We had a lovely tour with Josie. She gave us an enthusiastic trip around Cape Town, explaining its history as we walked around some parts of the city Unfortunately, the cable car to Table Top mountain peak wasn't operational that day and we got the refund for those tickets, but we got a good feel of the city and its history.

Itinerary
Table Mountain is a new addition to the 7 world wonders of nature and is a must visit when you are in Cape town. A cable car with a rotating floor runs horizontally from the lower cable station to the upper cable station where you will have vast areas to roam while enjoying the 360 degrees view of the entire Cape town area. Table Mountain also harnesses her own unique and rare flora which is called Table Mountain sandstone fynbos and is a part of the world's richest floral kingdom. Your guide will escort you on the circular Table Mountain trail pointing out and explaining all the important landmarks, fauna and flora to you. DISCLAIMER: The Table Mountain aerial cableway is open subject to conducive weather conditions. In the event that the Cableway operations are suspended due to unfavorable weather, the tour will carry on to the next item on the itinerary and you have a choice to either, keep the tickets for another day or request a refund for the tickets.
Bo-kaap is a residential area found in the heart of the Cape town city center, starting from Buitengracht street and creeping up the Signal hill, Southwest of the city. Stone cobbled streets runs steeply towards the mountains along rows of the famous colorful Cape Dutch style buildings while several mosques dominates the skyline in a fashion never seen anywhere else in the country. The majority of the residence here are direct descendants to the far easterners and Southwest Africans that were hurled from their native lands to slave at the Cape. Their unique culture, cuisine and religion creates one of the brightest elements to South Africa's famous rainbow nation and a walk into one of the traditional shops found here gives one a good introduction to the uniqueness of the Bo-kaap. Your guide will give you a short walking tour covering important landmarks, i.e Bokaap Museum, The first Mosque and the Tana Baru shrine.
Adderly street has for many years, been and still is Cape town's most decorated street. A stroll into Adderly street will have one quickly noticing the amount of attention Adderly street has received more than any other street in Cape town city either through masonry, landscaping or work of sculptures. The dual carriage way slices through the city in a straight line and with a series of large traffic circles at 100-meter intervals. Life size bronze sculptures of some of Cape town's most historic figures stands tall within these rounds abouts and half-way the street, a fountain squirts into the air as the planted palm and fever trees dances to the tune of the Southeastern winds of the cape. A canal also runs parallel to the street and the footpath in between the dual carriageways. Your guide will walk you on this path while he unpacks all the fascinating facts and stories about the beautiful Adderly street before proceeding to the Castle of Good Hope by car.
The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest standing colonial building in South Africa and spans over 350 years of history. The castle was built in a 5-pointed star shape by the Dutch in 1666 and has over the years, simultaneously served as a place of residence during the earliest days of the Cape colony, a church, prison, the headquarters of the South African army in the Western Cape and currently, a military museum. A tour of the Castle of Good Hope will give you a better understanding about the development of Cape Town as a halfway station between Europe and India. Your guide will walk with you answering all your questions and should you be interested in art; you might want to return in your own time to witness the William Fehr collection exhibited in the governor's quarters. NOTICE: The guide will walk you around the castle. However, due to time constraints, we will not have time to go inside on this tour.
From the Castle of Good Hope, your tour will continue on foot across the grand parade and past the old City Hall to Church Square where historical buildings such as the oldest church in the country, the Sir Herbert Baker designed mutual heights of Australasia building, and the former Union Chapel of London surrounds the square. The life size bronze sculpture of Jan Hofmeyer also adds flair to the square as it stands, sternly in middle of the square. Our Jan, as he is known among the Afrikaner culture, is revered as one of the activists who lobbied for the formalization of the Afrikaans language in South Africa. Also found at Church Square are 11 concrete blocks depicting names of Slaves brought to Cape Town by the Dutch from the Far East. Your guide will explain more in depth about all buildings and monuments found here including the site of the former slave tree where new slaves were auctioned to their future masters.
