We took a ride with Jeff as a family, and everything went great. Jeff picked us up right on time at our lodging. The car was very clean, he gave us some great tips for our stay in South Africa, and we had a lot of fun together. We highly recommend Jeff. He’s the best driver in town. Best regards, Tobias and family

Itinerary
We start our beautiful day by collecting you at your accommodation in Cape Town between 8:30 and 9:30am. After all pick ups have been completed, we will drive along the N1 for approximately 2 hours before we reach the game reserve in the little karoo. Along the way, your expert tour guide driver will tell you the history surrounding the areas and towns which you will see along the way.
Aquila Reserve is a private game reserve with a limit as to the number of animals they are allowed to keep and cannot be compared to a national park like the Kruger. We cannot guarantee that you will see all the animals during your game drive as this is dependent on nature. Upon arrival at Aquila, you will receive a welcome drink. Then you will proceed to the restaurant where a full buffet lunch will be served. Soon after lunch, you will embark on a 2 to 3-hour game drive in an open truck or 4x4 with a small group, depending on the truck size. Look out for Big 5 animals as well as smaller animals, including lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, zebra.
After this amazing experience you will meet your tour guide and depart for your return journey to Cape Town. Drop off will be back at your accommodation.

I enjoyed the experience i got to see all the animals and i am pleased. Jeff was knowledgeable as well
Our driver Jeff Mathenga started the experience very well on our drive to the reserve he was very knowledgeable. The Aquila reserve is beautiful. There was even a performance during the delicious buffet lunch. Our guide on the safari was new but had so much knowledge and was really funny. We got close to lions, zebras, rhinos, a family of giraffes, buffaloes…. Perfect
We had a really good experience with this activity. The transfer to the reserve was uncomplicated and our driver Gordon was really the best! He was nice, fun and reliable. He texted on the evening before so we knew at what time he would arrive and kept us updated. On the way he gave us some infos about the surrounding and we could ask questions but also just enjoy the drive. At the reserve everything is well organized. Because of the weather we had to stop the safari but were able to go again when the rain stopped and even though it wasn’t in the timetable anymore Gordon waited for us, which we really appreciated
Brilliant experience. Since the moment of the transfer with Gordon, and the entire day at the safari. Good price for time spent, the 2hours transfer from Cape Town and the amazing lunch! Good environment. Thanks again to Gordon for waiting for us a few more hours due to unexpected hail storm so safari had to stop.
It was a very nice experience. We enjoyed the lunch at venue. The tour guide was fantastic and very informative. The animals were beautiful. I really liked the giraffes. Cape town is such a beautiful place with amazing landscapes and history. So we had an amazing time
My husband and I traveled to Cape Town with a group of friends in March of 2025. The Aquila 5 Big Game tour was great. Our transportation driver, Gordon, was informative and very personable. He made the 2 hour drive each way enjoyable. Tyler, our safari guide was great at locating the animals. We were able to see 4 of the big 5 game animals and more. The ul close photos was a lifetime opportunity. The buffet lunch had something for everyone and the food was delicious. Thanks to our driver and guide we had a wonderful experience.
Was an awsome Trip , super nice driver, we saw all of the big five and had a lot of fun with our group, I would defenitly do it again .
Amazing place to go see majority of the animals, absolutely great with all the information about the animals that you see. Wilson my driver too and from aquila was very knowledgeable about the things and place on the way. Thanks to all involved 🙌
We had a great day at Aquila Game Reserve. Our driver Wilson was super nice. Not only did he know a lot about the country, he was also able to tell us lots of interesting stories about the flora and fauna as well as the historical history of Cape Town. It was fun and very interesting to listen to the stories.
The website and marketing are very misleading as it’s more of a glorified zoo. There’s no big 5, as they are missing a leopard. Only two giraffes and three male elephants on the farm. The saddest part was the malnourished lion that’s on his death bed, they apparently have more but it’s hidden in the mountains. The lions are also kept separate from the wildlife and are fed by the rangers as they are rescued lions and can’t hunt in the wild. All in all a very lack lustre experience and a total rip off for the price charged. A real pity for the international tourists who expect to see Africa at its finest but actually get a budget safari at absorbent rates.
We drove to the reserve through the stunning mountains and vineyards, and when we got there were serve a beautiful buffet lunch before we set off on the safari. Our guide Max was very informative and entertaining, we saw Rhino, Lion, Giraffe, Zebras, Ostrich and Elephants. Just make sure you are wrapped up as it is windy on the truck and can be chilly as it is situated up in the mountains. A brilliant day out. we took the afternoon safari but it was plenty of time to see everything.
We started out early in morning. Our guide was Felix. Trip up to Aquila was 2 1/2 hours but what a beautiful drive. Once we arrived, we were severed sparkling wine and then had buffet breakfast. We then took off on the safari to catch the Big Five which we almost did. We saw 4 of the Big 5. The only one we didn’t see was the sneaky Leopard. We saw Elephants, Lions, Giraffe’s, Water Buffalo, Hippo’s, Rino’s, Ostrich and Antelopes. What a spectacular day! After we finished the safari, we had a buffet lunch and then headed to Fairway Winery for a wine and cheese tasting. The winery was also a great spot to stop and try some of the fantastic South African wines. We came back with 3 of our favorite tastings. It was then back to Cape Town. Our driver, Felix was very knowledgeable and was a fantastic guide. Would definitely recommend this tour. It is a long day but well worth it.
In itself it was quite a nice day that started with a friendly driver who picked us up at the hotel and brought us to Aquila. After a two hours drive (or a little less) meanwhile listening to driver telling about the history of the Cape, we arrived in Aquila where we were welcomed with the South-African equivalent of champagne (at 8.30 am). After a good breakfast, one of the "rangers" from Aquila drove us through the park in a safari truck for 3 hours. Certainly entertaining, both by the number of wild animals that you see and by the stories of the ranger. We spotted 2 elephants, 1 lion, a few buffalo's, hippo's and rhino's, springboks, zebra's, ostriches, elands and one snake. Be aware, however, that most of these animals undoubtedly walked (not the snake) around this region centuries ago, but have now been brought here from other parts of South Africa to entertain the tourists. After returning to the game resort we were offered an extensive and delicious lunch and could enjoy the swimming pool before we were brought back to Cape Town. A nice end to the day was also a wine tasting with goat cheese at the Fairview Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch area.
Great experience with a friendly couple Our driver Gift was very nice thank you bcq
Indescribable experience I can recommend to anyone
It was a wonderful experience and our driver Gordon was great. We saw a wide variety of animals including 4 from the big five. Very well organized
Good excursion, the Aquila reserve is very good and we saw many animals...however the animals seem very used to tourists!
The whole trip was perfectly organized. We were picked up by our driver Mr Wilson friendly and punctual. During the ride Wilson explained a lot about the surroundings, country and people! The Aquila Game Reserve was very, very nice! Everything very clean and the food very good! On the exciting ride we could really observe all the animals up close! Finally Wilson brought us back to the hotel - Mr Wilson was a perfect driver on a perfect day! Thanks to the whole team!!!🤩
