told without proofs. My tour group bought unnecessary products as the herbalist will throw in buy 2 gets 1 free….tactic! Next, we were led to a typical touristic restaurant offering a variety of food without giving us the menu. And the price that we paid each (200Dirm) can buy us 2-3 times more of a normal restaurant.
The logistical part of our tour was well executed, and that was important to me. However, while I enjoyed our Viator excursion in Tangier, I feel it could have been better had we had a guide whose English was stronger and who communicated what we were seeing both beforehand and during. We had to continually ask him what we were seeing. We also asked him about visiting various places and he obliged. I wondered what we missed, though, as he didn't convey what the highlights were. We did like the restaurant he chose for lunch.
The sightseeing, lunch, and the guide stands out. Sightseeing was great, the tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable on the old history, seeing up and down mountainside, seeing camels and sheep and goats, ocean view, old historic sites, etc. The guide was great.
A wonderful way to travel to Tangiers (and back) from Casablanca. When taking the bullet train, which reaches speeds approaching 300kph, it makes for a short journey in comfort (if travelling in first class), and an opportunity to make a one-day visit.
Drivers were excellent and informative. The Tour guide Abdul however was a giant waste of time. Everything listed on the tour was given 5 minutes. He walked off several times and just left us. Was on his phone constantly and lost 2 members of our group of 7. I had the best tour of my life yesterday in Marrakech and today in Tangier the absolute worst. I’d like my money refunded. I have used Viator for almost a decade and this has really changed my mind about the quality of your tour company you use. Unbelievable, first time in Morocco and this literally ruined what was a perfect trip.
We were sceptical after reading the reviews but honestly this was the best trip we have taken! Organization and communication was fantastic, really smooth journey. All of our guides Mahdi, Mohammed and Ahmed were really great! Friendly and explained everything for us, no complaints at all! Thank you all so much we had a really good day and are so glad we booked with you! Our favourite city in Morocco so far
Tangier is definitely only worth one-day visit. The whole country clearly has a good marketing scam going on, it is really underwhelming. Worth maybe 3-4 days' visit if you want to see a few cities, but don's stay longer, there isn't much to do. Tangier has a really beautiful coastline, the places where Mediterranean and Atlantic meet is gorgeous, Hercules Cave are worth a visit, but the rest of the city is kind of bland. The usual medina, narrow streets, shopping, etc., nothing else to see. The train was of a great quality and was on time. Drivers and tour guides that met us were also fantastic and very friendly.
So we did the Tangier Half-Day Guided City Tour. It started out great, took us to a lighthouse, the ocean, the Hercules caves, and a castle…. But then it took a turn for the worse. Once we arrived at the castles, we all got off of the bus and we weren’t told we would be brought anywhere besides the castle. The tour guide then lead us to a shop of herbal supplements where we had to sit through a long lecture about different products and what they could do for you, then people were asked if they wanted to purchase anything. Once the lecture was over, we went outside because we didn’t want to buy anything. This is when we started getting harassed non-stop into buying products. The tour guide disappeared for a while so we had to endure the harassment. Many people were suckered into buying stuff which only fueled the street vendors to keep pushing. Fortunately I didn’t budge. When you told them you weren’t interested, they would get upset. Our guide finally came back and lead us to a restaurant where he said we were going to eat, but nobody wanted to eat there. We all came together and told him we weren’t going to eat there and so he agreed to leave. He then brought us to a fish market and right before we entered, he turns to us and says “watch your pockets in here”. Why bring us somewhere you know poses a risk for theft?! After this, I began telling the tour guide that the beginning of the tour was great but all of this harassment and the fact that I believed he was leading us to businesses where they could suck us into buying stuff, had ruined my entire experience. My girlfriend and I had stuff on the bus so we would have just left if it wasn’t for our belongings. The tour guide offered to bring us to more markets but none of us wanted to go somewhere we needed to “watch your pockets”. I told him I wanted to go back to the bus to get my stuff and several others agreed. He called his driver and then told us that it would be 15 minutes because the driver was eating. Keep in mind, Ramadan began yesterday and this is in the middle of the day. I asked if the driver celebrated Ramadan to which the guide told me he does. So he is eating even though it’s Ramadan? Absolute lie. Once I told him how it didn’t make sense that the driver was eating during the holiday, he said he didn’t know where the driver was and that we would have to wait two hours. I told him that he could reimburse me and I would let him keep my stuff I had on the bus because I knew he wouldn’t do it and would pressure the driver to return. The tour guide was nice but proved to be shady and someone I would not trust. If I were you, I would say the the lighthouse, ocean, Hercules caves, and castle were extremely beautiful and well worth visiting. But keep all of your belongings with you at all times so if you feel yourself being sucked into a harassing tourist trap, you can just leave.
