We had a fantastic day with Mike. He was very informative, thoughtful and kind. He went well over the required time and kept it interesting throughout.

After waiting for 45 minutes and trying to contact the tour operator many times by txt and phone, we learned that the tour operator mistakingly had the wrong day for the tour and no other guide was available. We had to pay our hotel $360. for the same tour. This was $146. more than the very same tour we had already booked and paid for. I expect a full Viator refund as well as a $146. credit toward future bookings for the excess difference we had to pay. My wife and I are very devoted and loyal Viator clients with over 100 tour bookings since we began nearly full time international travel in January 2022. Please reply with your approval of this credit and any other compensation you believe is due for our inconvenience.

We had a wonderful day exploring the Cape Peninsula & Kirstenbosch. Our guide Mike was extremely knowledgable & took us to some great places varying the tour to suit our needs. He was more than willing to go the extra mile to make it special for us & we could not have enjoyed the day more, thanks.

We loved this full day tour. We had Mike as our guide and he even turned up with chocolates in hand in a very clean and comfortable car. He was a very knowledgeable tour guide, easy to understand and super friendly and accommodating to our needs. We didn't feel rushed at all. Mike's recommendations were also great and we enjoyed a lovely meal in Simon's Town. Would highly recommend this tour company and especially Mike as your tour guide.

Mike’s personal narration drawing on his in-depth local knowledge of the beautiful country was a real bonus. He went out of his way to make sure we got the most out of our day in spite of the unpredictable weather. The scenery was stunning and Mike gave us plenty of time during all our stops to make the most of it.

This was a wonderful private tour of the Cape. We had a car to ourselves and we’re able to adapt the plans for the day together with our guide. A great day to witness breathtaking views, nature and local restaurants. Again, we were only women together and felt very safe!

Chris took us on a wonderful all day trip around the Cape Peninsular. Starting in Hout Bay with a boat trip to see seals, to the Peninsular to see baboons, beautiful flowers and stunning views. Then on to watch fishermen returning from fishing to a wonderful lunch and a view of a movie set and the cannon above Simonstown. A wonderful day with a great guide!

We had a fantastic day with Dave and Ian on this tour. The scenery was spectacular. Ian was very knowledgeable and gave us a brief history on each of the places we visited. A big thank you to Dave and Ian for arranging a visit for us to the Franschhoek Motor Museum the next day. The next day we did the Winelands tour with Mike. He had to do the tour in reverse due to certain events which were happening that day. We started the day at Babylonstoren which I had requested to visit then Mike took us to the motor museum. We then had a wonderful day visiting different wineries with beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed both these tours and would highly recommend booking with Born In Africa Tours to everyone.

We had an amazing experience with BornInAfricaTours. We felt really comfortable and safe in all our tours with them. They use really nice cars which were always clean and in a great condition. All the guides we had were really knowledgeable and nice. They each have their own style which worked great as we had different experiences with, and heard different stories from each of them. They were all on time when picking us up and very reliable overall. We did the Cape Peninsula, Winelands and Whale Watching tours with Lynn. She’s an amazing guide. She was very polite and knowledgeable. We were taken for a treat on the Winelands tours as we opted for more unique and ‘off the beaten path’ wineries. She was very knowledgeable and made some excellent choices, taking into consideration our preferences. Same goes with the peninsula tour which we could cater to our preferences and itinerary which worked great! Next we had Chris for our City Tour and West Coast tour. He’s a historian and talked us through lots of history about Cape Town and surrounding areas. We even got to experience some fresh and local bites in Bo Kaap. Finally we had Mike for our last day, which we made into a Winelands tour across Constantia (our choice), which was a bit different, yet fascinating. He’s from Cape Town and so he knows lots of great stories about the city and surrounding areas. He also provided us with water and chocolate which were very nice touches for a wine day. All in all, I highly recommend BornInAfricaTours if you’re spending a couple of days or a week on Cape Town!

Our party of 6 adults had a great day with our guide, Mike. He modified the tour to account for a rainy start (cool coffee bar!) and by the end of the day we missed not a thing. Ostrich farm, penguins, Cape Point, vineyards, magnificent vistas, great lunch. As a local Mike was able to share area history and personal experiences from Cape Town. The day is long so be prepared, but hard to imagine a better way to pack in so much.

Mike took great care of us on our tour. He has excellent driving skills, is very knowledgeable, customized the tour for what we wanted, and went out of his way to make us happy.

We had a perfect day with tour guide Mike. He showed throughout the day that his only goals were to keep us safe and make us happy. He arrived on time, drove well, seemed to know everything about everything, showed us beautiful places, and didn’t rush us at all. I wouldn’t hesitate to book any tour with him in the future.

