Cappadocia Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Flight / Discovery Balloons

From pickup to drop off everything went well. Light breakfast before the ride was a nice gesture and the champagne toast capped our thrilling ride. Our pilot did an awesome job ensuring everyone had a glimpse of the breathtaking landscape of Goreme National Park.

The balloon flight was done very well. We were 3 people. The pickup was on time, the balloon was clean. Our captain Fukran had a good sense of humor and kept us entertained with his witty one liners. The full team was professional.

An unforgettable experience and an incredibly well-organized operation! Despite the cloudy skies, we felt incredibly lucky to experience Cappadocia from above. What impressed us most was how smoothly everything ran and how genuinely kind and attentive EVERYONE was! From our lovely driver, who even remembered our faces among all the passengers, to the pilot and ground crew, every single person made us feel cared for. Everything ran like clockwork, which you appreciate even more when running on very little sleep! A few practical tips: * 🎈 Flights are weather-dependent, especially outside peak season. * ⏰ Pickup details arrive the afternoon before (5:20 AM for us), but final flight confirmation comes AFTER pickup, shortly before takeoff. Set that alarm! * 🥐 A lovely selection of breakfast pastries is provided while waiting. Even without a perfect sunrise, the experience was magical! Discovery Balloons is a fantastic team, and I couldn’t recommend them more!

My experience with Discovery Balloons was professional from start to finish. Easy booking process, communication was clear, prompt pickup, very safe and clear instructions. The balloon was not crowded. Our pilot had flown over a thousand times. I was slightly nervous but more excited to check off this bucket list item that I got to do with my friend from high school. I would recommend this experience to anyone, it was purely magical. The conditions were just right. Our ride lasted a total of 58 minutes. We got to see the glorious sunrise over Cappadocia, and we popped champagne when it all ended, and they dropped us right back off at the hotel, so that's also convenient, to have pick up and drop off. Everything was timely, smooth, professional, and we even got to crack some jokes on the hot air balloon. It was a great time. Five stars overall.

The most absolutely magical and incredible experience you could ever imagine. The pilots were so professional and skilled and the overall experience was beyond worth doing again! The price, duration, and number of people were so great and it was so safe!

Great experience. The driver was punctual picking my wife and I up from our hotel for the excursion. From there the group was taken to Discovery’s office to have some drinks (water, tea etc) and pastries before we headed to the balloon launch field. The crew was very clear on the safety instructions and the balloon ride was breathtaking. We took many great photos and afterward the crew distributed flight completion certificates and offered us mimosas or non alcoholic juice and a slice of locally made cake. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend! One note - at the end of the flight we were offered the chance to purchase the pictures and videos that the crew had taken for a fee (approx 30 euros) but they only accepted cash…so bring some if you’re interested in that.

An amazing hour long flight over beautiful scenery, starting in the early morning light and watching the sunrise from a kilometre high. Furkan, our pilot, was funny and informative. The practical arrangements were faultless with an easy transfer and a small breakfast before the flight. Well worth the cost and the early start!

Unbelievable lifetime experience! Greatly exceeded our expectations. Our bus driver met us at hotel at 4:45 am, picked up passengers at two other hotels, then to a cafe for continental breakfast. Then drove to a field in the dark where we were surrounded by huge balloons being filled with air. Before lift off they help around 30 of us climb into a large basket. Lifting off was quiet and magical. The sights were incredible, slowly soaring over magnificent monuments and scenery. It was otherworldly! Seeing the other 100 balloons floating with us added to the majesty of the trip as the sun slowly rose. Our driver, Furtan (sp?) was outstanding. After an hour he actually landed us in the trailer of the follow truck. Such a smooth landing. We would recommend to everyone!

Discovery Balloons is a very well operated business . Everything was safe and we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Booking, pickup ,light breakfast and the operation of the balloon was exceptional. We were able to see so much of the area and flew low level and up higher to see most of everything. Such striking landscapes! I would highly recommend using discovery balloons for your next tour of Cappadocia /Goreme area .

The sunrise hot air balloon ride will likely be the highlight of our week long trip. Communication with the company was easy and everything was done just as it was described on GetYourGuide. We were picked up right on time, had a nice breakfast snack, and went to the departure point which was only 10-15 minutes away. Our pilot, Ibrahim, was excellent and said he’s been piloting for over 16 years. The views were amazing and I can’t think of a better introduction to Cappadocia. We were back to the hotel by 0800 for breakfast. This was a great start to our day, once in a lifetime opportunity, and something we will not soon forget!

