At R2 400 per night (BED ONLY) this is an absolute rip off. To give context, I have booked at a Hilton Hotel on Orlando for next year at less than this. While the property is well situated and the decor is wonderful, unfortunately the experience was a bitter disappointment. Our arrival was great, greeted and welcomed by a very friendly lady. Unfortunately, I think she went away for the long weekend so thins went downhill from there. The bedroom was nice and spacious and well-appointed however the king-sized bed is one of the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. You might as well sleep on the concrete floor - at least you know what you are getting. The lack of privacy in the bathroom is unpleasant. A glass door with a semblance of frosting on the lower half is all that is between you and your partner's intimate ablutions. Said glass door was actually off its sliding rails when we arrived, I had to effect repairs myself! A well appointed kitchenette area - unfortunately only 1 cup is provided for a double room! The TV mounting bracket is at the perfect height to hit your head on as you walk between the bed and the kitchenette which I managed to do twice. We decided to have breakfast on Saturday morning. After being served coffee with the coffee grounds in the cup (the excuse was "I didn't know it was not instant coffee), we were told that one omelet was ready, should they bring it to the table or wait until both were ready. Obviously not wanting cold food we agreed. My breakfast arrived after my wife had finished hers! At R180 per head for breakfast, I would respectfully suggest that you invest in a second frying pan for the kitchen. Or teach your cook how to prepare 2 meals at once! The final straw was on checkout, I had to guide the lady on duty on how to use the credit card machine as "she was unfamiliar with this type of machine"
The room was spacious and beautifully presented, featuring a large, comfortable bed with very clean linen and a stunning bathroom. The only minor drawback was that the TV was not a smart TV. The service, however, was excellent. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and courteous, always smiling and eager to assist. The location is also a major advantage, as the hotel is conveniently situated close to Durbanville Shopping Centre and Tygervalley Mall.
What a gem of a place. Location and setting perfect. Facilities top notch. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or kind. Our room opening into the garden was gorgeous. Lots of lovely little touches that made our stay perfect - think toiletries, turn down service with little choccies, milk in fridge, towels for the pool and much much more. The whole place was very secure, clean, light and spacious. This place is a gem. Highly recommend. And the owners and staff - simply lovely! We will be back.
Great experience, the staff were friendly and willing to assist and very accommodating. They listen to requests and follow through.Rooms were clean, snack bar stocked. Overall a very pleasant experience had with Cape Pillars and will definitely go back.
