A very relaxing trip to the West Coast National Park. Took a nice easy hike through the park seeing numerous Elands and early flower blooms. Great lunch at a local seaside town. Saw Ostriches and giraffes in the park and along the drive. Excellent, pleasant and caring guide Denver made it quite a special day. Great!

During Flower Season (Aug – Sept) the landscape is covered in a myriad of colours, while year-round the unique countryside offers a contrast between wilderness and ocean. This private tour offers you the flexibility to choose how long you would like to spend in the West Coast National Park, and what you would like to do. There are many short walks and hiking trails; the up-close detail and beauty accompanied by the wonderful scents, will remain with you forever. For lunch, you’ll have the option to decide between two fantastic restaurants; one within the park, and the other in the seaside town of Langebaan. Feel free to ask your guide for his recommendation. End-off the day sipping delicious sundowners and drinking in the views of Table Mountain and the Mother City from Blouberg Beach. — Itinerary — After pickup from your Cape Town accommodation, you’ll travel in a comfortable minivan, stopping along the way at a farm stall on the R27. Arriving at the West Coast National Park, you’ll have roughly three hours to enjoy the park and its picture-perfect scenery. Explore this bird lovers’ kingdom situated along the Langebaan lagoon’s azure waters. The strandveld bursts into a tapestry of wildflowers during spring (Aug-Sept), where you might also spot wildlife, such as ostriches, eland, bontebok, springbok and tortoises.
Choose to drive along the scenic routes or hike along the 4.6 kilometre Bakoor trail with views of the Langebaan Lagoon. Starting at the Langebaan gate, and taking you through to the Seeberg View Point – which is an ideal place to spot some of the rarer bird species found in the park, including the Curlow Sandpiper, Sanderling, and Knot. Alternatively, the 7 kilometre Geelbek trail take you all the way to the beach.
For lunch (optional extra), choose between staying in the park or moving on to the quaint seaside town of Langebaan. If you would like to remain in the park, dine at Geelbek restaurant, situated in an old Cape Dutch building, offering an array of West Coast traditional delicacies. If you wish to explore a little more, and enjoy a seaside setting, then lunch at Pearly’s restaurant in the charming fishing town of Langebaan is a must. We had a great time exploring the West Coast National Park, visiting Langebaan for lunch, and capping the trip with coffee/cocktails at the Blue Peter Hotel in Cape Town. Gerhard, our tour guide, was very informative and knowledgeable. Our first stop was breakfast at the West Coast farm stall for coffee and rusks. It was our first taste of rusks. We loved it. At the park, we were lucky to spot a herd of Elands by the road. We had a close-up view. We saw a family of Ostriches. We took a 2 km hike of the Bakoor trail and spotted a turtle (Angulate Tortoise). Neat. We had great pics of the scenic coast and lagoon. Thanks Gerhard!
It’s a bit of a long drive, but if you’d like to walk/hike, it has wonderful options. We took one 7 km hike that was in land. We recommend you take any hike that is on the coast because it would be more scenic. We enjoyed our hike because we felt like we were on the plains of Africa, but at the same time we were in the West Coast for a reason to see the coast. Later, we spent some time on the beach and that was very nice. our Guide TK was incredibly insightful, intelligent, sensitive, gentle, and totally amazing. We were so blessed to have had him as our guide. Thank you, TK!
This Tour exceeded all expectations. Gerhard, our guide was amazing. He was very professional, informative and friendly. We saw the magnificent wildflowers and plenty of animals and we had a beautiful lunch and a lovely sundowner at the end of the tour. Oh and we were given a lovely ‘penguin’ support bracelet which we wore our whole tour. It is nice knowing I’m some of our $$ are going to a great Cause. We highly recommend this Tour.
I booked this day trip from Cape Town as my husband and I love nature and wanted to see the fynbos. I couldn't recommend this trip enough. We went in September which was the perfect time for the flowers and our wonderful guide Gerhald took us to a local farm shop, some fantastic bird watching and animal observing spots throughout the national park. Gerhald was really knowledgeable and took his time with us so we never felt rushed. We were lucky to see so much wildlife and a beautiful sunset on the way back into Cape Town. It was really worth saving up for and will be a day we remember forever.
Great day exploring the West Coast National Park and surrounding areas with our fabulous guide Gerdhard, who was very informative/knowledgeable about the area. He took us to a quaint farm stall for morning coffee and rusks, then onto zebra spot within the National Park. Blossom season in full bloom and lots of time to explore which was great, then onto Pearly’s in Langabaan for a bite to eat (great food) then sundowners watching the sunset on Table Mountain. A really enjoyable and relaxing day.
We had a fantastic trip with the best tour guide Denver! Loved the views and interesting facts Denver told us! Thank you so much!
We had an awesome trip with the best guide Denver! He had a big knowledge about every spot. Thank you so much
The tour of Westcose National Park was amazing, just filled with flowers as far as the eye could see, and it was also great to see so many endemic wild animals, birds and plants of South Africa. Just very unfortunately, $200 disappeared from my wallet while I was on tour. I noticed that I didn't spend any cash there, only my card, and when I got home to my hotel I didn't have $200. I left the bag in the car for just five minutes. Everyone around you thinks you're a thief, so be careful!
