Drive by this popular wine region in Cape Town which draws thousands of travelers annually. There a over 130 wine estates in Stellenbosch some of which offer cellar tours. They also offer wine tasting experiences and the reason why this is the most popular is because of Stellenbosch University. Thus university draws thousands of international students who help in the marketing of this wine region.
One of the oldest settlements in South Africa first established as a farming community in 1687. Now a major wine producing region of the Western Cape Province. There is the Afrikaans Language Monument which is one of the major attractions besides visiting the wineries for wine tasting. Paarl is also home to Paarl Rock - one of the two biggest single rock outcrop in the world. The other being the Uluru rock in the central Northern parts of Australia. There are currently some 560 wineries and this is also home to Nederberg Wine Estate the first ever winery to introduce wine auctioning every year in the world.
The wine region with the gourmet town of South Africa. The picturesque valley is known to have the best restaurants and chefs according to annual competions in South Africa. It is also home to the Victor Vester Prison where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for the last 3 years prior to his release. It is the smallest of the three but the most attractive because of its history culture and attachment to those who brought the culture of wine and vinegar production to South Africa - the French Huguenots
An almost 4 km long tunnel built under the Du Toitskloof mountains providing a route that is shorter (by 11 km) and faster. This tunnel was constructed by Italian prisoners of war among others. Work began in 1942 and 1945 because of the World War 1. In 1984 work began ending in March 1988. This tunnel takes you through to an amazing valley with dramatic mountains on both side of the freeway. It takes you to Worcester one of the best wine regions close to Cape Town.
Another wine region along the scenic drive to Aquila located about 120 km from Cape Town. This wine region is best known for its magnificent Cathedral but is also know famous for the world renowned Worcester Porcelain. Here is also home to piquant Worcestershire Sauce and the most picturesque cricket ground in the country. All this is besides its magnificent wine producing valley.
A very small town in the Breed Valley Local Municipality along the freeway to Aquila. This attractive town nestled in a valley is only 7 km from Worcester and after this place you get to Hex Valley. Hex Valley is also another wine region in the Western Cape Province which produces top quality grapes for export market only.

Oradin was a friendly and very imformed driver and historian of South Africa. He engaged us from the minute we got into his very clean vehicle and accomodated our need for multiple stops.
Ordain was so amazing the whole experience was perfect! The drive there was beautiful and the Safari experience was awesome!!!
Great tour leader in Ordain who was very informative and friendly. Great safari, seeing most of the big 5 (no leopards but didn't expect to see them). Very nice breakfast and lunch at Aquila too. Ordain was kind enough to take us wine tasting on the return trip. Highly recommended.
I did go on the Safari in the Safari was wonderful. But I went for a half day. Viator would not let me cancel the full day. Very, very disappointEd
This was a fabulous tour. Our guide, Ordain, was prompt, friendly, an excellent driver, and informative. The Aquila Game reserve was beautiful and on the safari their goal was for you to see all the animals you came to see. We added a wine tasting on the way home and Ordain booked us reservations at a beautiful winery with superb wine! It was an excellent day!
Great day, must see trip if in cape town and have to say our driver was fantastic, could not do enough for us 10 out of 10... brilliant 🙏😁😁
I went on the Aquila Day Safari with Ordain as my driver and guide. He picked me up promptly from my hotel, described the different regions that we were driving through on the way to the game reserve and kept me entertained with his conversation in general. There was time to use the restroom and water was also provided on the journey. At the park we had a welcome drink prior to breakfast, set out on the safari itself and then had lunch upon our return before driving back to Cape Town. I did this as a solo traveller and would recommend it to anyone in a similar position who is visiting Cape Town.
Ordain was amazing best tour guide. This excursion is phenomenal. He is very organized and wants us to have the best time.
This was a great tour, we got to see a lot of the country side, in addition to the amazing safari at Aquila. The tour is well worth it!
Ordain was an awesome guide and full of knowledge. He was patient, kind and friendly and a joy to have for the day in SA!
