Shark Explorers

Booked on last minute after some confusion over timings with another operator. Very glad to have gone with Shark Explorers. Easy and on time meeting at the shop where we were introduced to the staff and talked through the day. Then a short walk to the boat where we met the rest of the crew and boarded. About a 25 boat journey out to false bay where we then kitted up and carried out a 20 minute cage dive encountering around 20 bronze whalers who were very active and interacting with the cage. Also joined by Dennis the seal who was attempting to steal the bait! Snacks and drinks provided through out the morning before heading back to land. Would highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting the area!

An absolute amazing experience! The directions for the meet-up prior to departure were clear and easy to follow. Upon arriving to the meet-up point, the staff was welcoming and so kind and friendly. We were offered coffee and the staff was very eager and enthusiastic to talk about some of the research they have done with wildlife in the ocean before we departed. The staff we had on the boat itself were all amazing. They were energetic, passionate and kind. They all were the main reason we had such a positive experience. Thanks to them, we saw 15(!!!) different sharks during our cage dive session that allowed for once in a lifetime photo and video opportunities. Overall I thought the value for this trip was very good, and we were so happy we went through Shark Explorers given how amazing the staff was. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have a chance for an up-close encounter with sharks and an unforgettable shark diving experience

Amazing experience, worth every penny, the crew were fantastic and gave us longer in the water to give as much opportunity as possible to see sharks. At no point did I feel in danger. The group size was about right for the activity and meant the activity felt personal

The crew of shark excursions were great from booking to the crew in the office and boat. They have a fantastic way of putting you at ease. I didn’t think I would get in the cage, but I did and I was very happy that I did. It was fantastic. We saw 15-20 sharks up close. I highly recommend this excursion. Great team!!

The staff was very friendly and professional. Everything went according to the briefing that was given out there it and never did shark diving before and want the try it. I was very happy that I did it with them

What an amazing day out on the water. On the way to the shark dive, we were able to see dolphins, sea lions, and even a whale. At the shark dive, many copper sharks came close up to the cage. Some were even touching the cage, it was a very exciting and exhilarating! I strongly recommend this experience for anybody who is a shark or wild animal enthusiast.

One of the best experiences I've had in Cape town. Previously I've done the full day trip from Hermanus but this was so much better. Less than 45 minutes drive from Cape Town city centre and the office is on the main road through Simon's town so easy to find. We were only out on the boat around 3 hours which for someone who gets sea sick was much better! Saw loads of dolphins and sealions on the way out and a whale on the way back. 5 or 6 people in the cage at once, had around 20 minutes in the cage per group. We saw around 8 sharks, multiple very close to the cage. Great staff, highly recommend this experience.

This was such an amazing experience, this is something my husband has wanted to do for ages, and i think it out done all his expectations. I was a little nervous to do this at first but once on the boat the crew make you feel confident and i got in the water with no nerves, so glad i did. the experience was incredible. all the crew make it fun and really interact with you giving you information about the sharks and the area. They are very knowledgably. The meeting point was nice having tea and coffee on arrival making you feel relaxed and welcomed. The price of the experience i felt was good value and worth every penny. I did get quite sick after going in to the water a combination of swallowing to much sea water and sea sickness, but staff were great and really looked after me. I was just really embarrassed. you can have a shower back at the office after which were really warm, just what you need after being in the cold sea. Although the wet suits that are provided do keep you warm in the water and with all the adrenaline flowing you do not notice the cold temp of the water. would highly recommend the best experience ever.

This is a bucket list must-do! If you thought this wasn't the type of activity you would ever contemplate, I am here to tell you this one is for you! Lindy was extremely responsive to all our questions when we first called to schedule. The entire crew was amazing, funny, and made everyone feel at ease. We had different levels on our boat, including those who had never done anything similar. Everyone had a great time, and we got some amazing "up close and personal" shark pictures to show for it! When we got back to shore, hot showers and towels were waiting for us. Everyone can get a port shot, but you will be walking away with a lifetime experience. BOOK NOW

What an incredible experience from start to finish! I booked this as a surprise for my husband and ended up joining him, despite being absolutely terrified. I'm so glad I did because it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had. We arranged transfers, and from the moment Warren picked us up, we knew we were in great hands. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, sharing fascinating information about the areas we drove through, explaining exactly what to expect from the day, and entertaining us with great stories along the way. He really set the tone for an amazing adventure. When we arrived at the dive centre, every member of the team was welcoming, informative, and, most importantly, encouraging. They made us feel safe, prepared, and excited for what was ahead. The crew out on the boat were just as fantastic—professional, supportive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Yes, the water was freezing, but the moment we came face-to-face with these magnificent sharks, the cold and my fear completely disappeared. Seeing these incredible animals up close in their natural environment was an experience I'll never forget. A huge thank you to everyone at Shark Explorers for making the entire day so special. If you're sitting on the fence about doing this, stop thinking about it and just jump in—you absolutely will not regret it. It's an unforgettable adventure and one I'd recommend to everyone!

