The trip to Robben Island and Table Mountain were great. We really enjoyed our experience, especially with our guide Thomas.

Itinerary
We will pick you up at your accommodation in Cape Town at 8:00 am by a qualified tour guide/driver and transfer you to the Nelson Mandela Gateway – at the Clocktower Precinct in the V & A Waterfront for your boat departure.
Please note that your tour guide/driver will not be joining you on the boat or at the island as there will be a resident sight guide on the island who will give you a guided tour. The ferry boat will set sail to Robben Island. The entire tour duration will be up to 3.5 hours including ferry journey times. When you reach the island, you will disembark at Murray’s Bay Harbour and take a brief walk to the bus that will transport you around the island. A former political prisoner will give you a guided tour. This includes a viewing of Nelson Mandela’s cell. After the tour, you will return to the Clocktower Precinct at the V&A Waterfront at approximately 12:30. Your tour guide/driver will be waiting to welcome you back at the port and offer you an option to enjoy lunch at the many eateries/restaurants in the V&A Waterfront.
The tour guide will return to collect you from the restaurant and escort you to the awaiting vehicle. Then we depart from the Waterfront for your second half of the tour route - the Cape Town City tour. We begin in the heart of the city in Adderley street where you will view historical monuments like Bartholomew Dias, Jan van Riebeeck and Zackarias Waganaer Reservoir. Thereafter see some heritage museums like the Slave Lodge and Cape Castle. View the City Hall and the Company Gardens and proceed past the House of Parliament. Stop at the Bo Kaap where to see the Colourful houses in the Cape Quarter and stop to take some photos and greet the locals if they are in sight. Guests will have the option to stop at Afrogem to witness the production of fine African jewelry with a focus on rich gold, platinum, diamonds and tanzanite. Guests will be able to walk the working factory floor and purchase the jewelry.
Thereafter, we take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain to explore this unique piece of nature. Note: Table Mountain cable car entry tickets are excluded from this tour. We recommend that travellers pre-purchase their Table Mountain tickets ahead of time online to avoid possible ticketing queue delays.
Upon our return from Table Mountain, you will be dropped off at their accommodation after the tour between 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm.

Gift was amazing! He was such an informative tour guide and made us feel so comfortable. He really went above and beyond. He helped us navigate beyond our excursion and was so helpful. Highly recommend
We had a great time during all of our tour, everything went as planned. Clement was very polite, he was on time to pick us up at the hotel, had great explanations about the sightseeing and history, and the private car was really comfortable. We recommend the company and the tours for all travelers.
Many many thanks to Nathan, our tour guide, a very professional and kind person. He was always attentive to our preferences
Twas a great experience..well organised and timely. There was constant communication and reminders including clear instructions. Pickup time was exact. Roben island trip was cute. City tour trip was amazing
We’re traveling with our adult children (24 & 27) and wanted to see two of the most important sites in Cape Town (obviously very different experiences). Our schedule meant we needed to do both in one day and this tour perfectly fit the bill. Djiby, our driver, was outstanding. He drove us to both sites, provided informative background and was flexible in regard to our needs as our Robben Island return trip was delayed causing a change in our lunch plans and Table Mountain timing. Djiby is friendly, personable and an excellent driver. Robben Island was a heavy visit and the former prisoner tour guide was informative and inspiring. Table Mountain was inspiring from a breathtaking natural perspective. Everyone agrees, this was a spectacular day and we’re glad we started with Robben Island and finished with Table Mountain as Table Mountain renewed our souls after seeing the horror man can subject another man to.
it is just a pick up service, the driver/guide do not go with you to the island/table mountain. the downtown city tour is in the car, you do not even visit the places. Misguiding description in the page. To me this tour is a SCAM, do not book it.
This is a great tour which covers so much . Our tour guide Alex was so good. He showed us round and took photos for us and was very kind. He was well informed and answered any questions we had.
Great tour to see all the Cape Town highlights. Rubin our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We toured Robben island and end with the spectacular views from Table Mountain.