District six museum is situated on “Buitenkant” street, the same street that determined the boundary between a white and nonwhite settlement during the earliest years of constitutionalized apartheid. The museum captures in great detail, all the historical artifacts pertaining to the forced removals in what was a vibrant multiracial community before the passing of the 1950 group areas act that allowed for a development of racially segregated living spaces in apartheid South Africa. After your tour of District Six museum, your tour will continue by car driving by the parliament of South Africa before stopping at the Company's garden for another walking tour of a beautiful and historic garden in the middle of the city.
The historical company's garden is a leafy garden in the middle of the city center. The garden is a very nice place to walk around observing the reconstructed gardens to resemble a typical Dutch East India Company garden at the Cape over 200 years ago. Historical monuments are scattered all over the garden giving visitors a beautiful glance back into the past as well as great photo taking opportunities. Your guide will point out all important landmarks that can be seen from here while you enjoy your stroll through the garden. After the tour of the garden, you will continue with your tour guide to the bustling and historic Saint George's mall starting from the Saint George's Cathedral.
Saint Georges mall is a popular paved pathway running North to South from Riebeek street to the historic Saint Georges Cathedral at the base of the old Cape town city precinct. Cafes, coffee shops, and Street vendors trading in handmade crafts and scented foods draws a lot of Cape town's foot traffic that sustains the pulse to one of Cape town city's favorite pathways. Attentively designed Art deco and Cape revival style buildings of the mid 1800s to the early 1900s gives this street a feel never seen anywhere in the inner city. Historical monuments such as the Bishop Robert Grey monument and a piece of the Bellin wall slows down foot traffic as tourist stops to observe and go through the short transcripts to quench their thirst for historical facts. Since you will not be walking alone like others, your tour guide will give you more information missing from some of the short summaries on the monuments including facts about religion, culture and architecture at this part of Cape town.
At the top of Bo-kaap and just below the summit of the Signal Hill rests Lion Battery, a fort constructed by pick and shovel in the late 1800s under a fear that the Russian expansion in Afghanistan might have led to a Russian domination of the Indian Ocean and subsequently all the British interest along its coast. The fort was completed in 1890. Besides having been prepared to function as vantage and firing point through the years, the Lion Battery has also been used as a clock and communication signal by the firing of a gun. Today, every day at 12 noon, a loud bang from the Signal Hill bellows across the entire city of Cape Town in observance of one of Cape Town's unique traditions. The Lion Battery has also been open to the public since 1998, however, it remains closed today since Covid-19. Your guide will set a timer so that a few seconds before 12, you stop and listen to the old and famous Cape clock.
The boisterous Green market square boasts of drummers, buskers, and vendors trading in a variety of handmade local crafts that have since replaced the fruits and vegetables once traded here during the days of the Cape colony. The stone cobbled square is surrounding by several fascinating Gothic and Baroque style buildings giving one a clear imagination of what the late 19th century Cape Town city might have looked like before adopting its current commercial facade. On the 1st of December 1834, the abolishment of slavery at the Cape was announced from the balcony of the Old Town House and hymns at the Gothic revival Methodist cathedral opposite to it turned into weeping as the congregation broke down and cried. Up to this day, The Methodist cathedral remains a mouthpiece to the systematically marginalized communities of Cape Town. Your guide will also give you time to indulge in the local foods and souvenirs found here before your tour comes to an end.

We had the most wonderful half day experience with Josie. Despite Table Mountain being closed several days prior due to winds, Josie managed to squeeze us in during a brief window when the tram opened up. She then took us to the District 6 Museum which is a must see for anyone visiting Cape Town who care about the legacy of Apartheid. We highly recommend the tour and ask for Josie.
Peter was an amazing guide and this experience is worth paying a bit more for than a group tour. He shared so much information with us about South Africa and patiently answered our many questions. He is the kind of guide you always hope to get, but rarely do. We went all over town and it was a great use of our limited time. Ten stars!
Kelvin, our tour guide, was excellent. He was on time, courteous & very knowledgeable. He was able to vary the tour to suit our needs. Table Mountain was our major highlight. Highly recommend.