Ordain is a great guide in South Africa! It was my first trip to the country. I booked last minute less than 24 hrs. notice and he was at our hotel lobby at 6:30AM to take us on a full day tour of Aquila Safari and we squeezed in a wine tasting at a winery on the way back. I appreciate all the knowledge and history he was able to share and all of the questions I had about the country, culture, food and politics. He's very flexible with our requests as well. By the end of the day, we asked him to pick us up the next morning for a different excursion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I will Call Ordain next time I visit Cape Town! Thanks!
We did the full 1 day trip, aquila safari, bus ride was ok, seem to go on forever, guide we had was excellent, assisted on coach and plenty of information about cape town on the way. On arrival, nice friendly greeting, good buffet style breakfast try the sausage, they reyt nice!! Boarded the safari trucks, very bumpy at the back, try to sit further forward. Did see up close, gariffe, hippo's, elephants, welder breast, antelope, springbok, zebra's, rhino's and ostriches, all with a very knowledgeable guide. Sadly the lions didnt come out to play today, not through the lag of the guide trying to find em, more than 3 times circled around. Good toilet stop, plenty of vino flowing n bottled water. Back for a Braai style lunch, enjoyed afternoon in pool, drinking and meeting new friends. Trip back abit shorter as they go through the tunnel, instead of the svenuc route over mountain, the way ya come. Good out, not to be missed.
From the moment we arrived and we’re told our room wasn’t ready and we’re greeted with a sickly sweet fizzy wine I knew we had made a mistake. I booked a family Lodge for the three of us. We were shown into two rooms. One with a view of the hills the other room with only a window overlooking a corridor which you needed to be 5ft tall to see out of……. It was not a great start for our two night stay. Needless to say I went to reception to be told we are full no other rooms available. I felt we had been duped. The booking form clearly shows lodges on stilts. That what I thought I booked still we were there now…. The catering experience was no where near 4* it was school dinners. The waiting staff were all helpful, polite and friendly. The food was ample in quantity but quality was lacking. Lots of Pasta, lots of Salad, lots of Potato lots of Bread and lots of processed cheese and biscuits. We had booked 4 Safari experience…….honestly, only one 2 hour tour in a lorry with 24 others was necessary. The lorry trip was excruciatingly uncomfortable sit at the front if you can. The roads were in an awful condition. The animals were basically fed in the mornings and afternoons after which you were driven around to see them. Three elephants, three lions, three giraffes. Plenty of Springbox buffalo and rhino it was basically a zoo where 4 of the big 5 could be seen. No mention of Leopards though………where were they??? The promises of the Big 5 seemed to be false and there was no mention of where the leopards were…… We agree to spend 1,000rand on a Quad bike Safari. The quad bikes were death traps bent broken! The helmets we were given were very old, filthy and completely disgusting. Finally no TVs in any rooms and the WiFi was a joke…….. no streaming was possible at all and getting on line was almost impossible. When you did get online it dropped out almost immediately which in 2022 was completely unacceptable. Go for a day with low expectations of what you might see and please do not expect to see the Big 5 and you will be fine! We were so very disappointed!!
I can not even pin point out as to how my trip was as it's unexplainable. A big thumb up to you @Ordain, if time permits we should ree xplore again.
It was my birthday month, had the most fun and won the best dress enjoyed my gift, awesome trip ever. Wish to repeat it very soon.
Had a great time. Mr. Ordain is very friendly and ready to cater to our needs. He was on time and the journey was comfortable
Magnificent experience that I recommend to everyone for various reasons. Our guide Mike was amazing, both as an operator and as a person because for some of our health problems he waited for us about half an hour to allow us to join in this experience as well. He was very kind and along the way from Cape Town to Safari he explained a lot about the history and traditions of the City. We also made a stop along the way. Arriving at the reserve we had a buffet lunch and then we started the safari. We have seen the big five except leopards and believe me when I tell you that it is a one-of-a-kind experience. I recommend it to everyone because they are things to try at least once in a lifetime
