We had an exceptional time on the wine tour. Everything was arranged well. Jim was very knowledgeable about the wine and the region.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, while exploring wine makers in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek! 😎 We appreciated to be able to speak Swedish, as part of the group is not fluent in English. Jim was a excellent guide through the wine tastings, while driving around and we had a remarkable lunch. Enjoy and relax! We sincerely recommend a day with African Invite with wine tasting! 😍
My husband and I booked a private wine tour with Jim for April 7th 2024 (He was recommended to us by a friend who also had a great experience with Jim). Little did we know that it would be the day a big storm blew through the Cape Winelands with a level 9 warning. While we did not get to the planned vineyards, as many were closed due to fallen trees, we certainly enjoyed tasting multiple wines at Lievland, Bartinney, and Avondale Vineyards as well as a delightful lunch at the Faber restaurant at Avondale and a tour of their cellars. Jim was an amazing guide taking great care of us, driving safely, and sharing lots of great information about the area and about the wines we were tasting. He worked hard to find out which vineyards would be open and to ensure we had bookings to replace the ones that were closed - he is someone who can think on his feet and flex with the situation. We had a very enjoyable day, and I would highly recommend Jim for a private wine tour.
Jim was an excellent guide and arranger for a terrific wine tour. Jim is quite knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, including of course wine - wine in general and within the region. I very much appreciated his insights and our day together. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful day! We visited 3 estates that were completely different in style, which made it all the more interesting. We discovered the most beautiful place for lunch. Jim is the best guide you can imagine! He is so knowledgeable and passionate about wine and truly knows everyting about the culture and history of RSA. He is genuinely a very pleasant person to be with. I would not hesitate for a second to book another tour with Jim when we visit South Africa next time.
Jim was incredibly knowledgeable. 1 day with Jim is worth many years of studying wine! We had excellent SA wines and MCC. We are already planning a return trip with Jim in mind.
Jim was a terrific guide. He is very knowledgeable about several topics, and is patient and accommodating. The tour included stops at three wineries with 18 samplings. We also learned a lot about the history and the prople of the areas we navigated. Highly recommended.
Jim was amazing. He took us to three wine estates and was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the wines. At one of the estates he was educating an employee on the wine making process! Jim also knows so much about South Africa and the history. As we were driving from place to place he would tell us what things were, what the culture and history were etc. I highly recommend this tour and Jim.
Super enjoyable long weekend with close friends in the Swartland. Jim is a really competent, humorous and knowledgeable guide. Great food and even better wine. Visits to eclectic "off the beaten track" wineries, chats with passionate wine makers and olive tasting in the Riebeck Kasteel valley. A truly amazing time.
Exploring The Swartland with Jim was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Interesting local stories, fascinating winemakers, exceptional wines, just to name a few of the things we did. Thanks so much - we’ll be back for sure!
Jim was absolutely fantastic and taught us so much about both wine and the local area during our tour. He was personable, knowledgeable, and pleasant during the entire day. We had a much better understanding of winemaking and our preferences after the day. I cannot recommend Jim any more highly.
We did a wine tour with Jim and it was fantastic. He took us to excellent wineries and explained everything about the wines. Besides that, he has a super comfortable car and he is very patient. His english is easy to understand. We highly recommend it.
Brilliant, Jim is a very capable guide. The four estates visited were excellent, outstanding wines and superb commentary from the estate staff and Jim. Recommended without hesitation
Jim was an excellent giude. He gave us a history of the wine area and picked several excellent wineries to visit. The winery he picked for lunch had some of the best food we had in South Africa.
We booked a full day tour with Jim and it was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday! Jim drive's the comfortable car himself and on the way he explains a lot about Stellenbosch and the flora and fauna around. The wineries he chose were excellent, so was the restaurant for our lunch! Jim has an extensive knowledge of wine, that he shared with us, while we tasted the different wines. All in all a perfect day :-) Thanks again, Jim!
We had a great day of winetasting with Jim in Stellenbosch. Really good! He selected the 5 places to visit, aswell as the wines to taste. And they were al great! Jim knows a lot about wine and helps you with his knowledge and tips to really taste the different wines. The places he took us were also very beautiful estates with their own different story and strategy. On the way he tells about SA history, Stellenbosch, birds and plants. Well I could go on but I won’t. Just spend a little bit more money than the touristy grouptours and go with Jim. You won’t regret it😀
5 Norwegian friends went to Stellenbosch and were very happy with our guide Jim. His knowledge of wine, the country of SA, and lots of other things were impressive and added much joy to our trip. Highly recommend him!
