WE had a great half day with this wine tour. Leticia picked us up with her bus at a hotel nearby to where we were staying (although it would have been nice to have been picked up at our hotel), and took us all (there were a few others on the bus), to a couple of vineyards in Stellenbosch. We first went to Marianne wine estate and then to Fairview, where we had wine tastings (with snacks included). These tastings were very good, and Leticia was a good guide. En route to the first tasting, we had a very short stop off in Stellenbosch, but not for very long (not even long enough to have a coffee) . We really enjoyed this half-day and Leticia was very knowledgeable and personable. Would recommend this tour!

The guide came to pick us up and we talked a lot during the drive, it was really nice to talk and laugh. The ride through the winelands was so magnificient and beautiful. We had the chance to spot a black mamba!!
This was a fabulous tour! Our tour guide, Basil, was wonderful! Extremely knowledgeable, kind and friendly . The wineries were beautiful and visiting the quaint Ductc town elwas a treat
The pick up time was an issue for all groups on this tour. The confirmation email and a follow up email had times that varied by 15-30 min. For example, our confirmation said pick up at 8:30, but the driver was there at 8:15 and proceeded to tell us how late we were and have delayed him. The following two couples had the same issue. The first couple that was picked up told us they were expecting to be collected at 8:00 but only got picked up at 8:35. Not a great start to the day. The tour guide spoke a lot during the tour, with a lot of nonsensical musing about things not related to the destination. We tuned out about 20 minutes in to the 1 hour drive from Cape Town to Stellenbosch. The wineries we visited varied from the itinerary on our confirmation. We booked to see Zewenwacht and Weltevreden. But on the tour we went to Zewenwacht and Marianne which was not great. My partner does not eat meat that’s why I specifically booked two estates that offer a cheese pairing and not the biltong pairing at Marianne. Overall, a subpar experience and we’d be unlikely to recommend to others.
It turned out to be a private tour. Our guide/driver Zain was very knowledgeable and attentive. The first winery Zevenwacht - we had a tour of the cellar - very interesting, then tasting of 4 different wines, paired with cheese. Highly recommended! The second winery Marianne- beautiful views, but no tour of the cellar, tasted 4 wines, paired with dried meat from sori h ok, kudu and beef. The Florial wine was exceptional.
The tour company took the booking but contacted me a few minutes later to say the tour did not have enough people to go. I had to spend part of my vacation trying to figure out how to contact TripAdvisor to tell them the company had canceled and ask for a refund. Can't recommend the tour company, and it would be really helpful if TripAdvisor had better contact info available to users.
My wife and I took this half-day Stellenbosch tour on the day that we were scheduled to depart Cape Town. Our guide was Rob Martin, who was a real delight, knowledgeable and interesting. If you take this tour, I would highly recommend that you request Rob as your guide. He picked us up timely at our hotel in the morning (in fact, he was there earlier than scheduled) and after a wonderful tour of Stellenbosch and two wineries (all that we had time for), he got us back to our hotel in plenty of time to collect our suitcases and get to the airport for our flight.
We wished to arrange a 1/2 day trip to Stellenbosch from Cape Town to see the town and test the wines. Early 8.30 pick up from hotel was excellent and we met our driver/guide Jackie. Small group of 7 people.. 40 minute drive to first vineyard and we enjoyed our first sampling of 4 wines and cheeses. Then drive through Stellenbosch before visiting the second vineyard. Back at hotel by 13.30. Excellent trip when time is limited in Cape Town. Jackie was outstanding.
Two wonderful wineries, experienced descriptions of the wine, four at each winery, and a knowledgeable and safe guide and driver.
Amazing winery tour! Raegan was an outstanding guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and full of fun stories. The wines were excellent, the scenery beautiful, and the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous tour of 2 wineries and a tour of Stellenbosch with an amazing young man called Zac, he was so knowledgeable.
In error I accidentally booked a private instead of a group tour with the rest of my friends. It worked out well. My tour guide Adolf was very knowledgeable and provided background on the area. He was willing to take me to any winery I preferred- however, I hadn’t completed any research and relied on his expertise. Two wineries were more than enough for me as I rested really that night.
Really good tour and suited our timeframe. Rowland was very informative and attentive. Great trip even though the weather wasn’t good.
The driver stole our wine during a stop in Stellenbosch town. Very disappointed with the tour operator African Eagle for not taking any action.
this is a very short tour, consisted of more driving then “touring” the 2 vineyards when leaving from capetown pick up our driver Adolph was very nice, knowledgeable and good driver
Ne Ne is an excellent travel guide that provides. It is well-organized, easy to follow, and packed with insightful recommendations..Ne Ne is a great companion for a smooth and enjoyable journey. Highly recommended! Me and my friend Leong really have a lot of fun with her.