It was a fantastic tour! Our guide Kelvin was truly incredible! He was so accommodating, personable and made sure we not only saw as much of Cape Town as possible, but got a comprehensive history of this incredible city and country. He made the history so relevant to today's society and made it very real!!! And table mountain was incredible, inspite of a not so perfect weather day. Kelvin caught just the right moment later in the day when the rain stopped and the fog lifted for a bit, and took us to the mountain! Incredible experience!!!!
The guide was so kind and helpful. He picked us up from the hotel and took us to Table Mountain. The view up there was incredible! We spent around 2 hours there. He waited for us and then drove us to Bo-Kaap while giving information about the area. We were a bit delayed according to the schedule but he was still kind and didn’t rush us. Thank you!
Awesome tour. John is excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. We should've tipped more but not familiar with currency yet. HIGHLY Recommend this tour with skip the line entry. Thankyou for a wonderful experience ✨️
Kevin, our guide, turned up on time in a very comfortable car and from that moment we had a brilliant day! Kevin was very knowledgeable about not just the Cape Town area but the history of it too. He enquired about what pace we wanted to go at, and he was very considerate. A big Recommendation for this tour.
Highlight was getting on top of Table Mountain in the clear sunshine. Great views of Cape Town but depending on mist and wind to allow cable car to operate
Josie was great. Very prompt and professional. She made learning about Cape Town fin and interesting. We saw everything we wanted to see on our program. Very accommodating. Highly recommend this program for and exposure the the area and it’s history.
We had Josie as our guide in October and she was wonderful! Josie is so knowledgeable which really added to our experience. Table Mountain was stunning as were all the other places we visited - highly recommend- Tracy and Russell Australia
We booked a private half day tour on the final port stop of our voyager of the seas repositioning tour in Cape Town, we completely lucked out with this company and our tour guide Jossie/Xochitile. She met us at the ship at 8am and from the first moment we met her we could feel the energy she has for her country. Explaining everything from geographic information about Cape Town, her population and the mix of cultures that make modern Cape Town. From there we went to see signal mountain and then to the cable car for our fast track tickets up to table mountain. Jossie was always there making sure we got the best pictures and helping us every step of the way. From the top of table mountain we discussed some of the history of this lovely city and surrounding area. From there we moved downtown to find out a bit about the darker side of history in Cape Town, from the arrival of European settlers to apartheid, it was a engaging discussion and brought home by a visit to the history museum where we learnt about the real story of apartheid from the people who lived it. We also visited a couple of parks that were nice strolls. Then back to the ship by 12:30. This tour was about the same price as the ship coach tour so if you’re coming to Cape Town get booking, on a ship or hotel, it doesn’t matter and you won’t be disappointed!
Danson was an incredible tour guide. He had so much knowledge and knew exactly where to take our pictures along the way. Definitely get the skip the line pass or you will be waiting for hours.
Table mountain was the clear highlight. Operator was well organised, and provided a comfortable vehicle. Guide was knowledgeable, and helpful.
A very comfortable way to see the highlights of the city. Private car and guide/driver. Our guide, Kelvin, was very knowledgeable and explained the tour with ease and conviction. He adapted the tour to our needs, as my husband cannot walk too far. He was smiling and gracious. We would have gladly toured all South Africa with his knowledge. We got the fast track to get up to table mountain, it was worth the extra cost.

My husband and I enjoyed going to Table Mountain and getting an overview of Cape Town. Our guide was very knowledgable and we really learned a lot. The views from Table Mountain were wonderful!
It was our first time in Cape Town and I am so glad we chose this half day tour. We got to visit some really cool places. We had Kevin as our guide and he was honestly phenomenal. He had a great attitude, was super friendly and knows so much about the history of Cape Town. The car we used was also in prestige condition and was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this experience!
We had a fantastic experience with Peter, visiting Table Mountain and places in Cape Town. We were lucky enough to be the only people on the tour and were able to have really interesting conversations with him about the situation in SA pre/post apartheid. He was just as knowledgeable about the plants and geology of Table Mountain as well as the history of the area, and the day flew by. I’d definitely recommend him.
Joseph was excellent. He explained the city, culture and social aspects of Capetown, and South Africa. He was knowledgeable and had great insights. The tour was perfect in every way. I would recommend it to everyone.
