Itinerary
Soon after pick up we will drive along the M5 and connect with the M4 via Muizenberg, St. James and Fish Hoek beaches located along the scenic False Bay coastline on our way to Boulder's Beach Penguins Colony.
Passing through Muizenberg beach we will see the stretch of attractive colourful beach huts in the distance. The beach huts resemble the “bathing machines” of the 1800’s—a cart-like structure that was wheeled down to the water’s edge, allowing the ladies to change into their chin-to-ankle bathing wear and frolic in the shallow waters. The beach huts are subsequently used as change rooms for sunbathers and keen surfers alike.
Much like their counterparts, the Beach huts that can be seen here at St. James Beach are also used by sunbathers as change rooms. Your tour guide will stop here for a few minutes to allow for some fun-filled photos with these colourful beach huts before we proceed to Boulder's Beach Penguins colony.
We drive past Kalk Bay Harbour which is more like a fishing village, with the fishing boats docking and the fish traders praising their catch. Fresh fish are available for puchase here on a daily basis. The sights, smells and refreshing sea air are nothing less than spectacular.
We pass through Fish Hoek beach. It is possible to feel the warm Indian ocean waters which flow into the False Bay area making Fish Hoek a preferred beach for swimming and sunbathing on long stretches of warm white sand.
We stop at Boulder's Beach to visit the African Penguins colony. Boulder's Beach is one of the best beaches in Cape Town particularly for swimming and sunbathing. It is possible to have close encounters with the African penguins whilst swimming and sunbathing at Boulder's Beach but it is not guaranteed. Therefore, we will take a walk along the boardwalk to the official penguins colony location to see the penguins in their natural habitat. Boulder's penguins colony is home to approximately 3000 African Penguins who spend their days frolicking in the False Bay waters, basking in the sun and parading on the granite Boulders.
After our encounter with the charming African Penguins, we proceed to what is surely the highlight of the day: The Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point Nature Reserve. It is believed that no visit to Cape Town is complete without a photo behind the Cape of Good Hope name board. We will explore the nature reserve whilst the tour guide shares historical stories about the Bartholomew Dias and Vasco Da Gama beacons. The Cape of Good Hope is home to many a fauna and flora such as fynbos (fine bush), over 250 species of birds including ostriches, buck, baboons and the Cape mountain zebra. We advise our guests to please be vigilant and not get too close the the wild animals in the reserve as they can become violent. No close contact or feeding is allowed.
After exploring the Cape of Good Hope we will drive to the Cape Point where visitors are free to take a short hike up to the Cape Point lighthouse or take the option of the Flying Dutchman Funicular (additional charge at own account). Many believe that the Cape Point is the meeting point of the Two Oceans. However, Cape Point is infact the official meeting point of the Two Ocean Currents: the Cold Benguela and the Warm Agulhas ocean currents. The Cape Point lighthouse is the most powerful on the South African coast.
Providing that it is operational, we will take a drive through Chapmans Peak Drive, which is one of the most scenic routes in the world. We will stop for a few minutes at the viewpoint to take some photos.
Upon our arrival back in Cape Town visitors will be dropped off at the same pick up point where they were collected in the morning.

Was a amazing tour, the guide Lailah and the driver were so friendly and kind. I recommend for everybody.
Wonderful day - Our tour guide is very knowledgeable of the areas we travelled and he was generally very helpful. Stunning sights. Would recommend
Quick trip that covered all the necessary attractions. Our guide (Justin) was very informative about the history of South Africa and current information.
This excursion was exactly as advertised. We didn't have a ton of time so opting for the half day tour was the best option for us. We got to see a quite a bit in a relatively short amount of time. Nathan was a great tour guide, telling us about South African history as well as being knowledgeable about local animals and wildlife we encountered.
The tour was amazing. The route, the driver super attentive and friendly. It's definitely really worth it! Everything was just perfect.
Zaine took great care of us today. Wonderful helpful information along the journey, history, wildlife, culture, and traditions. It was a very diverse international group. We had many laughs, were entertained, and took stunning photos. The Cape Trip with Boulders Day penguins excelled my expectations. I was honoured to be part of tour. Zaine makes the day special.
This might be a half day excursion but you are going to see a lot! We had a wonderful experience with our guide Kayembe. He took us to see everything we had hoped to see and gave us plenty of time to enjoy each stop. He was timely and knowledgeable. A must do if you want to hit the main sites!
Great way to see the Cape highlights for those with limited time. Our guide, Leon, was knowledgeable and kept us engaged
I highly recommend this tour to everyone, including Brazilian travelers and the LGBTQ+ community! Our guide, Mireille, was absolutely amazing! She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and welcoming! 🏳️🌈❤
This tour was amazing. Ray was an excellent tour guide showing us such beautiful sites and so knowledgeable sharing information along the way. The pace was perfect, with plenty of time at all locations. Loved the pickup and drop-off from the hotel too. Highly recommend this tour
Wonderful guide Joel, knowledgable and all around pleasant
Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our vehicle had an unforseen breakdown and our Guide handled the situation really well and we were able to continue our tour with a short delay, whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed the tour immensely and will definitely book a tour again.
