Our family of 4 did a private tour with Danson. We had the best time on this full day tour. Danson is an amazing guide! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and responsible, but also very accommodating to tailor the tour to our pace and preferences. He goes out of his way to make sure we get the perfect photos. He is also very funny and personable, making the tour very fun and enjoyable. Danson made a quick decision to swap the sequence of Cape point and Boulders beach in our itinerary when he noticed the crowds. It was a very smart decision and you can tell that he is a very experienced guide. He is also very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had so clearly. His strong sense of responsibility is seen in how he makes sure we are well taken care of throughout the tour. Our tour was made so much more enjoyable because of our amazing guide. Danson, thank you so much for the memories! We want to wish you and your daughter a blessed life, full of love and happiness! I also want to commend Junior who corresponded with me via email. She has the patience of a saint and is extremely professional. I had sooo many questions and she patiently replied to all my queries very clearly and professionally. Never once making me feel like my queries were not welcomed. Overall I would highly highly recommend Cape archives. And definitely request for Danson. He will make sure your tour runs seamlessly and that you enjoy yourself to the fullest.

Maned with rough waters, a rugged coastline, abundant wildlife and a long history of carnage as well as life changing achievements. The Cape of Good Hope is a huge tourist attraction. Albeit being only most south western point of Africa, the Cape of good hope was famed by early time sailors as the corner of Africa because of its excellent navigational assistance as a landmark. It was from here that sailors would note that their voyages had began to take a turn for east as they were sailing from west to the far east. You will have an opportunity to take an optional hike up to the summit of the Cape of good hope as well as take a photo with probably the most famous sign in the country. The sign reads "Welcome to the cape of good hope!" and is also inscribed with The cape of good hope's coordinates.
From Cape of good hope the tour will proceed to Cape point and where a paved alley from Cape point car park takes you just over 300m to the 3rd oldest lighthouse in the country which makes for great views and photography. Launched in 1860, the Cape point lighthouse was however decommissioned in 1919 as new evidence proved that sailors couldn't see it in cloudy conditions so a new light house at a lower elevation was constructed. A funicular is available at own expense should you not be in the mood to walk.
Boulders beach is one of Africa's only three mainland penguin colonies. Driving past without visiting this famous penguin colony is treason! Here you will walk on the boardwalk and see the endangered African penguin from a very close range.
Simons's town was named after a cape Dutch governor of the 17th century who found this town as a lee-shore in winter. The Victorian built town is home to some of the freshest seafood and fish restaurants in Cape town. This is also the same town that the South African Navy calls home.
Kalk bay was voted one of the 12 coolest places in the world to live in! This is South Africa's oldes holiday resort and is also attains a Eurocentric outlook. Some of the best restaurants in Cape town are here. Art galleries, cafes, cuban cigar bars and small shops also dominates the main street. Please Note that the stop at Muizenberg beach is subject to time and normal traffic flow.

We had a fantastic day exploring the Cape Peninsula with Danny our guide for the day. Danny has encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Cape Town and beyond. Danny did everything possible to ensure that our day was truly special, tailoring everything to our specific tastes and preferences, he went out of his way to show us as much wildlife as possible which we absolutely loved. We saw cape fur seals, African penguins, ostrich, Eland, bontebuck and Red hartebeest. The day definitely exceeded our expectations and I cannot recommend the experience highly enough.
This was one of the best experiences! The guide Candy and driver Litha were amazing, knowledgeable, welcoming, efficient but also gave us amazing free time to explore. Truly a perfect day and tour!