Danny was very polite and friendly with great knowledge, making it a very enjoyable and funny day. He was happy to rearrange the itinerary to increase our chances of views from Table mountain.
The views were amazing the experience was one to tell but mostly Jean the guide was warm, friendly with good energy he made the experience epic
Our guide, Joseph Tambwe, is a knowledgeable, affable young man. He shared so much information with us and it felt like we were chatting with a long time friend. We did not get to go into the District 6 museum as we toured on Sunday. Joseph’s knowledge of history made up for that!
Danson our guide was amazing. He also knows everybody! We hit the Cape Town highlights and he kept an eye on the weather so we could go up table mountain. He was personable and clever and funny. Ask for Danson and do this tour.
Wow what an amazing day we had with Rodney he was just the best guide ever…. And we’ve done lots of tours in our many years of travel! We laughed and learnt so much about Cape Town…. Rodney was a truly exceptional fun fun fun guide!
Covered a lot about the city including iconic Table Mountain. Our guide Kevin gave a thorough but succinct historical perspective so we could understand better the sites. Overall a great experience.
Our guide, Rodney, was very knowledgable. and had a great sense of humor. Unfortunately it poured all morning . Rodney wanted to show us all the sights on the tour but also wanted to make sure we wanted to walk in the rain to see them. We chose not to walk when it was pouring but did get out to take photos when it made sense. Although we did drive up to the cable car for views, the clouds prevented views and there was no sense in going up the mountain. SO had it not rained the rating would have been better.
Great trip to see all the highlights and our guide Danny was fabulous. He took time to explain sights and history at the pace we enjoyed.
Rodney, our tour guide made an enormous difference from his experience, knowledge, background, patience and kindness. We saw and learned so many things about Cape Town that we were totally unaware of. We had just a taste of what Cape Town has to offer. We will be back in 2026 and take a longer tour then. Highly recommended tour and ask for Rodney.
Had a fabulous tour with Danson. He was super friendly knowledgeable and accommodating. He took his time to explain and do things we wanted and on top of that a great photographer. When you visit Cape Town book this tour! Danny made our day so memorable!
Our visit to Table Mountain was truly unforgettable. The views were stunning — we snapped countless photos, and every angle was picture-perfect. Having a guide really enhanced the experience. They were informative, engaging, and gave us great insights into the mountain’s natural and cultural significance. The trip was well-organized and felt very safe throughout. The cable car ride was smooth and offered amazing views as it rotated. Once at the top, the walking trails were easy to navigate, and the facilities were clean and accessible. Everything was well worth the cost. With the help of our guide, we were able to enjoy every moment and learn so much. We’d highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cape Town! This city highlights half-day tour was the perfect way to experience the essence of the city in a short amount of time. From start to finish, everything was smooth and well-coordinated. Our guide arrived promptly and made us feel welcome right away. The vehicle was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned, which made the journey between stops very pleasant. The tour covered a well-curated mix of landmarks and neighborhoods — from iconic spots to lesser-known areas that showed a more authentic side of the city. At each stop, we had enough time to explore, take photos, and ask questions. It was a great balance between guided insight and personal discovery. Even though it was only a few hours, we left with a deep appreciation for the city’s history, architecture, and people. It never felt rushed, and the pace was just right for soaking in the experience without feeling exhausted.
Our guide Danny was very knowledgeable about the history of South Africa and very patient with all our questions. He was very personable, responsive to our needs and we didn’t feel rushed at all. He was an excellent ambassador for South Africa and it was evident in his comments of his pride in his city and country. A good and kind soul whose tour I would highly recommend. He made our second day in Cape Town very memorable.
This was a fantastic tour that gave us a good overview of Capetown. Joseph is a wonderful tour guide...very professional and knowledgeable.
We had a great tour. Our car was new and very clean. The guide, Xochitle, was out of the ordinary: educated, good and safe driver, gave a lot of information and very kind to our friend group. Recomend you choose this tour and her as a guide.
We had a wonderful time with our tour guide, Danson! He is extremely knowledgeable of the history of Cape Town! He gave us an amazing background story on the penguins before we saw them which allowed us to really see them in their element. He took us on an amazing ride back to our hotel and allowed us to see the beautiful beaches and other cities. I HIGHLY recommend a private tour! Well worth the money!