Tour was amazing, we enjoyed this tour. Being on top of table mountain was breathtaking. Seeing Robbin’s island was a very nice historical landmark to see but very sad to know how people had their freedom unjustly taken away. Our tour guide for Robbin’s island was once a prisoner for 5 years on the island. So glad Mr Mandela had the means to open the doors of freedom. JuJu was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable. Answered all our question and gave excellent advise to keeping us safe. He is an Awesome tour guide.
Excellent tours and Ray our guide was very informative. Robben Island tours were very well organised.
Great tour walking around the city, Kevin was very knowledgeable and helped us to understand the history of various places and parts of the city. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience
Our trip to Robben Island was cancelled but we only received a partial refund. Our guide Morne picked us up at 8am, drove us to the dock where we discovered the trip to Robben Island was cancelled - refunded £52.27 out of total of £332.72. Morne then drove us around Cape Town for 60 minutes before taking us to the District Six Museum - we had to pay the entrance fee. Our trip included entrance fees to all attractions but no refund received for these. Our full day excursion was completed by 11am....very disappointing day.
Great tour of Robben Island with Ntando Mbatah, former political prisoner of the island. He shared his story of his emprisonnent of 7 years. The guide for the tour of the island was delightful and funny! Our tour guide of the city and table mountain was very knowledgeable and forthcoming with details about the city and the politics of Sourh Africa. A great day!
We had an absolutely amazing time with our tour guide, Wilson! His extensive knowledge and ability to share captivating insights into the history of each site we visited truly made the entire tour outstanding. Wilson's passion for the subject matter was infectious, and his skillful storytelling kept us engaged throughout. His friendly and approachable nature created an atmosphere where we felt comfortable asking questions and engaging in discussions. Thanks to Wilson, this tour turned into an unforgettable journey into the past, leaving all of us enlightened and incredibly inspired.
Alex was very knowledgeable and eager to answer all of our questions. He was personable and we enjoyed his humor. We would him as a private tour guide in Capetown.
We took this tour with Rubin as our guide and he was excellent. The Robben Island trip was taken without him although he pre-booked the tickets and made sure we got on the boat ok, but from then on it was a whirlwind tour. He was able to get us onto the cable car without any delays, as everyone seems to know him. We were lucky with the weather, which was perfect, so we had fantastic views from the mountain and then he gave us a fabulous city tour until it was dark. He took lots of photos of my husband and I, so we have a great record of the day. I couldn't believe how many sights we saw and Rubin went the extra mile to make sure we didn't miss anything. This was a great tour, not least because it was private, with just two of us as guests. It was great not having to worry about anyone else. I thoroughly recommend this tour and especially Rubin as a guide.
Ruben is a great tour guide due to weather conditions we had to change the tour. We have seen so many nice places and received a lot historic information. He is very helpful and he makes sure you are comfortable during the tour. He even reserved a restaurant in a short noticed so we could enjoyed our lunch together.
The tour was excellent. We started off with a ferry ride to Robben Island, where we toured the island itself, learning about it's history. Then we went on a walking tour with a former inmate of the area of the prison where Nelson Mandela, as well as other political prisoners were held. From there our guide, Thomas met us at the ferry dock and drove us to Table Mountain, as he pointed out historical places along our trip and provided some history about Cape town. He was very knowledgeable about the area and was also very friendly. He joined us to the top of Table Mountain where he again provided us with information about Cape Town. He escorted us around the mountain top, stopping at key points to take our picture with the amazing back drop. After table mountain we toured some more parts of the city and he brought us to a local restaurant to eat authentic south African cuisine. It was an excellent restaurant, and the food was amazing.
Superb all day tour with an excellent guide in Thomas who was extremely knowledgeable and imparted the knowledge in an engaging manner. Robben Island was equally impressive and made all that more impactful by the former inmate presenting his own and that of the other prisoners experiences. Highly recommend the overall experience. Table Mountain is an absolute must but the guided knowledge is equally as important.