Wonderful trip, great guide Joseph, lots of great stops and animal encounters and beautiful sights amazing day
We were fortunate to have Jean and to take a private tour. No waiting and waiting for others to get that perfectly posed Pic. He was punctual, humerous, and informative. Added bonus was 2 male Puff Adders along the road vying for a female [according to Google]
This was a wonderful private tour . Lots to see and experience and included lunch . Great sites to visit and experience
If you want a well organised, highly enjoyable private tour of the Cape Peninsula area, then look no further. Cape Archive are the best out there. When planning our trip to Cape Town we wanted to book a private day tour for 2 people. There are plenty online, but when we contacted them, no response. How can you risk sending money to people who wont respond to emails? When I contacted Cape Archive, I got a quick response with a clear outline of what they could offer. They answered all my queries and sent a detailed quote, identifying all costs. All very professional and reassuring throughout. They contacted us again the day before the tour to confirm all the details. The tour itself was exceptional. Our guide picked us up from the hotel and drove us in a very comfortable car. She was friendly, knowledgeable, had a great sense of humour and was flexible, adjusting the itinerary to meet our needs. You could not ask for more. We had a great day thanks to Cape Archive and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
With only a 2 day stop on a world cruise we needed to choose our tour wisely. After reading the reviews we knew this was the one for us.And yes it lived up to all expectations. It can be quite difficult finding a tour that caters for a wheelchair user but our tour guide put in 110%.We learnt so much about South Africa of old and present, and stopped at the most amazing places. A huge thanks for a great day
We paid approximately $322 for our 2 person private day tour. We booked with this company because the other (very well rated) company we had booked with first was not responding to our inquiries. Any time I sent a message to this company (in particular, Junior) they responded to me in less than 24-hours with clear information. So I cancelled the other company and booked with these guys and very glad I did so. They messaged me on WhatsApp and email and I knew things were arranged. When we arrived at the cruise port, our driver was waiting for us in a large, excellent condition mini-van where we had TONS of room to spread out and be comfortable. We left bright and early and proceeded on our approximately 9-hour full day, inclusive of sit down lunch overlooking the ocean. Our guide was incredibly friendly and not only gave us great historical and cultural information but also opened doors for us and asked for our input on things, so this really felt very private and luxurious. You will need some local currency unless you buy the "park pass all inclusive" version of this tour (we did not).....although you won't need as much physical currency as the tour description implies because some of the sites REQUIRE you to pay with credit card.....so I ended up having more currency than needed. Other than that small minor communication issue, this tour was AMAZING and very convenient for people returning or starting a cruise because they picked us up right at the port and then dropped us right at the airport at the end of the day (with our bags safely and securely stored in the vehicle). The sites were excellent and the nice thing of private is you can go as quick/ slow as you particular interest is. The lunch was at a tourist style restaurant overlooking the ocean with tablecloth seating and table service.....food quality was high, alcohol cost extra, and the service was a little slow but no harm. Overall, we would definitely do this again and recommend to all.
Private tour is the best for this tour as there are many things to see and you can choose which ones you want to stay longer at and which ones you would like to stay shorter at without worrying about what other people want to do which might not align with your choices.
We enjoyed an action-packed day touring the Cape of Good Hope and the surrounding areas. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed to help us see as much as possible in a short period of time. Our guide, Xochitle, was highly knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. If you are short on time in Cape Town or a first-time visitor looking to get a lay of the land, this is a great option. We did get a case of food poisoning from the lunch restaurant (I see from other reviews that other travelers shared a similar experience), proceed with caution when eating lunch.
Danson was an excellent guide; both engaging and thoroughly knowledgeable. Conversational both about Cape Town and South Africa in general, but also the Cape of Good Hope, the history, and even the penguins (being a major in Marine Biology he was able to give detailed explanations rather than 'basic' knowledge). This told when we constantly had other tourists coming and asking him questions which he gratiusly answered. Danson was also kind enough to step away during lunch, even though we were more than happy to sit together and have a chat, and he managed the balance between talk, knowledge, and quiet amazingly well throughout a busy, but wonderful day. Would love to return and would happily do it all again.
This is the #1 tourist activity to do in the Cape, and this tailored day-trip, in private luxury and safety, is the definitive way to do it. Book with Jean at Cape Archives Tours and you don’t just get the trip, you get VIP treatment and the benefit of Jean’s encyclopaedic knowledge of local sights, wildlife, history, sociology, geology, flora, fauna and food. You’ll experience the wonders of the Cape’s natural beauty, and you’ll definitely have close encounters with the penguins; most likely ostriches, and potentially zebras, baboons, seals, and other native Cape animals too. You’ll stand at the most southwesterly tip of Africa in the legendary Cape of Good Hope, along with a vast array of other photographic opportunities along the way. Don’t forget your camera. More importantly, if you choose this comprehensive, valuable tour you’ll never forget the day.