Had a wonderful time. Both our guides were amazing. And very knowledgeable. They were patient with us, allowing us to walk at our pace. Would definitely recommend this tour.
When I made the booking, the weather forecast indicated pleasant conditions, but unfortunately, it ended up raining. This dampened our enjoyment of the experience. The tour lasted approximately 6 hours in total, with around 2 hours and 10 minutes lost each way for the train ride and approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes allocated for lunch. I believe we would have enjoyed it more in better weather to fully appreciate the beauty of Tangier.
The tickets were sent ahead of time. The driver took us from our Airbnb to the train station. Explained which train to take and then upon arrival the next driver was waiting on time for us at the arrival train station. Then the tour of Tangier started. Very well spoken English and knowledgeable tour of the city.
Transport too small for 4 adults for length. Did not enjoy the walking tour guide, felt he just needed to get us through 100 places and would prefer 90 but able to enjoy the city more.
A wonderful day, perfect timing, excellent service door to door! Train was easy/fast/clean. Very cool to explore Tangier and see the beautiful coast. Would highly recommend!
I was hesitating to book this trip after reading some comments but everything went well. The hotel pick ups and trains went well. This was a nice day trip. First we were picked up at the hotel and handed our train tickets. In Tanger, we were met by Hamza who drove us around Tanger showing sites. Then we met Abdul at the Medina for a walking tour. He knows everyone and everything and showed us through the Medina. The only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the restaurant. We were low on cash so we asked for a place that takes credit cards. There are only a very few restaurants that offer this service. We went to Mamounia Palace restaurant, which turned out aweful. We informed our guide about our experience and he was very sorry. Otherwise it was nice. We only went into one shop, a herboriste shop, so off course after the demo they wanted to sell you spices and herbs but when we said no they were not insistent.
Everything went perfect, pickup and drop off was great and on time. Bullet train was great and all stops were better than expected, lunch was great. Couldn't ask for a better day. There is lots of walking and a fair amount of steps but not a problem if mobility is good. Friendly and helpful guide and driver. Highly recommend Abdoul (guide) and Mufasa (driver)
I was worried this wouldn’t be very good because of other reviews. But they showed me a ton in such a short period of time. Tangier is beautiful, the food was great, and I plan to return for a few days because there was so much to see and worth taking more time. Accommodating and knowledge guides.
Not as advertised. Missed some of the sites listed. At the train station an hour ahead of time so wasted a couple of hours there. Did not really see the Kasbah other thanwalking to the top. Very little history or dialogue from guide. No mention of the American Litigation museum. Overall quite disappointing.
Nice place to see, please do not go their on Sundays. The train seats some times you may not get nearby seats together.
They didn't pick me up and claimed that I missed the tour. it was a painful story with them and they corrupted my day. they sent me message that my pickup will be at 08:10 in the morning. at 08:10 I was waiting in my Hotel lounge waiting for someone to call or send a message. they called at 08:27 saying that the driver is waiting for you since 08:10. I asked why he didn't call or send a message. How I would know that he arrived?. any way, in 3 minutes I was outside the hotel looking for that driver, I didn't see him. I contacted them asking which car he has, and they didn't reply. after few minutes they replied " sorry sir you missed the tour".. at this point I realized that it is all fake and there is no driver or anyone, they just called me to make proof that they were there and I didn't show up. However, I asked them when is my train will be and I can go by taxi as the train station is less than 7 minutes from my hotel, no one replied. simply there were no tickets, no train and no tour. this bad experience started even one day earlier, When I called them and asked them that before they buy the train tickets I would like to upgrade my ticket from Economy to First class and I will pay the difference. I checked the price difference online and it was 10 USD for round trip. they called me back saying that it will cost me an additional 50 USD to upgrade the tickets to First class. so they wanted to charge me 5 times the price difference of the ticket. ???. I asked to speak to the manager responsible many times but no one respond, it is only one lady who reply to WhatsApp messages.? my recommendation keep away from this company, there are many other reliable tour operators with thousands of positive reviews.
