We really did enjoy this sail. Small inflatable boats are best to see the marine live up close and you are in a very small group of people which is amazing (our boat had only 6 seats). Our captain Michaela was excellent and told us a lot interesting facts about all the animal we've seen. The only thing I was a bit sad is that the cruises are only 1hour long. 1,5 or 2 hours would be perfect.

It was a great experience and my captain, Mikayla was awesome!
We booked an ocean safari during our stay in South Africa and it exceeded every expectation. We had the boat just for us, and our guide Mikayla was fantastic from start to finish. She took us to the areas she thought gave us the best chance of spotting marine life — and she was right. We watched dolphins feeding and leaping out of the water, spotted two humpback whales, and even came across a couple of penguins. All in one trip. Mikayla’s knowledge and enthusiasm made it. She was genuinely invested in giving us the best possible time rather than just ticking boxes, and it showed. If you’re visiting the area, don’t skip this. Ask for Mikayla if you can.
We had an amazing experience with Mikaela! She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour so enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see dolphins, penguins, and seals, which made the trip even more special. The speedboat ride at the end was absolutely incredible — so much fun and a perfect way to finish the experience. Highly recommended!
We knew that nothing is guaranteed in the ocean and this was clearly explained by Ricardo. The boat ride itself was brilliant….such a fun experience! We were however absolutely blessed to find a hump back whale….WOW! Watching him around us was simply breathtaking! Ricardo, our guide was a superstar giving us a trip we will never forget & deserves at least 10 stars!!!
This was maybe the single best hour of our week-long stay in Cape Town. The boat looked like new and was well-matained. The "ocean safari" was terrific, a good balance of thrilling high-speed runs over huge sea swells, and nature stops to view wildlife. But what really made the day great was our captain, Yousef. Yousef is a skilled driver. He was attentive to his passengers, making sure everyone felt safe. He turned a good experience into a great one.
Absolutely amazing the skipper shoulda been in Mona he was informative and made us all feel @ ease making sure as a group we were safe and ok. The jet boat was like a roller coaster on the sea, we saw penguins and dolphins early on, I'd highly recommend but your need to brave the bumps and waves, awesome.
In 2020, Captain Riccardo took my wife and I out on a private tour and it was great. This time around in 2024, we returned with our son for another private tour and we all had a blast. Huge thank you to Captain Josh who was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable and accommodating with our little skipper in the making. Looking forward to coming back again. Thanks team!
The description was vague. All we did was take a super fast zodiac boat ride in choppy waters. It should say if you have back issues this may not be for you.
Absolutely terrible. Sea was very rough and we should never have been taken out. Went out about 20m off shore. Saw 2 seals on a bouy then had to go back. One of the engines flooded so we had to chug back slowly. Organiser refused to refund us.
Took the ocean safari cruise with Waterfront Charters but encountered safety issue of one motor on the boat overheating. We were left drifting around the bay with large swells over half an hour with one operating motor. We did not see any ocean animals due to this issue. The kicker was no offer of refund or rescheduled session with the operator. We are still awaiting a response from Waterfront Charters senior management. Buyer beware!
We had an amazing time, so much so we went again, I can recommend this enough. We had a lovely time and got lucky enough to see seals, dolphins and on our second round, we managed to brave the chappy water with a skill guide to find the beautiful whale.
I’ve already done this twice and I plan to go again while in Cape Town!! It’s a perfect, quick activity and SOO much fun!! Both times we saw seals, penguins, lots of jelly fish, and dolphins!! One time I got really lucky and even saw some whales!! It’s so incredible to see wildlife in their natural environment and never know exactly what you’re going to see!! And the team at waterfront charters does an excellent job!!
An incredible sea excursion! Thrilling sensations of speed with this ultra-fast and responsive boat. Crazy jumps, not for the faint-hearted ;-) An experienced captain, highly available, and always on the lookout to make your safari unforgettable. And it was! We found ourselves at an exceptional moment: hundreds of dolphins jumping around us, accompanying a whale playing with dozens of seals!
Great ride out to Clifton Beach and back on the rib. The ‘captain’ was pretty miserable said little other than basic safety briefing but didn’t spoil the enjoyment. Amazing views of V&A, Tabke Mountain and Lions Head and even did some Seal spotting in the harbour on way back. Good value for money but not the ‘eco tour’ advertised.
captain was amazing knew exactly where to take the boat to find all the best sites.well worth the money highly recommended
My husband and I were the only ones who ended up going with our trip but it was so so fun. Theo took us on his boat and was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. My husband is a photographer and got some beautiful shots of the dolphins we saw. I wish it had been longer than an hour, I was having a wonderful time and it went very quickly. Even if you don't see much of the ocean safari, the boat ride itself is pretty cool and enjoyable.