I booked this trip as part of our once in a lifetime honeymoon. The trip started late with the driver claiming traffic was bad. We then had to change the route. This was disappointing but we were still excited for our day. At lunchtime, we arrived at a restaurant who were not expecting us. After several phone calls from our guide to the restaurant we were provided with the menu (as shown on the website). We ordered food and were looking forward to our meal. After lunch we began the long drive to Cape Point. We were able to see the lighthouse and cape of good hope but both began feeling extremely unwell. I was extremely dizzy, nauseous and felt horrendously ill. The only food my husband and I had eaten the same was from this restaurant and we had not eaten anything else that day. As the day progressed, both of us began to feel extremely ill. Due to how extremely unwell we were we had to miss out on seeing six stop points and five drive by locations. We then were stuck in bed for three days with extreme sickness and diarrhoea every ten minutes. When we spoke to the tour operator they claimed we had seen the main points and gave us a £28 refund- £14 per meal. Having looked on the website for the restaurant there is no three course meal that costs as little at £14. This refund felt insulting considering how ill we were and how our entire trip to Cape Town and our honeymoon had been ruined. We were so disappointed to miss out on so many key stops such as Muizenberg Beach, Camps bay and Bo-kaap. It was even more disappointed to be told we had done the main points- the points we had to pay additional money for. It was even more frustrating that we would have seen these points if the route hadn’t been changed and the driver late. We were then told that we could only receive a refund if we pay to visit a hospital. This would have cost us more in travel insurance expenses than the cost of the trip. We highly regret booking this trip and advise EVERYONE to AVOID IT.
This private tour is THE way to experience all that is Capetown and the surrounding areas. From the beautiful terrain to the gorgeous sea landscape and wildlife, this tour is excellent. Barnabas served as our tour guide and did an exceptional job providing commentary throughout the day. He was the most professional and fun tour guide.
My husband and I took this tour in early December and loved every minute - you really do get to see so much in one day. Avril was a wonderful guide for us - friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. She took us to a lovely restaurant for lunch that we maybe wouldn't have found otherwise and told us stories/information whilst on the way to our next destination. We didn't feel rushed anywhere - it was tough getting Bo Kaap in right at the end due to traffic on the day but she went out of her way to take us. Couldn't recommend enough. You get what you pay for and this is a quality private tour. Thank you Avril!
Although the weather was not the greatest (cold and rainy) we had a FANTASTIC experience. Max, our guide, was so kind, pleasant and had such a positive outlook- just oove him! Due to issues with the National Parks website, I would recommend NOT paying for the tickets to Boulder’s Beach & Cape of Good Hope. There truly is no benefit to booking this in advance- our tickets were never uploaded and we had to pay twice for the tickets (no fault of the tour operator).
Amazing tour with a wonderful guide. You get to see all the major attractions around Cape Town. Our kids loved the tour and would highly recommend.
We had an amazing experience with this private tour and highly recommend it! There are many options for the penguin tour, but most involve large buses, meaning you have to wait for other passengers during bathroom breaks, photos, etc. With this private tour, we could fully customize our itinerary based on our preferences, which made the day so much more enjoyable. A wonderful surprise was being upgraded from a standard sedan to a brand-new BMW—such a great send-off! One of my personal must-do’s was trying different fish and chips, so we stopped at Fish on the Rocks (yes, for breakfast!). We then continued to Noordhoek Farm Village, where we enjoyed delicious meat pies and coffee at a charming deli. Our driver, Xochitle, was absolutely fantastic—friendly, courteous, and always smiling. She not only took amazing pictures and videos of us but also suggested great stops along the route. One highlight was visiting a small, lesser-known penguin beach before heading to the main one, which gave us an up-close experience with the penguins. Another perk was receiving a link before the tour to pre-purchase our park passes, allowing us to skip the long entrance lines. Fish Hoek Beach was a lovely stop—we relaxed there for an hour and enjoyed some bunny chow. We also visited the vibrant, colorful houses at Muizenberg Beach before ending the day with an authentic braai at Ahmed’s Tikki House in the beautiful Bo-Kaap neighborhood. It was our favorite day in Cape Town, and Xochitle made it even more special. If you're looking for a personalized, hassle-free experience, this private tour is the way to go!