Excellent trip …. We seen far more than we expected. Our guide, Gift, was amazing! Would definitely recommend this trip
We had such a wonderful day exploring Cape Town! We visited so many beautiful places, including Boulders Beach, the Cape of Good Hope and Simon’s Town, and even went on a seal tour. The tour was super informative, and Jeff shared so many interesting facts about South Africa and all the places we visited. Our Tourguide Jeff was incredibly kind, and you could really tell how passionate he is about what he does. He put so much effort into making our day special and even took some cute pictures of us! The car was also very comfortable, and we felt in great hands the whole day. We absolutely loved the experience and would highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Jeff, for an unforgettable day! 🥰
This is a great tour!!! Jeff is a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable, very friendly. He was extremely detail oriented and helped make this experience a blast. I highly recommend this tour and Jeff!
This was a great tour to the Cape of good hope and southern cape. Also a visit to the African penguin colony. Our guide/driver was Sedick Petersen he was great and knew the best order to visit each site to miss the crowds. He gave us information about every place we drove through and visited. There was only 5 of us on this tour which made it very sociable and we had a good laugh mainly lead by Sedick which made the whole tour more enjoyable. I can highly recommend this Half day tour you get to see everything and have enough time at each stop to see everything.
Our guide Sedick had so much energy and took lots of time to share stories related to Nelson Mandela and life in South Africa across the years. He also made lots of jokes and made us feel comfortable as a group right away. He was keen to show us different routes during the trip so we could see as much as possible. The observation decks for watching the penguins were a bit small for the number of tourists, and so-called influencers should remember that to allow everyone to take pictures and enjoy their moment. I think these facilities could be upgraded a bit more notably with more information about the animals and Simon's Town. Table Mountain National Park was beautiful and I personally had more than enough time to hike up to the lighthouse in Cape Point. I enjoyed the half-day format and didn't feel rushed at all, as the time at each stop was enough to take in the scenery and take a few pictures.
Guide was great and knowledgeable.
My friends and I had an incredible day experiencing the natural beauty of Boulders Beach, Cape Point, Chapman's Peak, etc. Our driver Felix was kind, flexible, informative, and professional - we were thrilled with him. We loved seeing penguins, baboons, gorgeous mountains, glistening oceans, and lovely protea. It was a magical day - highly recommended!
This tour exceeded our expectations in every way! Our driver & guide, FELIX, was AMAZING!!! He was prompt, personable, very knowledgeable, and really made the day for us. He insured that we had a great experience at every stop and his driving put us at ease. We enjoyed time at Boulder Beach with the penguins, had a chance to hike up to the Old Cape Point lighthouse without feeling rushed, got to spend some time at Cape of Good Hope, stopped for a few minutes to watch some baboons cross the road in front of us, and savored the truly stunning views along Chapman’s Peak Drive. Highly, highly recommend! Can’t think of a better way to spend half a day on the Cape!!!
I’m really happy I booked the half-day Boulders Beach tour. It was much more than just visiting Boulders Beach and seeing the penguins - I got to experience several other beautiful parts of Cape Town along the way. Mulanda was a wonderful guide, friendly and made the whole experience enjoyable. It was such a lovely way to see more of Cape Town in a short time, and I’m very glad I booked it!
The tour was worth it, I was constrained on time and hence the half day worked out really well. My tour guide Nathan was really nice and gave good description of places. Unfortunately I didn’t had cash so couldn’t tip him. For me the highlight was Penguins at the boulder’s beach and the cape of good hope/cape point and got decent amount of time to spend there.
Sedick (Peterson) packed all the major sites and more on this fun filled adventure. Whilst the sights are stunning, it is the guide which takes it to another level. Highly recommended
very good experience, good management of time.
What a fantastic trip, from the penguins at Boulders Beach, to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Our driver, Nathan, was great at giving us local and historic knowledge - thoroughly recommend!
The tour was a great way to see the main highlights of cape town outside the city center in a short amount of time. Gift was a great guide that kept things on track.
That short half-day trip to the Cape of Good Hope and seeing the penguins at the Boulders Beach colony was well worth it. Our guide Jeff was very courteous and patiently explained things throughout the tour. I recommend it!
Amazing tour. Very well organized, good timing
We have had an incredible time on this tour! The pick up and drop off at our hotel was brilliant. Our tour guide, Gift Mulanda was fabulous! He gave us lots of information throughout our tour about the areas we were visiting or travelling through. He answered any questions we asked and gave us a great deal of history about different places we were seeing, which was all very interesting! The highlights for us were the penguins at Boulders Beach, the incredible drive to the Cape of Good Hope and Chapmans Peak Drive.