Shark explorers made the whole experience fantastic. Captain Nina, Jason and Ernest were super friendly, very professional and very knowledgeable. Even though you're dealing with 3.5 metre sharks you felt completely safe at all times. You must do it, proper bucket list item!

11/10 experience, a warm welcome on arrival and we got to see seals and humpback whales on the way out to the dive site. The Bronze Whaler sharks were big and were plentiful and the crew did a great job at attracting them to the cage for a very close encounter. We also opted to pay to use their GoPro camera and we got some brilliant footage. Thanks to Ernest and the rest of the crew for a truly memorable experience.

Absolutely lovely group and experience! They were so much fun and enthusiastic!! The sharks were magical! I didn't want to get out.

I was let down by another provider and didn’t realise this company was close to where I was staying I contacted them at 9pm the day before and they saved the day! One of the best experiences I have had in my life, great crew and captain couldn’t do enough for us very accommodating, we seen about a dozen different sharks some of them the size of the cage! It was brilliant remember it for life, really made my visit to South Africa rememberable,

We could not recommend this highly enough it was incredible! We were greeted at the base by Ernest (Eazy E) who was great really friendly and gave us a quick brief on the day ahead. We then headed down to the boat where we met Nina & Steph who were the skippers. We had a safety briefing before heading out to the drop site about 30 minutes from the harbour and were offered snacks/drinks throughout. On arrival we were the first group in so we got ready with the aid of the crew and got into the cage. The next 30-40 minutes were truly special Ernest, Nina & Steph worked so hard to lure in the sharks as close as possible and wow they got close as the fin nearly hit my wife in the face! We had so many close passes it was incredible seeing these creatures so close up. After getting out while waiting for the next group there were excellent views of the sharks from above. When that group finished we headed back to shore and to the base where we could if we wanted grab a shower or another hot drink. We spent our time continuing to talk to Ernest about his experiences his passion for sharks is infectious as is Nina & Stephs too, this is truly a remarkable experience worth every penny and we just want to thank the crew again!

What a buzz ! We took our son out for his 17th birthday as it’s always been a dream of his . A little cool in the water , but that feeling disappeared when we had sharks circulating around . Many slamming their heads onto the cage . Loved every minute 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Shark Explorers is a must do activity when in Cape Town. It's an experience that you'll never forget. From booking all the way through seeing dozens of sharks, the crew is outstanding. I felt safe the entire trip, especially when within inches of the Sharks. Bring your friends and family, you'll be happy you did. I will do this again!

Had a great experience with Shark Explorers. Ernest, Nina, and Captain Stef did an excellent job throughout the day. They were friendly, organized, and made the experience feel safe and well run from start to finish. The shark activity was better than I expected. We saw around 15 to 20 bronze whaler sharks over the course of the trip. At one point, there were well over a dozen visible through my goggles while I was in the cage, which was an incredible sight. As a solo traveler, I also appreciated how welcoming the crew was. I’d definitely recommend Shark Explorers to anyone looking to go shark cage diving in South Africa.

Unbelievable shark encounter! The crew could not have done more to attract the sharks and get them close to the cage. The whole experience was very comfortable and felt safe. The crew were all amazing, but shout out to Earnest for bringing some fun to the whole experience. This was unforgettable.

My daughter and I had a great time. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We saw over 20 sharks, a couple of silly seals and a huge pod of dolphins. Don't hesitate, just do it.

What an amazing experience!! Lucky with the weather and sea conditions too. The team looked after us really well and we're great fun too. We saw around 25 copper sharks and when in the cage they lured them close so we could look them in the eyes!!! On way back we were lucky to see over 1,000 dolphins working together on a bait ball. Absolutely amazing 😍

Had the best time of my life!!!! The crew were absolutely azaming. Fun and jokes the whole trip which made everyone on board feels relaxed. It was 50th birthday treat and I was blown away with how many bronze whaler sharks we saw. The seals were massive didn't think they could get that big and to see then swimming among the sharks blew my mind!!!!! If your thinking about a trip to capetown and want to do the cage dive use shark explorers you will not be disappointed!!! Thanks againg guys you made my trip an absolute blast!!!

