The overall experience was absolutely fantastic! The two safari rides were different from each other, making the experience more diverse, and exciting. One of the safaris offered the chance to spot all of the Big Five, although we didn’t get to see the big cats. That’s part of the beauty of a safari — these are wild, free-roaming animals, and sightings can never be guaranteed. The optional elephant encounter, which came at an additional fee, was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the experience. It was such a special and joyful moment that made the trip even more memorable. The three-star hotel accommodation was also excellent, with cute and comfortable rooms, warm hospitality, and a delicious breakfast to start each day. And a special shout-out to our tour guide, Katlego, who truly made a difference in our experience! His excellent time management, thoughtful stops along the way in both directions, and rich insights into the local culture and history made the long drives fun and enjoyable rather than tiring. He was also attentive to everyone in the group and made sure each party felt considered and included. His knowledge, thoughtfulness, and professionalism really elevated the entire trip. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable safari adventure!

Itinerary
Day 1
1
This safari-focused 2 day tour gives you unforgettable opportunities to see some of Africa’s wildlife in their natural habitat. The trip is fast paced; including transport, stays and two different 4x4 game drives. Depart from the tour's Meeting Point at 6:45am in Cape Town, or if booked early you can arrange hotel pickup from 5km of central city. Your journey will begin as you leave the silhouette of Table Mountain behind to trade it for the scenery of the Klein Karoo to visit a Garden Route region game reserve. The first wildlife reserve is about 450 km away from Cape Town ( about 6 hours away - subject to additional rest stops in between). Spot some of Africa’s Big 5 wild animals from the back of an open 4x4 vehicle at Botlierskop, a malaria-free private game reserve near Mossel Bay. Search for giraffe, white rhino, kudu, lion, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, to name a few. The game drive is led by an experienced game ranger, sharing knowledge of the local wildlife.
The scenery during the next 50 miles changes dramatically from green to dusty dull greys as you reach the relatively arid region of the Klein Karoo and the ostrich capital of the world, Oudtshoorn. Enjoy an evening of free time in Oudtshoorn, relaxing at your accommodation. Ask your guide to book an optional "braai" barbecue dinner at the backpackers (subject to availability) to sample ostrich meat ("sosaties") and homemade bread ("pot brood"), or explore the region's other dining options to sample a variety of local dishes. The guide can help pre-book your dining preference with top restaurants of the region. Please Note > This day-by-day itinerary serves as a guideline as your trip may need to run in reverse or a different order based on seasonal or operational availability. ==== Accommodation included - subject to availability and stay package selected during booking: Dorm/Saver Own Room> Uthando Backpackers, 3*Comfort> 88 Baron van Reede Guesthouse, 4*Luxury> Buffelsdrift Lodge
Day 2
2
After breakfast, jump straight into the thick of the Klein Karoo bush this morning as you set out on an open-topped 4x4 bush drive to seek out some more of Africa’s animals, including Cape buffaloes and African elephants at Buffelsdrift Private Game Reserve. Your expert guide and ranger will help spot wildlife, you may see zebras, wildebeests, giraffes - just to name a few. This "bush drive safari" focuses more getting close to nature; insects and plants as the reserve is not home to many big game species. This nature bush drive is focused on explaining and exploring the ecosystem and smaller wildlife of this Klein Karoo region.
Those seeking a meaningful nature experience can join rangers on an Elephant Observation experience (optional at extra fees)with a nature walk to have the opportunity to see these three rescued elephants in their natural environment. You'll learn about these gentle giants as you see them roam freely in their bushvelt habitat, under the watchful eye of the elephant guides.
End off a seemingly perfect day with a drive along Route 62, the longest wine route in the world! Capture the beauty of high mountains, twisting passes, rugged Karoo plains during this approximately 450 km journey - that's about 5 to 6 hours subject to weather and traffic, lunch and other rest stops before arriving in Cape Town by evening (between 7pm to ± 9pm).

Maudi was an excellent guide—kind, smart, and very informative. He was always punctual, drove safely, and made the whole experience enjoyable and memorable. Highly recommended!
