I've been in South Africa so many times, and always with Hotspots2c. I've been there on this tour to Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek for 3 times and now was my 4th time and of course it was perfect again. Our guide Uriel I already knew and it was amazing to meet him again with all his patience, friendship, knowledge and i can say that we had lots of funny moments with all group. He's more than perfect!!!!! We've been in 3 amazing wineries and all were perfects and with amazing wines. The first one (Farmview) was my preferred. I can't wait to visit Cape Town again and I'm sure I'll want to be back with Hotspots2c. ❤️🇿🇦📍🤩

Itinerary
-- Please Note: This tour may be outsourced to a different tour supplier. -- Meet your guide at your accommodation in central Cape Town, and then set off in an air-conditioned minivan to begin your full-day tour of the Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek Winelands. Our wine experts custom-designed this tour to give you a real taste of the Cape winelands region. Sample local produce, learn about flavour profiles and vintages and savour time sitting back and sampling some of South Africa’s finest with lines upon lines of vineyard views. Your day starts on the south-western slopes of the Paarl Mountain Range where incredible views and a farmer's tasting experience await at the world-renowned Fairview Estate. You'll pair artisanal cheese, produced at the onsite cheesery with fine reds and whites, giving you an out-of-this-world pairing experience coupled with the in-depth knowledge of the wines you are tasting.
Continue on to the quaint town of Franschhoek to uncover the beauty of this region aboard a vintage style railway tram while sipping on a glass of world-renowned vino from the surrounding vineyards, with one stop at a local wine estate - either Rickety Bridge or Plaisir Wine Estate, subject to the train's daily route and availability. The tram ride usually last about 5 minutes to the wine tasting farm.
When the wine is flowing, it’s easy to work up a big appetite, so it’s off down country laneways lined with leafy vineyards to the foothills of the Franschhoek Valley for a well-earned lunch stop. Whether it’s the weekend farmer's market or a sunny roadside cafe in Franschhoek's old town - just go with the flow and enjoy your free time in South Africa’s epicurean capital, with its multitude of eateries. You’ll have time to soak up the history of this town and learn more about the French Huguenots who arrived in the Seventeenth Century; browse the art galleries and arts & crafts shops for souvenirs along the main street and enjoy lunch at a deli or street corner cafe.
When arriving at the local winery's train platform, you'll disembark for a short walk and wander towards the farm's tasting room. The standard route usually stops at historic Rickety Bridge. Relax and enjoy an included Estate Wine Tasting; savouring 3 favourites with stunning valley views as backdrop. On days when the Franschhoek Wine Tram route heads towards the Simonsberg Mountains, the tram stops at picturesque Plaisir Wine Estate for the included tasting to sample a choice of 3 of their estate range wines.
Just north of Stellenbosch tucked in a picturesque corner of the Knorhoek Valley lies one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms, Muratie, dating back to 1685. Wine tasting in historic Muratie happens in ancient carved-out cement fermentation wine-making tanks. This is where the first Pinot Noir in South Africa was crafted, and the location where you'll experience the perfect tasting of sweet-toned port-style wines. End with a lazy drive back and a late afternoon drop-off at your Cape Town or Stellenbosch accommodation.

We had a wonderful day exploring the winelands with our tour guide Ulrich. Ulrich was really friendly, chatty and knowledgeable – we really enjoyed speaking to him and learning more about the Cape & SA on our journeys to and between tastings. All 3 tastings were really enjoyable and all take place in beautiful surroundings. Getting to go on the wine tram briefly was also a lot of fun. We enjoyed having a brief break at the farmers market which was a great spot to grab some lunch. The whole day was very enjoyable and very well organised – thank you Ulrich for a wonderful day!
My wife and I had a great day visiting the wine region on 10th Feb. Our private tour guide was TK. He was very knowledgeable and really easy to get along with. A big thanks to him.
Great day out, made very enjoyable by the group who were on this trip with us and our driver (Jacubis) who was very knowledgable and ensured we were all on time at various wine stops, including the Franschhoek Wine Tram. A really lovely day to remember.
I want to start of by saying that we have been beyond happy with any tour that we did with hotspots directly. This one in particular however was outstanding. Not only because the wine lands around Cape Town are just breathtaking but specifically because our tour guide Mr. Nev was not only an incredible tour guide but enriched our experience immensely by firstly being an amazing human to spend time with and also by him just being beyond accommodating and focusing on giving us the best experience ever! He went above and beyond throughout the entirety of the tour and even after - checking if everything went well during our tour the day after (which was not with hotspots directly). We have done many tours and have had many tour guides, but have to say that the ones at hotspot and especially Mr. Nev are outstanding. Additionally, his experience as a tour guide for many years and his immense knowledge about the area and the history of the region and his personal experiences that he so kindly shared with us made the tour even more special! If you get him, you can be assured that you will have the best experience ever since he goes way beyond what his scope as a guide is!