This tour was one of my favorite parts of my week in South Africa. Mike was our tour guide, and he was AMAZING! He is a native South African and an official tour guide who knows his stuff. All day he kept us entertained and taught us things as we drove up and down the peninsula. The private tour was intimate and comfortable, and Mike was able to customize the experience to fit our needs and desires in a way that one of the larger tours could not. And he was a great photographer for us as well. Mike and others at the company communicated well before the trip, and Mike was punctual, accommodating, a safe driver, and everything else you would hope for in a driver. I cannot recommend this company and Mike specifically any more highly.

Michael Klerck was an excellent guide. We started the day with coffee at a funky shop in Cape Town, and Mike drove us through town, pointing out a large number of landmarks on the way. Leaving the downtown area, we made our way down the cape peninsula, spending as much time at each stop as we wanted. The scenery was stunning, and Mike gladly agreed to tell us (fun, entertaining) stories from his time growing up around Cape Town. He even added a bonus boat ride to a fantastic enourmous seal colony in Hout Bay. The van was spacious and the a/c worked great. Would highly recommend Mike to anyone looking to experience the cape peninsula!

We experienced this tour as a group of two, celebrating our honeymoon! Mike picked us up on time in a luxury vehicle (Jaguar). Our trip started with a stop at Truth coffee in downtown Cape Town since we needed a little wake up. Next, the itinerary offered was mostly followed but we also had some extra stops such as an ostrich farm and an ice cream shop in a small town near our final destination. The weather was lovely. The lunch food was great! Mike was very knowledgeable of everything Cape Town. He had numerous stories and was able to answer all of our questions. Mike took great photos of us when we asked. He drove safely the entire time and also kept our belongings safe when we left the car. Favorite part of the tour was the penguins since it was so unique.

This is a great private tour. David the owner was very knowledgable, took us and informed about all the best spots in and around Capetown. It was a great way to see the highlights in one day. Highly recommend.

This was just a fantastic day out! Dave, our Tour Guide arrived promptly to collect us from our hotel and in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the entire area he was also brilliant company for the day. We visited Cape Point and The Penguin Colony at Boulders Bay and Dave had booked us lunch at a lovely restaurant at Simonstown and gave us as much time as we wanted for lunch, nothing was rushed. To see these incredible sights in a luxury car with a thoroughly decent and knowledgeable Guide gave us a superb experience and one that we will remember for a long time. We really can't recommend Dave and his Company, Born in South Africa highly enough.

Our tour with Born in Africa Tours was great. Our guide Chris Taylor picked us up on time from our hotel and we went off on a interesting and beautiful tour. We saw the penguins at Boulder Beach first and stayed as long as we wanted. No pressure to leave, Although I could have stayed there for hours! We then drove down to Cape Point and saw the Cape of Good Hope and the lighthouse at the Point. Chris was full of interesting details and made our visit thoroughly enjoyable! There were many baboons all over the place! We continued on to the Groot Constantia winery where we enjoyed a great lunch and wine tasting. Thanks Chris for a really great time !

Mikey the tour guide was really nice. He was very friendly with my kids buying them chocolates and sweets. He was also very professional, he changed the tour to adjust to traffic and busy times At Cape of Good Hope. We enjoyed the tour a lot.

This was the first of three tours I have booked with Born in Africa, and what a great tour it was! Mike was my guide for the tour, and was a brilliant guide all day! Great company, and very knowledgeable about the local history and wildlife. Also very flexible and more than happy to stay longer at places, and make suggestions for other places he thought I might enjoy. One of those suggestions was a boat trip to see the seals off the coast of Hout Bay which was definitely one of the (many!) highlights of the day! Another was to stop for a visit at beautiful Scarborough beach. Totally enjoyed Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope and Boulder Beach/Penguins. Three unique and impressive locations. Mike was also totally happy to wait while I went for a swim there! A bit chilly for the first minute, but so worth it! We finished with a delicious fish lunch in Saveur Restaurant in Simonstown. (I chose to eat lunch quite late at the end of the tour but you can eat earlier of course). A fantastic day with a great guide - thoroughly recommend if you want to get a full experience of the Peninsula in one day!

Mike really showed the peninsula from a local's eye. He guided us along the coast and brought us to attractions that he thought that we would like by getting to know us. The lighthouse, the penguins, morning coffee, Cape of Good Hope... I could go on. He knew all of the history and really made it an enjoyable day.

Chris Taylor from Dave's Born in Africa outfit was incredibly well versed in history, botany and fauna of the Cape; also has a significant background in other Southern African countries and can bring a global perspective to what you are seeing. My wife and I felt in very safe hands, took in magnificent scenery, and Chris navigated us to an encounter with some of the amazing animals in Cape of Good Hope park and surrounds - Bontebok, ostriches, babboons, eland antelopes, seals, and of course the penguins!

Hats off to Mike our tour guide for the Peninsula Tour. He shared lots of great information, made sure we had plenty of time to see everything on our full day tour. Highly recommend !!