Having booked a 5 day safari with the expert help of Isabelle Evans at Audley travel,we experienced a trip of a lifetime ! We flew from Heathrow to Johannesburg South Africa and were met and escorted every step of our journey to Thornybush Private Game Reserve Siviti lodge. On arrival we were certainly not disappointed by our welcome from the staff nor the spacious and private accommodation. Our safari guide driver Lucas and tracker Yaya were delightful and were so knowledgeable. It was not only the safari and seeing the animals so close but the nice little added touches of stopping for coffee and muffins one morning and a couple of sundowners for a g&t in the bush but the finale had to be the whole catering team appearing in the bush cooking breakfast !! That definitely gave us the wow factor. Our return journey was also trouble free from when we left the lodge until our final escort left us at the departure gate ready for our flight to Heathrow. To summarise, it was amazing !
I wish I could give 15 stars! This was an incredible trip and TK was the perfect guide; he hosted us as if we were visiting family! He picked us up promptly at our hotel in Cape Town, before the sun even came up. He was a safe and courteous driver for the 5+ hours to Oudtshoorn and a comfortable conversationalist, on so many topics, which really helped pass the time on two days of long drives. He had bottled waters for us, stopped at charming, clean and comfortable stops along the way so we could buy snacks and souvenirs and have a comfort break. He shared his power bank and charging cable when my battery ran down from taking way too many photos of the beautiful scenery along the way. He was efficient, attentive to details and made sure we had prompt and excellent service at each stop. He was knowledgeable about the areas we passed through and South African history so we learned a lot! The tour itself was incredibly beautiful, both exciting and peaceful. The safari guides at Buffelsdrift and Botlierskop were knowledgeable, dedicated and wonderfully interactive and responsive, answering all of questions with interesting facts and context. Taura and Innocent were great drivers on the bouncy outback roads. You could see their determination and commitment to maximizing the number of wildlife views we had. They worked well with fellow guides to communicate sightings. They gave us all the time we needed to enjoy being near a host of animals, sitting quietly with the engine off till our hearts were full! We couldn't believe how close we were able to view and photograph the animals and we learned so much about each group. Sometimes it was just wonderful to bask near the animals, in the glow of the sun. We were also thrilled with the elephant experience at Buffelsdrift and highly recommend that! The trainers were personable and took excellent photos and videos of us feeding the elephants. We learned so much about these amazing animals there. We stayed overnight in one of the luxury tents at Buffelsdrift which was fantastic, so comfortable and well appointed! Since it was fall and the weather had been cooler, it was a chilly experience but the heat in the tent and the heated mattress cover made it so cozy. It was truly an awesome experience to sit on the back porch of the tent, overlooking the watering hole and the animals and birds who chatted to each other, under the breathtaking colors of the setting African sun. The dining room was so elegant and the food was fantastic at both dinner and breakfast! Great service, too. The lunch the next day at Botlierskop was also delicious and beautifully prepared. The trip back with TK was even more relaxed than the day before and he continued to be the consummate host! He was unflappable, interesting, and excited about our wonderful experiences. We still miss him and our time in South Africa's amazing nature!!
The 4* tent room was nice . I didn’t know that this tour paid for our dinner so that was a bonus for us. The long hours drive (about 6 hours) was a torture for me. Also the Botlierskop does not have any lions to see. Maybe they have the lions and they kept it somewhere but the tour guide didn’t take us to see the lions.
This was a phenomenal experience! Big G who led our group is extremely knowledgeable, considerate, and kind! I would let him take us anywhere! We had success at the two safaris with seeing many animals. With limited safari options in the area, this was fantastic. I would highly recommend booking this!
It was an amazing experience! Denver was such nice guy and good driver. We had a really good time on the tour!
Dylan Curtis was the best! High energy and very positive! Great experience and the safari’s were AWESOME! Never stop believing in yourself Dylan!!!! -⚡️
This trip was fabulous. We had a great tour guide that showed us so many picture taking moments. See lots of animals. Def gotta do the elephant sanctuary. That was my favorite part of the trip. Feeding them.