Jim Hunneyball is a winemaker and know wine. He is also a historian and tell you all about South Africa and answer your questions about the country. Spending a full day with Jim is an experience you’ll never forget. Thanks, Jim!
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed our "Bubbles and Reds" wine tasting tour. By the second tasting, you REALLY start to have fun with the alcohol kicking in 😉Jim keeps the groups small and intimate to allow for a less commercial experience while wine tasting. He was not only knowledgeable about the different grapes, varietals, and wineries, but also the history of Cape Town. Good, bad and ugly of it. I would absolutely recommend Jim and African Invite!
Fantastic tour guide (Jim), made the day a very worthwhile! He drove 4 of us in his quite deluxe van to beautiful Stellenbosch vinyards and we had a nice lunch. He is a quite knowledgeable local fellow with good sense of humor and you can tell he loves being w people and his demeanor and English is perfect! You will love his tour!
Jim is an exilent guide. He took us to 5 different wineyards and spoke about wine and the history of South Africa. He is the best wine tasting guide ever.
An exquisite and wonderful full day wine tour! Our guide Jim took care of us in a excellent, knowledgeable, friendly and very inspiring way! A very well invested day!
We did the potpourri tasting tour. It was great, we tasted 23 wines at 5 estates and each with its own particular wine making style. Jim explained really well about the wine making processes and had lots of stories about the various places we visited. He even managed to get us into the cellar at an estate where he talked us through the wine making process. We will do another of his tours when we are next in Stellenbosch!
We've had two great days with Jim. One in Stellenbosch with wine tasting and one on Cape of Good Hope and Cape Peninsula. Jim is fluent in Swedish, knowledgeable and interesting for both adults and children. Jim could answer all our questions. We highly recommend Jim and could not have had it better. Thank you Jim!
Before our trip to Stellenbosch, we had booked three guided tours to the Cape of Good Hope a full day tour with wine tasting and a tour to see great white sharks and penguins. We didn 't have to worry Jim was amazing , you spend a whole day with one person , and sometimes the knowledge can be there , but you might not click with that person . With Jim it was so amazing because he is outstanding at what he guides so knowledgeable !!! But what makes that little extra is that you feel so good in his company !! On all the tours we did from nature to wine we were so happy !!! Recommend guiding with Jim if you want that little extra !! Ps Jim if you read this it was not Hilma who wrote this we a little worse on social media also managed this! So much we wanted to recommend you we had a great time in your company!!
We had a day in Stellenbosch without any planned activity, when I by chance saw a brochure at our accommodation, Hunneyball House, that the owner Jim also made guided excursions with wine tasting. I took a chance despite short notice and luckily Jim had time for us. It was a wonderful day in the wine. 3 different wineries were visited, each with different wines and flavors. Best in my opinion was Waterford Wine Estate, where they also combined wine tasting with chocolate. Thank you Jim once again!
We had a great day together with Jim at different vineyards in Stellenbosch. A very interesting day with a lot of information about both wine and how it is made and its history in South Africa as Stellenbosch as a city and the history of the vineyards. Jim is really knowledgeable and very nice and interesting to listen to. Wine tastings were varied with visits to different vineyards with different orientations. We also had lunch at a vineyard. Very tasty and nice place. Full marks!
We had a fantastic day with wine tastings in Stellenbosch's beautiful landscape. Beautiful vineyards and many good wines to taste. With Jim as a guide, we not only learned a lot about South Africa’s wine culture, but we also got to learn about the landscape, the places and above all South Africa’s history and society. The tour was very relaxed and comfortable. Jim is incredibly knowledgeable and good at telling and it was just for us to sit back and ride along. Thank you Jim for a great day and for the tip to read Hans Rosling's biography to better understand societal development in South Africa after apartheid and in neighboring countries. We will gladly do this again when we get back! /Hanna and Simon, Stockholm
We had a lovely Christmas Eve at some vineyards around Stellenbosch. Jim is a fantastic guide with great knowledge of both wine and South African society. Highly recommended!
A fantastic wine tasting tour in Stellenbosch. Jim was a brilliant host/guide who dedicatedly and knowledgeably told us everything of importance about winemaking, the city, history and even some ornithology. I can really recommend a tour. Extra good to be guided in Swedish by a South African.
Jim took us around 3 vineyards, Rustenberg, Dornier (where lunch was also taken) and Joostenberg (eco-wine). A very interesting tour that was not just about wine. We also learned a lot about Cape Wineland’s history and a lot about animals and nature as well. Jim is very knowledgeable and keeps a good pace, without going too fast. Can really be recommended!
A nice day together with Jim, who took us around Paarl, Franschook and Stellenbosch. Jim offered not only his wine knowledge but also history, culture and nature.