Going into it I was skeptical of seeing a ton of sharks but not only did we see roughly 20 sharks we also saw seals and everybody got to feed the seagulls and other birds fish directly from their hands. Another thing to mention is that each and every one of the guides on the boat were exceptional. They made sure everyone was well taken care of and they were funny and energetic. Would highly recommend this to anyone in Capetown.

This experience was fantastic!! I am so glad my sister and I decided to try out shark cage diving last week! It was such an adrenaline rush and just so much fun. I will be talking about this for a long time, and it was absolutely a major highlight of our trip. The crew were attentive and so much fun!

Great day out! We are from Brisbane so have some experience snorkelling/diving reef and other marine ecosystems. Visibility wasn’t great, even though the weather was magic but the crew and admin staff were awesome! Really nice and cared about our experience and safety. We had 20 sharks! Many were at least the length of the cage. The cage was a great experience, even though the water was cold. Would definitely do this again and highly recommend the professional, friendly staff at Shark Explorers. They provided wetsuits with hoods, dive boots and towels. Very helpful not to have to bring our own gear. I still brought my diving gloves for the cold water but not necessary if you can handle cold water. Bring warm clothes to change into as the wind can kick up a bit and we went in Winter.

I couldn’t recommend this experience more. I had second thoughts and the staff was more than accepting of me opting out of the cage and I had a great time watching from the boat. If you are on the fence or unsure if you want in, the boat still had incredible view. We saw sharks, seals, and a pod of over 1,500 dolphins. It was truly an amazing experience. Additionally, Lindy was very easy to communicate with, and Warren did our door to door transport which was so stress free. Thank you all!

This experience was amazing! From start to finish, the staff was kind, helpful and safe. Securing a pickup/dropoff from our hotel was super easy. We saw lots of sharks, dolphins & seals- exactly what we wanted. 10/10 recommend this!

Everything was fantastic, our pickup driver so friendly, the check in process very smooth, there were hot/cold beverages available at the store and drinks with snacks on the boat. The staff very skilled and knowledgeable. I had an amazing time, I will definitely do it again and highly recommend this place to everyone!!

We had an absolutely amazing time with Shark Explorers. We did this with our three kids (ages 10, 8, and 6) and they could not have made it more fun for them. From the kids getting to feed birds in flight next to the boat, to helping them get their equipment on, to encouraging them when they got nervous, everyone was so amazing. We saw hundreds of dolphins, three whales, seals, and lots of sharks. This tour met all my expectations and more!

What an amazing experience ! The experience in whole for our first time was exceptional. Everyone was so amazing and the warm welcome you get from everyone is as if you are part of the family. I wasn’t sure if this bucket list to do was one of my fears and turns out it was not, mainly because of how comfortable I was made. Before I forget… we got to see thousands of dolphins and whales. What an experience ! The communication and interaction was on point . Let’s just say I’d do it again! Shout out to Shark explorers and Rascals pub and grill . If I didn’t meet Stef at Rascals, we would not have had the opportunity to experience this

Firstly we must shoutout to Lindy, a lovely, caring lady who supported us with providing a private and quite location to join a live video feed of a family event. The whole team were fantastic throughout, particularly Ernest. This was an amazing experience with a well organised, safe and fun team of people. Everything went seamlessly. We saw a breaching whale on the way to our shark site. You can clearly see the sharks from the boat, we had over a dozen Bronze whaler sharks around the cage and had just over 20 minutes in the cage, inches away from the sharks. What an amazing experience with a great group of people. Highly recommended.

Was a phenomenal experience that my entire family (ages 49,46, 16,14 and 12) absolutely LOVED!!! Big E, Jason and Nina and the crew took such great care of everyone on board from beginning to end. So reassuring and comforting for all the folks who were a bit frightened. They made it fun and ensured we encountered sharks and had a great time on the boat. I will recommend them to everyone!!!

I had an absolutely phenomenal time going on this caged shark dive with Shark Explorers. Stef, the lead of 3 on our boat, was hilarious and extremely helpful. There were 15 total of divers on our trip. I was traveling solo and was in Cape Town for the marathon. There was one other marathoner on board. The boat went out to sea for about 20 to 30 minutes, then we went down in the cage in 3 groups of 5; each group was in the water for 20 minutes. We were given nicely thick wetsuits--much thicker than the ones I wear for triathlons--and were also given large goggles. No other scuba gear; each time the sharks came close we each just took a deep breath and went under. We were able to purchase water proof covers for our phones so we were able to photograph and videotape the sharks under water. I absolutely loved seeing the sharks! Wasn't scary at all, just fun. Honestly, this was a highlight of what for me was a very phenomenal week plus in South Africa. Don't miss it. REPEAT: Don't miss it!