This was a good 2 day tour. I really enjoyed visiting the game reserves; both safaris were really great experiences and felt like positive ecotourism. The Hlangana hotel was also very comfortable and I would definitely recommend staying there! Our guide Paul was very approachable and drove well. Overall, I really enjoyed it but going into it I didn't realise how much driving this involves. It was 1200 or so km in 36 hours so it's a lot of minibus time and sitting down. That was ok because the bus was cool and comfy!
This two-day Safari was amazing! This was my first ever Safari and I really enjoyed it! The best part was when I got to interact with the elephants, this was unreal! I didn’t get a chance to see the lions but other than that it was great! Maudi, our tour guide was the best. He is very knowledgeable about Cape Town and did a great job keeping us entertained! I would definitely recommend!
We had a fantastic tour guide and our accommodations at the luxury 3 star bed and breakfast were wonderful. It was a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very cool experience. Added on the elephant experience which added a memorable element to the safari.
My stay in Cape Town I visited Wildlife Tour using their 4x4 I have say that they have knowledge of what they are doing
Epic trip, it is a lot of driving but Uriel was a great guide and kept us informed and entertained! The safaris, especially on the second day, were fantastic. I don’t think you could do safari better with 2 days to and from Cape Town. Uriel went above and beyond to look after us. Thanks so much Uriel and team!
Great trip, great guide, animals were amazing. Staff was helpful - then took the elephant walk. If you are wondering about the trip, just book it!
Excellent tour, well organised and interesting, gives a good overview over the Karoo area and good safaris in private reserves. We saw the Animals, got interesting details about them and enjoyed the trip as a whole. Our guide Nev (Siyabulela) made sure we were all on time, informed and happy and made out experience truly inique, giving us also a lot of personal details and sharing experiences with us. Would definitely recommend him and the tour!
Great 2-day Safari experience! Perfect for people who have limited time in South Africa and want to experience a Safari nearby Cape Town! We loved it!
An unforgettable 2-Day Safari, absolutely incredible! I joined the 2-Day Wildlife & Safari Tour with Hotspots2C, and it turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of my entire South Africa trip. Everything was perfectly organised from start to finish. Our guide, Neville, was outstanding, knowledgeable, funny, and always making sure everyone had the best possible experience. He created such a great atmosphere in the group that it felt like travelling with friends rather than strangers. The safari itself was amazing: 🦁 beautiful wildlife 🦓 breathtaking scenery 🛖 comfortable accommodation 🐘 and so many unforgettable moments. I also loved how the tour supports local community projects. It feels good knowing that part of the booking contributes to something meaningful. And honestly… this trip was special for me on a personal level too, I met wonderful people along the way. Hotspots2C delivered an experience I will never forget.
This was a fantastic and well organised experience. We travelled with Neville he was friendly, knowledgeable and was a great guide. There was plenty of rest stops as this is a long journey and the rest stops were stunning. We also stayed in the guesthouse and this was fantastic and the hosts were lovely and welcoming. Both Safaris were beautiful and well organised, we saw all the animals that were available and had knowledgable guides who were also friendly, funny and welcoming. Would so recommend this experience, it is a great way to see the western cape and learn about the area and people. Only improvement needed would love to have had WiFi on the bus and a more modern vehicle.
An amazing safari over 2 days with our excellent , informative and very funny tour guide Mr Nev . At both reservations we were close up to many beautiful creatures although the 2 lions were too shy to say hello on this tour - perhaps next time . Accommodation excellent . Recommendations for meals by Mr Nev ticked all the boxes. Loads comfort stops and a wee podcast completed our most amazing tour . It will not disappoint so don’t even think about just go ahead and book
Simply an amazing tour! Both the bush and safari drives were amazing but also very different giving a unique experience with both. The guesthouse in Oudtshoorn was a heritage building and only enhanced the experience to make the trip even better. It can be a long drive in and out of Cape Town but the guide Denver knows the perfect moments to take the group through history and nature but also when rest is required. An absolute must whilst in Cape Town, you will never forgot this journey.
The tour was informative, it covered more than just the safari. We received history lessons, area trends and tendencies. Our tour guide was very informative
This tour was AMAZING! The tour guides, 2 Safaries, Bnb stay, & the people in our group were AMAZING! Could not of asked for a better time!