We had a full one-day tour with our tour guide, Peter. He arrived at our hotel on-time. Peter started by telling us a little bit about the history of Cape Town--it's original boundaries, it's significance in trade, apartheid, etc. He drove us around Cape Town to the old castle. We took pictures underneath the balcony where Nelson Mandela addressed the crowd after being freed from prison. We visited the Malay section with its colorful houses, then we went to Table Mountain for a very detailed tour. We also viewed Lions Head and drove to Signal Mountain, where we watched hang gliders take off, fly over the city and land on the shore. Peter then drove us downtown to get a lunch--a rotie gatsby--which we took with us to eat at the shore park, where we then walked to the nearby dock to take a ferry to Robben Island. Once on Robben Island, we received a presentation by one of the former inmates, and we were able to view Nelson Mandela's former cell there. When we returned, our tour guide returned us safely to our hotel. I can't express the level of professionalism, great manners and patience that Peter exhibited during our tour, and I would highly recommend this private tour to everyone!
The day did not go well.Met tour guide at 8:15,walked to Pier for Robbin Island In a long queue to be informed our tickets were for 11am,not 9am.The tour guide told us they would not be with us to Robbin Island. Over 1 hr.30 mins wasted. The operator assumed the tickets were for 9am. Discussion a quick ad hoc tour of city but to return to Pier by 10:30 for 11am trip to Robbin Island. Frustrated our timetable was now out of sync, this was an 8-4pm tour.Returning to hotel, operator could then not find transport us.If we were to do Robbin Island & Table Mountain ( tickets bought for the cable car as instructed by the tour company £36) we would not finish until pass 6pm.We told them we would attend Robbin Island for 11am trip but cancelled the rest, we had other things planned, last night of our trip to Cape Town. Very dissatisfied with the lack of preparation, no apology. Costings: £341 + £36(cable car) for this experience. I sought out the actual price to Robbin Island (£55 for 2 persons) we asked to be refunded for the rest of the alleged tour. They have refused. Apart from this company booking Robbin Island tickets (wrong time!) have to say doing the sums very overpriced as we walked to and from the Pier (no cost) and no other service from this company. We missed our opportunity to be at the top of Table Mountain, a private tour, hmmmm nothing as they did not travel with us to Robbin Island.I suspect not to top of Table Mountain either. A sad way to end one's holiday.
We were picked up at our hotel by our lovely guide Kevin at 8am prompt. From there we were taken to the ferry to take us to Robben Island. Kevin was there to pick us up on return and we had contact by mobile. We then enjoyed a tour of Cape Town and the day was completed with a fabulous trip up Table Mountain. Kevin met us at the top after we’d had a wander round enjoying the spectacular views. We felt that there was no pressure to rush to get us back to our hotel despite the afternoon getting late. We were a little underwhelmed by the Robben island trip although it was still interesting. But the visit to Bo Kaap and the Table Mountain was the highlight of our day.
Right from being picked up at our accomodation to then being dropped off was an extremely informative and pleasurable day. Highly recommended.
It was a great day spent with our guide, Alex. We visited Robben Island, had lunch at the V & A Waterfront and went directly to Table Top Mtn. It’s very windy and my hat blew off! We then took the tour of the city.
Ferdinand was a great guide - picked us up on time and provided great information throughout. For Robben Island, if you get motion sick at all take dramamine - it is 30 minutes of fairly rough ocean each way. Table Mountain was awesome - we had our lunch on the top of the mountain and had plenty of time to explore and walk around. We ended the trip at a market - this was a great opportunity to buy some gifts.
Thomas was excellent ,very knowledgeable about the Cape’s recent political story and it’s historical story ,he put it across really well, turned up everywhere on time and still gave us plenty of time to explore, cannot fault him.A highly recommended tour and experience
We were looked after extremely well by Thomas. He is very knowledgable and made the trips effortless. I would highly recommend this trip.
We wanted to learn more about this part of South Africa's history and this tour was a great start. Having an actual convict tell the story was a plus we didn't expect, or fully appreciate, until we were there. Beginning could have been shorter, but tour overall packs a wallop.
Robben Island and Table Mountains are must see places when visiting Cape Town. Our guide, Ray was awesome!
The advert is not clear that you must pay for table mountain, we had to pay for our selves while we have booked a combo. We asked for price breakdown and Viator failed to explain that to us. Terrible service indeed.
