Awol were very prompt and professional from initial inquiry to proposal to billing and meeting and pickup. Guide Lucas was entertaining and informative throughout. I highly recommend Awol tours.

We love doing city bike tours as they are a great intro to the city, really help you the “lay of the land” and highlights things to go back to later and this tour was great for that. Lucas was highly knowledgeable and gave us great info on Cape Town’s history as we cycled around. Some real hidden gems on this tour - loved the Common Gardens and the break stop in Bo- kaap. The Cape Malay Koeksisters were amazing. Cycling the streets can be a little hairy as Cape Town is still setting itself up with good cycling infrastructure. Watch pedestrians - they don’t stop.
Great way to see Cape Town and Lucas was the perfect guide. Highly recommend
Really enjoyed the personalised nature with a guide to answer all my questions. We went into places that I wouldn't have been to otherwise and saw sites close up that I'd never been to even though I'd been to Cape Town before. Very comfortable pace which made me feel safe and secure. Highly recommend it.
Really enjoyed our tour with Vince as our guide. Our route was about 10k in total with plenty of stops over about three hours, with fascinating insights, observations and history at every stop. We saw and learned so much - which just wouldn’t have been possible on a guided walking tour or self guided. Recommended
Phoned up in the morning with no answer but then tried whatsapp and they responded immediately. Really helpful and efficient and sent pic of our guide Amber. Easy to find and park we were briefed and sized for our bikes. Helmets and water bottle (full) included. Amber was really helpful and friendly with good knowledge of the city and its sights. The tour took us all around and was not strenuous - a real way to experience local life. There was a shirt stop in Bo Kaap for a drink and taste of local snacks. We loved it Thanks
We did the bike tour through Cape Town with Awol Tours, booked via Baja Bikes, and it was an absolute highlight of our stay. Our guide, Gareth, truly made the experience exceptional. His relaxed, friendly approach immediately put everyone at ease, and his knowledge of Cape Town, its history, culture and daily life, is impressive. What stood out most was how he shared his stories: engaging, insightful and never rehearsed. Even though we have visited Cape Town no fewer than eight times, this tour was a very welcome and refreshing addition to our trips. Gareth showed us new perspectives, details and stories that we simply had not picked up before. All compliments to Gareth for an excellent tour. Highly recommended.
Great trip. Good way to see Cape Town - we covered all the main sites. Nice snacks and great guide. Easy cycling and gave a real sense of the city.
Highly recommended! You get a different feel for a city on a cycle. The pace is perfect and our leader, Gareth, is so clear with signals to the cars that you will feel at ease. The route allows you to see a lot in a short time without feeling rushed. It orients you well to the city, gives you great information about history and culture, and gets rid of that sluggish sitting-too-long-on-a-plane feeling!
It is a good way to see Cape Town, although the city is not made for cycling and we cycled next to cars that I found not very safe. You get a small snack that was delicious.
We appreciate Mike for such a great, colorful and fun tour! It was a perfect way to start our visit of Cape Town and get a feel for the streets and position ourselves.
We enjoyed our cycling tour a lot! We booked it for our first day in Cape Town and it gave us a nice overview of the highlights and the structure of the city. The stories were interesting and fun to listen to and the guides really made us having a good time. It gave us enough history insights to enjoy the city even more after.
The bike tour was a fun way to see the city, the guide had a lot of information about the city. It is easy yo do for all ages as long as you know how to ride a bicycle. The only negative thing is the price. It is more expensive to go on a three hour bike tour than to rent a car for a day. €60 pp makes it an extremely expensive trip.
A great way to see the city of Cape town. A good knowledgeable guide who managed to keep us altogether through the busy streets, whilst we also felt safe. Lots of time to take photographs, drinks were provided with a nice stop off for local refreshments in Bo Kaap too. We didn't choose Ebikes and the route was manageable including one steep climb up to our refreshment stop. Thank you for a great morning and introduction to Cape Town.