Great door to door service and a fabulous day. Our guide Urial gave us some great local info and took us to some breathtakingly beautiful places. We sampled 3 different wineries as well as a short train and tractor ride. Great value and well organised. Would recommend.
Our guide Urial was absolutely the best! He was so kind, helpful, informative and made our trip so much fun. We had many stops at great vineyards and beautiful scenery! Would highly recommend.
The whole day was amazing, our tour guide named Ulrich aka GG was the best, he told us everything about everything, he was professional and kind. Wine was nice as well as lunch spot and tram ride. Can recommend!
My wife, daughter and I took the 1 day Taste + Tram Winelands tour in September 2023. Enjoyed the wine tasting and all the information about the area our tour guide TK provided us.
Fairview and Muratie were excellent tastings. The wine tram and Rickety Bridge did not meet my expectations. We were dropped off at a market at Franchoek to get lunch!! Not much choice and no place to dit and eat. Would have preferred lunch at a winery restaurant which looked very nice.
Great journey in the wineyards. Stop in paarl and stellenbosch were fantastic places for tasting the wine
TK is an excellent guide, gentle, humble and lots of humor. He will share highly interesting & great fun facts of the surroundings. Definitely recommend for an exciting trip around Cape Town!!
A fantastic tour with pick up and drop off. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny and arranged a fun but relaxing day out. Thanks!
This was a fabulous experience and would highly recommend along with tour company hotspots2c. We had booked out the vehicle with friends and spent the day visiting fairview (wine and cheese), rickety bridge (wine), and mutatie (wine and chocolate). Gerhard, our wonderfully knowledgeable guide kept us entertained with interesting facts about the area. When we weren’t being driven by him, we were having a tipple on the wine tram or being hauled in to rickety bridge on a tractor trailer. So much fun. To note, reading previous reviews I can say that this tour has changed and the issues other posters had have been resolved. Nicely done hotspots2c!
This was a fantastic tour - we visited several wineries and had plenty of time for lunch in Stellenbosch. The driver was lovely and he was very happy to be flexible with what we wanted to do - we ended up staying longer at the last winery to share another bottle of wine between the group.
The winetasting was very great, i wasnt the biggest fan of the red‘s, but thats probably because i just like the white wines better. I got to learn a lot about all the areas and we had very nice conversations. I really enjoyed the trip with Guide Lizel. She was funny and answered all of our questions. Would definetly do it again.
This tour is outstanding. Our guide skillfully managed driving the van through some crowded and congested streets while providing interesting commentary about the multicultural community of Cape Town. She also was a marvelous resource for activities around Cape Town. The wineries included in the itinerary were well thought out. I particularly enjoyed the ice cream and wine pairing and wine paired with biltong. Don’t miss this excursion.
We have been to quite a few wineries and this tour stood out because of the ice cream tasting and the biltong pairing. In addition the wineries we visited had gardens and other products. If you have already toured wineries and seen the process, this is a fun way to mix it up a bit. Our guide Liesl was amazing. Sincerely enthusiastic about wine, the scenery and South Africa and unflappable in tricky traffic and other situations. The hotel pickup was really nice but be aware it takes a while so you will have a chance to look around Cape Town. If the pickup takes too much time you could likely book a private tour with the same driver guide and have a good experience, but the small group we has was actually pretty fun.
The tour itself was very good, the driver/ guide knowledgeable and the vehicle comfortable. We had three ( not four) tastings as they have modified it to allow over an hour for lunch (not really necessary). We had a tasting of wine followed by a wine and ice cream pairing and then a wine and bolting tasting. The real downside was being the first pickup we were in the vehicle over an hour collecting others from their hotels. It would be a better tour with a central meeting point.
Liezel was an excellent guide for the day - early to pick me up and then drop me off home after sampling 17 different wines. The ice-cream match was my favourite part. Tour was well paced (there is some free time) and organized. Thanks!
We really enjoyed every wine farm and the tastings that accompanied them as well as the driver of the mini van, however if you compare the quality of the wine farms and where they took us for lunch it’s unfortunately very disappointing.. As locals we were saddened that our fellow tourists are treated to a mugg&bean lunch., there are som many wine farms that offer a tasting & lunch for e.g that would’ve completed the wine tour experience- it is a beautiful region and why not show it off... We did pick up that some of the tourists who have either been to SA before or have been there for a while also noticed that being taken to a coffee shop for lunch was a bit cheeky.
