It was a great experience and our guide was very polite! The Goat Cheese wine stop was an added bonus.
was cool. Idk the actual cost to get into Aquila b/c I paid through the travel coordinator but it was an expensive uber. If you’re like me, and didn’t want to drive up to the reserve, book transportation through this. I was picked up from my hotel. There was a group that joined my car ride and we all traveled up to the reserve. The person driving you there, isn’t leading you through the Aquila Game reserve. He was very kind and i appreciated being there so i could focus on the scenic drive while he managed our transportation. Once we arrived at the game reserve, you essentially lounge on the property until lunch. After lunch, they consolidate all guests that seek to do the game drive. The park is large in acres but the animals seemed well positioned to be noticed one after the other. We got pretty close to them. It’s two hours long but that’s really b/c of all the stopping to view and take photos. I wouldn’t go again but it was nice to experience for a first time.
Fantastic day with Safari at Aquila, wine tasting at Fairview and great conversations with Joel! We were meters away from the Big 5, just a couple of hours from Cape Town, in a beautiful resort and a natural reserve.
Joel was absolutely amazing as our transporter to and from Aquila Game Reserve. He was punctual, courteous, and extremely accommodating from start to finish. Beyond just getting us there safely, Joel was informative and engaging, sharing helpful insights along the way, and his sense of humor made the entire ride enjoyable and relaxed. He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of, which truly elevated the experience. If you’re heading to Aquila, I highly recommend Joel. He’s professional, personable, and clearly takes pride in providing excellent service. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
I had a great time. I saw 4 of the big 5. Seeing the lions was a thrilling experience, i wouldn't wanted to have missed. Thank you Joel for a perfect day out in the wild. 😀
It was a great experience. Our guide Joel was very friendly. He picked us up right in front of the hotel and drove us to the reserve. He took care of everything so that we could enjoy the day without any stress. We were able to see the Big Five up close on the safari, and the lunch was also very good. The drive with Joel was also great. He told us a lot about the history of the city and gave us some great insights
Joel was an incredible tour guide, so informative and friendly! I felt safe, comfortable and full of enthusiasm during our entire time! Very great person lucky to have met!
Very interesting experience. Good service. Mr. Pol provided a transfer in/out with a story about the sights we passed. A very good team.

*5/5 Stars* Our visit to Aquila Game Reserve with guide Joel was unforgettable! He expertly spotted incredible animals and shared fascinating insights. The reserve is a hidden gem, teeming with wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Joel's knowledge and enthusiasm made our safari experience truly special. Highly recommended!
Very friendly driver and gave out a lot of info on way to the reserve. Was on time and met us before lunch and took us over to vehicle for game drive. It was so nice to just have our 6 family members together for the day.
Aquila Game Reserve (Cape town): A fantastic experience I never had before: I view the Big five: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo, some various also. I also played the drives game with 4X4 vehicles, really that was wonderful. Joel, you've been wonderful when explaining; Thank you and see you next time with my family.
Joel was a great driver. He was very friendly, helpful, and gave us lots of information about the country and its people. If we come back to Cape Town, we'll contact him again. I don't want to say much about the Aquila Private Game Reserve; everyone should form their own opinion. For me, it was more like a large safari zoo. But that's a matter of taste; all in all, we had a great day (especially thanks to Joel)!
Our guide Joel is an excellent guide from Cape Town, He showed us the big 5, we enjoyed the experience, we will surely recommend him to our friends when we get back home
It was wonderful. Our guide was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were back in time for a flight home. The safari was wonderful. We truly enjoyed the entire experience
Joel was our driver for the Aquila reserve trip from Cape Town. There was only one other customer on the tour so a lovely small group, just the four of us. Joel was super friendly and gave us lots of interesting commentary on the 2-hour drive to Aquila. We all sat together for lunch (buffet style with lots of choice) then Joel waved us off on the safari truck. We saw ostriches, lions, baboons, zebras, elephants, springboks, rhinos, hippo and giraffes. An amazing experience with treasured memories.
My guide Joel was awesome. He knows a lot about cape town and shared it to me. on the way to game reserves, so enjoyable. Thank you!
Joel is such an affable guy who took his time to show us the various scenic places on our way to the safari. I enjoyed my trip so much thanks to him!
Hi we hade a nice trip with Joel our tour guide and driver to Aquila reserve game ,the lunch was nice and we were very impressed close to all big 5 animals especially lions and elephants I will recommend you to use Joel for such beautiful adventure
Super safari day at Aquila. Journey through lovely wine lands and mountain scenery. Saw hippos, rhinos, zebra, ostriches, springboks, lions and the highlight, were closely followed by four elephants. Lunch good. Throughout kept well informed by Joel and felt thoroughly looked after. Picked up and dropped off at cruise port, as arranged.
Easy pick up and drop off and Joel was great! From Cape Town drove to Aquila Safari park and spent about 4 hours there.
The Trip was amazing! Joel was very informative and knowledgeable about the tour. The view was great!
Great guide speaks French good explanation humor very competent
Joel was our tour guide for the safari trip to Aquila Game Reserve. We enjoyed this day a lot. We were picked up on time and everything went as planned. Along the way Joel told us interesting facts about Cape Town. We definitely recommend him as a tour guide!
We spent a night in the Aquila Reserve and had a really impressive experience overall. We could actually see all of the Big Five – a moment you won’t forget anytime soon. The facility is very nicely laid out, spacious and overall also clean. The rooms are fine; they might be a little cleaner in some places, but you should bear in mind that you are on a reservation and must not compare it to a classic hotel. For us one night was absolutely sufficient. The two safari trips – one in the afternoon and one in the early morning – are more than enough to see the animals and enjoy the experience. We would not personally recommend several days, as the content of the trips hardly differs and it can seem a bit monotonous in the long run. The large pool is very nicely landscaped, but the water quickly appears polluted as soon as many guests stay in it at the same time. Therefore, we refrained from going in. Unfortunately, we could not fully agree with the general praise when eating. Lunch was good, but dinner didn’t really appeal to us – maybe we’re just a little pickier as Germans, but there was little suitable for us. We also had the repeated impression that guests were more likely to be “handled”. Already after the first drink we were brought the bill without asking for further wishes. This is a shame, especially since there is no entertainment or entertainment in the evening. For a stay in this price category, it seems a bit sobering that you can't do anything more from 8 p.m. Nonetheless, the safari itself was a great experience that we would definitely not want to miss. If you want to see the Big Five and get a taste of real safari air, this is definitely the place to be – we wouldn’t personally recommend just several days.
The Safari was spectacular and exciting, the travel guide for Aquila Game Reserve was very kind and explanatory: during the trip Joel told us about some South African places, from history to culture and various African customs, histories and traditions. Experience highly recommended.