Flight was cancelled due to wind conditions. Basically, if wind speed exceeds 8km/h the civil aviation authority refuse permission for any balloon flights. At this time of year (October), this makes bookings more precarious. If possible I would recommend taking out the additional days option if available as part of your booking. Most companies allow you to book an option of a further day or 2 of extended booking (for €50 or so) in case your first morning is cancelled. May not be so necessary during summer periods. Seems if flights do not run for a day or 2 that prices increase owing to increased demand!

An absolute wonderful experience. From the timely pick-up, the the breakfast, flight, friendliness of all the balloon tour members (driver, pilot, ground crew) and the celebratory toast afterwards, it was truly the highlight of my entire trip to Turkey.

I booked the flight for the 12th but it was cancelled due to bad weather. We tried to message them again and they have it on the 13th! It was our luck to get it. So please have more days staying in Cappadocia in case weather is not on your side. Special thanks to discovery balloon, from the Customer Support and the pilots. Our honeymoon was a memorable one. You guys deserve to be the best operator in Cappadocia.

What an experience. Would recommend this to be on everyones bucket list. Purchased this as a surprise for my fiancé 30th birthday. From pick up at our hotel, stopping off for light pastries at the their office, the flight and then return back to hotel seamless. Great pilot and staff. Very well organized and all around nice staff. We had to wait for wind to die down twice, 40 minutes each time but was finally able to go up. Well worth the time and money experience.

Absolutely stunning experience.!! Everything from start to finish was perfect, including pick up and drop off at our hotel. The flight was extremely smooth as was the landing! Yuksel and his co pilot were very friendly, clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. We had been a little concerned that with 28 passengers it might have been a bit cramped but not at all. We came with stellar expectations and it exceeded all our expectations. We were picked up in the hard to reach parking lot of our hotel in Avanos right on the minute promised (4:25 AM), had a wonderful light breakfast in Goreme, then a professional, to the point instruction briefing, loaded up, and then the wonderland magic began! The take off was smooth, watching 100+ other balloons following was mesmerizing, and oh the landscape and sunrise! No one told us we’d get to descend and hover very near otherwise inaccessible cliff dwellings, float near soaring evergreen trees, and skim low at times over moonscapes. And the views from high altitude were awesome. If I had not experienced it, I never would have believed it possible that the balloon pilot and a truck and trailer driver could elegantly dance to gently land our rectangular shaped gondola right on it’s trailer, but they did. After briefing us on how t brace ourselves for landing, he brought her hovering right over her trailer, announced, “No need to brace,” and set her down with ground crew pulling her into place. One side landed slightly on top of a trailer wheel well, so they lifted the balloon a moment, dropped an inch or two, and we were safely back on Terra Firma. True expertise!

Amazing experience- cannot recommend enough!! It’s all weather dependent and we got really lucky to be able to go. The team is a well oiled machine and had us in the basket and up in the air quickly and easily. The flight was smooth and the landing even smoother- they have this down pat. I was really quite impressed! The views are amazing and it’s a sight to behold to be up above the city with hundreds of balloons around.

It was the best experience ever! True bucket list moment. We had a lot of fun, the service was amazing from start to finish, thank you to everyone at Discovery Balloons!😁 It was a shame about the weather as the clouds covered the sunrise so we missed that, if I ever decided to do this again I would go in the summer or early September to hopefully have better weather!

The hotel pick-up and light breakfast was great and the whole process associated with the flight was extremely professional and safety conscious! Our pilot Ibrahim Dasdeler was an absolute professional and helped ease our nerves with the calm and clear information that he provided. We stayed in Marriott hotel so we were the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off. Long haul, Our balloon was set up later than others so we are far away from the beautiful area. Because the area is too crowded for 100+ balloons. Cost, two airplanes tickets to Istanbul, seems to expensive for one hour

The sunrise balloon ride is a must do activity in Cappadocia. We had a fun group which added to the experience. The operators are very professional in all phases of the experience from morning pickup to preflight preparation to the flight, landing, and post-flight return.