Thoroughly enjoyable boat trip taking in the incredible views of Cape Town as well as penguins, seals and whales whilst being given insights from very informative skippers. Highly recommend.
From my first email to Graeme, to the private tour he offered, and post tour, this is a top-notch company! The communication was easy, and responses came really fast. Graeme took our group on an awesome private tour, where we saw dolphins, as well as other wildlife. We had an incredible time and can't thank Oceans Safari enough for such an amazing trip!
Yesterday morning 9:30AM (Mon 18-09) we went on tour with the guide/captain. We had an amazing tour together with the guide. He explained a lot about the ocean and history of the harbour and Cape Town. We really would recommend this tour. On top of it: we were lucky to see seals, piquins and many dolphins. Thank you for the experience!
I ended up with a group of 3 other people, which was an intimate size I appreciated. We saw dolphins and seals, and it was an adrenaline-filled experience. Highly recommend!
What an amazing experience, an adrenaline rush. You stand up for the ride. Our driver was great he stopped at various locations to provide us with information and we saw some wildlife, sunbathing seals and a penguin 🐧. This was a great experience for all ages even queenagers.would definitely recommend
200 % recommend this. If you're looking for speed in Cape Town. Was incredible feeling and so much fun. Will be returning with mates. Well worth the money. To top it all off we got to see seals, dolphins and a sunfish.
We spent the weekend in CPT from JHB and decided to go on SPECTRE, the 30min Ocean Safari. The guys on the dock was very keen to sell us tickets.... I paid and was told to wait outside, which we did. I eventually asked around after waiting for a while what should we do or where should we go... I was told to speak to the skipper (Lorenzo), I was met with a very rude "NO"! I asked what is means and he just said, "NO" again. Here the 4 of us with tickets in hand stands, no sure what to do.... He walked off into the office....I followed the man into to office to find out what "NO" means, he was so rude. Forms was thrown in front of me and I was told to complete it. FYI....If I speak to my customers like that I will never do business... Luckily a very professional and apologetic gentleman (William - on his shirt) asked me what the problem was and I explained it to him. He offered to take the 4 of us out and I must say, what an experience! He was not only friendly but very knowledgeable and made our afternoon a great one, we had a great 30 min on the ocean. To Lorenzo...you give the company your work for a bad name! People...avoid Lorenzo and you will have a great time! To the rest of the staff - thank you for saving the day!
What a great experience with two excellent skippers on a speed boat around the Cape Point. This is definitely for the adrenaline junkies and added bonus was slowing down and drifting next to allot of dolphins. Thanks Guys !
We had a really fun time on the ocean safari! Michael & Dylan were knowledgeable and had exceptional customer service. We didn’t get a chance to see all water animals but that’s the nature of observing wildlife without baiting. Thanks guys!
We booked the Ocean Safari online after a very helpful and informative chat with Leslie in their waterfront office. It was just the 2 of on the tour and we hoped to see dolphins (and the seals although the seals are a given!). Thabiet greeted us and explained that it was no whale season but 2 were spotted the day before so we would head to the same place. On the way out,he stopped at one of the seal's hangout spots and gave us some information. We then headed to the spot where the whales had been spotted. Thanks to Thabiet, we were lucky enough to spot a mother and her calf, who actually came up 2m from the boat as it was curious! Such a magical moment. We were very lucky to actually spot a group of 5-7 to who kept popping up and the diving. On our way back, we were lucky to spot a pod of dolphins and Thabiet managed to get them to swim next the boat, playing in the wake. Just amazing. Just before entering the harbour, he stopped so we could get a photo of us in front of the mountains (as there was only the 2 of us on the boat!). An amazing e@experience with a friendly and knowledgeable guide.
Feel like active? Then do this trip by kayak. Although in the middle of the day - still dolphins, penguins and seals seen! Very special. Also beautiful view of Cape Town and Table Mountain from the water!
It was amazing, we saw dolphins, seals, penguins. If you like speed go ahead We were a group of 6 and it was perfect
Boat was good. Only a few sea lions seen. What really bothered us, however, was that the boatmaster deliberately and for the amusement of the other tourists, drove birds through the middle of a large collection to scare them off. These were eating and in some cases almost got under the boat!
Trevlig guide o vi såg massvis av sälar och ett par valar på lång håll. Snabb båt som tog dig ut på havet kvickt.