There was no guide. Just a driver in a fancy car. Could have saved up on a lot of money if I had known that the guide was basically a driver with poor communication. Not worth the money.
We were picked up by a driver with terrible English. He wanted to push as quickly as possible trough the day. Eventually you pay a tremendous amount of money for nothing. You can book your robben island ticket yourself, request an Uber and save 100 USD each. We had to pay ourselves for Table mountain access. Called Viator who was unfriendly and said that is not included. If we can not read. Huge rip off. Better give to money to people in the country who do actual work.
We toured Robben Island and it was great. We weren’t able to tour Table Mountain due to fog, which wasn’t the operator’s fault of course. The issue was the guide: He showed up 20 minutes late. We lost 15 minutes because he could not figure out how to get out of the small parking garage. He had not pre-arranged for download of our ferry tickets to Robben Island; we sat while he did that. When we reached the head of the line to board the ferry, our tickets weren’t valid—they had been used the day before and were in someone else’s name. We established a meet point to rejoin him after the tour at Robben Island which I confirmed with him—even pointing down and saying “we are to meet on these steps here, right here, correct?” to which he answered “yes, right here”. But, he failed to show up at 1:00pm as agreed. I placed four phone calls to the tour operator’s office before someone answered. When I finally reached a person, she said our guide could see us and was walking towards us—I told her that our guide was BS-ing her, that no one was in sight and walking toward us. We waited on the steps as agreed until 2:00pm—then left to use a toilet and get something to eat. At 2:06 the office called to say the guide as coming, I advised her we were eating, but could hurry our eating and be back to the meet point in 40 minutes—and again confirmed the meet point. He did not show, so we gave up and went to find a taxi back to the ship—and found our guide sitting in his car! We were very disappointed by the poor service. Its the only time we have had a problem with a Viator-booked tour. We will use Viator again, but strongly recommend you drop this tour operator so others don’t have a similar experience.
Best part was the talk about the lives of the political prisoners! Seeing the yard where they did sports and Mandela’s cell.
There were two momentous parts. 1) the tickets that were sent for the Robben Island visit had an incorrect date. We almost missed the boat. We’re the last to board. 2) Received an email 12 hours before pick up that I had to buy 4 tickets for the Table mountain able car. I didn’t know that was not included. The tickets that I was told to by were non refundable and at the time the cable car was already an Elle’s and no one informed us. We paid 1650 Rand for nothing. The guide Joshua was wonderful. But cannot recommended anyone to this company
A must do tour in Capetown. Amazing Capetown experience. Started with Ferry Ride to Robbens Island, a very informational tour of Robbens Island by a former inmate with Nelson Mandela. After a quick lunch at the V & A Waterfront, we were off to an informational CapeTown City Tour with our Amazing Tour Guide, Joshua. Next we took a Cable Car ride to the top of Table Mountain. It was a long day but well worth the experience.
Our tour guide Robert was amazing ensuring that we saw all of Cape Town before heading to Robben Island. He was truly knowledgeable and very accommodating. If you book with this company, be sure to request Robert for your driver. We enjoyed speaking with an ex prisoner at Robben Island and immersing ourselves. I would definitely return.
We had a fabulous day doing this tour. Barnabus Marshall picked us up at our hotel in a beautiful Mercedes SLK car and took us to the Robben Island Ferry. We boarded and went over to the island to be greeted by a tour guide on a bus tour of the island which was very informative. We then went to the prison and received a group guided tour of the prison by an ex prisoner which was very moving. On our return Barnabus Marahll meet us and took us to the nearby indoor food market where we had lunch (own expense) which was very nice then we headed to Table Mountain. We had already purchased our tickets in advance so we went straight in the cable car which was very fast (3 Mins) . He joined us and gave us some historical information when we reached the top. We had a walk around and took plenty of pictures. Afterwards we returned to the car as we had already seen some areas of the city on another tour two days previously we asked if we could it go to Bo-Kaap area which we did and he gave us information about the area and we took some pictures afterwards we went to Afrogem to see how the diamonds and other gems are made into jewellery and we’re given a tour of their factory which was very interesting and was good for us as we had already seen the city centre . Excellent tour and fabulous friendly tour guide Barnabus Marshall thanks 🙏
Our guide Ruben was very knowledgeable about all the areas of Cape Town and a wonderful historian. He explained parts of Tabletop mountain flora and animals. We also went to the botanical gardens which made the day a memorable journey to add to our travel books. Robben island was very interesting and in itself a beautiful island. The guide we happen to have there was a former prisoner. I would recommend this tour if you like birds, flora, wildlife and definitely request Ruben.