We always do either a ycling tour of city or Guru walk to establish where things are when you first arrive . Very good guide. Lots of facts and history related to South Africa and Capetown. Helmets and water supplied. Nice treat when stopped at little family run cafe
Had a fantastic tour with Lucas. He took us to several key spots in Capetown and shared his exceptional historical knowledge. Great tour! 6 Stars! Highly recommend!
We had a great tour with Mike, good bikes, lots of time for pictures and story’s, about the history, and we had a nice break with a local dish.
Great overview of the city! Best way to start your time in Cape Town. Snacks were also delicious and a good sampling of the food. Only complaint would be we spent too long in front of the map talking instead of an interesting part of the city
Lucas guided our tour, he was very knowledgeable and we managed to see a lot of parts of this beautiful city. Highly recommend
Garrett was our guide and we were lucky to have him to ourselves - just 2 of us with him. Everything worked like a charm and he proved to be seriously knowledgeable, warm and personable. Don’t hesitate to book AWOL and if he’s available, ask for Garrett.
Cycling around the city was great, the guide is absolutely necessary for that! More appealing narrative on the city highlights would be appreciated
This tour took us around the central city to historic sites and local cultural highlights. Our guide led us confidently and carefully through the crowded streets to numerous stops where she explained what we were seeing. It was a fun, non-strenuous was to see the city and get a little exercise!
Fantastic tour! Lola was our guide. We had frequent stops at interesting places. Well planned and explained. Highly recommend!
A great way to get a feel on the ground of this exciting and beautiful city. Although Cape Town may not be your typical bike-friendly city, our capable guide got us around safely and we covered a lot of ground, and learned a lot of history. A terrific tour!
We had a fantastic morning discovering Cape Town. Cycling was the easiest way to see as much as we could and the perfect way to start our holiday. Our guide Gabriel was really knowledgeable- we wished he could have been around for our whole holiday to answer all our questions! I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Cape Town for the first time.
A really safe and fun way to see Cape Town! Great guide! Lots of history and interesting sights and scenery along the coast
My sister and I did the Capetown cycling tour, in total we were 4 persons, which makes a noce group. We had a nice time with Lucas, he explained a lot about the history of Capetown and showed us nice places and also told us some personal stories, gave time to make pictures. He got us safe trough the traffic and the bikes were in good condition. The only thing is that sometimes he speaks fast and with his accent it's sometimes difficult to understand him properly. But all in all it was a nice experience and I would recommend other people to do this tour.
Really good trip. Our guide, Derreck, was full of information and happy to share. Definitely recommended to get a great view of different parts of the city. Old and new.
Excellent way of exploring the city and learning history. Along with some exercise it makes a superb few hours in what is an interesting place. Gareth our guide was a good communicator with a host of facts to impart, along with giving us safe guidance on the roads. Thoroughly recommend.
My wife and I wanted to see the layout of city at the beginning of our stay in Cape Town. Lucas our guide was really excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. He took us round the most important parts of the city. Much of the route was flat and easy to navigate. We would not hesitate to recommend AWOL tours.
Really great trip round Cape Town. Lucas was an excellent guide, really knowledgeable. There is one steep hill on the tour but you can get off and push the bike if it’s a struggle, you are rewarded with some lovely food at the top though so it’s totally worth it!
Cities are always best explored by bikes and Cape Town even more so. More than interesting tour with Gabriël as an excellent guide!
Gareth, our guide, made this a beautiful and historical trip to a great experience 😊 Loads of history.Professional set up, good information and good quality of the bicycles . Small groups 🙏🏻
Viator never reacts on our request of changing booking and partly refund. You pay much too mich with them. Excessive price . You can better contact awol toirs directly as they are very friendly and well informed of the beauty of Capetown
With a group of 7 we cruised through cape town. Our guide Lucas told is do many facts! Awsome. During the tour we had a small break at Faeeza’s home kitchen. Very tastefull. Alltogether the tour took about 3 hours, was quite easy and had only a little slope. Just fo it if you have time!