Most amazing trip! Our guide Denver was absolutely incredible and made the experience unforgettable with his kindness, sense humor, and communication. Would absolutely recommend this safari to anyone interested! Thank you Denver!! So grateful!
Absolutely Amazing. Highly Recommended. Our tour Guide Neville was fantastic. He was very experienced and had eveything planned perfectly. The Glamping Accommodation in the Tents on the Dam with Hippos in it was also great.
This experience was A+ from the beginning to the end.Our guide and driver,Gherard, was amazing, very entertaining, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and looked like he loves his job. He made the long drives feel shorter. He picked us up in our hotel in Stellenbosch and dropped us at our next hotel in Cape Town.We made a few stops for coffee and food and to stretch our kegs. The drives in both reserves Botlierskop and Buffelsdrift were fantastic. We got to see the Big Five, and for an extra charge, we got to walk with the elephants, money well spent. They were 2 totally different experiences but both equally amazing. We overnighted at the charming Oakdene Guest House, where Daniel the host greeted us and treated us to a fantastic breakfast in the morning. They made reservations for us that night to have a delicious dinner at Ebony and Ivory. There were 8 of us at the van, and we got along so well, even though we all were from different countries. We ended up swapping phone numbers in the end. Overall it was the perfect experience. The drive was long but so worth it once we got there. Being amongst all the wildlife in their own habitat and not feeling like it was a zoo was priceless. Definitely recommend this tour.

Amazing trip and great driver We got to see the big five and we enjoyed the road trip with Mr. Olrich I totally recommend it 👌
I had the most incredible experience ever! From the moment Ulrich -our amazing guide- picked me up from the hotel, everything went just so perfect! Every person I have met was warm, welcoming, and truly passionate about their job! The 2 game drives were both unforgettable and we were able to see elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos and so many other animals in their natural environment. Both guides were extremely knowledgeable and made every sighting special by sharing fascinating facts and stories about the wildlife and the landscape. The 2 reserves were wonderful, authentic, and surrounded by nature, making it easy to completely disconnect and enjoy the atmosphere. The food was delicious, and every detail was thought through to make our stay memorable. What stood out most was the sense of respect for the animals and the environment as well as the in depth historical knowledge of the whole business. It didn’t feel rushed or touristy but rather a genuine and mindful experience. I totally recommend to book this activity to anyone visiting South Africa and Cape Town especially. Thank you very much and keep up with the excellent work! :)
It's been wonderful two days, full of unique experiences. Stunning views and animals. It was also great experience talking to elephant caretakers and safari guides and learning about their work. Great thanks to our amazing guide Denver, who's very caring, knowledgeable, and humorous. His passion and love to his community and people is very touching too.
It's a good tour enjoyed with my friends' great African ppl. Great staff. In capetown at night after 9 pm, it's curfew so unsafe n dangerous.
Our first time in South Africa and first safari, we didn’t know what to expect and ….WOW! We have been blown away by this experience. We loved the long drive through scenic Agricultural regions with canola fields in full bloom, mountainous vistas in every direction and our guide, Denver’s expert commentary. It was so good to get out of the city and see the rural areas. Lovely lunches and comfort stops along the way. The first safari at Botlierskop Reserve was truly amazing, with close-up encounters with many animals, including lions, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, zebras and many more. An expert guide with Austin, we were in awe! Our accommodation at Bufflesdrift blew us away with the location and glamping experience, including the hippos floating around in the lake in front of our tent! Dinner amazing, tried local delicacies of ostrich and kingclip and loved them. The elephant experience was unforgettable, and the guides very knowledgeable. The second safari very interesting with Euan as our guide, very knowledgeable of plants and bird species. The animals were harder to spot in their lush natural habitat, but still a fabulous experience to drive around the reserve in an open jeep spotting wildlife along the way. Driving home along Route 62, spectacular scenery and enjoyable company. Very pleased to know local charities will receive a contribution from our booking. Please consider this when choosing your safari tour!