Fantastic Day. Loved the penguins and the spectacular views along the way. Half a day focussing on the Cape and the penguins was perfect. Not happy with the park fees charged to foreign travellers however. Why is it necessary to so obviously charge us such a premium over locals.
We had such a wonderful half-day tour of Cape Point and Boulders Beach with Beyond Africa Luxury Tours and our guide, Mena. Five stars from our whole family! From the beginning, the communication was excellent. We received an email the night before and a WhatsApp message the morning of our tour confirming our pickup, and Mena arrived right on time. He was warm, joyful, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience feel easy. My daughters especially appreciated how Mena explained what we were seeing while still giving us plenty of time to explore on our own. My husband also loved that Mena spoke French! I appreciated how safe and comfortable I felt with my children in the car. He was an excellent driver, and we never felt rushed. One of my favorite things was his flexibility. Someone in our group really wanted to visit an ostrich farm, and after checking with everyone, Mena adjusted our timing so we could fit it in. It was such a fun addition and a great example of how attentive he was to the group. The scenery throughout the day was absolutely beautiful, and the tour gave us a wonderful sense of the Cape Peninsula without feeling overwhelming. We also really enjoyed the other people in our group, which made the day even more fun. And my 9-year-old summed it up perfectly: if it’s your first time in Cape Town, she recommends doing this tour because you get to see and explore so many different parts of the area. Educational, beautiful, well-organized, and genuinely fun. We would absolutely recommend Beyond Africa Luxury Tours and Mena!
We had the chance to visit these beautiful places even in a short time; probably if I could do it again I would prefer the day tour, but it also depends a lot on the weather (if it’s windy half day is more than fine) the guide was always polite and available to tell us curiosities about cape town
Our guide Jeff was super nice, available and well-informed. He illustrated a lot of Cape Town’s history which was very interesting. The landscapes were amazing and he drove through the most scenic roads. Great day
Our guide, Ray, was fabulous. He was so knowledgeable about the area and he made it a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend him.
Our guide was amazing and we covered so much Cape Town in a half day. It was a day well spent.
The tour exceeded my expectations! It was such a complete and special experience. The pick-up and drop-off were right at the door of our hotel, which made everything very convenient. I was especially impressed by how close we were able to get to the penguins. I thought we would only see them from the viewing platforms, but we actually walked along the beach right next to them it was truly magical and much more special than I expected! I highly recommend this tour. It was absolutely worth it and definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
It’s a great snapshot of the Cape Town region and all its splendor. Beautiful scenery, especially on a nice day. So many experiences. And bonus if Nathan is your guide. He’s fun, informative, funny, entertaining and interesting. He made sure it was a good time. A guide like Nathan can make all the difference in your experience.
I can’t say enough good things about Japhet: super knowledgable, polite, friendly and helpful. Thank you!
Outstanding tour and guide Pre tour communication could be much improved Never had communication issues prior to a tour with this company
Great half-day tour with Ejide. I only had a few hours left before my flight, so this was a perfect way to make the most of my last day. We managed to see a lot in a short time. The penguins were definitely the highlight for me, but we also saw many other animals and visited some really interesting places. On the way, Ejide gave us a very interesting overview of South African history, which added a lot to the experience. Great tour and a lovely way to finish my trip. Thanks, Ejide!
The tour was brilliant. Ray our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was clear he loves the city and was passionate about sharing the appreciation for it. We spent appropriate time at each stop to fully take in the sites and their beauty. Couldn’t recommend ray and beyond African safaris enough to people who want see the cape area of the city and beyond.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Cape Town. Ray was the best guide and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much and got to see INCREDIBLE views and animals!! 11/10!
This was a great day trip. We saw penguins, Cape of Good Hope, took a quick hike, baboons and ostriches. The drive was beautiful. Our guide Ray was great too!
Great tour with excellent tour guide!
Easy booking and I added my own SAN parks tickets in myself which wasn’t difficult. Fabulous guide Ray. Very chatty and jovial. Great day for us all . Tour was perfect length of time too .
Ray was an amazing guide and of course the Cape region is gorgeous. Make sure you start at Middle Beach for the penguins - you can try and walk on the beach with them!
Sedrick was an extremely informative and entertaining guide. He had many stories to share along the way. The half day was a perfect amount of time. The penguins were awesome!
Great tour of the beautiful Cape. Perfect for those who don't want to spend an entire day. Mena was a great guide. Gave us lots of information, very friendly and safe driver. Would highly recommend.
Ejite was an amazing guide! So knowledgeable and very accommodating with everything! Our day ran a little long but he wanted to make sure everyone was happy with everything we did!