The entire tour was exceptional. We went to Table Mountain before the crowds, toured the city, including Bo-Kap, Company Gardens and a truly impressive guided tour at District Six museum. Danson (Danny) went out of his way to walk us around the city and get us comfortable with our surroundings. His knowledge of the city and its history and nature were excellent. He helped us get great photos throughout the day and even dropped us at a place he recommended for a late lunch that was terrific. Highly recommend this tour.
Josie showed us the sights of Cape Town city and provided us with so much history/information! It was nice having a private car to customize and make it easy to get around a busy city. Table mountain funicular is a must do too.. PAT TO SKIP THE LINE!! YOLO!
On Dec 7, 2024, 14 of us spend half day visiting Cape Town before our embarking on our cruise ship vacation. Peter was our guide. Junior from Cape Archives Tour office communicated with our group leader, Wendy, endlessly to streamline our pickup and drop off arrangements. 14 people with 14+ number of luggage was not an easy group to handle. Cape Archives had to arrange a separate truck to transport our luggages to the cruise terminal, all streamlined without wasting time. Peter began the tour with an informative description of Cape Town history, then and now, we then visited iconic places like table mountain national park (ticket including) with its breathtaking scenery of Cape Town below, colourful houses in Bo-Kaap, city Center panoramic tour and the beautiful beaches at Clifton. Peter returned us to the cruise terminal on time for us to continue our vacation in South Africa. As our time is limited, there are sites we didn’t get to visit on this trip. Would use this tour company again on future visits.
The city tour by private guided is excellent. We give thumb up to Rodney, our guide because he's very informative & attentive. Very new & clean mini van. Even through the cable car at table mountain was canceled due to bad weather but we got our tickets to experience the next day.
Our guide was excellent - knowledgeable, friendly and responsive to our needs. The afternoon tour was a wonderful introduction to the city
Our driver and guide Kelvin was absolutely fantastic- he looked after us well - he is first class. The tour itself was great and of course it happened to be a very sunny and clear day, so we had some wonderful views of CapeTown from the top of the mountain.
Took the fast track cable car so there is less waiting time and we were up Table Mountain in 15 minutes upon arrival. Perfect weather that day so we had breathtaking views of Cape Town. Also had a great time viewing the unique plant species on top of the mountain. The city tour was well-paced and our guide, Peter, was very knowledgeable about the city's history and culture. We covered most of the major attractions in one day. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and hope to come back to visit with family.
Our guide Kelvin was very knowledgeable and kind, tailoring our itinerary to what we were most interested in and taking some lovely photos. It’s an experience we will really treasure and can’t recommend it enough if you want to be spoiled with information and treated like a VIP 😍💯 We really connected with Kelvin beyond cultures and borders and this authentic SA experience will be one to remember. Thanks Kelvin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonderful day trip - highly recommend! It was amazing to see so much of Cape Town in this tour. Our guide, Peter, was welcoming and knowledgeble!
We had Kelvin who was a great tour guide and incredibly informative and knowledgeable, had such a lovely day, would highly recommend
Fabulous trip with Danson. He was funny, knowledgeable and well organized. Wonderful time. Would highly recommend.
Our guide, Kevin, was very accommodating with our 6 person family group with ages ranging from 7 to 77. We appreciated his willingness to adjust our itinerary on the fly.
Peter shared not only the history of South Africa but the culture and unique floral kingdom found here. He tailored his tour to our interests. We highly recommend him and this tour group!
This was a great tour. We only had one free day in Cape Town so this was a really good way to get a sense of this remarkable city. Booking was very easy and communication from the tour operator was excellent. Our guide Kelvin was punctual, friendly and very informative. Table Mountain was covered in cloud at the beginning of the tour so he carefully kept an eye on the weather and rearranged the tour to get us up there as soon as the clouds began to clear. Thank you Kelvin, we had a great day!
We had a great time and saw everything we were hoping to see. Joseph was relaxed and very knowledgable. He was happy to accomodate our tewks to the itinerary and made our tour lots of fun an interesting.
