Constantia Wine And Storytelling Tour With Lunch From Cape Town

One of the best tours I have been on. History, good and bad, brilliantly told in an engaging, entertaining and educational way. Thorough research and brilliant story telling, as well as outstanding customer care, even giving me some sun screen. It was so nice, of course, to walk in the vineyards, enjoy stunning views and understand more about the old Cape Dutch architecture. I look forward to more tours with this superb company.

Matt from Natural Wanders made our time together enjoyable with his many stories from the area from our first glass of bubbles and sweet treat to our liquid sunshine glass of Vin De Constance and lovely lunch. Had a great tour with Matt. He’s really fun, makes the history of Constantia come alive with story telling. Stunning scenery. If you are looking for loads of info about the wines it may not be the right tour for you. We thoroughly enjoyed the wines we tasted, and brought some back to the UK and also met some truly lovely South Africans who were just delightful. Picnic lunch at the last wine farm was perfect. It was a great way to spend one of the few sunny days we had!

We did the tour on 6th March - a surprisingly dull & cloudy day in Cape Town - but it turned out to be a perfect day over in Constantia - so never let the weather deter you. Just 4 of us were booked on the walk, led by Harleigh. The walk was informative, captivating, fun & engaging. The wine tastings were all excellent & the picnic at the end - OMG - divine ! I’ve wanted to do this tour for a few years now but it never worked out. I’m so glad that I finally did - highly recommended.

Geoff and Cedric made this walk and absolutly pleasurable journey! Geoff has a racontuer type storytelling manner, coupled with fine support from Cedric and their their joking, relaxed and friendly banter was interesting and most welcome from 9am in the morning until we finished after lunch time. The early morning small glass of perfectly chilled Steenberg splarking wine coupled with the unexpected but delicious and warm Pasteis de Nata, set the tone and standard of what was to follow. All of this made the wine tasting, a matter still of key importance to us - an easy, informative driven, yet fun event! Their knowledge of the region and the history was delightfully received, at times with wonder but mostly always with general intrigue from a learning point of view. Matt can very proud of these two gentlemen who made JC's 70th celebration an honestly most enjoyable experience- I just wish we had done this many times before with our fmailies - during the many and varied visits to the Mother City! we will most certainly be back to try out another such tour.

A great tour that is not like others. Fun walks through different vineyards, nice tastings, and great stories. Geoff was a great guide and we learned a lot about the area in a way that was never going to be possible but just driving up to the tasting rooms. I would recommend this for anyone who wants something unique and fun.

This isn't your 'usual' guided tour. It's far more interesting and entertaining. Come for the wine and views - stay for the stories. Matt has a way of sharing the history of this beautiful area in a unique way that doesn't feel like you're getting a history lesson. You're hearing about the people, their (often scandalous) lives, and the mischief that happened, while tasting great wine and walking between the vineyards. It's a different way to experience the Cape Town winelands. And I will be recommending it to anyone who will listen. Thank you Matt and the Natural Wanders team for this unforgettable experience. We did the Constantia Wine Walk and it was so special. Matthew’s knowledge and storytelling made this such a fun experience! We are both from Cape Town, knowledgeable on wine and history but this tour exceeded our expectations. No matter if you are a tourist in Cape Town or a local, this is definitely something to add to your bucket list!

On Saturday my husband and I did the Constantia Wine walk and really enjoyed every minute. Matt is a fantastic storyteller and so knowledgeable. He spoilt us with MCC and Pastei de Nata and a snack pack. The wine tasting were excellent at the 3 wineries we visited. Finished off with a delicious lunch. Would go it again and will definitely be encouraging friends and family to experience the walk.

As a local, it was wonderful to learn about the characters that were instrumental in starting the story of our neighborhood. Matt is an excellent storyteller and made the tour one that I would recommend to everyone. Of course the splendid wines and delicious meal rounded off everything perfectly. What an incredible day! I don't think I have ever spoken about any tour as much as I have this one. Matt's entertaining stories, that were not found in any of my school history books, deserve to be heard. The beauty of the region, the quality of the wines, the history and the scandals and simply walking through the stunning vineyards between wine farms, made for an absolutely perfect day. I cannot recommend this enough. We are already planning our Franschhoek tour!

Absolutely loved this walk - a really interesting and fun way to spend a day. Matt’s demeanour and storytelling is second to none, I loved hearing all about the history of the area and the stories of the people who made it all happen (especially the rebellious women!). Views and wine were also, of course, fantastic. It’s not too long a walk and the terrain should be suitable for most. Would definitely recommend!

Tour was so fun and informative - much more personalised and interesting than the usual tourist tours. Matt is a true storyteller and takes you through the history of the area. The wineries were beautiful and great to relax at in between walking.

Matt is an engaging story teller who brings Constantia to life through tales and history of the people who lived there. It makes for a very interesting morning walking through the stunning vineyards tasting the wine as you go. Much more interesting for me than being told about the acidity of the wine or the ideal temperature for storage.

The walk alone was fantastic. Very scenic and you see vineyards in Constantia that you were not otherwise see. I grew up in Constantia and yet saw many new places.Matt provided some very interesting tales about the history of making in Cape Town, which is truly fascinating. We did this walk in the Constantia vineyards with Matthew and it was really nice. He does not tell you the dry facts about grapes and winemaking but is telling stories about the people behind. Walk is comfortable with nice views and delicious wine tastings. Absolutely to be recommended to do when in Cape Town!

The highlight was our storyteller Matthew, who has deep knowledge of the history of the valley and an ability to tell it with wry humour and charm. Stopping at frequent intervals for a tipple was a pleasant novelty and the picnic lunch on the lawns at Buitenverwachting was outstanding.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town. You could do a wine tasting at any of the wine farms in Constantia but you’d miss out on the history and stories that brings it all to life. Matthew has a great knack for storytelling and has just added some additional tours to his offering. We wish we could’ve done those too!

This was the best tour we did when on our vacation in South Africa. Our informative and exceptional guide Geoff guided us through the history books of the Constantia valley, bringing to life the people, the wines and the way of life. The tour was made even more fun with a sip here and a sip there of vino. With the grand finale being a delicious lunch with more sips.

I would recommend comfortable walking shoes and attire. Terrain is mostly flat in and amongst the vineyards. Highly recommended!
