This review is very personal, you are not coming to this location for a hotel room, but to experience the delights of food, wine and nature... Steenberg Hotel & Spa is a refreshing change from what we consider a hotel to be or indeed should be... This hotel almost feels like a home stead or farm, it's much more than a hotel room and if you love romantic stroles, reading or finding a quiet place to rest and recharge, then you will love this wine lovers hotel... As a golfer, I loved this hotel experience it was #Fantastic and By-the-way, the food and staff really make you feel at home... If you are looking for a different experience, then this is the spot to try and #Different means good, peaceful and being touch by South Africa and Europe on the same plate, that's what makes this experience exceptional...

Steenberg hotel is really amazing. The rooms are so beautiful and perfectly blend modern minimalist design with old world charm creating a unique sense of place. I absolutely loved it.
A magical place that is 100% worth the stay. The spa treatments are phenomenal and the golf, the breakfast and the divine pool. Everything is so clean and well kept. The gardens are so beautiful and the hike up to the wine tasting and bistro is worth it. But overall the best of all is the service, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. We were sad to leave but we will be back next time in CT.
We had a decent time at the Steenberg overall. The rooms are well appointed and located in a building just across from the spa. We ate at the busy Bistro restaurant one night and had an ok bistro meal. Tryn (the signature restaurant) was disappointing on the first night. We had been used to really high quality cooking in the previous restaurants we had eaten at around the Cape and we ended up with something that fell short: undercooked, tasteless scallops, overcooked tasteless fish, OK risotto … great for a steak sandwich at lunch the next day however. That’s closer to the level… If you were here on a golf trip and expecting golf club food at a 3 star level you would be happy. You’ll need to walk across the yard to breakfast (in the rain!) and get a van to the Bistro, wine tasting or anything else … the estate is located in middle class suburbia and is very popular with day visitors. They get hundreds and hundreds of day visitors here and that is really their primary focus. We felt like they were far more concerned with delivering a service for the day guests and less so for us. I would suggest staying somewhere else if you want peace and relaxation, pay them a visit for a wine tasting and return happy to your tranquil off-site hotel.
Exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and it’s hard to beat. The charm of a boutique, homely, tastefully decorated hotel, matched perfectly with the indescribable expansiveness and grandeur of the surrounding valleys. The hospitality as a whole is unparalleled. The concierge and the chauffeur service have been spectacular. If there’s one criticism, it would be the about the restaurants - presumably quite pleasant from a local standard, yet slightly eclipsed by the setting, or the remarkable time we’ve had elsewhere in the establishment.