For my mind there’s nothing better to gain an understanding of an unfamiliar city than to ride a bike. And what’s more rewarding is to be part of a tour whose guide leads the group to give a vivid explanation on the city’s landmarks and diverse neighborhoods. With AWOL Bike Tours in Cape Town, the company provided solid bikes to ride on while enjoying the sites, all the while its tour guide, Dave, gave us a unique perspective of his city, its history and its multifaceted culture. We not only received a colorful explanation from him about Cape Town’s past and present, but he led the way to each site explaining those historic events, answering each question fully. We had read about South Africa and the controversies surrounding Cape Town in the recent past, and to see with our own eyes where they took place is certainly a memorable experience. Dave’s passion describing these recent events was illuminating—and he left no stone unturned. The bike riding is easy and Dave always checked to make sure we were comfortable. He even provided a tasty treat midway through our ride to fill the calories we had expanded while peddling. Highly recommended.
A brilliant tour with Rodrigue as our expert guide whose knowledge of the city, its history and heritage was passed on to us with passion and humour - a really lovely guy !
Great city cycling tour guided by Mike. The pace was easy enough to accommodate all riders with numerous stops where he provided a lot of great information about Cape Town. He also gave us some safety tips and restaurant recommendations which we appreciated!
DlFun, informative, and good bike to boot, Great way to experience Cape Town from the ground. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.
We really enjoyed our cycling tour with Gareth. He knows a lot about South African history and kept us safe in the busy friday afternoon traffic! The tour also includes delicious local snacks. The bikes are really good quality.
Our cycling tour was a fantastic way to explore the city. Joel was an amazing guide. He showed us the sites but also included the history of the city in an interesting and engaging way. A great way to get a feel for the city along with understanding and context. Our tour was on a Sunday which was beneficial because of less traffic. Highly recommend.
The guided cycling tour is a great way to get acquianted with the history of the city in a relaxed manner. Along the way we discovered it's dutch origins, the arrival of the british and the impact of apartheid on the city. In Bo-Kaap we got treated on some nice local delicacies.
Amazing way to get to know the city Capetown. Gareth was a very nice guide and learnt us more about the history, culture, nature, the must visits and much more.
Awesome experience! Mike was knowledgeable, patient and open to suggestion. Tour includes various sites, sounds, and tastes!
I had a very nice time on this tour. It was my first day in Cape Town, so this was a great way to learn different parts of the city, some history, and get ideas for the rest of my time here. Lelo was a wonderful guide, very informative and friendly.
Very fun and interesting bike tour where you learn a lot about Cape Town's history and visit many important places. Tour takes place in relaxed atmosphere. Our guide (Rodriguez) gave plenty of room for questions and also gave pride for museums. The tasty snack in Bo-kaap was a nice bonus (provided by Awol)
Joel our guide was fantatsic - we did the private guide option and there were three of us so had plenty of detailed input via Joel who not only explained the history in all its different parts to how Cape Town is where it now is, which is vital given the misperception of everything just being about apartheid, but explains the different cultures, sections of society, the politics and the whole reality of living here today. Went to see the key places, great snack stop in Beau Kaap and the chance to saunter into local artists at their work. And get plenty of good cycle options to try out down the coast to Canps Bay and Haut Bay. Definately the best way to see the city and see local good spots. Highly recommend !!
A brilliant tour ran by Michele as our guide. Gave us a real feel for the city and included loads of information. One I will definitely be recommending to anyone travelling to Cape town
Did the city-tour with the enthusiastic guide Joel. He jumped on his bike, on the street, on the sidewalk, on the street again...and so on. We've kindly followed him😄. Joel learned us a lot about the history of Capetown, the apartheid, places to be and not to be. Short break in Bo-Kaap with some excellent local snacks. We've enjoyed the tour and would recommend to do it to learn more about the city.
Enjoyable biking tour with a passionate guide who tells us a lot about the history of Cape Town. Highly recommended……..