Ask for Seifu!! He was WONDERFUL!! Here are some of the reasons why we thought he was awesome: -Very knowledgeable about the area -Treated us like family (the family members you like) - Very accomdating - someone in our group needed assistance walking and he was patient even holding her hand to walk across the cobblestone - Communicated well using WhatsUp app -Was always on time (even early) at our pickup spots - Really easy going
This was a very well organized whole day tour that allowed us to see a lot in one day! Our guide Gavin was wonderful. It was my sister and I and Gavin was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure the day went smoothly and we never felt rushed! I highly recommend it!
We booked this tour looking forward to going to Robben Island and taking the cable car at Table Mountain, but unfortunately the beautiful windy weather did not cooperate, lol. Our tour guide Alex picked us up at 8:00 and took us around the town, riding up the coast toward Table Mountain. Once we got to the top of Table Mountain to purchase tickets for the cable car, we were informed that it was closed all day due to the wind. Alex improvised and took us to another area that gave the same panoramic views, if not better. To be honest, we were a bit relieved, because the windy weather had us nervous about taking a cable car. The views were beautiful and breathtaking. We then drove through the city of Cape Town and Alex educated us on some of the historical buildings and areas in the city. When we got to the station to board for Robben Island we learned that no boat was going because of the wind :( no worries though, Alex improvised and made sure that we still enjoyed ourselves. I would have to completely thank Alex, otherwise the day would have been a complete disappointment and bust.
Our guide Rueben was the best, after the day we had learnt so much about the history of Capetown and Robben Island. He was patient with us, he was very professional, very attentive l can say at the end we made a friend in him. We cant wait to come back and use his services and also to recommend to family and friends. Thank you Rueben, we really appreciate.
We enjoyed so much this trip! And it was thanks to our tour guide Ruben. He was so kind, courteous and knowleadgeable of the history of South Africa and the Table Mountain. He has answered all our questions and we laughed a lot. I find it so important to have a good tour guide to really enjoy the trip, and Ruben was definitely the best tour guide we could have asked for this day. Everything was just amazin, thank you Ruben!
Took my family of 4 (two adults and two children (8 and 17) and had a great time. Marshall was our driver and Was really great with our son . We toured the city and was dropped off at the ferry to Robben island. Very educational.. our tour guide was an ex prisoner there. We were really exhausted so we asked not to visit Table island. We went another day. But I would highly recommend Marshall for families
The Robben Island tour was a painful reminder of how hard this freedom was achieved. I think it is one such tour that all people should have in their lifetime. Only if our political leaders could also go and be reminded what the struggle for liberation was all about, this country would be far better by now.
A great experience it was and would recommend people to visit the Island. The tour guides are well informed.
The experience were wonderful and the tour were perfect. The tour guide David were very friendly, in time and with a big knowledge of Cape Town history. He provided us a fantastic day. The tour in Robben island were fantastic also. From Ally and Sadia Mussagy
Unfortunately due to weather we were not able to visit Robben Island which constituted the bulk of the tour, but our tour guide, Alfani immediately suggested an alternate tour. We really appreciated his ability to quickly "pivot". The tour turned into a beautiful Peninsula Tour which was spectacular! Alfani was so knowledgeable, pleasant, and well spoken. I would highly recommend this tour operator because they made what could have been a very disappointing day into a beautiful and awe inspiring experience. Before the day ended, we saw African Penguins, Wild Ostriches, unparalleled natural beauty in Cape Town , and the majestic grandeur of the southern tip of South Africa. I have no regrets and would book them again in a heartbeat.