We had a wonderful day with Kelvin travelling around the Cape Peninsula. Kelvin was so knowledgeable about the region and was happy to answer all our questions about living in South Africa. He was keen to ensure we saw everything we wanted to and added extra stops in when we decided there were places we didn’t want to go. The car was very comfortable and clean. Thoroughly recommend
A fantastic route with great places to see You shouldn't miss a single location on this trip A visit to the island with the seals is a must. Kelvin was a excellent driver and a good tour guide but he did not make the small changes we suggested to the route even though we agreed with the tour operator not to visit Bo Kaap and just walk to two specific beaches on our route instead
Very knowledgeable & capable of noting points of interest & historical context that could have easily been left out. Happily modified the days itinerary to suit our interest.
Great day and Avril was a great guide. We visited the cape of good hope, Cape point and boulder beach to see the penguins with many photo stops along the way.
We enjoyed a full day private tour to the Cape of Good Hope, with the penguins at Boulder Beach and the boat trip to Seals Island. Our guide Danson was extremely competent and always flexibel to our wishes - it was very informative and entertaining - definitely a highlight of our South Africa trip.
This private tour was perfect for us at the end of our cruise before our 10 pm flight out. The staff at Cape Archives Tours was responsive and so very kind and considerate. Our guide, Kelvin was so knowledgeable about the history and so very entertaining at the same time. He was very flexible based on our timeline for pick up location, our itinerary during the day to the colorful Bo Kaap, Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach Penguin Colony given our time constraints. He was quite the photographer for us as well. The BMW was luxurious, cool A/C, clean and very comfortable for us and my DH is 6'8" or 2 meters 2! We would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a full day tour of Cape Town and points beyond with Cape Archives Tours!
Awesome day with Candy and Penashe. Saw amazing sites and were able to modify based on what we wanted to do. Our luggage got lost so were able to stop at a mall to get some clothes.
We cannot imagine a more beautiful place in the world! Danson was an amazing tour guide - and we learned so much about this amazing country! The views were spectacular and our tour guides attention to our interests was unparalleled!
4 of us had a private tour today with Natasha and she couldn't of been more accommodating. Although the weather wasn't the best and we didn't go up table mounting we were issued with 4 tickets to use in the next 4 days. Very pleased, thankyou
Picked up on time from Victoria & Alfred Hotel. Dropped in at Bo Kap, then headed south, stopping for a perfect coffee and to meet some Ostrich’s en-route to the Cape of Good Hope. Then on to Cape Point lighthouse, the view from the top was spectacular ! Lunch and views from restaurant also great. Back via Boulders Beach, where we witnessed Penguins sun-bathing ! Kevin, our driver/host was brilliant, a really nice guy with encyclopaedic knowledge of South African history, which made it an awesome experience for us. Highly recommended !!
Full day of pleasure and incredible vistas, history and moments. Jossi our driver was fabulous. So helpful and informative. We tailored the tour to spend more time where we liked en route and the Penguins will forever be a wonderful memory. Wear trainers for the hike up to the lighthouse. Bring a portable battery charger as you will take endless videos! And buy your tickets in advance as requested to fast track at Boulders Beach.
I loved the tour because it gave us a very good experience of Cape Town that is a very beautiful city and Kevin was excellent. very nice and professional and very patient
My guide met me in the lobby on time at my hotel. He introduced himself (he had standard nametag), showed me to the car we'd be in for the day (a nice Mercedes mid-size sport sedan), and asked if there were particular things I was interested in, what I would want to photograph, etc. My guide was very engaged, and tailored the experience to my preferences and pace. As I was traveling solo, he was happy to come along with me to exhibits, tell me more about what he knew, history and facts (but not too much to bore me), and answered my questions. I would definitely do this tour again and with this guide.
We had a really great day on this trip. Our Driver Danson was really knowledgeable and took some really great photos of us. Would definitely recommend it.
An amazing day spent touring the Cape of Good Hope with our private guide who filled our day with beautiful sights, lots of history and information, and memories for a lifetime. Highlights included time with penguins on the shore, hiking on top of the Cape of Good Hope, driving alongside a troop of baboons, a fantastic lunch along the water, stopping for a puff adder snake crossing the road, and lots of South African history shared from his first hand experience. One of the best excursions ever.
Another fabulous trip with Kelvin- he is just the best. He took such good care of us at all times. It certainly was a very memorable trip.
Calvin was a fantastic guide. I had a short amount of time available and I would give my express tour an A+. They worked with me to taylor an express tour. We did all the things that were important to me and saw LOTS of animals. Highly recommend.