Wonderful half day tour with outstanding wine ! Our guide was fabulous, lots of local historical points of information. Very patient and knowledgeable of the winery’s and city
Worse than expected. Booked half day wine tour. Picked up at pre-arranged time but the next 2 pick ups were at the same time and the one couple weren’t ready so had to go back for them. Then the driver got on the wrong road. We got stuck in traffic on the motorway. When we got to Stellenbosch it was rush hour so we got stuck in traffic again. This meant that the two wine tastings we attended were rushed. Don’t feel it was value for money
We went to two winwyards but we didn't go to Stellenboch. We didn't why. So, the visit wasn't complete. It was a little decepcion
Comprehensive . Lots of information about history and area. Both wineries friendly and good service. Choice of wine and cheese pairing was good. Never tried dried meats so a new experience
Wines were disappointing. First winery which was the better one we felt rushed. Second winery was very average. Best bit was interesting information given by our guide on the bus out of Capetown about the townships.
The whole trip was amazing! Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting, the wineries were beautiful and the wines were excellent. The whole tour was great from start to finish.
I booked this half day trip for a 13.30 pick up. By 13.45 I still hadn’t been collected and I’d had no correspondence. A different tour with the same operator arrived and as I couldn’t get hold of anyone made some calls. My driver finally turned up 45 minutes late and told me they had forgotten to add me to the tour list. We only went to 2 locations, the first was so noisy, we could hardly hear our sémillon, the second we were just left to work it out, the museum was closed, and the bus was like a sauna despite asking for the heating to be turned off. I had a meeting at 18.30 and had allowed an hour between getting back and my meeting in case there was traffic. At 17.20 I asked our driver what time he thought we would get back he said 17.30. We were an hour away from the city and hadn’t finished our tastings. So that certainly wasn’t happening. I decided to make my own way back, missing two wines and the pairings., so I could make my evening meeting. I requested a partial refund to account for missing wines, the delay, and making my own way back, but the operator African Eagle Tours, refused. Really, really poor
Had a wonderful 1/2 day private tour with Bonnie. She took me and my husband to Stellensbosch, shared lots of information about the area and arranged 2 wine tastings for us. Would definitely do this again. It was like being driven around by a friend.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and checked in with us regularly. He was present throughout the day. He knew our names and made us laughing loved the wine tasting experience but the most special part of the day was when he sang a song to us in his native language. Do amazing!
The trip to the two locations was good. The wines were different than US but ok. The sound system in the guides van was not great - too much echo so it was hard to understand him in the van. The time allowed in the village was only 10 min - too short. The vinyard tour guide in the cask area was hard to hear because of the cooling fans. Then the tour in the tasting room was confusing because of the loud patrons at the table next to ours - they should have located us at a table a little farther away when it was obvious they were having a very good time.
We had a nice experience. Eddie was an excellent guide and was a wealth of information. The choice of wineries was also good.
Our guide Adam was outstanding as well as the service we received at both wineries. Wine was delicious and we bought some to bring home
Our halfday trip to Stellenbosch winelands was just a little bit below our expectations. As we are not big on wine drinking, we were thinking that a full day tour would have been too much, but with more information we would probably opt out for it instead. First, pick up times seemed to not have been communicated properly, we were picked up 30 minutes earlier than our ticket suggested, and there was another person that 'wasn't ready on time' so our guide asked him to take an Uber to the first winery. At both wineries, the tables were not ready when we arrived, and waiting times to be seated, for setting up the table and between wines were quite longer than the whole group expected (this is probably not the reflection of the tour organiser, but it didn't seem like our guide was surprised so it might be a regular occurence). With all that, we had no time at all to walk around the winelands, and even the driving tour around the city of Stellenbosch was very short with no stops or historical information. Finally, the wines were also underwhelming, which might have been a result of time limitation and choosing wineries closer to the city. Overall, if you are looking to experience the atmosphere and tastes of South African winelands, I strongly recommend to take a whole day tram tour instead. If you are in a rush and can only dedicate half a day to it, self driving to the best winery might also be for you. We met some nice people on this tour, and got to taste wines in pairing with both cheese and biltong, but we believe there is more to Stellenbosch winelands and we would like to come back for a more extensive tour.
The tour took us to a different winery. All wines we tasted were low quality. The tour guide was kind but I can’t recommend this tour.
Raegan was amazing and so unbelievably accommodating. Truly went above and beyond all expectations and helped create the most memorable day ever. Couldnt recommend him any more. 1000/10. Thanks so much
This wine tour was such a great experience in the perfect amount of time. We were picked up on time and our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable and funny. We visited 2 wineries. The tour was shared with people from different parts of the world. Overall fantastic experience and highly recommended.
