Lion's Head Hike - Private Tour

We booked a private Lions Head sunset hike with Bike and Hike Tours. We were picked up from our hotel at 3:30 PM and the hike started at 4:00 PM. Our guide Joel was absolutely amazing, he knows a lot of about the local flora and history of the area. He took care about us during the whole hike/climb keeping the safety issues as a first. The hike was so funny, especially the climbing sections secured with ladders and chains, we felt like after the gym. The views from the top and also during the hike were breathtaking. Joel also provided bottles of water and some chocolate bars for us. We can strongly recommend Bike and Hike Tours and will be happy to use their services again.

The Lions Head hike at sunrise is a beautiful. Matt was awesome to ensure that we were safe and comfortable.

I did the Lion's Head Hike and Cape Town's Finest City Bike Tour with Bike & Hike and both were excellent. The Lion's head hike was initially to be Table mountain but due to high winds we switched. Matthew proactively reached out to me to alert me to the wind issue and proposed Lion's head as an alternative which was great as it proved to be an excellent option. The Bicycle tour was also quite enjoyable with comfortable quality bicycles provided as well as a helmet. Skeezo my guide was quite engaging and shared stories and historic background that really made this much more than a bicycle ride. Great company to work with for an active and personalized experience in and around Cape town

We did the hike to Lions head with Bike and Hike before sunrise with Matt as our guide. We had to get up very early to be able to reach the top before the sun came up but it was definitely worth it. The views were absolutely stunning and the experience was amazing. We also arrived at the top before the crowds which made it even more special. Highly recommended day tour.

So much fun and Abie was the best. He was great at helping during the difficult parts and made it a wonderful experience. It does get rocky and a bit challenging so keep that in mind, but the views were amazing.

What a great day! First a hike to Lions Head which was very challenging for me, but our guide Abie made sure I was able to safely complete the entire hike. Than on to Stellenbosch for a farm to table lunch with wine tastings, then a mountain bike adventure. The whole day was fabulous and I highly recommend this company and specifically Abie as a guide.

We started at thursday april the 25 th at 9 in the morning from the parking area nearby the famous wine- restaurant. the weather was great and the whole trip was a great pleasure for us. we were 4 people, two couples from berlin, germany. joel ist a wonderful guide. he knows such alot of things about the history, the landscape and the culture of cape town, the south african people, the society. we discussed during the long hiking tour a lot of questions. joel was so patiently, answered all of our questions

Organising our tour with Matt was easy and communication was fantastic. Our guide Joel, was amazing and helped make the experience even better. I had some limiting issues and the company and Joel accommodated these and I had a fabulous time

Matt from Hike & Bike led my wife and me on a hike of Lion's Head and it was wonderful. From the time he picked us up from the hotel, he was very well organized and high quality. He was very knowledgeable about the area and explained what to expect. We are fast hikers, and he easily adjusted to our pace. We highly recommend this tour group for this hike and others.

My husband and I are in Cape Town for our honeymoon and we are SO happy we booked with Matt for our hike. He made the experience incredible and he deserves more than 5 stars! Matt picked us up at our hotel and guided us up and down the mountain professionally and courteously. He provided snacks and cold water. He explained the flora and fauna, geology and views. The hike was somewhat challenging for a sixtyish couple in fair to middling shape and we were grateful for Matt‘s expert guidance. The upper sections of the hike featured some vertical ladders and handrails and rock climbing, but it was always manageable for us. The reward for the challenge were stunning 360 degree views with Cape Town and the ocean below and Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles across from us. 5 stars.

Challenging hike with quite a bit of scrambling near the top. Stupendous views. Matt our private guide was friendly, patient and reassuring. Would recommend this hike to anyone who is fit and limber…

Our second hike with Matt and his team. Can not rate them highly enough. Abi was our guide and he ensured we had an amazing experience. Reaching the top for the sunset and ensured we all returned safely. He was very friendly, good fun and nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate to recomnend Matt and his team.

Such a great hike to do with a knowledgeable guide! He made sure we could take the more difficult path but do it safely even though we weren’t avid hikers. It was so worth it!

Good guide. Fun to talk to. Easy going and considerate about speed going up and down. Especially recommended if you have not done a hike before. Views all the way up there are spectacular.

Wow! We had such an amazing hike up Lion’s Head mountain! Matt was our guide & picked us up at our hotel & had drinks & snacks for us. He even had trekking poles (but we did not need them). There are a couple of tricky areas but nothing terrible. It’s definitely a doable hike if you are fit or semi fit. Matt guided us to the summit & the views were simply beautiful! Worth the hike for sure! He took wonderful photos for us too! We cannot recommend booking this hike with Matt if you visit Cape Town!

Extremely happy I booked Matt for this hike. Extremely professional service from pick-up to drop off. I had thought about just doing the hike by myself, but glad I didn't. As not only did Matt provide some information on the mountain and Cape Town in general, but he also was very helpful in navigating some of the more tricky parts of Lion's Head. An absolute must book in my opinion.

Cannot thank Matt enough for an awesome hike. The service started way before the hike with a prompt pick up from my Lodge, to information about the hile itself and Cape Town in general, the hike itself, and a drop-off back at the Lodge. I am glad I did not decide to do the hike by myself as there were some tricky parts to navigate, for which Matt knew like the back of his hand. He also knew the good stops to grab some water and a snack (which he had some to provide), and also the good spots for pictures. All in all it was A1 service from beginning to end, and highly recommend it.

We met Abie and Bike and Hike on a guided bike tour in Stellenbosch and booked this tour straight away. Pick-up at the hotel, small group (4 people + guide), very well-maintained VW van. Supply of snacks and water and a very professional tour to Lions Head for sunset. Abie knows the area and knows the best spots for sunset. Safe and relaxed, fun and individual hike!