It was an awful tour. Poor communication. They gave us train tickets for the return leg dated for June 3rd. Our tour was June 4th. We called them ahead of time with the ticket issues and they tour operator said that it was fine to still travel. ONCF (train operator), didn’t accept the tickets for obvious reasons and the trains were packed. We missed our train because we couldn’t get new tickets. Easy Transfers kept saying “No Worries,” but it was full of stress and all the worries if we’d make it back to Casablanca. We made it back 2 hours late on a later train and missed our dinner plans we made with friends. Plus, the tickets were not together, we had to sit separately.
The tour was excellent, although sightseeing was cut short, hence 4 stars. In the morning I was picked up from the hotel and transported to train station for 8am departure to Tangier. High speed train ride was very comfortable. Upon arrival to Tangier I was met by the diver and joined a group. The driver and tour guide were exceptional and very knowledgeable. The city is very beautiful, one of a kind. Visit to Medina took my breath away. It is beautiful. After lunch I had to cut my tour short and rush to the train station to catch 4pm train to Casablanca, while the tour continued in Medina. My humble suggestion for a tour operator- schedule a later departure from Tangier. Let guests enjoy the city without being rushed; let them have some free time to wonder around while they await departure, as there are later train departures to Casablanca.
Smooth operation, train was fun. Tangier was wonderful. Local lunch was excellent. Guide informative and funny.
Train and bus tour were OK. But local guide who led walking tour skipped two important places in iternary such as American Legition museum and Tomb of IIbn Batu. I complained but he said we dont have time but forced us to visit a shoping place.
We were picked up on time and shown to the train which was great. The tour had 4 optional admission sites, we were only taken to one. When we were hungry, we were taken to a restaurant that we did not want to eat at- it was a full blown meal at 2:00. The owner got angry. We could not find our guide. When we did, he took us to the train station with no direction. When we arrived back in Casablanca, we were never picked up for the return to the hotel and had to get a cab. However, Tangier is beautiful.
The tour ran really smoothly. Drivers were on time and very helpful and the process of getting off and on the train was great. Train ride was very comfortable. The lunch was lovely. My main issue is that the sightseeing portion of the trip was limiting.. We walked through the Medina quickly and that was it. There was nothing else to see and do. The 2 stops we had going to the Medina (the lighthouse and cave), was extra and we had to pay to see it. That was a bummer too.
Absolutely a great experience! The high speed train is easy and comfortable to take, with transport arranged from your hotel. Bashir was our tour guide and can speak English fairly well. He was extremely energetic and informative, fitting in a lot in my six hour window in Tangier. He is well known by the locals and hits all the big ticket items. I definitely would recommend this tour to anyone in Tangier!
Pickup was to be 8:15am. The time was changed to 7:15. A friend received an email that pickup was back to 8:15. We were NEVER emailed of the change. Luckily he told us!! AND our guide in Tangiers was not proficient in English and he had no teeth which made him even harder to understand. A nice man but he couldn’t tell us any more than basic information. He kept apologizing for his English. A low quality program!!
Perfect one-day trip to Tangier. Driver, (Mayd, I think) picked us up at hotel right on time and took us to the train station. Our Tangier driver Hamzeh took us up to Cap Spartel and the Hercules Cave with a couple of stops for photos along the way! He then drove us back to the center of town at the Medina where we met Bashir our guide. After a fantastic lunch we walked inside the medina and got to see souks and the markets inside. He gave us insight into the history & culture along with talking about how much the city means to him. He led my daughter the best photo spots too! Got back to the train back to Casablanca and our driver was there as we got off the train, and took us back to the hotel. Wonderful, could not recommend enough!
The guide left us at a restaurant in the Medina and couldn’t be found for over an hour. Very rushed, especially with the excessively long time at the restaurant. I would only recommend this trip to my ex-wife because I hate her.
Job well done guys! Comfy train, good maroc food, accommodating tour guide and helpful driver… 1 day is not enough to explore Tangier.
