Wonderful experience with Terry and his crew; got to see lots of penguins and seals. Lots of great information about the history and ecology of the bay.

An excellent way to see the penguins, along with many other bird species (cormorants, terns). Kayaking through the kelp forest and the clear waters was a beautiful experience. My guide was very knowledgeable about penguin behavior and conservation. The whole experience was very special, highly recommend seeing the penguins from the water
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Shark Warrior Adventures. Our trip was cancelled last minute due to “strong winds and rain storms,” yet when we arrived that morning, there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky or even the slightest breeze. The weather was absolutely perfect, making the cancellation feel completely unjustified.Bear in mind that they ask a very hefty price and you expect some sort of professionalism. What made things worse was the horrible customer service. When I called to question the decision, the operator was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of offering a reasonable explanation, he spoke to me as if I didn’t know what I was talking about. Also to mention he did not offer any rescheduling, which was both frustrating and unprofessional. Overall, this felt like a total waste of money and, honestly, gave off the impression of being a tourist scam. I would strongly recommend staying away and looking for a more reliable and respectful company. See pictures below for proof of the “ Strong winds and rain storms”
Fantastic time kayaking with Terry and a mixed group of families from various geographies (probably about 20 altogether). All very easy and no faffing about getting on the water. We have two kids, 9 and 11, husband and I each shared a kayak with them. Felt very safe. Was a little concerned about sharks but needn’t have been as you’re mostly paddling over huge walls of seaweed and kayaks are very stable. There are even people snorkelling around you so feels very safe. It’s a decent paddle, especially against the tide, so need to be reasonably fit. But there is a chap who follows at the rear if you’re a bit slow. Saw some penguins on land but not loads as they’re fast reducing in numbers sadly. Terry was very knowledgeable although small criticism is too many of us so hard to hear him on the water. All in all would definitely recommend for a great family excursion.
Lovely to be out on the water with T, he is very knowledgable. The water is not too cold to swim in either.
Cancelled on us the day of. I was so excited for this excursion. I never received a reason why it was cancelled at the last minute.
Great trip - we saw penguins & seal, but our guide was also very knowledgeable and provided background on the penguins and the area
This tour was so fun and special! Felt safe and well guided throughout - adult kids were great at kayaking, husband and I were not, but it did not matter at all! What a great way to see and learn about penguins. Terry was so helpful - even went out of his way to return a forgotten item to us the next day! This is a don’t miss experience.
While we had our tour be canceled by the company due to high winds we can express the professionalism of this company as well as the guide Terry!! He personally contacted us to let us know our tour was cancelled and then he even gave us information and locations to see the penguins and things to do during the day locally near the cancelled tour location. We can’t rave enough about a tour while it wasn’t able to be taken, made our day special the to kindness and an awesome guide and tour company!
Without doubt the best way to see the penguins. We arrived and were very quickly introduced to Terry who was fantastic - so knowledgable and passionate. He really made the trip. We were in 2-person Kayaks with lifejackets provided. There was a locked box for our stuff that was manned at all times on-shore. Being able to see the penguins in the sea in their natural environment is an incredible experience and one not easily forgotten. Terry was able to explain all about their behaviours, habitat and the unfortunate challenges they now face. We were able to kayak right up to groups in the water and observe from a distance - a magical experience. Highly recommend - the best thing we did all trip
This is a fabulous way to get out on the water and get close to penguins in their natural environment. This was a family trip with 2 parents and 2 adult kids. I thought it was good value. The trip was well organised with good safety equipment and 2 guides for the 10 guests. The bright yellow 2 person kayaks are very safe and easy to paddle even for beginners. We had a good hour and a half on the water paddling from Seaforth Beach in Simons Town around to Boulder Beach. We saw the penguins heading out to sea to go fishing. We continued around to Windmill Beach where we beached the kayaks and went exploring in the rock pools and could go for a swim. The water was not too cold and we didn’t need wetsuits. What really made the whole experience was the guide. Terry was so passionate about the penguins and the other animals and gave a great explanation of how they live. Would definitely do this trip again.
Never got the service and havent refunded us, drove an hour for nothing. What a waste of time and energy.