This is an absolute must do experience. Me and my wife had a limited time in south Africa. So we decided to book the 2 day safari experience. And we could not have been happier with our decision. Our tour guide Maudi went above and beyond and made the entire journey so enjoyable. Whilst on the safari we got to see an amazing variety of animals from walking with the elephants to seeing cheetahs, rhinos, buffalo and so much more... I would highly recommend paying the extra to do the elephant walk. It's a once in a life time experience. All of the animals on both reserves seemed very happy and healthy. We couldn't be happier with our time on safari
The tour was amazing, i loved it! Special thanks to our guide, Mr Nev. He is very very very kind and helpful, i’ll never forget him 🩷
Amazing experience, well organised, friendly team. You MUST do the elephant walk, it’s a fascinating and humbling experience. The safaris are in private game reserves, so don’t expect vast savanna and huge herds of animals, but it is still 100% worth going as you do get to see animals living fully freely in their natural environments in beautiful nature!
This is so much worth it. We got to do so many things in such a short time. Definitely worth it! The hostel was amazing, it's like no other I've been to. And food was great! We got to try some typical south african dishes.
Good organization, excellent group and still better guide-driver, Denver. Route 62 is an outstanding sightseeing..
The Safire was great, absolutely great, both. The overnigt stay was only for 2 stars. Wind ind the room, cold. Breakfast okay. Driver from capetown okay. Especially the first ranger was very god. Overall, not a trip I would take again, moseley because of the long trip from capetown to destination.
I had a great stay during this safari! It was just incredible and unforgettable, it's the first time I've done an enriching safari! I totally recommend this stay!
The guide Dylan is a very good person! The 2 day tour was really good. I recommend this magnificent safari, it is an experience not to be missed! "Life is an experience", thank you for that Dylan
Good expérience ! It was a very nice activity i was able to see animals that i have never seen before . The second safari was much more interesting than the first
The Safari tour was very good, the guide Dylan tour is incredible he was verry funny. I recommend that !! The accomodation was verry good too.
the guide Dylan was so funny, we saw a lot of animals during the 2 days tour, i have learn a lot about the animals and the acomodation was realy good!
Our experience was amazing. We had a great guide, everything was well planned, the safaris were great, and the accommodation was perfect.
Excellent tour for our family of 5. Two very good safaris, a comfortable road trip through a beautiful landscape and a nice night in the countryside of S.Africa with a delicious dinner. Auriel has been an excellent tour guide, very capable, knowledgeable and kind. Totally recomandable!
We had a great time as a group or 10 people with Dylan who accompanied us, sharing his culture and love of his country. The Safari were great it was very nice.
Just returned from taking my family on the 2 day Safari trip from Cape Town. We had a magical time. Our cultural guide for the 2 days was Denver who was excellent. He took care of everything and made the long drive very comfortable. Everywhere we stopped everyone knew him which made us feel very safe. The two game reserves we visited were amazing. A highlight for us was the 4 star glamping accommodation at Buffelsdrift and then meeting the Elephants in the morning. If you're in Cape Town and want to experience a Safari without committing to a long time then I'd recommend this trip. And see if you can get Denver as your guide!
Amazing adventure with my Dad and the best part of our adventure so far, lots to see with the incredible scenery and wildlife. The journey was made easy by our culture guide and driver 'denver' who was extremely kind and welcoming. We also learnt lots about the history and location of where we where travelling through. The two Safari's were outstanding with cheetahs to baby meerkats. Would highly recommend the extra with elephants. Overall absolutely incredible! Trip of a life time which I will never forget. Ollie B-B Age: 15
My father took me and my family on this experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our driver and cultural guide Denver was very friendly and knowledgeable, telling us all about the areas we passed through and also South Africa in general. When we arrived on safari we saw many interesting animals including giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, elephants, and meerkats. The views were brilliant. Despite getting caught in a torrential storm on the way back Denver made sure we all got home safe and sound. I would highly recommend this tour. Sam B-B age 17
Super Organized. Our driver Maury did a great job. The both safari were really interesting, with nice animals like lions, cheetahs, elephants,…. The hotel in an old house was very good too, with nice breakfast.
