Very sombering experience learning about aparthied and the torture that has gone on in South Africa since the Dutch arrived in the 1600's. Both guides were excellent.
The boat ride was delightful, waiting to board was a little too long. But our guide on the bus ride was still quite angry with his experience and took a long time to explain ends up we didn’t have much time to view the jail rooms. He even demanded tip
Everything is wonderful on the tour except for the ferry ride! It was awful being jammed in and not able to take advantage of the stunning views. Our tour guide on the bus, Yasien Mohomed was so engaging and gave a wonderful tour. Our guide in the prison was also very interesting to listen to. Improve the ferry trip and I would give it 5 stars 🌟
From the pick up and the explanation of the tour, this trip was a great experience for me as a first time visitor to the Cape. I learned so much and I was guided wonderfully on how the experience would go. It was even more pleasant than depicted. I appreciate the invaluable lesson from the tour and the preparation for it. Not sure what was gained by booking with viator (or any other third party) All the activity was done by robben Island. The groups going round the prison are so big that unless you stay close by the guide you don’t hear what he is saying

The tour provider couldn't have been more helpful. He arranged to pick us up with the wheelchair from our hotel and returned us at the end, neither of which incurred additional coat as it wasn't included in the tour price. The tour of Robben Island itself was a disappointment and very rushed and although advertised as wheelchair friendly, it wasn't. Personally, I found the bus guides commentary very self-indulgent and bordering on insulting and overt racism that seemed to leave many embarrassed by his attempt to make every white person on the bus experience guilt for the actions that has nothing to do with them.
Lovely been shown around by an ex political prisoner. However, just over 2 hrs there was too little. It could never be classed as a half day tour.
I booked this tour very late- at 10pm the night before - and Fayical, the tour leader, was very prompt in responding and confirming the booking, the pickup time, and what I would need for the tour. When he picked me up, he was on time, friendly, knowledgeable.

Excellent half day tour. Fayical collected us from Bay Hotel in Camps Bay and drove us to V&A to get the ferry across to Robben Island. The tour was very interesting and informative. An ex prisoner was our guide around the prison and spent a lot of time telling us about his experience as he had been incarcerated for 12 years. We then saw the cell that Nelson Mandela was in before we got the ferry back where Fayical met us and took us back to our hotel. Excellent service and would highly recommend this tour