Really enjoyed our half day afternoon tour, our guide and driver gave a great commentary during the drive - covering some key history which was very informative. Vineyards were great with very knowledgeable staff and bought a few bottles of wine to take home. Would highly recommend!
We had an absolutely fabulous time on this tour. Our tour guide/driver was very knowledgeable, friendly and great fun! We visited two wineries, sampled some delicious wine paired with cheese and biltong. We shared the minibus with a lovely family from Zimbabwe whom we got to know. Highly recommend this tour!
We had a fun day visiting the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands. Both wineries that we visited were beautiful with beautiful views. The wine was good and was paired with cheese and the first winery and dried meats at the second. Our driver/guide was friendly and informative. The half day itinerary worked for our schedule and allowed us to visit this region, enjoy the scenery and taste some wine.
We had a lot of tours lined up via our travel agent but we had a spare afternoon and I wanted to see the a Stellenbosch area- the company we were with would only do Constantia so I booked this tour with African Eagle. It was definitely a highlight of our trip! Our guide “Hamilton” was THE BEST! We learned SO much from him on the drive and he was funny, charming and insightful. He made sure our trip was seamless from start to finish and definitely went above and beyond. African Eagle should give this guy a raise because he blew away the guides from their competitor! Thanks for a great trip with great memories!
This was an amazing tour and location. We went to two different Wineries and both were excellent. Our tour guide was really great as well.
The tour was great, the selected wineries were very good, with good tastings. The Guide was also very nice, explaining everything at all times, answering questions, etc. The only problem was regarding the prior organization, as we ended up being 1 hour late from the scheduled time, which shortened our experiences at the locations.
Perfect amount of time. Driver (Wellington) was great and vineyards were fabulous. Recommend to anyone that is short on time but wants to see South Africa wineries.
Moses was a great guide. The wineries were as promised. It was a fun tour and very informative about Cape Town.
Lovely guide and only a small group. Both wine farms were interesting and we tried a good variety of wines
We booked last minute and just wanted a half day compared to full day. Our driver was so sweet. The two wineries were beautiful.
More of a scam than anything, booked through their authorised platform. Immediately after payment, they had a decency of calling me and indicated that the time slot chosen is no longer available. Disgusting to say the least.
First winery did not have any outdoor seating and the gift shop was very small. The tasting was very good and the staff was wonderful. The second winery the staff, location and view were wonderful. However the wines had more French flavors than South African which is what we were expecting.
Beautiful scenery around the winelands. Great tastings paired with lovely cheeses and biltong within nice aesthetics. A lot of fun!
We had a wonderful day with Lou touring the Stellenbosch region. We visited two wineries, each unique in their presentation of wines and pairings. We had a short tour of the quaint town of Stellenbosch. Lou was knowledgeable and kind. Our group of four would highly recommend.
This tour with Africa Eagle was the best and my first time in life visiting a wine land. Both the state had different type of wine tasting. I bought 6 bottles if wine from Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is small town and beautiful the whole area with university in middle of the town. Good if can stay there 2 night and explore the town.
Viator pick up time was for 07:30 while the service supplier’s time was scheduled for 08:50, we could have slept another hour and have a breakfast before this excursion.
I had the pleasure of experiencing a tour guided by Eddie around Stellenbosch, and I must say, it was unlike any other. We paid extra for a private tour of a group of five adults. We were collected on time in a stylish, spacious and comfortable car. We visited two winery’s, Zevenwacht then Marianne. In Zevenwacht we viewed the wine cellar then had a tasting of four wines (2 red & 2 wine) paired with cheese and crackers. In Marianne, we viewed the vineyards then sampled five wines (1 rose, 2 red and 2 white) paired with biltong. Zevenwacht is dated in comparison to Marianne however the wine and snacks were more to our taste pallet. Our tour guide Eddie's approach stands out as he allows guests to explore at their own pace, fostering a sense of freedom and autonomy rarely found in guided tours. His captivating tone of voice effortlessly held our attention without being overbearing, making the journey both informative and a memorable experience. Eddie's unique style truly elevated the experience, leaving me with fond memories and a desire to explore more under his guidance.
Hamilton was an excellent guide and host. He is knowledgeable in both South African history and the vineyards. We loved the wine at each stop with food pairings. Cheese at one, springbok, kudu, and beef at the other. It was a lovely afternoon in the beautiful countryside outside of Cape Town. Enjoyed the tour of Stellenbosch. Request Hamilton if you can.