We booked this as an activity on our honeymoon and loved every second of it! Terry and the team were very welcoming. We chose an early morning slot, which meant it was lovely and quiet - the perfect start to any day. Terry was so knowledgeable and passionate about the penguins, which was infectious. We learned so much from him about their behaviour, which we were able to observe really clearly from the water. It's safe to say it's a much better experience than being among the crowds on the beach! It's also obvious how much he cares for these amazing animals (and other species) and strives to help them, so you can rest assured your money is going to a very good place if you book with Shark Warrior.
This was a real highlight of our trip across Southern Africa. Despite us being late due to traffic, Terry waited and still took us out paddling. His knowledge of the local area, penguins, seals, sharks and birds was incredible. As we paddled he spoke to us about conservation and overfishing which was really interesting. We saw loads of penguins and seals and had a really enjoyable time out on the water. I highly recommend booking this activity, it’s well priced, suitable for anyone and what you see with Terry’s knowledge provides an unforgettable experience. Thank you - we had a great time!
We had such a great time with Terry and his team. Terry is very knowledgeable and passionate about this area and the penguins. We learned a lot, and I highly recommend this tour to others!
I’m not usually keen on group trips but this one was definitely one I was glad I did! Terry was so knowledgeable and interesting along with his two guides. We saw penguins, seals and birds - all from a safe distance and with no impact on them at all. Best day out!
A very enjoyable experience with our host Terry. Shark Warrior Adventures is situated very close to the penguins - less rowing and more time with the penguins. We were also joined by a lonely seal that swam between the kayaks.
Felt very safe the whole time! We also had an amazing tour guide named Terry. Very informational and nice.
What an experience! We opted to see Boulders Beach from the sea and I am so glad we did! We were able to have incredible views of the penguins, seals and even were hoping by 2 whales!!! Oh and then we were greeted back on the beach by some baboons! Wow! Terry was our guide and was phenomenal, passionate and knowledgeable. We booked our tour through AWOL adventures who then connected us with Shark Warrior. This was the most perfect day to experience everything at Boulders beach. I wish we had more time to do diving/snorkeling with Shark Warrior… we will save that for our next trip. I would not have wanted to do this any other way. Thank you!!
ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! Terry is so knowledgable about penguins and his care and warmth come thru during the whole trip. We had a group of baby penguins swim right by our kayaks! I also saw seals, two kinds of jellyfish, birds and the water was absolutely perfect. I learned so much about the history of the penguins and how to support the penguins continued existence in Cape Town. This trip is a unique way to experience the wildlife and Simon's Town itself is also a really cute place to grab some lunch afterwards. Highly recommend!
Great guide learned a lot about the ocean and the pinquins. Best way to observe them. Also nice sporty event and best way to experience the Beaty of the coastline. !
Wow what an amazing experience we had with our guide Terry. He was so knowledgeable and passionate not only about the penguins, but the whole ecosystem. He answered many questions about the penguins, sharks, orcas, climate change and anything else you wanted to know. I left Terry wanting to stay and help them anyway I could. I'd like to also acknowledge the local lad (I forgot his name) who assisted Terry. Very smiley and courteous and professional. Thoroughly recommend.
What can I say except get booking. Our experience on Sunday with Terry our guide was so memorable. His knowledge and passion was infectious and educational as well. We all have a part to play in saving our marine life. This is the company who are at the the forefront of trying to make much needed changes in the area. The penguins were fascinating. You don’t need any kayak experience as the team take care of you so well and explain everything. Thank you thank you Terry and your colleagues for all that you do. We will be back.
Kayaking to view the penguins - what's not to like. Our guide was incredibly informative, and clearly passionate about conservation efforts for the penguins. We booked this excursion through a guide service and it went off without a hitch. Definitely worth doing.
The operator cancelled without any word to us. We drove over an hour to get to the site, just locked up and no answer. Disappointed guests , what shocking service. Disgusted
A very nice kayak trip with Terry as a friendly and experienced guide. The penguins are there and we were able to take the time to enjoy them in the best conditions, on a perfectly calm ocean. The environment is beautiful and the group is small (only 2 kayaks), which will have contributed to a great experience. Thanks Terry!
Sehr informativ mit viel Hintergrundwissen über die Pinguine, ihre Lebensweise, die Gefahren und Bedrohungen . Coole Sichten vom Wasser aus und gleichzeitig viel Spaß beim Paddeln auf dem Meer.
