Great location but a dated hotel with cheaper alternatives for a better experience. The location is great and parking very convenient with spacious rooms but there are a number of significant shortcomings. No power sockets beside each side of the bed..the closest are under the desk and not within reach to power phones,iPads etc. when in bed or overnight. The A/C units are dated and noisy when they cut in and out. There is a kettle and coffee machine but only one plug so you have to pull out the fridge to change plugs. The hallway carpets have risen at the joints and are a real trip hazard. The staff are helpful and attentive but the rooms are letting the place down

Bedrooms lovely. Bathroom we had needs work. Shower over bath, very big chips in the enamel of the bath. Tiles were painted over instead of replaced. Breakfast buffet very good, Dinner service as well as getting your tea/coffee in the morning very slow, painfully, by European standards. There is no such thing as a quick breakfast.
We have stayed at the Commodore a few times and have always been happy with the service we have received. The rooms are comfortable and we love the view from our room which looks out onto the marina. The food has been amazing and the portions very generous. Lovely lounge area to relax and sit infront of a fire during the chilly months. Close enough to the airport approximately a 30 minutes drive as well as walking distance to the V&A Waterfront.
I stayed twice at this hotel, 1 for business and 1 for leisure. Experience overall is really good, kind staff at the bar and at the breakfast. Biggest plus is the location. The second time our room was facing towards the garden and there was a really loud fan outside which had created a high noise. If you are extra sensitive to noise, better be careful.
The hotel overall was great, the staff was always friendly and the whole aura of the hotel is great. However, they can definitely give some attention to the following items: 1) There are some areas with excessive dust collection - on the air vents in the one atrium when exiting the lifts on my way to my room. 2) The chairs in the dining room are wonky and in need of repair. 3) The floor of the dining room is in a terrible state and in need of replacement - duct tape is not the solution