This is an enjoyable and well organised wine tasting tour. If you’re looking to visit a few vineyards in the region and try some great wine this will do the trick nicely. Our guide was knowledgeable and worked hard to ensure everyone was well looked after. Lunch was at Mugg & Bean in Stellenbosch, which is a bit basic, and the table was pre-booked so there was no opportunity to look elsewhere. It’s not a problem if you just want a quick, cheap lunch but if you’re expecting the opportunity to eat at a nice restaurant at one of the vineyards you may be disappointed. The only thing lacking for me was an opportunity to tour the vineyard itself and learn a bit more about the wine making process. This tour is very much focused on the tasting of various wines. The wine was delicious however and it was very enjoyable to try tastings with ice cream and biltong. I would be happy to do the tour again or to recommend.
I highly recommend this tour. Liezel was our driver and was amazing. She was an excellent driver. Very knowledgeable about the area and vineyards we visited. She kept us on track throughout the day. Our favorite winery was the 1st stop which was the farm. We also did a wine & ice creme pairing which was a first for us all. I will definitely book with Liezel again when we return to the area.
Such a fantastic wine tour with the amazing Liezel! We loved our day out and enjoyed every minute! We learnt so many interesting facts! Thank you!
Fantastic tour from start to finish. Thank you Liezel for making this happen. I have used Hotspots2C before and I will be doing so again.
Had a very good tour, with beautiful sceneries at three very different wine estates. With Liezel as a guide the tour went from good to special. She added a lot of knowledge, history and positively made all of us welcome and part of a customised trip.
We visited 4 vineyards/farms/wineries on the tour. The van/bus was comfortable and it was just myself, my wife and another couple on their honeymoon. There were also 2 guides-in-training. All the vineyards were great in different ways including Babylonstoren with it's farm/garden layout and free-roaming chickens, turkeys and roosters. One of the vineyards also did an amazing wine-ice cream pairing which was delicious and filling. Overall a great experience and our guide, Gerhard (?spelling) even brought back my wife's sweater to our hotel that she had left behind. Lastly, since my wife and I and the other couple were both on our honeymoons he bought us each a bottle of sparkling wine as a gift. Highly recommended!
Had a wonderful day with Liezel who took us a lovely tour of the winelands. She made it customised for kids including visiting the Alpacas, duck feeding and grape juice tasting for them. Can not recommend Liezel enough.
We had an amazing family time. I was a bit worried the girls could get bored, but from the start they started their own joy, from feeding alpacas 🦙 and playing with them, to goats 🐐...They also had their own apple and grape juice tastings and so they were sharing the same tables with us. To make things more fun, they also had chocolate tastings. On the other hand, the wine estates we visited were simply awesome. Fairview has a special place in my heart already especially with the friendliness of the staff there. Simply loved it. And the girls also fell in love with, Lezile, our guide.... Thank you... Sherif
We spent the day touring the winelands of the Cape with Liezel. She was a knowleagable and personable.guide who also gave us some fascinating insights into the realities of life in today's South Africa. We were ushered through the pristine vineyards of the Franzchoek area to wineries which have been producing wines since the 1600's. The scenery is truly breathtaking as are the wineries. Liezel was flexible with the scheduling which allowed us to enjoy a gourmet lunch at La Petite Colombe. Needless to say, dinner was not necessary that evening. Another magnificent day in Africa.
Excellent guide -Liezel- knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating & friendly - beautiful countryside & elegant wineries
Fantastic guide. Safe driver, very knowledgeable and great fun. Would thoroughly recommend For a great day out
A great day out. Leizel was a fantastic guide ... Very knowledgeable and professional. Loved the choice of wineries and the scenery was spectacular!
Our guide, Liezel De Klerk, was absolutely amazing. She took us around, explained everything, answered all our questions with a smile and generally made the day perfect!
Hotspots2c went the extra mile to do a pick-up & drop-off service from Simon's Town ... tour was excellent in all ways, our small group of 6 was a perfect match, thank you !
Wine Tour was well organized, pick-up was punctual with great tasting wine venues that our group had visited.
Being the driver on family holidays, it was a real treat to be able to join an organised tour and not have to worry about how much wine I was consuming. Having been to the wine lands many times, this tour took me to wine farms I had not visited before, and also paired wines with foods in a way I had not tried before. I enjoyed the new experiences. The guide was fantastic, knowledgable and very engaging.
From the moment that Andrew (my driver-guide) picked me up at the hotel until he dropped me back again it was fabulous. He took the time to get to know me and my tastes in. wine and customised the experience to what would make it a wonderful experience for me. We visited some sensational wineries and tasted some first class wines accompanied often by some excellent local foods. Andrew was a delightful companion and shared great insights about the wines, the region and the history. All in all I can't fault the experience for a moment - it was a first class day and one of the highlights of my trip.