Chris met us at our hotel right on time and brought us to all the sights listed, regaling us with local history of many of the places as a long time resident and historian. He pointed out special sights, told us about local customs that we were curious about, was extremely pleasant to spend the day with and also accommodating to our interests. He knew where to go, what to avoid, and provided tips to help enjoy it all. Thanks Chris for a lovely day!

We booked after reading all the wonderful reviews of Dave, the tour guide. And the tour description said that we would be picked up in a “luxury vehicle”. This vehicle never achieved a comfortable temperature, and we had to have the fan on high all day, so we had a hard time hearing. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, but didn’t want to stick with the planned itinerary. When you travel halfway around the world and set aside a day of your life to have a nice tour (not too mention the expense!), it’s very disappointing to have things not work out....

What a day we had with the one and only Mike. He was very knowledgeable and made sure we enjoy every minute. We event built our customized itinerary and had no problems. I strongly recommend it for people visiting Cape town for the 1st time and prefer private tour.

What can I say, we (3 friends) had an incredible day on the road with Dave, and of course the Jag :) It was our first visit to Cape Town and we were able to fit in so much in the day, a truly eye opening view of the Cape and the unbelievably beautiful scenery of the region. Dave was excellent company and was able to give us detailed information and add a personal touch to all the locations. We’d requested to move the itinerary around to get to Kirstenbosch Gardens and Dave was very accommodating to be able to make that happen, and was even able to use his excellent negotiation skills to secure us a tour of the gardens with a botanist, after closing time! I can’t recommend this tour enough, thank you Dave!

Dave arrived early during our day trip, waiting for us patiently as we had our breakfast. He was very friendly and warm when we first met. Upon hearing that my wife had an ear infection and that we needed medical attention, Dave brought us to a friendly doctor and the pharmacy, despite having to turn the itinerary around. Appreciate his thoughtfulness and seeing to our needs first. What we really like was also the lunch place that he booked for us which served really good fish and prawns. Dave is also a knowledgeable guide who also shared generously about his life experiences. Many thanks to Dave for a great day around Cape Town.

Our first day was a tour guided by the wonderful Dave! He was most insightful and entirely accommodating to what we wanted to see and what we would like to do during the tour. I would recommend him to anyone going to Cape Town! He even had some suggestions for us to do during our stay. We were very happy with our tour seeing the twelve apostles, seal island, boulders beach with exceptional ice cream, and a delightful lunch at the harbour! The highlight of the tour for us was cape point and seeing the southern most point of Africa! Dave was most patient with our incessant photo taking 😄! Thank you Dave for a wonderful day!!

Dave picked us up from our hotel and was very friendly. The day tour was great and it was good that Dave picked us up early so we didn’t have to queue all day. We drove down the coast to the cape pensinsula. We got the fenicula up to the light house, be warned there are approx 150 steps still to get. We drove to cape of good hop and saw lots of wildlife!We went on to Simons Town for lunch at a place Dave recommended. This was excellent!!Our final stop was boulders beach and the penguins.The great thing about this tour is that it is personal, therefore you can tailor it. We did by popping into hard rock in Camps Bay.Highly recommend this tour and Dave! Thank you for being part of our Honeymoon.

Dave, our guide, was a pleasant surprise to find!! He is so personable and knowledgeable about the area! And he is a joy to spend the day with!! You must request him!! Dave picked us up at the hotel and began our trip down the coastal route of the peninsula. He stopped at personalized places based upon our conversation, like a little biltong store (which we bought one-of-everything in!!) and a beautiful private beach! We found wild ostrich, took pictures with seals, and were serenaded by a local festival group! We had a beautiful lunch in a seaside marina, and visited with penguins and their babies! —with ice cream to finish!! Young children would enjoy this trip, as will the old! It was a delightful way to get oriented to the area with a delightful host! Dave will be first on my list when we return!!

Dave was incredible he asked what we wanted to accomplish in the time we had and after a full day he left us wanting not only to spend more time with him but a longing to do it all over again you will feel like your saying goodbye to family at the end of the day

<p>This tour is a 'must do' while in Cape Town as the Cape scenery is stunning. The advantage of doing a private tour is that you can tailor it to suit your personal preferences. Dave was a very good and informative guide - and importantly allowed us to linger in the places we loved such as Cape Point and Boulder's Beach. The lunch at Simon's Town was also delicious. It's a lot to do in a day so get an early start to make the most of it!</p>

A Top Class Private Guided Trip with David Coxford, from the beginning to the very end, punctuated by a delicious lunch! This tour delivered exactly what we wanted and more, collected at our hotel we were whisked away to a journey which included Clifton and Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak Drive, Misty Cliffs, Cape Point, Simons Town and the Penguin colony. David's knowledge and experience of the local area was second to none and it was a delight listening to a man with so much passion and enthusiasm for his chosen occupation.