Danson was an excellent tour guide. He gave us the history of South Africa while showing us the most popular highlights of Cape Town. Lunch was at a really good seafood restaurant overlooking the harbor. I would definitely recommend this tour!
What a perfect day and a fabulous tour. I highly recommend. Natasha was our guide and Kiaam was our driver. They took us to so many different sites and we learned all about the history of the area. They were personable and knowledgeable as well as adaptable.
Josie was our guide and she was fabulous! She gave us so much information about the places we visited. It gave us a fantastic overview of beautiful locations from capetown down the coast ending up at Boulders bay with the penguins. We did everything we wanted to do and Josie tailored the trip to our needs. Fantastic day
We had a great trip with Danson. He was very personable and knowledgeable. He adjusted our trip for needs and the weather also we saw a great many things including penguins and ostriches on the beach. Great time. Highly recommend
We had a fantastic time every aspect of the tour was excellent. Our guide Xochitle was superb her knowledge and information was brilliant. She educated us so much on flora fauna and history of each area. Also she was very kind and helpful. Could not recommend this tour and guide enough
I was travelling to Cape Town with my colleagues on a work trip. We only had one day to see as much if Cape Town as we could, so we booked a private tour thinking that we would "tick off" as many sights as possible in the time allowed. We were picked up from the hotel by our guide, Xochitle Botma, and had a fantastic and memorable day. We saw all that we wanted to see and more. The itinerary was great, but what really made the day was our lovely guide Xochi. She was professional and friendly and interesting, she really improved out experience. Thank you Xochi! Regarding the tour itself, it was one of the slightly more expensive options we looked at before booking but I would say it was 100% worth it. It really is all day, the itinerary is full of good sites and even the drives are deliberately chosen to be scenic. Would recommend to anybody visiting Cape Town.
Fantastic day spent with Joseph! From the minute we met him, Joseph was so relaxed and easy to get along with, and incredibly knowledgable. We had so many different conversations about South Africa's and Cape Town's history and modern culture, and everything in-between. This tour got in so many areas, but the day went by so quickly at the same time because we were just having good chats. We 100% recommend this tour if you're looking to see all of the Cape and get some great background and history on SA & Cape Town!
We had a great day out on our Cape Peninsula tour. Our guide was very friendly and she was flexible in the timings at each of the attraction points, which we very much appreciated as we were staying in Cape Town for a while and wanted to spend less time around the city and more time in the Cape Point national park. We got to see the Chapman peak, we did a boat tour to the seal island, we got a chance to hike from Cape of Good Hope to the Cape Point lighthouse, we saw some eland and ostrich along the way (amazing to see them next to the ocean compared ot the savanna!), we took our time to get some food and souvenirs at Cape Point, we visited an ostrich farm and Boulders Beach, and our guide showed us a place where we could climb some boulders overselves for extra views. Overall, we felt safe throughout the trip, we were not rushed at any point, and we got to see a lot in one day, would absolutely recommend (we did a minibus group tour some time ago, and it really makes a difference to be able to change the length of stay at attraction points as experience is different every single day).
We booked a private tour and we were lucky enough to have Mabee who took great care of us during the trip. He was extremely knowledgable of everything and also answered all of my questions I had about South Africa. He is extremely intelligent and we learnt so much from him! He is also a great host and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. We would definitely recommend this tour and specifically Mabee! Thank you
The views were incredible during our drive. But the tour felt rushed. We were in most places for only about 15 minutes. The description of the tour is misleading in terms of the recommended duration of stop at each location. Fully recognize that it was a private tour and we could have changed itinerary. We chose not to go to 3 places listed in the itinerary.
We had a fabulous day with Natasha. We saw Antelopes, Zebra, Penguins, Baboons, Ostrich and Seals! The scenery was dramatic and beautiful. We stopped for a lovely lunch and coffee enroute too. The car was comfortable and clean and the guidance excellent. Well worth the money!
We have tried to do a 5 star trip … and done pretty well! However; this day was the real deal …. Josie was the most amazing host for us today. So knowledgeable, articulate and just generally lovely… we had the best day that we could imagine. Seen amazing sights (we were lucky with the weather)… done loads of the bucket list and were really well ‘looked after’ by Josie. Amazing, thanks. Andy and Natasha
