Private Surf Lessons Muizenberg, Cape Town

This was a really great lesson for an absolute beginner like me. My lesson was with a woman I believe by name of Nera and she was very patient and encouraging. She showed me the basic techniques I needed. It was great to have a private lesson because as someone who knows nothing about surfing, I tried one group lesson before and it did not go well and I got left behind because everyone had more experience even though the lesson had said for beginners. If you’re a beginner a private lesson is a must so you can at least get the basics down. But while she showed me the basic techniques on the beach she didn’t take too much time on the beach and we were in the water soon after practicing them. I felt safe with her as she guided me through each step. A tip for beginners is to do the morning session at 10a rather than the later option because the morning is when the waves were lightest. Towards the end of my session at around 11:30a the waves had really picked up and more surfers started to show up making surfing more difficult for a beginner. Luckily by then the session was pretty much over. Also note that you will probably be really sore after from using all of your muscles but it is a great workout and a fun experience. Learning to surf has been on my bucket list and I’m glad I got to do a private surf lesson because it being private made all the difference for me compared to when I tried to do a group one before. The showers are basic and you need to bring your own towel and products but they provide you with a wet suit.

Outstanding experience with instructor Jordan. I was impressed from the start when Jordan took me through a warm up routine before the start of the session. As a fitness enthusiast I know the importance of a good warm up. Jordan was very good at explaining the actions I need to do as a beginner and supporting me in the water. I was surprised to catch so many waves on the day as a novice. The guys at the shop very friendly and welcoming. The setup was great with changing and warm shower facilities. They had a system to store valuables and lockers for bags. The surfing suits were in great condition.

We had a wonderful lesson with Luka. He was very infinitive and was able to help us both learn the basics of surfing. It was a blast. The facility had a nice shower area and was well organized

I booked the session for my granddaughter, 9 and myself. What an amazing experience. Both coaches were very patient and professional. So much attention to detail! We loved it so much that we have booked 4 more sessions! Highly recommend!

Messed up the date and time and they were very accommodating. Great lesson, good length, instructor was really accommodating of what I was able to do and got me up on the board!

My instructor was very kind, and patient, his name was Jake. Really cool guy, taught me all he could with the time we had. I would def recommend this activity, and do it again in the future.

I did 16 surf lessons starting from ABC level (=zero skill). The surf school is very friendly and most helpful. My main coach was Janus -> I just loved his coaching style: very thorough, paying attention to all small technical details, at the same time telling small stories about surfing, Muizenberg surf community, marine life and joking a lot. The lessons were super educational (in terms of surfing skills), but also just pure pleasure. Highly recommended place and coaches!

Reggie was our surfing instructor, he was so good and attentive. Anyone can learn from this, even with zero surfing experience.

Surf Emporium organises excellent surfing holiday camps for kids. Our 8 and 6 year olds were nervous at first but the team of coaches was absolutely superb and within minutes of meeting them, the children were all smiles. Special thanks to Zoe, Jack and Kyle for being attentive, professional and fun. This was the perfect introduction to surfing. We recommend it highly! The kids say: "Merry Christmas guys!"

I booked a private surf lesson for my husband for today. Our family stopped at Muizenberg Beach in the afternoon of our Cape Peninsula day long excursion. My husband enjoyed his lesson with Cameron. My husband knows the basics but was happy to get great tips from Cameron who was enthusiastic and supportive. And the surf break at Muizenberg was awesome with great surf conditions at the beach. Surf Emporium's staff and booking process was professional and well organized. My queries were answered promptly and clearly. Their shop is clean and the equipment was perfect. The shop is centrally located. We could not have been happier with the experience.

Awesome experience! Jordan was spectacular and got both of up and standing in the first 15 minutes! We went in the middle of June but the water was perfect for beginners!

It was a great experiance. My coach was very nice and supportive even though I sucked at surfing it was nice to have that support. Would reccomend for anyone from any age. You wont regret it.

Very friendly team, great equipment, cheap, generous with advice. Well located in the main hub opposite Muizenberg beach. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering us great advice on equipment and technique.

I'm partially blind, I'm nearly 60, and I've never surfed in my life. Until now. Yes, I was nervous. But these guys could not have been more helpful, positive, and excited for me. Two superb instructors who matched my CAN DO approach and then took me to a whole new level. I cannot praise them highly enough for the time, patience, and intuitive attention to the tiniest detail, all of which helped me achieve something I wasn't at all sure I could do. Thank you Roxy's, and most especially my two instructors, for the BEST experience. I want a week here with you guys...a month....several months.

We had a paddle boarding lesson. Was an amazing experience. We were welcomed and given a wet suit to put on over our costumes, also a bright tshirt so we wouldn't get lost. Started on the beach on how to stand and use the paddle etc. We then went into the sea and first went on our knees and had a go at paddling in that position. Later we stood up - not easy as I am quite light so I literally shot off a few times. Lots of laughs.

The surfing lesson for my teenage nephew was amazing. The surfing instructor was so encouraging and guided him very well. He was able to 'surf' and stood on the board and rode the waves a good few times and it was his first lesson. It was a beautiful day. Happy, professional Surf Emporium was excellent and I'd highly recommend it, come rain or shine, winter or summer.

The team were super flexible and let me change the time of my booking at the last minute. Liam was great - super encouraging! I managed to stand up a few times so I'm calling it a success!

We had a great time surfing - it was my second time and my sister’s first time. I was able to wear my own wetsuit, but wetsuits, boards, etc. were provided. The surfing coach was super knowledgeable and patient, and went through everything step by step. Would definitely do this again!
