Private Pottery Making Course

We visited Clay of Cappadocia in June 2026 with our 8-year-old son, who had never tried pottery before. He made a vase that we brought back to the United States. Our son enjoyed the workshop so much that he begged to return the next day, but we already had other plans. To make up for that, we attended a workshop when we returned to the United States. It was 5 times more expensive and had less one-on-one instructor time. If you are into pottery or thinking about trying it, this place is a good value and a great experience for all ages.

This pottery workshop with Metin at the Kapadokya Comleksilik shop was easily one of the highlights of our time in Cappadocia. Metin is an excellent teacher: patient, welcoming, and clearly passionate about his craft. Even as beginners, we felt comfortable from the start, and he guided us step-by-step in creating our own pottery on the wheel. What makes this experience even more special is that it doesn’t end with shaping the clay. After creating your piece, you also get the chance to draw and paint pottery designs the same day, adding your own personal touch and creativity to the experience. It was both relaxing and incredibly fun. The shop itself is also worth visiting. There are three separate rooms filled with beautifully painted ceramic pottery, showcasing stunning craftsmanship and traditional designs. Walking through these rooms really gives you an appreciation for the artistry and history behind the work. Overall, this experience feels authentic and personal rather than touristy. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, this workshop offers a memorable cultural experience and a unique souvenir you create yourself. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cappadocia!

What a fabulous experience! Metin was so lovely, he pickup us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Goreme. He showed us each how to make a item, I made a vase and hubby made a bowl. He showed us step by step how make it, then wrapped it up for us to take home. His family has a shop where you can also purchase items, we got some cool little coffee cups and a plate. Highly recommend this tour

This was BY FAR the best experience we had in Cappadocia… I maybe even one of the best experiences we have EVER had on a trip! The family-run business has such a special feel and learning about their lineage and how they have passed the craft down through generations was inspirational and made the workshop even more authentic. Even with no past art skills, our pieces turned out beautiful thanks to the help and guidance we received while creating our vases. There are so many options that you can choose from to create, including options to paint the pieces or add 3D aspects. We walked out with the pieces we made and on the transport back to our hotel we were shown where the different types of clay they use is sourced from. It is a unique and incredible experience that you MUST add to your itinerary if you are planning a trip to Cappadocia!

Metin is a master 4th generation potter, it was a privilege to spend time with him, we also met his father and his family. It's hard to overstate how nice Metin and his family are, and they make this experience unique and one not to miss.

Our pottery master was wonderful! He was very patient and a very good communicator on how to make a beautiful piece! If you plan to paint it expect 3-4 hrs from pick up to finish.

Most amazing experience in the area! Get pointers from a master potter on how everything is made. For the novice he will teach you the basics, for the experienced he gives amazing pointers and can tell you all about the history and how it is all done from digging the clay from the hills to glazing and firing. Would recommend for anyone, a wonderful activity for all ages. There is also an authentic underground store nearby that is quite the sight to see- it used to be a cave house!

What a fun experience. This was my first pottery class so I was a bit nervous. Methin did such a great job giving instructions that it felt easy. I love the piece I made and happy I have something to cherish for a long time. 10/10 would recommend.

I had an amazing pottery class with my wife. Metin, the master, along with the other pottery masters, are extremely passionate, and it truly shows throughout the session. The explanations were clear and precise, and we had such a wonderful time. The works created by Metin and his family are stunning and definitely worth a look. They are true artisans and genuine artists. I highly recommend this experience!

My husband and I had an incredible time with Metin and his cousins! Metin is an incredibly patient and descriptive teacher. He made everything look and feel so easy! I appreciate how he let us do everything on our own and gave us a lesson on clay types and the process of traditional pottery making. The shop is beautiful and in a cave so I definitely recommend bringing a light jacket or something warm if you get cold easily like I do!

Metin is an incredible host and even better artist! His talent has been passed down for four generations and there is a huge display of his work. Metin briefly taught us about the history of the clay and the importance in turkey. The experience was incredible. Metin is a really good and patient teacher. There is a wide variety of options and lots of space. It was my boyfriend’s first time at a pottery experience and I didn’t anticipate him enjoying it so much and wanting to go back. I definitely recommend!

This experience started with a beautiful drive through Ürgup which set the mood to what would be a fun, unique experience. Once we got there we were welcomed by two brothers who are the fourth generation of pottery masters. Not only they know their art well, but also are the kindest and most patient men in the world. The information on the óptions was presented clearly and there were many to choose from! The class is personalised and Metin, the máster and teacher, guides you kindly into the making of your own ceramic. My husband and I spent four hours in the shop having tons of fun, learning from this art and being mesmerised by the uniqueness of his art and this ancestral art. It is a must do for anyone in Cappadocia. The space is beautiful and it is located in a beautiful área, with An amazing Restaurant next door where you can treat yourself to delicious food from Azerjaban.

Everything about this tour was memorable! We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the pottery studio where we did a short introduction about the history of clay in Cappadocia. After this the real fun began where we choose our own design and made it on the wheel. Our guide was awesome and patiently guided us through the whole process of creating our masterpieces. Afterwards we dried our clay creations and it was packed and wrapped for us to take home. It really was a memorable experience that we will remember forever.

It was a very fun experience, as me and my friend never did it before. They picked us up in the hotel and there we could do the pottery as well as painting it for 25€. Would recommended it to everyone.

Great experience! Would recommend. We were picked up and dropped off by our pottery maker and had a private session making what we wanted (there was a choice out of a catalogue) host made us coffee and allowed us time to paint our pieces as well. Highly recommended

Our instructor Metin was amazing! He was very skilled, patient, and good at teaching how to make each item. There was NO pressure to buy things or purchase add-ons. My friends and I were able to paint our pottery and take it home the same day. It was so fun, and I would recommend to others!

My wife and I attended the pottery workshop and honestly, we didn’t think we’d enjoy it that much. The perfect setting is all thoughtful for you to enjoy your time. My twin girls wanted to make pottery because we stayed at the Ajwa hotel. We joined the workshops. Mr. Osman was very kind and very kind gentleman. She was incredibly interested in girls. As in detail, Mr. Text and his conversation and work were amazing. Thank you very much! With their hospitality, they have established a throne in our hearts. We said it was good.

A great workshop we discovered while we stayed at the Ajwa hotel. I had visited several ceramic workshops before and had the opportunity to do it, but it took 10 mins and it was actually made by the masters :) So it didn’t have many memories for me. I made a pencil for my daughter today with the help of an Ottoman brain, carefully describing every detail and giving me the opportunity to do it. It's the first time I've seen a place that's so attentive and loving it. It took 1 and a half hours, from the first to the last phase. I sincerely thank the master Osman and Can, and if you’re on the road, come by.

Kapadokya bölgesinde bir çok seramik ve çömlekçi gezdik ama clay of cappadocia kadar güzel otantik ilgili sevecen bir işletmeye denk gelmedik. Çocuklarım kendi çömleklerini yaptı kuruttular üstüne boyadılar bitmiş bir vaziyette aynı gün evimize götürdük. Başka yerde çamur halindeyken o şekilde veriyorlar.