Went on the Cape winelands tour with the wonderful Liezel yesterday, we visited some fantastic wineries and saw some beautiful scenery, even if the weather didn't exactly cooperate (although missing the sun and heat does make the copious drinking that much easier for those who, like me, don't make use of the spittoon!). Liezel was absolutely fantastic, very friendly, very knowledgeable, and always smiling. We were also lucky enough to have a really nice group on our tour, which makes conversation that much easier while you're enjoying the wines. Although I love biltong, my wife and I both agreed that the ice cream paired with wines were the best! Keep up the great work.
We did two tours with this company and absolutely loved it! Andrew our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We liked him so much that we requested to have him for our following tour. We also appreciated working with Benita who helped us customize the perfect trip for us months in advance. Thank you! We will certainly be back.
We had a group of 7 and an awesome tour guide, Andrew Jackson. We spent the day traveling around the cape visiting different types of wineries. We started with a Dutch organic farm that is still in operation. They produce fresh meats, cheeses, soaps, candles and of course wines. We were able to tour the property, vineyards and pet the animals. Another interesting stop was the ice cream/wine paring. I have never eaten grilled onion ice cream and then paired with a white wine. Interesting. Another interesting (and our final stop) was at the famous golfer Ernie Els winery. His wines were excellent. We sat outside admiring the vineyards and the lush rolling hillside as we spent time trying to "chip" into a hole at the bottom of the hill. Chipping irons and golf balls were provided for our fun and entertainment. Last winery stop, great guide, fun people on the tour and lots of laughter. No one made the hole in one for a free bottle of EE wine.
If you don't drink wine still go on the tour. If like us you visited 4 different wine farms, samples various similar wines, which due to the grape, soil and the wine master can have different tastes, amazing. Biltong try it with wine great and wine and ice cream a knock out. Would recommended this tour along with Gerard the guide from Hotspots2c. Great gut very knowledgeable and loves his Beef Biltong. Please tip these guys they work long hours, so many people I have met on my tours do not which is a pity.
Our guide GG was fantastic he changed the schedule for us as we preferred white wine to red and also wine that is a bit sweeter. He recommended a really great place to eat at lunchtime and gave us the right amount of time to do this. The vineyards that we visited were great and I really enjoyed the wine tasting with chocolate and the wine tasting with ice cream. Great all day experience
Picked up on time, the group of people I joined were fun along with out guide Thenis. He also gave us plenty of information about the area's we went to. A great day out with lots of wine tasting . very informative people doing the talks in each Vine yard. Highly recommend if you enjoy good wine
I would say that this was the best experience while we were staying Cape Town. The lady (her name “Liezel, sorry for wrong spell if I made a mistake) was amazing ! She knew what we wanted and made us feel so comfortable. I was with my friends from overseas and they loved so much as well. Such beautiful scenery and enjoyed every single wine farm we went ! I definitely come back for this trip !

We had a wonderful day seeing a part of the cape that we would not have if not for this tour. Our guide, Andrew, was excellent. Our pickup at the hotel was right on time. Andrew did everything throughout the day to make sure that we were comfortable. Our first stop was at a Dutch wine farm where we were able to wander around the lavender fields, see the farm animals and how the farm operates.
Our stop for lunch was great food which ended with an unusual paring of ice cream and wine. Our final stop of the day may have been a favorite, Ernie Els Winery. We enjoyed relaxing on the patio where there was a chipping green set up. All of us had multiple attempts of making the hole with one shot. It was a fun way to end the day.

We had a super day collected from our accommodation door to 4 wine farms finishing at Ernie Els vineyard. Our tour guide and driver Andrew was full of knowledge and was a great host! We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend for a great day out. Extra special lunch in fat butcher Thanks very much Andrew, Hotspots2c and the great craic from our travelling companions from USA and Germany! Gary Claire Lynda and Daphne 31.05.2018
This is as truly an amazing day wine tasting and seeing stellenbosh . Andrew our tour guide arrived promptly and seeing we were the only two people on the trip showed us an amazing time . We ended up seeing four amazing vine yards and had tasting sessions at all of them . All our tasting sessions were paird with a type of food. I think my best one was wine and ice cream . It worked !!!! The views in Stelllbosh are out of this world and it was so beautiful . I will definately be visiting again and using this same company . Turly a great day out and worth the money .

All the establishments we visited were brilliant ,the group of people on the tour all gelled, and our guide JP was super. All in all a well organised tour ,well worth the money.

We enjoyed a wonderful day with tour guide Andrew. Stellenbosch is absolutely beautiful. We visited: Delaire Graff Muratie Cannonkop All were very fun and great value. We finished the trip with a visit to the Saturday market in Franchhoek. Highly recommend HS2C!
